MONTHLY SUMMARY OF ISRAELI VIOLATIONS

01 March 2022 – 31 March 2022

 

The following summary tables and overview of events survey hostile Israeli activities during the period 01 March 2022 to 31 March 2022. The report includes a summary table of events, classified by type, throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, in addition to a comparative table surveying events over the past three months. The survey is compiled from the Daily Situation Reports of the Palestinian Monitoring Group (PMG) of the Negotiations Affairs Department (NAD) of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The PMG monitors ground conditions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, including Israeli and Palestinian violations.. The information reported through the PMG process represents data available at the time of distribution only. 

 

 

Sample of Israeli Violations during the Month of  March  2022

03/01/2022: The Israeli occupation forces positioned near the western entrance to the town of Beit Fajjar, opened fire towards and killed Ammar Shafiq Issa Abu Afifa, 19 years old - a resident of Al-Aroub refugee camp in the Hebron governorate 03/01/2022: The Israeli occupation forces fired live ammunition, rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters citizens, under the pretext that they were subjected to gunfire and stones were thrown as they a number of houses in the camp during their raid into Jenin city and its camp and as a result killed 2 civilians:  Abdullah Al-Husari, 22 years old, and Shadi Khaled Najm, 18 years old and seriously injured Ubadah al-Ghoul. 03/04/2022: The Israeli occupation forces positioned in Bab Al-Zawiya area in Hebron city, fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards citizens for alleged stoning, injuring 5 civilians (including 3 children - one of them seriously), and left a number of citizens suffocated as a result of inhaling tear gas. 03/04/2022: the Israeli occupation forces positioned in Bab Al-Zawiya area in Hebron city, fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards citizens for alleged stoning, injuring 5 civilians (including 3 children - one of them seriously):  Muhammad Iyad Al-Jabari, 13 years old - (seriously injured), Kamal Muhammad Al-Junaidi, 15 years old, Moataz Issa Hassouna, 15 years old, Majdi Amjad Abu Shamsia, and Milad Ahmed Muhammad Shaheen., and left a number of citizens suffocated as a result of inhaling tear gas. 03/06/2022: the citizen: Mutassim Abdel Latif Nasr - a resident of Bazaria village was admitted to Al-Ittihad Hospital in Nablus as result of being run over by a military vehicle of the Israeli occupation forces near the entrance to the village of Bazaria. 03/06/2022: The civilian: Samer Jamal Qawasmi, 19 years old - a resident of Al-Tur neighborhood in Jerusalem was killed after Israeli occupation forces opened fire towards him near Bab Hatta (one of the doors leading to Al-Aqsa Mosque) in the Old City of Jerusalem. 03/06/2022: The child: Yamen Nafez Mahmoud Jafal, 16 years old - a resident of Abu Dis town was killed after Israeli occupation forces opened fire towards him in the town of Abu Dis. 03/07/2022: The Israeli occupation forces fired live ammunition, rubber-coated metal, stun and tear gas canisters towards citizens for alleged stoning and as a result injured 10 civilians: Muhammad Mutasim Jaradat, Osama Zaid Salahat, Nidal Zakaria Abdul-Souqi, Muhammad Abdul-Fattah Harb, Ahmed Abu Ghali, Abdullah Turkman, Diaa Shawahna, Raif Tahaineh, and Wissam Rajeh Jaradat, and Mohammed Rajeh Jaradat. while demolishing the homes of two detainees during their raid into Al-Saila Al-Harithiya town. 03/07/2022:  the Israeli occupation forces in the town of Abu Dis opened fire towards and killed the child: Yamen Nafez Mahmoud Jafal, 16 years old - a resident of Abu Dis town  03/09/2022:  The civilian: Ahmed Hikmat Seif 23 years old - a resident of the village of Burqa, succumbed to his serious wounds, which he sustained during confrontations with the Israeli occupation forces near the entrance to the village of Burqa (as mentioned in a report on 03/02/2022). 03/11/2022: the Israeli occupation forces positioned the vicinity of Jabal Sabih area in Beita town fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards citizens participating in a demonstration against settlers’ attacks and land confiscation for settlement projects, injuring 3 civilians (including a child),  and left a number of civilians suffocated  due to inhalation of tear gas. 03/13/2022: The Israeli occupation forces positioned in the vicinity of the entrance to the settlement of "Psagot", which is built on the eastern outskirts of the city of Al-Bireh, fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards citizens for alleged stoning and as a result injured a child: Raed Naji Daoud, 15 years old. 03/14/2022: the Israeli occupation forces fired live ammunition, rubber-coated metal, stun and tear gas canisters towards  citizens for alleged stoning, while they were stormed a number of houses and as a result killed the 17-year-old child, Nader Haitham Fathi Rayan, and injured  3 others (including the 17-year-old child, Mustafa Ahmed Masha). 03/15/2022: during their raid into the city of Nablus, the Israeli occupation forces fired live ammunition, rubber-coated metal, stun and tear gas canisters towards citizens, under the pretext that they were subjected to gunfire and stoning, while they were escorting a group of Israeli settlers who stormed (Joseph’s Tomb), which led to the injury of 5 civilians (including a journalist) - one of them was taken to an Israeli hospital for treatment by the occupation forces, and 15 civilians - suffocated due to tear gas inhalation. 03/15/2022:, the Israeli occupation forces fired live ammunition and rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas towards citizens for alleged stoning and as a result killed the citizen: Alaa Muhammad Shaham, 22 years old  and injured 6 other unidentified civilians during their raid into Qalandia camp. 03/18/2022:  the Israeli occupation forces positioned in the vicinity of Jabal Sabih area in the town of Beita, fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun grenades and tear gas canisters towards citizens participating in a demonstration against settlers’ attacks and land confiscation for settlement projects, injuring 5 civilians and left 22 A citizen suffocated due to inhalation of tear gas 03/19/2022: the Israeli occupation forces positioned in the Bab Al-Khalil area in Jerusalem, opened fire towards a civilian, seriously wounding him and detained him, under the pretext of stabbing an Israeli settler. 03/19/2022: The occupation forces arrested the Governor of Jerusalem - Adnan Ghaith, after summoning him for interrogation at the “Al-Maskoubiya” detention and investigation center, and extended his detention until today 03/20/ 2022. 03/21/2022: the Israeli occupation forces positioned in the vicinity of the entrance to the settlement of "Psagot", which is built on the eastern outskirts of the city of Al-Bireh, fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards the citizens for alleged stoning and as a result injured the child: Ahmed Issa Abdullah, 16 years old.. 03/22/2022: The Israeli occupation forces raided the town of Kafr Aqab and Qalandia camp, where confrontations took place with the citizens, as they stormed a number of houses and buildings, and as a result injured 7 citizens (including 2 children: Anas Mahmoud Muhammad Matar, 17 years, Ahmed Faisal Assaf, 16 years), and left 47 other citizens suffocated as a result of inhaling tear gas, and detaineda citizen in the town of Kafr Aqab. 03/25/2022:  the Israeli occupation forces positioned in the vicinity of “Eyal” checkpoint, north of Qalqilya fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun grenades and tear gas canisters towards citizens for alleged stoning and as a result injured 4 civilians, and left a number of citizens suffocated due to inhalation of tear gas. 03/25/2022:  the Israeli occupation forces positioned in the village of Beit Dajan, fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards citizens participating in a demonstration against settlers’ attacks and land confiscation for settlement projects, as a result of which 11 civilians suffocated due to tear gas inhalation. 03/31/2022: the Israeli occupation forces fired live ammunition, rubber-coated metal, stun and tear gas canisters towards citizens for alleged stoning as they stormed a number of houses during their raid into Jenin city and its camp, which led to the death of 2 civilians (including a child):  Sanad Muhammad Khalil Abu Attia, 17 years old - a resident of Jenin refugee camp, and Yazid Nidal Saad Al-Din Al-Saadi, 27 years old - a resident of Jenin, injured 15 civilians: Ziyad Al-Saadi, Yassin Amouri, Muhammad Jamal Abhara with serious injuries), Islam Jamil Shehadeh, Ahmed Jamil Shehadeh, Ahmed Shaher Alyan, Samer Omar Amouri, Walid Majid Al-Jazrah, Adham Nabil Jabareen, Muhammad Ayman Al-Saadi, Noureddine Nihad Awwad, Adam Al-Omari, Qais Al-Atoum (seriously injured), Walid Marei (seriously injured), and Qusay Sabaya and a left number of others suffocated due to tear gas inhalation. 03/31/2022: The Israeli occupation forces positioned near the junction of the "Etzion" settlement, opened fire towards and killed  at Nidal Juma'a Abdullah Jaafra, 30, a resident of Tarqumiya town, Hebron governorate, under the pretext of trying to stab a settler.

Injuries	167		167	A total of   167 injuries were reported in the month of March 2022 { 167 Palestinians in the West Bank and  0 in the Gaza Strip). Including 11 children,2 Journalists and 2 medics.
Attacks	222	103	325	A total of  325 attacks were reported to have taken place during the month of March 2022 ( 222 in the West Bank and 103 in the Gaza Strip) which included  67 from raids into Palestinian towns, villages and camps,155  from positions at Military checkpoints, 73 from positions at Military posts and 30 from Naval vessels.
Raids	556	3	559	The Israeli military carried out a total of  559 raids in Palestinian residential areas during the month of March 2022, including 556 in the West Bank and  3 in the Gaza Strip. The majority of Israeli military raids were reported to have taken place in the districts of Jerusalem (36); Ramallah (112); Jenin (83); Tubas (10)Tulkarem (45); Qalqiliya (26); Nablus (66); Salfit (33); Jericho (11); Bethlehem (69); Hebron (65)Khan Yunis (5) and Central Gaza (1).
Deportation	9		9	The Israeli occupation forces deported 9 Palestinians in March 2022: including 03/01/2022: the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued a decision to deport the citizen: Samer Abu Qwaider (one of the guards of Al-Aqsa Mosque), for a period of two weeks, from Al-Aqsa Mosque, as a condition for his release after having detained him earlier. 03/10/2022: the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued a decision to banish the custodian of Al-Aqsa Mosque: Samer Abdel Hakim Qwaider, for a period of 6 months, from his place of work in Al-Aqsa Mosque, after he was summoned for interrogation at the Israeli police station in the city of Jerusalem. 03/15/ 2022: the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued a decision to deport the citizen: Jamil Al-Abbasi - a resident of the city of Jerusalem, for a period of one week from Al-Aqsa Mosque, as a condition for his release after he was arrested earlier. 03/16/ 2022: the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued a decision to banish the female citizen: Aida Al-Sidawi - residents of the Old City of Jerusalem, for a period of one week from Al-Aqsa Mosque. 03/22/2022: the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued a decision to deport the citizen: Jamil Al-Abbasi - residents of the city of Jerusalem, for a period of 3 months from Al-Aqsa Mosque, as a condition for his release after they detained him earlier. 03/23/2022:  the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued a decision to deport the citizen: Seif Halasa - residents of the Jabal Mukaber neighborhood in Jerusalem, for a period of one month from Bab Al-Amud area, in addition to home confinement away from his home for a period of 3 months. 03/27/2022: the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued a decision to deport the citizen: Musa Khalaf - residents of the city of Jerusalem, for a period of 15 days from Bab Al-Khalil area in Jerusalem, as a condition for his release after they detained him while he was in the Petra Hotel in the city. 03/29/2022: the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued a decision to deport the citizen: Abd al-Rahman Bakirat (director of the Zaid Bin Thabet Center for the Memorization of the Holy Qur’an), for a period of one week from Al-Aqsa Mosque. 03/31/2022:the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued a decision to deport the citizen: Malek Muhaisen, for a period of 15 days, from Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City of Jerusalem.
Arrests	627	8	635	During the month of March 2022, the Israeli military arrested 335 Palestinians { 627 in the West Bank and  8 in the Gaza Strip). The majority of arrests took place in the districts of 125 Jerusalem,92 Ramallah, 88 Jenin,  6 Tubas, 31 Tulkarm,39 Qalqilya,  69 Nablus,  19 Salfit,  11 Jericho, 56 Bethlehem, 91 Hebron, 4 North Gaza and 4 Khan Yunis.   Among them: 40 Children, 5 female citizens, The Governor of Jerusalem District, 7 University Student and 6 Security Force Officer.
Temporary Detention	67		67	03/01/2022: The Israeli occupation forces detained, during their raid into of Faqqu'a village, 2 officers from the National Security Forces, and later released them: Al-Askari - Muhammad Jalghoum, and Al-Askari - Saeed Zaidat. 03/01/2022:  The Israeli occupation forces detained 17 citizens during their raid of Husan village, and later released them after conducting a field investigation with them. They are: Musab Zaki Za’oul, Bahaa Adel Hamamreh, Adel Abdel Fattah Hamamreh, Muhammad Ismail Za’oul, Laith Muhammad Za’oul and Mazen Zaki. Za’oul, Thaer Mahmoud Za’ul, Abdullah Ahmad Za’ul, Anas Thaer Za’ul, Ahmed Raed Za’ul, Ahmed Mahmoud Za’ul, Mahmoud Riad Hamamreh, Ismail Muhammad Za’ul, Ibrahim Ismail Hamamreh, Muhammad Ibrahim Hamamreh, Muhammad Helmy Hamamreh, and Noor Muhammad Helmy Hamamreh. 03/01/2022: The Israeli occupation forces detained 2 children while storming the town of Yabad, and later released them: Omar Mahmoud Abu Bakr, 13 years old, and Ammar Muhammad Abu Bakr, 13 years old. 03/02/2022: The Israeli occupation forces detained 2 children while storming the town of Yabad, and later released them: Omar Mahmoud Abu Bakr, 13 years old, and Ammar Muhammad Abu Bakr, 13 years old. 03/02/2022: The Israeli occupation forces temporarily detained Iyad Abu Sneina in Bab Al-Amoud area in Jerusalem, and released him at a later time. 03/02/2022: The Israeli occupation forces temporarily detained 4 soldiers from the Preventive Security Service, in Lafjom area, east of Aqraba, and later released them: Saber Bani Jaber, Ali Awad, Subhi Hamayel, and Wadah Adili. 03/04/2022: The Israeli occupation forces positioned near the entrance to Al-Fawwar camp temporarily detained the child: Qasim Abdul Rahman Majed Al-Hamuz, 13 years old, and released him at 23:20. 03/05/2022: the Israeli occupation forces positioned at a sudden checkpoint at the northern entrance to the city of Salfit temporarily detained the police officer - Azzam Jbara, and the police officer:Amin Mansour, and released them at a later time. 03/08/2022: The Israeli occupation forces temporarily detained the citizen: Wissam Elias Rabie during their raid into the town of Beit Anan, and released him at a later time. 03/09/2022: The Israeli occupation forces temporarily detained 9 citizens: Samer Musa Al-Dababsa, Yahya Omar Othman Abu Sabha, Gabriel Omar, Nasser Rabai, Fadel Youssef Al-Jabarin, Muhammad Badr Al-Amour, Fadi Badr Al-Amour, Zakaria Abu Fanar, and Ali al-Rubai during the storming of Yatta town, and later released them. 03/09/2022: The Israeli occupation forces temporarily detained 6 children: Ghazi Raafat Ghazi Ayyash, Obaidah Ziyad Jamil Shehadeh, Rami Tamer Arsan Shehadeh, Ammar Imad Abdullah, Ayham Tariq Ahmed Shehadeh, and Hamada Abbas Kamel Shehadeh west of Rafat village, and later released them. 03/09/2022: The Israeli occupation forces temporarily detained 3 citizens Bassam Abdel Rahman Abdel Razzaq Hammad, Louay Noah Faris Hammad, and Muhammad Jibril Habash Hammad. during their raid into Silwad town, and later released them 03/10/2022: The Israeli occupation forces temporarily detained the citizen: Hamza Muhammad Salem Al-Aned, in the town of Al-Samo`, and released him at 14:15 03/10/2022: The Israeli occupation forces detained 2 citizens at a flying checkpoint at the entrance to the village of Al-Sawiya, and released them at a later time: Laith Farouk Hijazi and Dahman Farouk Hijazi. 03/10/2022: The Israeli occupation forces temporarily detained the citizen: Mahmoud Saeed Fashafsha during their raid into the town of Jaba, and released him after conducting a field investigation with him 03/19/2022: The Israeli occupation forces detained at Al-Karamah outlet (Allenby), the governor of Jerusalem - Adnan Ghaith, and his media advisor - Marouf Al-Rifai, and prevented them from traveling, and released them later after they handed over to the governor of Jerusalem, a notification to review the Israeli intelligence at the detention and investigation center " Al-Maskobiyya" in the city of Jerusalem. 03/25/2022: The Israeli occupation forces detained the citizen: Abdel Fattah Abu Sale during their raid into Al-Arroub camp, and released him at a later time. 03/26/2022: The Israeli occupation forces positioned near the "Ainaf" settlement temporarily the citizen: Hadi Asaad Musa Faqha - residents of Kafr al-Labad, and released him. 03/26/2022: The Israeli occupation forces temporarily detained 3 citizens (including 2 children): Qusai Hassan Shukri Yahya, 13 years old, Amir Alaa Tawfiq Yahya, 14 years old, and Yazid Burhan Najib Yahya in the village of Al-Arqa, and later released them after the military liaison intervened. 03/27/2022: The Israeli occupation forces temporarily detained 5 citizens (including a lawyer): the lawyer - Medhat Diba, Musa Khalaf, Abdul Rahman Saeed, Firas Al-Atrash, and Omar Bashir Maarouf Qarash in the Petra Hotel in the Bab Al-Khalil area in Jerusalem. 03/28/2022: The Israeli occupation forces detained the child: Ragheb Tawfiq Samhan, 10, in Ras Karkar village, and released him at 22:15. 03/29/2022: The Israeli occupation forces positioned in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque detained the citizen: Muntasir Adkidik (director of the Burj Al-Luqluq Association) - a resident of the city of Jerusalem, and released him at a later time.

Home Demolition	10		10	The Israeli occupation forces demolitions including: 03/04/2022: The Israeli occupation authorities in the town of Beit Hanina forced the citizen: Raef Raafat Shweiki, to personally demolish his house, after notifying him earlier, in order to avoid paying heavy fines in the event that the occupation authorities carried out the demolition, on the pretext of not having a license. 03/07/2022: The Israeli occupation authorities in the town of Beit Hanina forced the citizen: Ahmed Siyam to personally demolish his house, after notifying him earlier, in order to avoid paying heavy fines in the event that the occupation authorities carried out the demolition, on the pretext of not having a license. 03/07/2022: The Israeli occupation forces demolished a house (under construction) in the Ras Khamis neighborhood in Shuafat camp, owned by: Abu Suhaib Al-Sa'u, under the pretext of not having a license. 03/07/2022: The Israeli occupation forces demolished a 100-square-meter house, owned by Saddam Jawad Jaber, in the Khallet al-Eida area, near the bypass road, east of Hebron, under the pretext of not having a permit. 03/20/2022: The Israeli occupation forces demolished 2 of the houses owned by citizens of the Mleihat - Al-Badawi family, under the pretext of not having a permit., in the Al-Ma’arjat area, west of Jericho. 03/23/2022: The Israeli occupation forces in the Arab al-Kaabna community, west of the town of al-Auja, demolished two houses consisting of bricks and tin roofs, owned by the two brothers: Muhammad and Atallah Youssef Muhammad Kaabna, under the pretext of not having a license.
Land Levelling	3		3	03/22/2022:  The Israeli occupation forces carried out excavation and bulldozing work in the Wadi al-Rababa area in the Silwan neighborhood in Jerusalem. 03/23/2022: The Israeli occupation forces razed near the industrial zone of the “Alfe Mensheh” settlement, an area estimated at 100 dunums of citizens’ lands belonging to the towns of Azzun, Kafr Thulth and Habla. 03/27/2022: The Israeli occupation forces razed an area of ​​citizens’ lands in the Smoukh area, located near the bypass road, which belongs to the town of Kafr ad-Dik.

A total of   12 resident was killed by Israeli forces during the month of March 2022:

• 03/01/2022: The civilian: Ammar Shafiq Issa Abu Afifa, 19 years old - a resident of Al-Aroub refugee camp in the Hebron governorate was killed after he was shot by the Israeli occupation forces near the eastern entrance to the town of Beit Fajjar

During the month of March 2022, the Israeli military arrested 335 Palestinians { 627 in the West Bank and  8 in the Gaza Strip). The majority of arrests took place in the districts of 125 Jerusalem,92 Ramallah, 88 Jenin,  6 Tubas, 31 Tulkarm,39 Qalqilya,  69 Nablus,  19 Salfit,  11 Jericho, 56 Bethlehem, 91 Hebron, 4 North Gaza and 4 Khan Yunis.  

 

Among them: 40 Children, 5 female citizens, The Governor of Jerusalem District, 7 University Student and 6 Security Force Officer.

Especially on Fridays, the Israeli military continues to intensify restrictions at checkpoints located at the entrances of Jerusalem, and to restrict entrance to the Al Aqsa Mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem, preventing worshippers from accessing the Mosque. At the Qalandiya checkpoint north of Jerusalem, the Israeli military continues to prevent PNA registered civilian vehicles from crossing the checkpoint towards Ar Ram and Qalandiya as well as Dahiyat al Bareed. The checkpoint is overcrowded daily, particularly during rush hours, due to intensified restrictions and search measures applied by Israeli troops. During the month of March 2022  ,the Israeli military also continued to intensify restrictions at the Tayasir checkpoint and Al Hamra junction checkpoint leading to the Jordan Valley area, only allowing access to civilians whose IDs indicate District of Jericho residence or others holding special access permits. In addition, restrictions were intensified and civilian access was obstructed at the Za’tara junction checkpoint (separating the northern and central West Bank districts) as well as at the As Sawahira ash Sharqiya (the ‘Container’) checkpoint (separating the central and southern West Bank districts).

The Israeli military installed 246 checkpoints in March 2022 (Compared with 227 flying checkpoints in February 2022 and 213 in January 2022 and as a result restricted the free access and movement of residents, merchant supplies and agricultural goods.

The Israeli military set up 246 Flying checkpoints in the month of March 2022 and searched Palestinian civilians and vehicles in and around Palestinian residential areas in the districts of Jerusalem (7); Ramallah (44); Jenin (9);Tubas (3); Jenin (7),  Qalqiliya (28); Nablus (8); Salfit (24); Jericho (9); Bethlehem (74); Hebron (37).

 

The Israeli military carried out a total of 559 raids in Palestinian residential areas during the month of March 2022, including 556 in the West Bank and  3 in the Gaza Strip.
