The following summary tables and overview of events survey hostile Israeli activities during the period 01 May 2019 to May 31 2019. The report includes a summary table of events, classified by type, throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, in addition to a comparative table surveying events over the past three months. The survey is compiled from the Daily Situation Reports of the Palestinian Monitoring Group (PMG) of the Negotiations Affairs Department (NAD) of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The PMG monitors ground conditions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, including Israeli and Palestinian violations. The information reported through the PMG process represents data available at the time of distribution only.

Analysis of Events
Killings
A total of 32 residents were killed by Israeli forces during the month of May 2019 {2 in the West Bank and 30 in Gaza}:
- May 3rd 2019: Israeli forces killed Ramzi Rawhi Hassan Abddo {31 years old} after opening fire towards demonstrators in east Al-Buriej camp.
- May 3rd 2019: Israeli air strikes towards Palestinian Gunmen locations in west Al-Maghazi camp killed Abd Allah Ibrahim Mahmoud Abu Mloh {33 years old} {a resident of Nusseirat camp}, and 'Alla' Ali Hassan al-Bubli {29 years old}{a resident of al-Maghazi camp}.
- May 3rd 2019: Israeli forces killed Raed Khalil Mahmoud Abu Teir {19 years old} during clashes in east Khuz'a town located in east Khan Yunis city.
- May 4th 2019: Israeli airstrikes towards east Gaza city killed the infant Saba Mahmoud Hamdan Abu Arar (14 months old) and Falastine Saleh Abu Arar (37 years old pregnant woman).
- May 4th 2019: Israeli tank shelling towards east Beit Hanun town killed Imad Mohammed Nusair {22 years old}.
- May 4th 2019: Israeli airstrikes towards North West Beit Lahiya town killed Mohammed Hilmi Abu Qalik, 25 years old.
- May 4th 2019: Israeli air strikes towards east Al-Buriej camp killed Mahmoud Subhi Issa {26 years old} and Fawzi Abdel-Hamid Bidawi {24 years old}.
- May 5th 2019: Israeli air strikes towards Gaza district killed 3 residents: Bilal Mohammed 'Abd al-Banna {29 years old}, Abdullah Nofal Mohammed Abu al-Atta {21 years old}, and Hamed Ahmed' Abd al-Khudri {34 years old}.
- May 5th 2019: Israeli airstrikes towards home in Beit Lahiya town killed Abd al-Rahim al-Madhoun, 22, Fadi Ragheb Badran, 31, and Amani al-Madhoun, 33, who is pregnant in her ninth month.
- May 5th 2019: Israeli airstrikes towards Al-Shiekh Zayed Towers in Beit Lahiya town killed 5 residents {including a 4 month infant Mariya Ahmad Ramadan Ghali ,Abd al-Rahman Talal' Atiyyah Abu al-Jidyan {12 years old}, Ahmed Ramadan Ramadan Rajab al-Ghazali {31 years old}, were killed when Israeli warplanes bombed a residential building in Sheikh Zayed Towers in Beit Lahia. , Abdul Rahim Mustafa Taha Al-Madhoun {61 years old}, and Iman Abdullah Musa al-Ghazali {30 years old}.
- May 5th 2019: Israeli airstrikes towards Rafah district killed 3 residents: Musa Hussein Muammar {24 years old}, Ali Ahmed Ali Abdul Jawad {51 years old}, and Hani Hamdan Abu Sha'ar {37 years old}.
- May 6th 2019: Israeli airstrikes towards Central Gaza district killed 3 residents: Muhammad 'Abd al-Nabi Abu' Armaneh 30 years old, {a resident of al-Bureij camp}, Mahmoud Samir Abu 'Armaneh, {27 years old} {a resident of al-Bureij camp}, and Iyad' Abdullah al-Shurahi {34 years old} {a resident of Maghazi camp}.
- May 10th 2019: Israeli forces killed Abdallah Jum'a Abdel-Al {24 years old} {a resident of Rafah city} during clashes in east Rafah city.
- May 31st 2019: Israeli forces positioned at Mazmoura military checkpoint located in Wadi AlHums located near Al-Khus and Al-Nu'man villages located in east Bethlehem city opened fire towards and killed the child Abdullah Louay Ghaith, 16 years old, resident of Hebron.
- May 31st 2019: Israeli forces opened fire towards and killed Yousef Wajih Suheil {18 years old} {a resident of 'Abwain town in Ramallah & Al-Bireh district} in in the old city of Jerusalem.
A total of 364 injuries were reported in the month of May 2019 (52 Palestinians in the West Bank and 312 in the Gaza Strip). Injuries included 8 children, 1 Journalist and 2 Fishermen.
Arrests
During the month of May 2019, the Israeli military arrested 367 Palestinians (360 in the West Bank and 7 in the Gaza Strip). The majority of arrests took place in the districts of Jerusalem (111); Ramallah (40); Jenin (25); Tubas (6); Tulkarem (14); Qalqiliya (12); Nablus (39); Salfit (16); Jericho (10); Bethlehem (28); Hebron (59),North Gaza (5), Gaza (1) and Central Gaza (1). Closure
Especially on Fridays, the Israeli military continues to intensify restrictions at checkpoints located at the entrances of Jerusalem, and to restrict entrance to the Al Aqsa Mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem, preventing worshippers from accessing the Mosque. At the Qalandiya checkpoint north of Jerusalem, the Israeli military continues to prevent PNA registered civilian vehicles from crossing the checkpoint towards Ar Ram and Qalandiya as well as Dahiyat al Bareed. The checkpoint is overcrowded daily, particularly during rush hours, due to intensified restrictions and search measures applied by Israeli troops. During the month of April 2019 the Israeli military also continued to intensify restrictions at the Tayasir checkpoint and Al Hamra junction checkpoint leading to the Jordan Valley area, only allowing access to civilians whose IDs indicate District of Jericho residence or others holding special access permits. In addition, restrictions were intensified and civilian access was obstructed at the Za’tara junction checkpoint (separating the northern and central West Bank districts) as well as at the As Sawahira ash Sharqiya (the ‘Container’) checkpoint (separating the central and southern West Bank districts).
The Israeli military installed 217 flying checkpoints in May 2019 (compared with 386 in April 2019 and 368 in March 2019) and as a result restricted the free access and movement of residents, merchant supplies and agricultural goods.

The Israeli military carried out a total of 277 raids in Palestinian residential areas during the month of May 2019, including 273 in the West Bank and 4 in the Gaza Strip. Attacks on residential areas in West Bank and Gaza districts
Home Demolition
During the month of May 2019, the Israeli military demolished 32 Palestinian homes and residential tents, which consisted of the following:
- May 1st 2019: Israeli forces demolished a residential tent owned by Hussien Radi Al-Nua'ja in Susiya village located in south east Yatta town.
- May 1st 2019: Israeli forces demolished a home {100 m2} owned by Jibril Mahmoud Al-Adrat in Al-Dirat area located in east Yatta town.
- May 4th 2019: Israeli airstrikes towards North West Beit Lahiya town destroyed a home owned by Khalid Ahmad Abu Zayda.
- May 4th 2019: Israeli airstrikes towards east Gaza city destroyed 3 buildings {including Al-Husari and Al-Saraj buildings}.
- May 4th 2019: Israeli airstrikes towards Khan Yunis district destroyed 2 homes owned by Al-Astal and Al-Mishar Families in Khan Yunis city and Khan Yunis camp.
- May 4th 2019: Israeli airstrikes destroyed a home owned by Zai'rab family.
- May 5th 2019: Israeli airstrikes towards Al-Shiekh Zayed Towers in Beit Lahiya town destroyed 4 homes {including 2 apartments in Al-Shiekh Zayed Towers}.
- May 5th 2019: Israeli airstrikes towards Gaza city destroyed 5 homes owned by Abu Qamar family, southwest of Gaza City, Abu Kass family home in al-Shojaeya neighborhood, al-Sukran family house in al-Tuffah neighbourhood, and 2 houses belonging to the families of al-Jamal and al-Mashtahei in Gaza City.
- May 5th 2019: Israeli airstrikes towards Al-Maghazi camp destroyed 3 homes owned by Aqil, Abu Naim and Abu Eisha families.
- May 5th 2019: Israeli artillery strikes towards east Khan Yunis city destroyed 3 homes owned Abu Shahla - in the town of Bani Suhaila, Abu Tair - east of the city of Khan Younis, and the house "abandoned" - east of the city of Khan Younis).
- May 5th 2019: Israeli airstrikes towards Rafah district destroyed Za'reb building and damaged 2 homes.
- May 16th 2019: Israeli forces demolished a residential tent owned by Hussien Radi Al-Nuwaj'a located near Sussiya village in east Yatta town.
- May 23rd 2019: Israeli forces demolished a home owned {by a resident from Sur Baher village in Jerusalem city} located in Khalayil Al-Louz village for allegedly being built without a licence because of its location in area C.
- May 30th 2019: Israeli forces demolished 2 residential tents, as well as a livestock den owned by Najah Ali al-Kaabneh located in Al-Hadadiya area located in the North Jordan valley.
- May 30th 2019: Israeli forces demolished 2 residential tents, a livestock den and a storage room owned by Jihad Bani Oda located in Ras Al-Hamra area in the North Jordan valley.
Attack on Public and Private Property
Attack on Public and Private property occurred as follows per District:
Jerusalem:
- May 1st 2019: Israeli forces closed "Fast Lane" Print shop owned by Ibrahim Al-Taweel in Jerusalem city.
- May 11th 2019: Israeli forces raided the headquarters of the Burj Al-Laqlaq Community Center in Jerusalem city and attempted to remove a Ramadan Decoration lantern which was placed in May 9th 2019.
Tubas:
- May 12th 2019: The Israeli military forced 15 families out of their home in Khirbeit Humsat Al-Foqa area located in the North Jordan valley region from 14:00 on May 12th 2019 until 10:00 on May 13th 2019 for alleged military training in the area {which was based on a prior military order given to local residents}.
- May 13th 2019: A fire broke out in areas of pastoral land in the Khallet al-Bad area in Wadi al-Maleh located in the northern Jordan Valley due to the training of the Israeli occupation forces in the area, which led to the burning of a large area of pastures on which livestock owners rely mainly on grazing their cattle.
- May 14th 2019: A Fire broke out in dozens of dunums of pastoral land located in the Buqai'a and Homsa areas in the northern Jordan Valley, as the Israeli occupation forces conducted training in the area. This led to the burning of large areas of grazing areas, which are mainly used for grazing cattle.
- May 30th 2019: Israeli forces demolished 3 livestock dens and 2 residential tents owned by Najah Ali al-Kaabneh located in Al-Hadadiya area located in the North Jordan valley.
- May 30th 2019: Israeli forces demolished a storage room, a livestock den and 2 residential tents owned by Jihad Bani Oda located in Ras Al-Hamra area in the North Jordan valley.
Nablus:
- May 5th 2019: Israeli forces levelled agricultural land in Al-Libban Al-Gharbiya village located near "Beit Irbiya" settlement and uprooted 120 Olive trees planted on a plot of land {approximately 3 dunums} owned by Shafiq Ahmed Abu Salem in-order to constrict a settlement road.
- May 13th 2019: Israeli forces positioned in Kafr Qaddum village prevented Abdel-Haleem Abdallah from entering his agricultural land.
- May 13th 2019: Israeli forces halted construction work on an agricultural road {approximately 400 m long which would benefits farmers land located in the east area of the village} because of its location in area C {which is under Israeli Military and administrative control}.
Salfit:
- May 14th 2019: Israeli forces demolished a merchant shop owned by Abdel-Nasser Daud for allegedly being built without a licence during their raid into Harris village.
Bethlehem:
- May 27th 2019: Israeli forces demolished an agricultural storage room owned by Mohammad Ahmad Salah located in Shush'hilat area in Al-Khader town.
Hebron:
- May 2nd 2019: Israeli forces demolished a livestock den owned by Khierallah Soliman Al-Hathalin and assaulted Soliman Al-Hathalin {75 years old} as he was attempting to prevent the demolition and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions.
- May 21st 2019: Israeli forces stormed a merchant shop located in Al-Salhat area in the old city of Hebron, broke several glass bottles inside the refrigerators in the store owned by Ghassan Iz Al-Din Abu Hadid during which an elderly resident was injured after Israeli forces stormed the shop leaving him hospitalized with contusions.
- May 26th 2019: Israeli forces shattered the windshield of a vehicle owned by Ibrahim Khlil Sabarna after opening fire towards it during their raid into Beit Ummar town.
Gaza:
- May 4th 2019: Israeli airstrikes towards east Gaza city 3 blacksmith workshops, and 3 media offices.
- May 5th 2019: Israeli airstrikes towards Gaza city destroyed 3 blacksmith workshops in Al-Zaytuneh neighbourhood and 2 vehicles in Gaza city.
Confiscation of Property:
Ramallah & Al-Bireh:
- May 2nd 2019: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by the family of Mu'tasim Munir Al-Barghouthi {a Palestinian Detainee} in Kobar town.
Tubas:
- May 12th 2019: Israeli forces confiscated 2 vehicle owned by journalists in in Khirbeit Humsat Al-Foqa area located in the North Jordan valley region {as they were covering the events were Israeli military forces as they were covering the removal 15 families out of their homes} for alleged military training in the area {as mentioned in the previous report}.
- May 22nd 2019: Israeli forces confiscated a truck owned by Mohammad Jamil Bisharat in Al-Jarouf area of Khirbeit Humsa Al-Foqa located in the North Jordan valley.
Qalqiliya:
- May 22nd 2019: Israeli forces positioned near Kafr Qaddum village confiscated a truck owned by Faris Abdallah Hamad as he was transporting a load of soil from a road near "Qaddumim" settlement to a plot of land owned by a resident near the road.
Nablus:
- May 19th 2019: Israeli forces confiscated construction equipment from a home {under construction} owned by Abdel-Hakeem Al-Najjar located in the eastern area of Burin village for allegedly not having a valid constriction license and because its located is close to proximity to a bypass road which the occupation authorities intend to create for the benefit of the settlers.
- May 28th 2019: Israeli forces confiscated a computer and Cellular telephone from the home of Usayed Shihada {A Palestinian Detainee} during their raid into Orif village.
Bethlehem:
- May 13th 2019: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Nidal Nabil Thawabta after detaining him during their raid into Beit Fajjar town.
Hebron:
- May 16th 2019: Israeli forces confiscated a tent owned by Hussien Radi Al-Nuwaj'a after demolishing it near Sussiya village in east Yatta town.
- May 23rd 2019: Israeli forces positioned at a checkpoint near the entrance of Bani Na'im town confiscated a vehicle owned by Mus'ab Manasra.
- May 26th 2019: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Firas Taysir Al-Qawasma after detaining him during their raid into Hebron city.
- May 28th 2019: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Ameen Al-Rajabi Ghineim after detaining him during their raid into Hebron city.
Gaza:
- May 11th 2019: Israeli Naval forces confiscated fishing boat off the shores of Gaza city.
Settlement Activity:
- May 1st 2019: Israeli forces stormed Kafr Qaddum village and levelled a plot of agricultural land owned by Nathmi Obied {a resident of Kafr Qaddum village}.
- May 13th 2019: Israeli forces levelled agricultural land located near "Yaqar" settlement in Deir Istiya town.
- May 30th 2019: The Israeli authorities issued tenders for the construction of 805 housing units (460 housing units in the Pisgat Zeev settlement and 345 housing units in the Ramot settlement) located on the land of East Jerusalem in the 1967 occupied territories.
Settler Violence:
27 incidents of Settler violence occurred during the month of March 2019 including:
Jerusalem:
- May 6th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers in Jerusalem city assaulted Ahmad Fawaz Awayis {a resident of Al-Thori neighbourhood in Jerusalem city} and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions.
- May 16th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Suqi, Al-Khawaja and Atarin area's in the old city of Jerusalem and assaulted several merchants by spraying pepper spray onto their faces.
Ramallah &Al-Bireh:
- May 1st 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Burqa village and uprooted 25 Olive trees owned by Sayel Saleem Ibrahim Mutan.
- May 30th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed the area between Al-Tira neighbourhood in Ramallah city and Ein Qinya village and performed Talmudic rituals in the area during which Israeli forces fired stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents for alleged stoning.
Tubas:
- May 25th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers positioned near "Migola" settlement located in the North Jordan valley assaulted Rabi' Mahmoud Awad as he was herding his live stock in the area and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions.
Jenin:
- May 17th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers positioned near the entrance of "Homish" settlement {which was abandoned} stoned vehicles travelling along the main road connecting Nablus and Jenin and as a result damaged several vehicles.
Nablus:
- May 1st 2019: a group of Israeli settlers from "Yitshar" settlement stoned several vehicles travelling along the bypass road near the settlement and as a result damaged and shattered the windshield of a Palestinian National Security Force vehicle.
- May 1st 2019: a group of Israeli settlers from "Alon Moriya" settlement levelled a plot of land in Deir Al-Hatab village and installed 5 mobile homes in an attempt to seize the land.
- May 3rd 2019: a group of Israeli settlers positioned along the main road located near Huwara town stoned vehicles travelling along the road and as a result smashed the windshields of 2 vehicles owned by Nash'at Osama Subhi Bani Minyat and Sa'id Abdel-Latif Damedi then withdrew at 19:30.
- May 3rd 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Huwara town and slashed the tires of 11 vehicles then spray painted anti arab and racist slogans on the vehicles and the walls surrounding a local cemetery.
- May 4th 2019: Israeli settlers raided Einbuis village, assaulted several residents then withdrew under the protection of the Israeli Military.
- May 6th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land located in the east area of Madma village and levelled a plot of land in order to pave a road leading to Al-Sha'ra area {which contains natural water springs}.
- May 8th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers under the protection of the Israeli Military stormed archaeological sites Al-Masaudiya area located in Burqa village and celebrated for the Jewish holidays.
- May 10th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in the south east area of Assira Al-Qibliya village and mapped out the plot of land approximately 15 dunums then withdrew under the protection of the Israeli Military.
- May 13th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Khirbiet Yanoun village located in east Aqraba town then chopped down several Olive trees.
- May 17th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in east Assira Al-Qibliya village and set fire to agricultural crops and stoned several homes during which local residents and Palestinian Civil Defense forces were able to chase the settlers away and put of the fire.
- May 18th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Burin village and set fire to agricultural crops during which local residents were able to put out the fire.
- May 25th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers from "Karni Shamron" stormed a home owned by Ameen Awad Jabr located in Kafr Laqif village near the main road leading to Qalqiliya city then raised an Israeli flag on its rooftop then withdrew at a later time.
Salfit:
- May 17th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Marda village and spray painted anti-arab and racist slogans on the walls of homes and vehicles.
- May 23rd 2019: a group of Israeli settlers positioned near the entrance of "Brugin" settlement located near Kafr Al-Dik town set fire to several tires after an alleged stoning attack towards an Israeli settlers bus.
Hebron: ,
- May 1st 2019: a group of Israeli settlers assaulted Diya Qufshiya in the old city of Hebron.
- May 18th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers assaulted the child Ranin Zuhada in the old city of Hebron.
- May 18th 2019: a group of Israeli settler assaulted Kayed Ghirayib in Tel Al-Rumayda neighborhood in the old city of Hebron and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions.
- May 23rd 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed and attacked a home owned by Hisham Salim Al-Rajabi located in Jabal Juhar area located in the old city of Hebron and assaulted him and his family members.
- May 25th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Ein Al-Far'a area located in the area between Tafuh and Ithna towns then withdrew at a later time.
- May 30th 2019: a group of Israeli settler stormed Al-Ja'bari Gas Station located along Al-Shihada road in the old city of Hebron And repaired the doors and facades and paved the floor with tiles and the placement of wooden seats and tables, and installed a wall of long reeds on one of its edges.
Closure of Crossing Points
The Israeli military completely closed crossing points into the Gaza Strip, including access points within the Green Line, on 157 occasions during the month of May 2019. The Israeli military closed crossing points within the Green Line on 116 occasions. It opened Beit Hanun (Erez) Crossing for 22 days for previously-coordinated humanitarian cases and foreign nationals and Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing for 17 days for transportation of food supplies, humanitarian aid, and cooking gas. In addition to allowing in animal feed, construction cargo designated for UNRWA and internationally-funded projects was transported through the Crossing. Sufa Crossing was closed throughout the month. On the other hand, the Israeli authorities have continued to unilaterally close Ash Shuja’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Israeli authorities has also continued to completely close Al Muntar (Karnei) Commercial Crossing.
The Israeli military closed international crossing points on 41 occasions. Rafah Crossing was closed on 10 occasions. Yasser Arafat International Airport has remained closed since the outbreak of the second Intifada.
