The following summary tables and overview of events survey hostile Israeli activities during the period 01 July 2017 to July 31 2017. The report includes a summary table of events, classified by type, throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, in addition to a comparative table surveying events over the past three months. The survey is compiled from the Daily Situation Reports of the Palestinian Monitoring Group (PMG) of the Negotiations Affairs Department (NAD) of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The PMG monitors ground conditions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, including Israeli and Palestinian violations. The information reported through the PMG process represents data available at the time of distribution only. 

 

 

Sample of Israeli Violations during the Month of July  2017

  • 2 July: Israeli forces positioned near the entrance of Al-Mughier village fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning and as a result injured 3 residents including the child Mohammad Attallah Mohammad Abu Aliya {16 years old}.
  • 4 July: Israeli forces raided Al-Far'a camp, clashed with several residents as they stormed and searched several homes and as a result injured 2 residents {including a child}: Mustafa Faris Sawalmah {15 years old} and Mazin Ahmad Bassam Sabah.
  • 7 July: The infant : Abdel-Rahman Mahmoud Al-Barghouthi {1 year and 7 months old}{A resident of Abboud town} died from complications after he suffocated from tear gas inhalation during clashes in Aboud town as residents demonstrated in solidarity with Palestinian detainees on hunger strike {as mentioned in the May 20th 2017 Report}.
  • 9 July: Israeli forces injured the child: Nour Ayman Hamdan {14 years old} during confrontations in Al-Eisawiya village.
  • 10 July: Israeli forces positioned at the west junction of Teqou' town opened fire towards and killed Mohammad Ibrahim Ahmad Jibril {25 years old} {A resident of Teqou' town} as he allegedly attempted to run over Israeli soldiers with his vehicle.
  • 12 July: Israeli forces killed 2 residents {including a child}: Aweis Mohammad Yusef Salamah {17 years old} and Sa'ed Nassar Hassan Abdel-Fattah Salah {21 years old} as they stormed and searched several homes during their raid into Jenin camp.
  • 14 July: Israeli forces fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning as they stormed and searched several homes during their raid into Al-Duhisheh camp in Bethlehem city and as a result killed Bara Ismail Hamadah {21 years old and injured 2 unidentified residents.
  • 15 July: Israeli forces raided Awarta and Beit Rima towns, Mazari' Al-Nubani, Deir Al-Sudan and Kafr Ein villages, stormed and searched several homes and a chicken coup in Kafr Ein village and opened fire towards Ammar Ahmad Khalil Al-Terawi {33 years old} and as a result killed him and injured another resident who was later detained.
  • 16 July: Israeli Naval vessels opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats and injured 2 fishermen: Ibrahim Al-Jahujo and Khader Abu Shamla off the shores of Khan Yunis city.
  • 18 July: Israeli forces positioned near Beit Einun village junction opened fire towards Ra'fat Shukri Al-Hirbawi {29 years old} {a resident of Hebron city} and as a result killed him for allegedly running over 2 Israeli soldiers.
  • 19 July: The child Wajdan Firas Al-Ja'bari {10 years old} was hospitalized after a Israeli settler driving his vehicle along the main road in Wadi Al-Hassin area located near "Kiryat Arba'" settlement located in east Hebron city ran her over.
  • 20 July: Israeli forces positioned near the North entrance of Teqou' town opened fire towards Mohammad Hussien Ahmad Tanouh {26 years old}{A resident of Teqou' town} and as a result killed him
  • 21 July: A Israeli settler  opened fire towards and killed Mohammad Mahmoud Sharaf {17 years old} in Ras Al-Amoud neighborhood in Jerusalem city
  • 21 July: Israeli forces opened fire towards and killed Mohammad Hassan Abu Ghannam {20 years old} during clashes in Al-Tur neighborhood in Jerusalem city.
  • 21 July: Israeli forces positioned in Al-Eizariya and Abu Dis towns fired live ammunition, fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning as they participated in demonstrations protesting against the Israeli Military restrictions in Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and as a result killed Mohammad Khalaf Lafi {18 years old}in Abu Dis town.
  • 22 July: Israeli forces positioned in Al-Eizariya town fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning and as a result critically injured Yusef Abbas Kashur {21 years old} who later died of injuries he sustained.
  • 22 July: An Israeli Military UXO exploded in Tubas town and as a result killed the child UdayAzziz Khalil Nawaj'a {17 years old} {a resident of Khirbiet Ibziq town located in the North Jordan valley}.
  • 27 July: Mohammad Fathi Abdel-Jabbar Kan'an {26 years old} {A resident of Hizma town} died of serious injuries sustained during clashes with Israeli forces {as mentioned in the report of July 25th 2017}.
  • 28 July: Israeli forces positioned near "Kafr Itsiyon" settlement junction opened fire towards and killed Abdallah Ali Mahmoud Taqatqa {24 years old} {A resident of Marah Rabah village}.
  • 28 July: Israeli forces positioned at "Al-Mahkama" Military checkpoint located near "Bet El" settlement in North Al-Bireh city fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning and as a result injured 10 residents {including 2 children}{ of those identified are}: Yahya Jamal Hussien Muslih {14 years old}, Mohammad Razaq Jarradat {15 years old}, Raed Adnan Sarsour and Mujahid Hassan Al-Shini  and left 5 others suffocated from tear gas inhalation.
  • 28 July: Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire and launched tear gas grenades towards several demonstrators in east Al-Buriej camp and as a result killed the child Abdel-Rahman Hassan Abu Hamshiya {16 years old} and injured 2 residents.
  • 28 July: Israeli forces positioned near "Barghat" settlement junction near Huwara Military checkpoint in south Nablus city fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning and as a result injured 12 residents {including a journalist and 2 children}{of those identified are}: Ayman Amin Nubani, Omar Ahmad Yusef Dweikat {16 years old} and Mohammad Salamah Mohammad Hanini {16 years old} and left 34 others suffocated from tear gas inhalation.
  • 30 July: Israeli forces injured 2 children: Bassam Ibrahim Amuri {17 years old} and Mohammad Salamah Osama Alawnah {17 years old} during clashes in Jenin camp.

The Israeli military carried out 31 attacks during confrontations between the Israeli military and Palestinians, 33 attacks from Israeli military post on civilian homes and property, 167 from Military checkpoints towards Palestinian residents and vehicle and 70 during raids into Civilian populated areas. During the month of July 2017, the Israeli military Occupied  11 Palestinian homes and converted their rooftops into Military posts which consisted of the following: 

Jerusalem:

  • July 22nd 2017: Israeli forces raided Bab Hata area then occupied several homes and converted their rooftops into Military posts.
  • July 22nd 2017: Israeli forces positioned at Qalandiya Military checkpoint fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning and as a result left several residents suffocated from gas inhalation and occupied several homes and converted their rooftops into Military posts.

Qalqiliya:

  • July 27th 2017: The Israeli forces renewed a military order to extend the conversion of a house located in north-east of Azzun town which is owned by Mohammed Rasem Hussein, into a military post until 02.01.2017, after it was occupied at the beginning of this month. Evacuation began on the evening of July 26th 2017.

Bethlehem:

  • July 23rd 2017: Israeli forces raided Khirbeit Al-Deir village occupied the home of Mohammed Ali Isma'il Musa then converted its rooftops into Military posts.
  • July 23rd 2017: Israeli forces raided the Aida camp in Bethlehem city and occupied the Coca-Cola Company factory then converted the rooftop into Military post.
  • July 24th 2017: Israeli forces raided Bethlehem city and and occupied the Coca-Cola Company factory then converted the rooftop into Military post.

Hebron:

  • July 24th 2017: Israeli forces raided the old city of Hebron, occupied 3 homes owned by Atta Mohammad Abdel-Hakeem Al-Shweiki, Shaker Musa Kafshiya and Talib Abu Rajjab homes and converted their rooftops into Military posts.
  • July 26th 2017: Israeli forces raided Khursa village and occupied the home of Yusef Ayed Al-Shahjatit then converted the rooftop into Military post.

Home Demolitions

During the month of July 2017, the Israeli military demolished 13 Palestinian homes and residential tents, which consisted of the following: 

  • July 3rd 2017: Israeli forces stormed Sur Baher village and forced Mohammad Fuwaqa to demolish 2 homes {alleging that the land the homes are built on are Green Lands} and forced him to pay the cost of the demolition.
  • July 4th 2017: The Israeli Military forced Mohammad Ali Nasser Al-Assi to demolish his own home in Al-Eisawiya village for allegedly being built without a license then made him pay a fine.
  • July 4th 2017: Israeli forces demolished 3 homes owned by Mohammad Abu Subieh {1 home} and Mohammad Khaled Raba'ya {2 homes} in Beit Hanina town for allegedly being built without a license.
  • July 11th 2017: Israeli forces demolished a 4 floor Apartment building {under-construction} owned by Abdel-Ra'uf Mahmoud and Lo'ai Obied during their raid into Al-Eisawiya village for allegedly being built without a license.
  • July 12th 2017: Israeli forces demolished a home {200 m2} owned by Musa Obiyat in Jabal Al-Mukabir neighborhood in Jerusalem city for allegedly being built without a license.
  • July 12th 2017: Israeli forces demolished a home owned by Salah Shweiky in Bi'er Ayoub area in Silwan neighborhood in Jerusalem city for allegedly being built without a license.
  • July 17th 2017: Israeli forces demolished a home owned by Al-Daya family for allegedly being built without a license in Al-Za'im village.

  • July 3rd 2017: An Israeli Police officer stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound and raised the Israeli flag in a provocative manner.
  • July 14th 2017: Israeli forces closed all main gate entrances leading to Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and prevented worshipers from conducting Friday prayers and forced residents to pray outside the gate of Al-Aqsa mosque compound during which the Israeli Minister of Interior and several Israeli Police and Military force officers stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound {after a shootout between 3 armed individuals carrying Israeli Identification cards {All are residents of Um Al-Fahim city located inside Israel}.
  • July 14th 2017: Israeli forces closed all main gate entrances leading to Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and prevented worshipers from conducting Friday prayers and forced residents to pray outside the gate of Al-Aqsa mosque compound during which the Israeli Minister of Interior and several Israeli Police and Military force officers stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
  • July 15th 2017: Israeli forces continued its closure of all the main gate entrances leading to Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and prevented worshipers from conducting friday prayers and forced residents to pray outside the gate of Al-Aqsa mosque compound during which the Israeli Minister of Interior and several Israeli Police and Military force officers stormed and searched Al-Aqsa mosque compound including the Dome of the Rock.
  • July 16th 2017: Israeli Authorities continued its closure of all gates leading to Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem and prevented residents from conducting prayers in the Mosque for the 3rd consecutive day then reopened it after Installing Surveillance camera on the Mosque gates and installed Metal Detectors to search worshipers who enter the mosque. Israeli Authorities also refused to return the keys for Bab al-Asbatt {Lions' Gate}, Bab al-Majlis‎‎ {The Council Gate} and Bab Al-Malik Faysal {Gate of Darkness} in an attempt to change the old cities Muslim quarter status quo established in 1967 and during which the Muslim Waqif council {The council overseeing religious affairs for Al-Aqsa mosque compound} refused to accept the new restrictions imposed on Muslim worshipers entering the mosque and demonstrated their dissatisfaction to the new restrictions by conducting prayers near the gates leading to Al-Aqsa mosque compound.

  • July 25th 2017: The Israeli forces installed surveillance cameras above the disinfectant located between Bab Al-Majlis and Bab Al-Asbat gates (Entrance gates leading to Al Aqsa Mosque) from the outside in the Old City of Jerusalem.

  • July 27th 2017: Israeli forces stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound and Musalah Al-Qibli {Al-Qibli Prayer area} in an attempt to remove several worshiper inside the mosque fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters and as a result injured 15 residents then detained 21 residents and temporarily detained 80 residents then released them after interrogation by Israeli Intelligence officers.
  • July 3rd 2017: Israeli forces stormed and searched Billal Bin Rabah mosque during their raid into Bir Al-Basha village.

Jerusalem:

  • July 17th 2017: Israeli forces stormed Al-Maqasid Hospital in Jerusalem city and detained Alaa Tawfiq Abu Yata {who was critically injured} as he was undergoing surgery.
  • July 18th 2017: Israeli forces positioned at Bab Al-Assbat gate {a main gate entrance leading to Al-Aqsa Mosque compound} in the old city of Jerusalem fired stun grenades towards an Ambulance (Palestinian Red Crescent) and assaulted a paramedic as he was in the ambulance.
  • July 19th 2017: ,Israeli forces disrupted the work of the medical staff at Al-Makkassid Islamic Charitable Hospital located in Bab Al-Ghawanmah area located in Jerusalem city since closing down and placing metal detectors around the main gate leading to Al-Aqsa mosque compound and also blocked the enter of medical staff by pacing checkpoints in the area around the hospital.
  • July 21st  2017: Israeli forces fired stun and tear gas grenades towards inside sections of Al-Makassed Hospital as they attempted to detained several wounded individuals

Hebron:

  • July 21st 2017: Israeli forces raided Hebron Governmental Hospital then stormed and searched the hospital.

Jerusalem:

  • July 4th 2017: Israeli forces levelled a plot of agricultural land owned by Tarik Abu Sabatin in Al-Za'im village.
  • July 5th 2017:  Israeli Planning and Construction Authorities of the city Municipality in occupied Jerusalem City approved the construction of 196 new settlement units {98 settlement units in "Ramat Shlomo" settlement, 18 settlement units in Beit Hanina town and 80 settlement units in "Ramout" settlement} which are all on land occupied since 1967.
  • July 12th 2017: the Israeli Government approved plans for the construction of new 798 settlement units {276 settlements in Pisgat Za'iv settlement, 120 settlements in Navya Yacoub settlement, 200 settlements in Ramot settlement and 202 settlements in Gilo settlement} located in east Jerusalem city on land occupied in 1967.
  • July 18th 2017: Israeli authorities approved the construction of 941 new settlement units { 355 units in "Gilo" settlement, 250 settlement units in "Ramot" settlement, 220 settlement units in "Al-Navi Yacub" settlement, 116 units in "Pizgat Za'iv" settlement} on land occupied in 1967 in east Jerusalem city.

Nablus:

  • July 19th 2017: Israeli forces levelled 20 dunums of agricultural land owned by the estate of Ahmad Abdel-Haj Mohammad which is near "Suvut Arahil" settlement located in Jallud village in an attempt to expand the settlement.

Injuries

A total of 348 injuries were reported in the month of July 2017 (330 Palestinians in the West Bank and 18in the Gaza Strip). Injuries included 19 children and 2 Fishermen.

Arrests

During the month of July 2017, the Israeli military arrested 592 Palestinians (585 the West Bank and 7in the Gaza Strip). The majority of arrests took place in the districts of Jerusalem (168); Ramallah (62); Jenin (41); Tubas (6) Tulkarem (32); Qalqiliya (34); Nablus (51); Salfit (17); Jericho (8); Bethlehem (54); Hebron (112). North Gaza (2), Central Gaza (1) and Khan Yunis (4).

 Among those arrested by the Israeli military were: 40 children, 5 women, 5 Security officers, 2 PLC Members, 2 University students and 3 journalists.

Israeli forces temporarily detained 167 Palestinians including 6 Children, 2 Women, 2 fishermen and 5 Security Force Officers.

Closure

Especially on Fridays, the Israeli military continues to intensify restrictions at checkpoints located at the entrances of Jerusalem, and to restrict entrance to the Al Aqsa Mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem, preventing worshippers from accessing the Mosque. At the Qalandiya checkpoint north of Jerusalem, the Israeli military continues to prevent PNA registered civilian vehicles from crossing the checkpoint towards Ar Ram and Qalandiya as well as Dahiyat al Bareed. The checkpoint is overcrowded daily, particularly during rush hours, due to intensified restrictions and search measures applied by Israeli troops. During the month of January the Israeli military also continued to intensify restrictions at the Tayasir checkpoint and Al Hamra junction checkpoint leading to the Jordan Valley area, only allowing access to civilians whose IDs indicate District of Jericho residence or others holding special access permits. In addition, restrictions were intensified and civilian access was obstructed at the Za’tara junction checkpoint (separating the northern and central West Bank districts) as well as at the As Sawahira ash Sharqiya (the ‘Container’) checkpoint (separating the central and southern West Bank districts).

The Israeli military installed 527 flying checkpoints in July 2017 (compared with 386 in June 2017 and 455 in May 2017) and as a result restricted the free access and movement of residents, merchant supplies and agricultural goods.

The  Israeli military set up 527 flying checkpoints in the month of July 2017 and searched Palestinian civilians and vehicles in and around Palestinian residential areas in the districts of Jerusalem (20); Ramallah (93); Jenin (18); Tubas (7) ; Tulkarem (15); Qalqiliya (86); Nablus (41); Salfit (41); Jericho (29); Bethlehem (96) and Hebron (81).

Raids

The Israeli military carried out a total of 581 raids in Palestinian residential areas during the month of July 2017, including 573 in the West Bank and 8 in the Gaza Strip. The majority of Israeli military raids were reported to have taken place in the districts of Jerusalem (40); Ramallah (81); Jenin (56); Tubas (14); Tulkarem (35); Qalqiliya (35); Nablus (62); Salfit (19); Jericho (5); Bethlehem (97); Hebron (109); North Gaza (5) ,Gaza (1) Central Gaza (1) and Khan Yunis (1).

Attacks

A total of 327 attacks were reported to have taken place during the month of July 2017 (271 in the West Bank and 56 in the Gaza Strip).

The Israeli military carried out 31 attacks during confrontations between the Israeli military and Palestinians, 33 attacks from Israeli military post on civilian homes and property, 167 from Military checkpoints towards Palestinian residents and vehicle and 70 during raids into Civilian populated areas. In addition, Israeli navy vessels carried out 25 attacks on Palestinian fishermen and territory and 1 from settler attack.

Attacks on residential areas in The West Bank and Gaza districts

 

Home Demolition

 

During the month of July 2017, the Israeli military demolished 10 Palestinian homes and residential tents, which consisted of the following: 

Jerusalem:

  • July 3rd 2017: Israeli forces stormed Sur Baher village and forced Mohammad Fuwaqa to demolish 2 homes {alleging that the land the homes are built on are Green Lands} and forced him to pay the cost of the demolition.
  • July 4th 2017: The Israeli Military forced Mohammad Ali Nasser Al-Assi to demolish his own home in Al-Eisawiya village for allegedly being built without a license then made him pay a fine.
  • July 4th 2017: Israeli forces demolished 3 homes owned by Mohammad Abu Subieh {1 home} and Mohammad Khaled Raba'ya {2 homes} in Beit Hanina town for allegedly being built without a license.
  • July 11th 2017: Israeli forces demolished a 4 floor Apartment building {under-construction} owned by Abdel-Ra'uf Mahmoud and Lo'ai Obied during their raid into Al-Eisawiya village for allegedly being built without a license.
  • July 12th 2017: Israeli forces demolished a home {200 m2} owned by Musa Obiyat in Jabal Al-Mukabir neighborhood in Jerusalem city for allegedly being built without a license.
  • July 12th 2017: Israeli forces demolished a home owned by Salah Shweiky in Bi'er Ayoub area in Silwan neighborhood in Jerusalem city for allegedly being built without a license.
  • July 17th 2017: Israeli forces demolished a home owned by Al-Daya family for allegedly being built without a license in Al-Za'im village.

Home Occupation:

During the month of July 2017, the Israeli military Occupied 11 Palestinian homes and converted their rooftops into Military posts which consisted of the following: 

Jerusalem:

  • July 22nd 2017: Israeli forces raided Bab Hata area then occupied several homes and converted their rooftops into Military posts.
  • July 22nd 2017: Israeli forces positioned at Qalandiya Military checkpoint fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning and as a result left several residents suffocated from gas inhalation and occupied several homes and converted their rooftops into Military posts.

Qalqiliya:

  • July 27th 2017: The Israeli forces renewed a military order to extend the conversion of a house located in north-east of Azzun town which is owned by Mohammed Rasem Hussein, into a military post until 02.01.2017, after it was occupied at the beginning of this month. Evacuation began on the evening of July 26th 2017.

Bethlehem:

  • July 23rd 2017: Israeli forces raided Khirbeit Al-Deir village occupied the home of Mohammed Ali Isma'il Musa then converted its rooftops into Military posts.
  • July 23rd 2017: Israeli forces raided the Aida camp in Bethlehem city and occupied the Coca-Cola Company factory then converted the rooftop into Military post.
  • July 24th 2017: Israeli forces raided Bethlehem city and and occupied the Coca-Cola Company factory then converted the rooftop into Military post.

Hebron:

  • July 24th 2017: Israeli forces raided the old city of Hebron, occupied 3 homes owned by Atta Mohammad Abdel-Hakeem Al-Shweiki, Shaker Musa Kafshiya and Talib Abu Rajjab homes and converted their rooftops into Military posts.
  • July 26th 2017: Israeli forces raided Khursa village and occupied the home of Yusef Ayed Al-Shahjatit then converted the rooftop into Military post.

Assault on Medical Sector

Jerusalem:

  • July 17th 2017: Israeli forces stormed Al-Maqasid Hospital in Jerusalem city and detained Alaa Tawfiq Abu Yata {who was critically injured} as he was undergoing surgery.
  • July 18th 2017: Israeli forces positioned at Bab Al-Assbat gate {a main gate entrance leading to Al-Aqsa Mosque compound} in the old city of Jerusalem fired stun grenades towards an Ambulance (Palestinian Red Crescent) and assaulted a paramedic as he was in the ambulance.
  • July 19th 2017: ,Israeli forces disrupted the work of the medical staff at Al-Makkassid Islamic Charitable Hospital located in Bab Al-Ghawanmah area located in Jerusalem city since closing down and placing metal detectors around the main gate leading to Al-Aqsa mosque compound and also blocked the enter of medical staff by pacing checkpoints in the area around the hospital.
  • July 21st  2017: Israeli forces fired stun and tear gas grenades towards inside sections of Al-Makassed Hospital as they attempted to detained several wounded individuals

Hebron:

July 21st 2017: Israeli forces raided Hebron Governmental Hospital then stormed and searched the hospital.

Attacks on Public and Private Property

Attack on Public and Private property occurred as follows per District:

Jerusalem:

  • July 3rd 2017: Israeli forces installed barbed wire fencing around a section of "Al-Yuseifa" Islamic Cemetery {which is located near the east walls of Al-Aqsa mosque" for the purpose of constructing a Settler park area.
  • July 4th 2017: Israeli forces demolished a livestock Den owned by Imad Shabaneh in Wadi Yasul area located in Silwan neighborhood in Jerusalem city for allegedly being built without a license.
  • July 12th 2017: Israeli forces demolished a Carwash and a storage room in Bi'er Ayoub area in Silwan neighborhood in Jerusalem City for allegedly being built without a license.
  • July 24th 2017: Israeli forces stormed Ein Al-Louz area located in Silwan neighborhood of Jerusalem city and forced merchants to close down their shops.

Ramallah:

  • July 4th 2017: Israeli forces raided Silwad town, served a military order for the demolition of the family home of Malik Ahmad Hamad {who was killed by Israeli forces} and gave the family 48 hours to remove their personal belongings and evacuate the premises.
  • July 4th 2017: Israeli forces raided Deir Abu Mash'al village, served military orders for the demolition of 3 homes owned by the families of Bara Ibrahim Salah, Adel Hassan Ahmad Anqoush and Osama Ahmad Attah {who were killed by Israeli Forces} and gave the families 48 hours to remove their personal belongings and evacuate the premises.

Jenin:

  • July 22nd 2017: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Thaher Al-Malah village located near Ya'bad town, damaged doors of several homes and merchant shops then withdrew under the protection of Israeli Military forces.

Nablus:

  • July 3rd 2017: Israeli forces prevented Jawad Yusef Darwish from entering Ras Al-Nakhel area located in Qusra village in order to farm his agricultural land near the south east area of the village and also prevented a bulldozer owned by Mohammad Bader Zien Al-Din {A resident of Majdal Bani Fadil} from working on his plot of land for allegedly being located in area C which is under Israeli Military and Administrative Authority.
  • July 5th 2017: Israeli forces damaged several merchant shops owned by Nabhani and Ishtewi families and Ahmad Photography Studio and also damaged Maher Al-Kharamah's vehicles and caused damage to Al-Hilo pharmacy during their raid into Balata camp in Nablus city.

Bethlehem:

  • July 6th 2017: Israeli forces closed down a steel mill owned by Abu Tarboush family during their raid into Al-Doha town.
  • July 22nd 2017:  A group of Israeli settlers positioned at Beit Einoun junction assaulted several residents and stoned their vehicles and as a result injured 4 residents and damaged a vehicle owned by Ghassan Abu Ramoz.

Hebron:

  • .July 2nd 2017: Israeli forces broke open the doors of Al-Taqwa mosque after storming and searching it as they raided Al-Samou' town.
  • July 12th 2017: Israeli forces detonated open the doors of Zuwana building as they stormed and searched it during their raid of Dura.
  • July 18th 2017: Israeli forces raided Al-Arub camp, clashed with several residents and served a military orders to halt construction on 2 homes owned by Ahmad Issa Ghanam and Abdel-Fattah Silmi Jawabrah for allegedly being built without a license.

Confiscation of Property:

Ramallah:

  • July 3rd 2017: Israeli forces confiscated 4 computers as they stormed the office of Atef Thiyab Sjaker Assi during their raid into Beit Liqya town.
  • July 22nd 2017: Israeli forces raided Kobar village, closed the main entrances with dirt mounds, clashed with several residents and as a result injured 4 residents, temporarily detained Mohammad Asfour Al-Barghouthi and confiscated 5250 NIS then withdrew at 16:00.
  • July 24th 2017: Israeli forces confiscated surveillance camera footage from a gas station during their raid into Al-Nabi Saleh village.
  • July 25th 2017: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Ammar Salah Al-Barghouthi during their raid into Kobar village.

Jenin:

  • July 23rd 2017:  Israeli forces confiscated 20000 NIS owned by Ghassan Abdel-Wahab after storming and searching his home during their raid into Jenin camp.

Tubas:

  • July 5th 2017: Israeli forces stormed Al-Hama area located in the North Jordan valley confiscated Electricity Generating Solar panels owned by Mohammad Awad Ayoub and Hani Mahmoud Awad Ayoub {C.E.Os of GVC Association}.
  • July 19th 2017: Israeli forces confiscated several electronic equipment’s, a water pump, a water meter and electrical line as they stormed Khirbet Hima area in the North Jordan valley.
  • July 19th 2017: Israeli forces confiscated 2 agricultural tractors owned by Muwafaq Fakhri Daraghma and Ahmad Daraghma in Ras Al-Hamra area in the North Jordan Valley.

Tulkarem:

  • July 24th 2017: Israeli forces positioned at a flying checkpoint located at the entrance of Shufa village confiscated 3 identification cards owned by Abdallah Rashid Suwadin, Sameer Al-Khatib and Ammar Ibrahim Alawi {all are residents of Nablus city}.

Nablus:

  • July 4th 2017: Israeli force confiscated a vehicle owned by Waheed Ghassan Jabarah after detaining him during their raid into Salem village.

Bethlehem:

  • July 6th 2017: Israeli forces confiscating equipment from a steel mill owned by Abu Tarboush family after closing it down during their raid into Al-Doha town.
  • July 7th 2017: Israeli forces confiscated surveillance camera footage as they stormed a merchant shop owned by Awad Salah during their raid into Um Al-Rakaba area located in Al-Kahder town.
  • July 17th 2017: Israeli forces confiscated cash from Ziyad Hassan Awad's home during their raid into Ithna town.
  • July 24th 2017: Israeli forces confiscated an Aluminum den {used as cold beverage and Ice shop} owned by Mohammad Ali Katoush during their raid into Betar village.

Hebron:

  •  July 4th 2017: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle and sims of cash owned by Jawad Issa Ibrahim Al-Harub after detaining him during their raid into Deir Sammit village
  • July 16th 2017: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Arafat Issa Al-Za'aqiq during their raid into Beit Ummar town.
  • July 17th 2017: Israeli forces confiscated cash from Ziyad Hassan Awad's home during their raid into Ithna town.
  • July 20th 2017: Israeli forces confiscated a computer and a Telephone from the home of Ibrahim Al-Husseini after detaining him
  • July 26th 2017: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle and 7000NIS owned by Wa’ed Arafat Al-Hadimi after detaining him as they stormed and searched his home during their raid into Surif town.

 Settlement Activity:

Jerusalem:

  • July 4th 2017: Israeli forces levelled a plot of agricultural land owned by Tarik Abu Sabatin in Al-Za'im village.
  • July 5th 2017:  Israeli Planning and Construction Authorities of the city Municipality in occupied Jerusalem City approved the construction of 196 new settlement units {98 settlement units in "Ramat Shlomo" settlement, 18 settlement units in Beit Hanina town and 80 settlement units in "Ramout" settlement} which are all on land occupied since 1967.
  • July 12th 2017: the Israeli Government approved plans for the construction of new 798 settlement units {276 settlements in Pisgat Za'iv settlement, 120 settlements in Navya Yacoub settlement, 200 settlements in Ramot settlement and 202 settlements in Gilo settlement} located in east Jerusalem city on land occupied in 1967.
  • July 18th 2017: Israeli authorities approved the construction of 941 new settlement units { 355 units in "Gilo" settlement, 250 settlement units in "Ramot" settlement, 220 settlement units in "Al-Navi Yacub" settlement, 116 units in "Pizgat Za'iv" settlement} on land occupied in 1967 in east Jerusalem city.

Nablus:

  • July 19th 2017: Israeli forces levelled 20 dunums of agricultural land owned by the estate of Ahmad Abdel-Haj Mohammad which is near "Suvut Arahil" settlement located in Jallud village in an attempt to expand the settlement.

 Settler Violence

53 incidents of Settler violence occurred during the month of July 2017 including:

Jerusalem:

  • July 5th 2017: a group of Israeli settlers and a settler guard located in Batn Al-Hawa area in Silwan neighborhood assaulted several children and as a result injured 2 children: Yazan Al-Rajabi and Mahdi Qar'a'in and stormed a merchant shop owned by Maher Abdel Wahad and sprayed pepper spray onto the face of his wife and infant child and as a result left them hospitalized.
  • July 11th 2017: An Israeli settler vehicle ran over an unidentified resident near Al-Eizariya town and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions during which several local residents temporarily detained the settlers before handing them over to Israeli Military forces.
  • July 21th 2017: An Israeli settler positioned near Ras Al-Amoud neighborhood in Jerusalem city opened fire towards the child Mohammad Mahmoud Sharaf {17 years old} and as a result killed him.
  • July 23rd 2017: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Jerusalem city then gathered near the city roads then proceeded to raise Israeli flags at Al-Assbat gate {A main gate entrance leading to Al-Aqsa Mosque compound}.
  • July 24th 2017: An Israeli settler positioned near “Ma’alee Adumim” settlement opened fire towards a bus and as a result left a residents hospitalised with wounds.
  • July 31th 2017:  A group of Israeli settlers positioned at the African Community neighbourhood in the old city of Jerusalem assaulted several residents and as a result left a man and his wife hospitalised with contusions.

Ramallah:

  • July 22nd 2017: a group of Israeli settlers stoned vehicles travelling along the main road near Ein Sinya town.
  • July 22nd 2017: a group of Israeli settlers raided Ras Kar Kar village and occupied several home rooftops.
  • July 22nd 2017: a group of Israeli settlers positioned near the entrances of Sinjil and Turmus'aya villages opened fire and hurled stones towards several residents.
  • July 23rd 2017: a group of Israeli settlers positioned near the west entrance of Kafr Al-Dik town and then an Israeli settler opened fire while Israeli Military forces were watching.
  • July 23rd 2017: a group of Israeli settlers positioned near “Nili” settlement roundabout {which is located in east Ni’lin town} chanted anti-Arab and racial slurs.
  • July 24th 2017: a group of Israeli settlers from “Rimonim” settlement located in east Ramon village assaulted several residents who were herding their sheep on agricultural land in the area then proceeded to steal the sheep during which they withdrew under the protection of the Israeli Military after leaving the sheep for the owners to reclaim

Jenin:

  • July 7th 2017: a group of Israeli settlers positioned near Barta'a Military checkpoint stoned residents and vehicles and as a result damaged a vehicle owned by Hytham Ibrahim Qubha.
  • July 22nd 2017: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Thaher Al-Malah village located near Ya'bad town, damaged doors of several homes and merchant shops then withdrew under the protection of Israeli Military forces.

Tubas:

  • July 12th 2017: a group of Israeli settlers chased Rafe' Fuqaha and Khalil Fuqaha in Khilat Hamad area located in the north Jordan valley.
  • July 18th 2017: a group of Israeli settlers near “Rotem" settlement located in the North Jordan valley area levelled 5 dunums of land located near the settlement.

Tulkarem:

  • July 22nd 2017: a group of Israeli settlers from "Aveni Havits" settlement stoned residents and vehicles located along the main road connecting Shufa and Izbit Shufa villages.

Qalqiliya:

  • July 11th 2017: An Israeli settler vehicle travelling along the main road in Al-Nabi Elias village ran over Assad Afran and as a result left him hospitalized.
  • July 22nd 2017: group of Israeli settlers from "Qaddumim" settlement closed the main road connecting Qalqilya and Nablus road then reopened it at a later time.

Nablus:

  • July 12th 2017: a group of Israeli settlers set fire to agricultural land located in south Burin village during which Israeli Civil forces extinguished the fire then escorted the settlers from the area.
  • July 14th 2017: a group of Israeli settlers stormed archeological sites in Sabastiya village then withdrew under the protection of Israeli Military forces at a later time.
  • July 21st 2017: Israeli settlers stormed Assira Al-Qibliya and set fire to agricultural land.
  • July 31th 2017: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Al-Khafafish area located in Jallud village and installed 10 Mobile homes on a plot of land in an attempt to establish a new settlement outpost.

Salfit:

  • July 25th 2017: a group of Israeli settlers positioned along the main road in Wadi Qana hurled Molotov cocktail fire bombs towards a truck owned by Jallal Al-Assad {A resident of Kafil Harris town} and as a result set fire to the backend of the truck before Palestinian Civil defence forces were able to extinguish the flames.
  • July 30th 2017: a group of Israeli settlers positioned near "Kafar Tupah" settlement let lose attack dogs on Jallal Abdel-Latif Yusef Azzam {A resident of Yasuf village} and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions and dog bites.

Bethlehem:

  • July 7th 2017: a group of Israeli settlers positioned near Al-Nashash area junction stoned several vehicles and residents and as a result damaged a vehicle owned by Ziyad Jawad Shaloud {A resident of Hebron city}.
  • July 16th 2017: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Wadi Al-Ghayout area located in Ein Al-Qassis area of Al-Khader town and installed 5 Mobile homes on land owned by Subieh family.

Hebron:

  • July 9th 2017: An Israeli settler vehicle travelling along road {60} near the entrance of Al-Arub camp ran over Abeer Bassam Ahmad Jawabra and as a result left her hospitalized with contusions.
  • July 19th 2017: a Israeli settler driving his vehicle along the main road in Wadi Al-Hassin area located near "Kiryat Arba'" settlement located in east Hebron city ran over the child Wajdan Firas Al-Ja'bari {10 years old} and as a result left her hospitalized.
  • July 22nd 2017: a group of Israeli settlers positioned near Beit Einun junction assaulted several residents and threw stones and glass bottles towards them and as a result injured 4 residents and damaged a vehicle then withdrew at 00:55.
  • July 23rd 2017: Israeli settlers stormed the south area of Hebron city and vandalized several merchant shops owned by Abu Al-Rajab family.
  • July 25th 2017: : a group of Israeli settlers stormed the old city of Hebron and attacked 3 homes owned by Talib Abu Rajab, Othman Al-Karaki and Wassaf Al-Karaki in an attempt to seize the home.
  • July 26th 2017: : a group of Israeli settlers under the protection of the Israeli Military stormed the old city of Hebron and attacked the home of Ibrahim Hassan Abu Rajab in an attempt to seize the home.
  • July 29th 2017: a group of Israeli settlers from "Karam'il" settlement located in east Yatta town hurled stones and glass bottles towards the home of Al-Hathalin family in Um Al-Khier village.

 Closure of Crossing Points

The Israeli military completely closed crossing points into the Gaza Strip, including access points within the Green Line, on 169 occasions during the month of July 2017. The Israeli military closed crossing points within the Green Line on 107 occasions. It opened Beit Hanun (Erez) Crossing for 26 days for previously-coordinated humanitarian cases and foreign nationals and Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing for 22 days for transportation of food supplies, humanitarian aid, and cooking gas. In addition to allowing in animal feed, construction cargo designated for UNRWA and internationally-funded projects was transported through the Crossing. Sufa Crossing was closed throughout the month. On the other hand, the Israeli authorities have continued to unilaterally close Ash Shuja’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Israeli authorities has also continued to completely close Al Muntar (Karnei) Commercial Crossing.

 

The Israeli military closed international crossing points on 62 occasions. Rafah Crossing was closed. Yasser Arafat International Airport has remained closed since the outbreak of the second Intifada.
