MONTHLY SUMMARY OF ISRAELI VIOLATIONS

01 July 2022 – 31 July 2022

 

The following summary tables and overview of events survey hostile Israeli activities during the period 01 July 2022 to 31 July 2022. The report includes a summary table of events, classified by type, throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, in addition to a comparative table surveying events over the past three months. The survey is compiled from the Daily Situation Reports of the Palestinian Monitoring Group (PMG) of the Negotiations Affairs Department (NAD) of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The PMG monitors ground conditions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, including Israeli and Palestinian violations.. The information reported through the PMG process represents data available at the time of distribution only. 

 

 

Sample of Israeli Violations during the Month of  July  2022

07/01/2022: the Israeli occupation forces positioned near the (closed) eastern entrance in the village of Kafr Qaddoum, fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards demonstrators protesting against the closure of the entrance to the village for alleged stoning and as a result injured 17 civilians and left 68 other citizens suffocated due to inhalation of tear gas. 07/02/2022: The detainee: Saadia Salem Radwan Farajallah, a 68-year-old from Ithna town, died on 7/2/2022 in (Damoon) jail due to medical negligence of the Israeli occupation at the prison after she was detained by Israeli occupation force near the Ibrahimi Mosque in the old city of Hebron on 12/ 18/ 2022. 07/03/2022: the civilian: Kamel Abdullah Alawneh, 18 years old (a high school student) -  a resident of the town of Jaba, died of serious wounds he sustained during confrontations with the occupation forces near the entrance to the town of Jaba. 07/06/2022:  the Israeli occupation forces fired live ammunition, rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards citizens for alleged stoning as they stormed a number of houses during their raid into the town of Jaba and as a result killed Rafiq Riad Ghannam, 20 years old. 07/08/2022: The Israeli occupation forces positioned near the (closed) eastern entrance in the village of Kafr Qaddoum, fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards the demonstrators protesting against the closure of the entrance to the village for alleged stoning and as a result injured 8 civilians (including a child). and 2 brothers), and left a number of citizens suffocated due to tear gas inhalation. 07/13/2022: The Israeli occupation forces in the old town of Hebron severely beat the citizen: Khaled Jaber Mustafa Hajjajra –a resident of the city and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions. 07/15/2022: the citizen: Barakat Fahim Abdel Fattah Khaled - a resident of the village of Goresh, was admitted to the government hospital in Nablus, as a result of his injuries - injuries and bruises, as a result of being severely beaten by the occupation forces charged with guarding the apartheid wall near the town of Deir al-Ghusun in the governorate Tulkarm. 07/15/2022: The Israeli occupation forces positioned in the area of the spring in Qaryut village, fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas, canisters towards demonstrators, against the establishment of a new settlement outpost and the settlers’ attacks on the village lands and as a result injured the child: Amir Moaz Abu Salmiya, 12 years old, and left a number of citizens suffocated due to inhalation of tear gas. 07/17/2022: The Israeli occupation forces positioned near the cemetery of Aqabat Jabr camp in the city of Jericho, fired stun and tear gas canisters towards citizens for alleged stoning and as a result injured the child: Muhammad Ayman Muhammad Khalil, 16 years old. 07/19/2022: The Israeli occupation forces fired live ammunition, rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards citizens for alleged stoning as they stormed a number of houses, injuring 4 civilians (including a child who were hospitalized at a government hospital in the city for treatment): Kamal Raed Munther Al-Sayegh, 16 years old, Khaled Abdel Qader Sharqawi, Marjan Muhammad Marjan Nasser, and Jaber Mahmoud Faiq Muslim during their raid into Askar camp in Nablus. 07/24/2022: the Israeli occupation forces fired live ammunition, rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards citizens for alleged shooting and stoning incidents and also fired a rocket-propelled grenade targeting a house while it was surrounded, during their raid into the city of Nablus, and as a result killed 2 civilians: Muhammad Bashar Azizi, 25, and Abd al-Rahman Jamal Sobh, 28 years old and injured 10 civilians (one of them seriously). 07/28/2022: The Israeli occupation forces fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards citizens for alleged stoning as they stormed a house during their raid into Al-Jalazun camp, and as a result injured the child:  Ribhi Ahmed, 13 years old. 07/29/2022: The Israeli occupation forces and Israeli settlers positioned near the village of Al-Mughayer, fired live ammunition and rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards citizens demonstrating against the settlers’ attacks and as a result killed the child: Amjad Nashaat Abu Aliya, 16 years old and injured 3 civilians, and left a number of citizens suffocated due to inhalation tear gas (including Muayyad Shaaban - Minister of Wall and Settlement Affairs). 07/29/2022:  The citizen: Hussein Hassan Qawariq, 60 years old - a resident of the village of Awarta, died of serious wounds he sustained as a result of being shot by the occupation forces in the vicinity of Hawara Checkpoint (as mentioned in a report on 07.27. 2022). 07/29/2022: the Israeli occupation forces positioned near the (closed) eastern entrance in the village of Kafr Qaddoum, fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards demonstrators protesting against the closure of the entrance to the village, for alleged stoning and as a result injured 11 civilians (including a journalist) and left a number of citizens suffered from suffocation due to tear gas inhalation.

Deportation	9		9	The Israeli occupation forces deported 9 Palestinians in July 2022: including:   07/02/2022, The Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued a decision to deport the citizen: Nizam Abu Ramoz - residents of the city of Jerusalem, for a week, from Al-Aqsa Mosque, as a condition for his release after they arrested him earlier. 07/07/ 2022, the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued a decision to deport the citizen: Nizam Abu Ramoz -a resident of the city of Jerusalem, for a period of two months from Al-Aqsa Mosque. 07/07/ 2022, the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued a decision to deport the citizen: Mansour Mahmoud - a resident of the city of Jerusalem, for a period of 15 days from Bab al-Amud area in Jerusalem, after summoning him for investigation. 07/18/ 2022, the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued a decision to deport the female citizen: Khadija Khweis - residents of the city of Jerusalem, for a renewable period of one week from Al-Aqsa Mosque, as a condition for her release after she was detained earlier.  07/19/ 2022, the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued a decision banning the citizen: Shadi Al-Motor – a resident of the city of Jerusalem, from entering the rest of the West Bank governorates, for a period of 6 months (for the fourth time in a row).  07/19/ 2022, the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued a decision to deport the citizen: Muhammad Abu Al-Homs – a resident of Al-Isawiya village, for a week, from Al-Aqsa Mosque, as a condition for his release after they had detained him earlier. 07/28/ 2022, the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued a decision to deport 3 citizens - residents of the city of Jerusalem (for varying periods) from Al-Aqsa Mosque: Jihad Nasser Qaws (for a period of 6 months), Rawhi Kalghasi (for a period of 6 months), and Muntasir Abu Nab (for a period of one week, subject to renewal).
Arrests	377	6	383	During the month of July 2022, the Israeli military arrested 383 Palestinians {377 in the West Bank and 6 in the Gaza Strip). The majority of arrests took place in the districts: 88 Jerusalem,87 Ramallah, 27 Jenin, 4 Tubas, 14 Tulkarm, 7 Qalqilya, 32 Nablus, 19 Salfit, 13 Jericho, 41 Bethlehem, 45 Hebron, 2 North Gaza,  and  4 Rafah.   Among them:  18 Children, 1 Women, 1 Journalist, 1 School Principle and  2 Security Force Officer.
Temporary Detention	11		11	07/07/ 2022, the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued a decision imposing house arrest on the citizen: Muhammad Musa Odeh - a resident of the city of Jerusalem, until 07/09/ 2022, in addition to obligating him to pay a fine. 07/09/ 2022, the Israeli occupation forces detained the child: Amir Aref Jaber, 17 years old, in the Old City of Hebron, after storming and searching his family's house, and released him at a later time. 07/10/2022, the Israeli occupation forces detained 2 citizens: Ahmed Sadiq Abu Bakr and Shalan Abu Bakr - both residents of Ya'bad town in Jenin governorate at a flying checkpoint near the entrance to the Masoudiya area near the village of Burqa, and released them. 07/12/2022, the Israeli occupation forces positioned at a flying checkpoint located at the entrance to the village of Ras Karkar temporarily detained 2 citizens: Ahmed Rajab Fakhida, and Yazan Thaer Fakhida, and released them at a later time. 07/13/ 2022, the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued a decision imposing house arrest for a period of 5 days on the child: Ahmed Al-Ajlouni 17 years - residents of the Old City of Jerusalem, and open house detention for the citizen: Wissam Naji Owaisat - residents of the Jabal Mukaber neighbourhood in the city Jerusalem. 07/14/2022, the Israeli occupation forces positioned at a flying checkpoint located at the entrance to Ras Karkar temporarily detained the child: Nidal Sharif Mazloum – a resident of Al-Janiya village, and released him. 07/15/2022, the Israeli occupation forces positioned at the Abu al-Rish checkpoint near the Ibrahimi Mosque in the Old City of Hebron temporarily detained the 14-year-old girl, Anwar Amer Burqan and released her later after conducting a field investigation. 07/23/2022, The Israeli occupation forces temporarily detained Bahjat Al-Jabarin (Chairman of Al-Dhahirah Municipal Council) near Shweika village, south of Al-Dhahirah town, while he was participating in a demonstration against land confiscation near Shweika village, south of Al-Dhahirah town, and released him later.

Home Demolition	11		11	The Israeli occupation forces demolished 11 homes during July 2022 including:  07/04/ 2022, the Israeli occupation forces, demolished a house (under construction) owned by: Muhammad Ibrahim al-Atimin al-Kaabneh in the Khashm al-Daraj area, east of Yatta, under the pretext of not having a permit. 07/04/2022, the Israeli occupation forces demolished a house belonging to the citizen: Nayef Ali Salama Kaabneh, in the Umm Qassah community of the Zuwaidin village council, east of Yatta. 07/04/2022, the Israeli occupation forces demolished a house (3 floors - under construction) owned by Omar Fahd Jaafara in Jabal Mukaber neighborhood in Jerusalem under the pretext of not having a license. 07/19/2022, Israeli occupation forces demolished a house (under construction) of 120 square meters, owned by Ali Krishan, near Aqabat Jabr camp in Jericho, under the pretext of not having a permit. 07/19/ 2022, the Israeli occupation forces demolished a house owned by the citizen: Zidan Jibril Nawaja, southeast of Yatta. 07/25/2022, the Israeli occupation forces demolished a house owned by the citizen: Najeh Taimat, in the Umm Qasas community, east of Yatta, on the pretext of not having a license. 07/25/2022, the Israeli occupation forces demolished a residential tent owned by the citizen: Muhammad Hassan Daoud, east of Yatta, in the Al Buwaib area, east of Yatta, and confiscated it. 07/25/2022, the Israeli occupation forces demolished a 70-square-meter house in Wadi Al-Awar in the village of Birin, south of Bani Naim, owned by: Hatem Taha Al-Salaymeh, under the pretext of not having a license. 07/26/2022, the Israeli occupation forces demolished 2 houses with explosives owned by the families of the two prisoners: Yahya Muhammad Awad Marei and Youssef Samih Assi (they are accused by the Israeli occupation forces of carrying out an operation at the entrance to the “Ariel” settlement several months ago) during their raid into town of Qarawat Bani Hassan. 07/27/2022, the Israeli occupation forces demolished a house owned by Reda Zalbani in the Sama Jericho area, under the pretext of not having a permit.

Land Confiscation	3		3	07/14/ 2022, the Israeli occupation forces issued a military order to confiscate more than 1,480 dunums of lands from the villages of Jalud, Qaryout, al-Mughayyir and the town of Turmusaya, in favor of expanding settlements and outposts surrounding the “Shilo” settlement built on citizens’ lands between the governorates of Nablus and Ramallah. 07/27/ 2022, the Israeli occupation forces issued a military order to confiscate 178 square meters near the entrance to the village of Al-Tawani, east of Yatta town. 07/28/ 2022, the Israeli occupation forces handed a military decision, to extend the validity of the confiscation of an area of (16,583) dunums of citizens’ lands belonging to the villages of Naqoura and Deir Sharaf, until the year 2027, under the pretext of military purposes.
Assault on Education Sector	1		1	07/28/ 2022, the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued a decision to cancel the permits of 6 private schools (Al-Iman Schools and Al-Ibrahimiya Schools) in East Jerusalem, under the pretext that they teach the Palestinian curriculum, and in an attempt to impose the Israeli curriculum on schools.
Attacks on Religious Sites	22		22	Under the protection of the occupation forces, settlers continue to storm the courtyards of the sacred Al-Aqsa Mosque, performing Talmudic prayers and provoking the worshipers. On 07/19/ 2022, a Israeli settler on Nablus Street in Jerusalem broke into the (Saad and Said) mosque, and performed the Talmudic rituals.
Settlement Activity	4		4	7/3/2022, the occupation forces built a piece of land from the village of Jinsafut, with the aim of expanding the outpost "Aloni Shilo". 07/19/ 2022, the Israeli occupation authorities approved the structural plan No. 4/2/225, according to which more than 114 new settlement housing units will be built on an area estimated at 150 dunums in the outpost "Mitzpe Dani" located east of Ramallah governorate. 07/26/ 2022, Israeli occupation authorities approved a detailed plan bearing the number (1/2/212), which provides for the confiscation of 258 dunums of citizens’ lands belonging to the town of Beit Liqia and the village of Beit Nuba, in favor of expanding the settlement of “Movo Horon” by establishing 251 settlement units. In addition to roads, institutions, a parking lot, a cemetery, and others, the plan was filed to object to it within 60 days. 07/26/ 2022, the Israeli occupation authorities approved a plan to build 1,446 new housing units in the “Lower Canal” settlement built on the lands of Sur Baher village, located between the settlements of “Har Homa” and “Givat Hamatos”.

Arrests

During the month of July 2022, the Israeli military arrested 383 Palestinians {377 in the West Bank and 6 in the Gaza Strip). The majority of arrests took place in the districts: 88 Jerusalem,87 Ramallah, 27 Jenin, 4 Tubas, 14 Tulkarm, 7 Qalqilya, 32 Nablus, 19 Salfit, 13 Jericho, 41 Bethlehem, 45 Hebron, 2 North Gaza, and 4 Rafah.

Especially on Fridays, the Israeli military continues to intensify restrictions at checkpoints located at the entrances of Jerusalem, and to restrict entrance to the Al Aqsa Mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem, preventing worshippers from accessing the Mosque. At the Qalandiya checkpoint north of Jerusalem, the Israeli military continues to prevent PNA registered civilian vehicles from crossing the checkpoint towards Ar Ram and Qalandiya as well as Dahiyat al Bareed. The checkpoint is overcrowded daily, particularly during rush hours, due to intensified restrictions and search measures applied by Israeli troops. During the month of July 2022 ,the Israeli military also continued to intensify restrictions at the Tayasir checkpoint and Al Hamra junction checkpoint leading to the Jordan Valley area, only allowing access to civilians whose IDs indicate District of Jericho residence or others holding special access permits. In addition, restrictions were intensified and civilian access was obstructed at the Za’tara junction checkpoint (separating the northern and central West Bank districts) as well as at the As Sawahira ash Sharqiya (the ‘Container’) checkpoint (separating the central and southern West Bank districts).

The Israeli military installed 207 checkpoints in July 2022 (Compared with 195 checkpoints in June 2022 and 361 checkpoints in May 2022 and as a result restricted the free access and movement of residents, merchant supplies and agricultural goods.

The Israeli military set up Flying checkpoints in the month of July 2022 and searched Palestinian civilians and vehicles in and around Palestinian residential areas in the districts of Jerusalem (12); Ramallah (31); Jenin (22); Tubas (1),Tulkarem (2),  Qalqiliya (21); Nablus (15); Salfit (19); Jericho (11); Bethlehem (52)and Hebron (21).

The Israeli military carried out a total of  410 raids in Palestinian residential areas during the month of July 2022, including  in the West Bank and  in the Gaza Strip. The majority of Israeli military raids were reported to have taken place in the districts of Jerusalem (24); Ramallah (58); Jenin (68); Tubas (5), Tulkarem (48); Qalqiliya (22); Nablus (45); Salfit (28); Jericho (12); Bethlehem (54); Hebron (43) , Gaza (1), and Rafah (2).

 

A total of 207 attacks were reported to have taken place during the month of July 2022 (207  in the West Bank and 0 in the Gaza Strip) which included  49 from raids into Palestinian towns, villages and camps, 123 from positions at Military checkpoints, 44 from positions at Military posts and 46 from Naval vessels.

• 07/09/2022, a group of Israeli settlers from the “Kiryat Arba” settlement, located east of Hebron, attacked the homes and properties of citizens in the Jaber neighborhood in the old city of Hebron during which Israeli occupation force fired tear gas canisters towards towards the citizens, while trying to confront the settlers.
• 07/18/ 2022, a group of Israeli settlers of the “Beit Ain” settlement in the Khallet Ghunaimat area in the town of Surif attacked the homes of citizens with stones and batons, and set fire to 30 olive trees in addition to the forest trees owned by my families: Ghunaimat and Abu Fara, and during which the Israeli occupation forces fired stun and tear gas canisters towards citizens, who were trying to confront the Israeli settlers, as a result left a number of civilians suffocated due to inhaling the tear gas.
• 07/20/2022, a group of Israeli settlers in the area of Al-Baq'a, near the "Kiryat Arba" settlement, located east of Hebron, set up a number of tents on land owned by Hamouda Jaber, in preparation for their seizure and the establishment of a settlement outpost in the place.
• 07/21/2022, a group of Israeli settlers entered the agricultural lands of the citizens near Beit Ainun village, north of Hebron, in an attempt to establish a new settlement outpost in the place.
• 07/21/2022, a group of Israeli settlers in the Al-Jawaya area, southeast of Yatta, attacked a number of shepherds (of those identified): Mamdouh Daajneh and Muhammad Mahmoud Idais, forcing them to leave the pastoral lands.
• 07/21/2022, a group of Israeli settlers entered the agricultural lands of the citizens in the Al Buwayra area, east of Hebron, and set up a number of tents, in an attempt to establish a new settlement outpost in the place.
• 07/21/2022, a group of Israeli settlers from the settlement of "Ramat Yishai", which is established in the Tel Rumeida neighborhood in the old city of Hebron, attacked the homes of citizens in the neighborhood, and beat the son of the citizen: Riyad Abu Hazaa, which led to him bruised and directed racist insults to homeowners, threatening them with death and the seizure of their homes.
• 07/22/2022, a group of Israeli settlers entered the lands of the citizens of the village of Umm al-Khair, located near the “Karmiel” settlement, east of the town of Yatta, and set up several residential tents outside the colony’s fence, with the aim of settlement expansion, as the citizens tried to confront them and prevent them from complete its scheme.
• 07/22/2022, a group of Israeli settlers entered the Fara’a area of Dura town, located near the “Adora” settlement, and demolished an agricultural well owned by: Nour Suleiman Hajja.
• 07/23/2022, a group of Israeli settlers, under the protection of the Israeli occupation forces, attacked a number of Palestinian farmers.
• 07/26/2022, a group of armed Israeli settlers from the settlements of “Mitzpe Yair” and “Susiya” located east of the town of Yatta entered the agricultural lands of the citizens in the Akweis area, and attacked the farmers with batons, insulting them with profanity, and grazing their livestock in crops of wheat and barley and olive saplings, which caused the destruction of crops and the cracking of olive saplings.

 

Border crossings with Israel: were closed  108 times (Beit Hanoun - Erez crossing was open 26 times  , with the exception of humanitarian cases, the Shejaiya crossing - Nahal Oz was completely and unilaterally closed by the Israeli side on 01/04/2010, as well as the Muntar-Karni crossing was closed unilaterally from Before the Israeli side, on 02/03/2011, the Kerem Shalom-Kerem Shalom crossing opened for 21 days for the entry of food, humanitarian aid, fodder and a quantity of cooking gas, cement and iron for the benefit of UNRWA projects and internationally funded projects, while the Sufa crossing was closed throughout the month.
