The following summary tables and overview of events survey hostile Israeli activities during the period 01 January 2018 to January 31 2018. The report includes a summary table of events, classified by type, throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, in addition to a comparative table surveying events over the past three months. The survey is compiled from the Daily Situation Reports of the Palestinian Monitoring Group (PMG) of the Negotiations Affairs Department (NAD) of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The PMG monitors ground conditions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, including Israeli and Palestinian violations. The information reported through the PMG process represents data available at the time of distribution only.

On January 4th 2018, a group of Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli Military and Police officers stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound and provoked worshipers as they performed Talmudic rituals. On January 16th 2018, Israeli forces prevented the staff of the reconstruction committee at the Al-Aqsa Mosque from conducting restoration and maintenance work on Al-Aqsa mosque and the Dome of the Rock {including the work of mosaics and wooden ceiling and restoration of the doors of the mosque and other restoration work throughout the Al-Aqsa Mosque}. On January 26th 2018, Israeli forces closed Al-Ibrahimi Mosque compound in the old city of Hebron and prevented worshipers from conducting prayers. |

Analysis of Events
Killings:
A total of 8 residents were killed by Israeli forces during the month of January 2018:
- January 3rd 2018: Israeli forces raided Deir Nathim village , clashed with several residents as they stormed and searched several homes and as a result killed the child Mus'ab Firas Al-Tamimi {17 years old} and injured 3 others then detained Moayad Al-Tamimi{A special need patient.
- January 4th 2018: A bus carrying Israeli settlers ran over and killed Rami Issa Khalil Assad {38 years old} {A resident of Irtas village} along road 60 in Al-Khader town.
- January 11th 2018: Israeli forces positioned near the entrance of Tel village fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, and stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents for alleged stoning and as a result killed the child: Ali Omar Nimer Qinu {16 years old} resident of Iraq Burin village}.
- January 11th 2018: Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line fired live ammunition, stun and tear gas canisters towards several demonstrators in east Al-Buriej camp and as a result killed Amir Abdel Hamid Abu Mousaed {16 years old} and injured 3 others.
- January 15th 2018: Israeli forces positioned at the wall gate in Jayyous town fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents for alleged stoning and as a result killed Ahmad Abdul-Jaber Mohammed Salim {24 years old}.
- January 18th 2018: Israeli forces raided Wadi Bruqin area in Jenin city, clashed with a residents {who are allegedly wanted by the Israeli Military} as they surrounded their home and as a result killed Ahmed Ismail Mohamed Jarrar {31 years old} then demolished 3 homes and partially demolished another.
- January 20th 2018: Hussien Husni Sa'id Attallah {57 years old} {A resident of Nablus city} {A Cancer patient} died due to medical negligence by Israeli Prison authorities.
- January 30th 2018: Israeli forces positioned near the entrance of Al-Mughier village fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents for alleged stoning and
Injuries
A total of 218 injuries were reported in the month of January 2018 (149 Palestinians in the West Bank and 69 in the Gaza Strip). Injuries included 22 children, 3 Women and 2 Paramedics.

Closure
Especially on Fridays, the Israeli military continues to intensify restrictions at checkpoints located at the entrances of Jerusalem, and to restrict entrance to the Al Aqsa Mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem, preventing worshippers from accessing the Mosque. At the Qalandiya checkpoint north of Jerusalem, the Israeli military continues to prevent PNA registered civilian vehicles from crossing the checkpoint towards Ar Ram and Qalandiya as well as Dahiyat al Bareed. The checkpoint is overcrowded daily, particularly during rush hours, due to intensified restrictions and search measures applied by Israeli troops. During the month of January 2018 the Israeli military also continued to intensify restrictions at the Tayasir checkpoint and Al Hamra junction checkpoint leading to the Jordan Valley area, only allowing access to civilians whose IDs indicate District of Jericho residence or others holding special access permits. In addition, restrictions were intensified and civilian access was obstructed at the Za’tara junction checkpoint (separating the northern and central West Bank districts) as well as at the As Sawahira ash Sharqiya (the ‘Container’) checkpoint (separating the central and southern West Bank districts).
The Israeli military installed 411 flying checkpoints in January 2018 (compared with 431 in December 2017 and 425 in November 2017) and as a result restricted the free access and movement of residents, merchant supplies and agricultural goods.

- January 2nd 2018: Israeli forces stormed Beit Hanina town and demolished a home owned by Imad Ayad for allegedly being built without licence.
- January 17th 2018: Israeli forces demolished a home {consisting of 2 rooms} owned by Al-Hadad family in Beit Hanina town for allegedly being built without a licence.
- January 31st 2018: Israeli forces stormed Beit Hanina town and demolished a home owned by Riyad Ra'fat Shwiki for allegedly being built without a licence.
Jenin:
- January 18th 2018: Israeli forces demolished 4 homes {1 home partially demolished} owned by Ahmed Nasr Jarar, Ali Khaled Jarrar, Isma'il Muhammad Jarrar, and Yasin Jarrar (partial demolition) during their raid into Wadi Bruqin area in Jenin city.
Jericho:
- January 24th 2018: Israeli forces demolished a home owned by Ehab Ahmad Barakat in Al-Jiftlik village for allegedly being built without an alliance because of its location in area C {which is under Israeli Military and Administrative control}.
Bethlehem:
January 29th 2018: Israeli forces stormed Bi'r Ona area located in North West Beit Jallah city and demolished 2 building {each building consists of 3 floors under construction} owned by Waleed Zarinat and Issa Awwad for allegedly being built without a licence.
Attacks on Public and Private Property
Attack on Public and Private property occurred as follows per District:
Jerusalem:
- January 1st 2018: Israeli forces served Khalid Al-Zir with a military order for the removal of several Olive trees planted on his agricultural land in Al-Tur neighbourhood in Jerusalem city.
- January 2nd 2018: Israeli forces stormed Beit Hanina town and demolished a home owned by Imad Ayad for allegedly being built without licence.
- January 9th 2018: Israeli Police forces stormed Al-Dar Hotel located in Al-Shiekh Jarrah neighbourhood in Jerusalem city and prevented a press conference titled "But the world should hear the cry of Jerusalem" which was being held by Akrama Sabri and Archbishop-Attallah Hannah
- January 9th 2018: Israeli forces demolished the wall of the Yusufiya cemetery located adjacent to Bab Al-Abssat gate (one of the gates leading to Al-Aqsa Mosque) and conducted excavation work in the area.
Jenin:
- January 1st 2018: Israeli forces raided Qabatiya town and served a military order for the demolition of a home owned by the family of Yusef Khalid Mustafa Kamil {A Palestinian detainee} and gave the family 4 days before implementing the order.
- January 15th 2018: Israeli forces damaged 3 vehicles owned by Wissam Deef Afana (private car), and a vehicle owned by Cann'an company, and Hiam Al-Assi (agricultural tractor) during their raid into Bruqin town.
- January 30th 2018: Israeli forces stormed Ya'bad town and prevented the Construction of a multi-purpose building - classified as public buildings (consisting of kindergarten, maternity centre, children's centre and children's park) located within the approved master plan approved by the European Union and financed by the Government of Denmark.
Tubas:
- January 8th 2018: Israeli forces levelled agricultural land, damaged property and chickpeas crops owned by Ahmad Daraghma as they conducted Military training in Al-Farisiya area located in the North Jordan valley area.
- January 22nd 2018: Israeli forces positioned in Qa'uun area located near Bardala village in the North Jordan valley served military orders for the levelling of 30 Dunums of agricultural land planted with Olive trees and crops.
Nablus:
- January 24th 2018: Israeli forces demolished a livestock shed owned by Zuheir Fuhmi Qassim Bani Minat in Khirbit Karzaliya area located in east Aqraba town for allegedly being built without a licence because of its location in area C {which is under Israeli Military and Administrative control
Qalqiliya:
- January 4th 2018: Israeli forces positioned in Kafr Thulth town prevented workers of the Municipality of Kafr Thult from constructing and paving a part of Al-Eiyoun road which connects Kafr Thulth town with Arab Al-Khawaja and Wadi Kana area {despite having a permit from the Israeli's through the Palestinian Ministry of civil affairs to work in Area C which is under Israeli Military control.
Hebron:
- January 31st 2018: Israeli forces demolished an agricultural Den owned by Osama Kamal Raba'i in Al-Rafa'ya village located in east Yatta town for allegedly being built without a license.
Confiscation of Property:
Jerusalem:
- January 2nd 2018: Israeli forces positioned at Jaba'a military checkpoint confiscated a vehicle owned by Nasser Mohammad Musa Nasser {A resident of Betin village in Ramallah and Al-Bireh district}.
- January 2nd 2018: Israeli forces stormed Silwan neighbourhood in Jerusalem city and took over a storage room {160 m} owned by Abed Mohammad Abu Wahdan after breaking the locks and emptying out supplies then proceeded to seal off the room and prevented the owner from using it.
- January 30th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated 120 Propane Gas cylinders from a gas distributor owned by Ziyad Abu Al-Humus during their raid into Al-Eisawiya village.
Jenin:
- January 3rd 2018: Israeli forces positioned at Al-Jalama Boarder crossing located along the Green Line in North east Jenin city confiscated 5 caravans used as shops owned by the flowing: Faiz Shaaban, Majed Nassar, residents of Jalameh village and Murad Jaramna al-Badawi, residents of Beit Qad village.
- January 14th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated surveillance camera recorders from "Al-Zaytuneh" supermarket and Al-"Zababda" Gas station.
- January 14th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated surveillance camera footage from "Akka Coffe shop" during their raid into Qabatiya town
- January 14th 2018: Israeli forces positioned near Sanur village junction confiscated a vehicle and surveillance camera footage for a gas station owned by Abdallah Awad and surveillance camera footage from a Pharmacy owned by Marzouq Fashashfa.
- January 15th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated surveillance camera recorders from several homes and merchant shops including Abu Ali Assi Company, Sharhabeel Supermarket and a gas station owned by Ali Al-Qaz during their raid into Bruqin town
- January 15th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated surveillance camera recorders from the home of Khalid Abu Al-Hassan during their raid into Jenin city.
- January 15th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated surveillance camera recorders from a home and a merchant shop.
- January 15th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated 11 surveillance camera recorders for several homes, merchant shops, a gas station and the Municipality building and a Bank of Palestine branch.
- January 16th 2018: confiscated surveillance camera recorders from several homes and merchant shops including Mohammad Soliman Frihat, Waleed Abdel-Rahman Mir'i and Fathi Muslih Amin Al-Suqi during their raid into Al-Zabadat, Qabtiya, Al-Yamoun, Masilat and Marka towns.
- January 17th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated surveillance camera recorders from "Haifa" Gas Station during their raid into Jenin city.
- January 30th 2018: Israeli forces stormed Ya'bad town and confiscated equipment from a contracting company signed to implement the construction of a multi-purpose building - a public building (consisting of a kindergarten, a maternity centre, a children's centre and a children's park) in an area within the approved structural plan approved by The European Union, with financing from the Government of Denmark.

- January 13th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated 5 surveillance camera footage recorders owned by Ali Ibrahim Al-Zir {A recording device for a home},Mohammad Marwan Al-Hamoud {A recording device for vehicle car lot} Mounir Ali Rasheed Salahat (a recording device for a vegetable store), Adnan Ali Rashid Salahat (a commercial recording device), a special recording device for "Al-Soda" Gas station during their raid into Al-Far'a village and Al-Far'a camp.
Tulkarem:
- January 11th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated 17400 NIS, 750 JD and 600 USD from the home of Mo'ayad Taqatqa during their raid into Allar to
- January 14th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated surveillance camera devices from the home of Hassan Thaher Hijazi during their raid into Anabta town.
Nablus:
- January 9th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated an agricultural tractor owned by Qusay Abdel-Min'im Abu Radiya after detaining him during their into Qusra town
- January 12th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated a water tank owned by Abdallah Kayed Hanini during their raid into Beit Furiq town.
- January 13th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated 3 surveillance camera recording devices owned by Mahmoud Sami Hajja {A resident of Burqa village}, Jamal Yasin {A resident of Yasid village}, and a commercial shop owned by: Ahmed Samaro {A resident of Beit Imrin village} during their raid into Yassid, Beit Umrin and Burqa villages.
- January 13th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated 3 surveillance camera recording devices from a Gas station in Assira Al-Shamaliya town and a Supermarket owned by Samir Janajra, Du' Al-Kamar {Moon Light} restaurant and a Tile factory in Taluza village.
- January 16th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Abdel-Rahman Nasouh Ishtaya after detaining him during their raid into Salem village.
- January 21st 2018: Israeli forces positioned at Huwara Military checkpoint confiscated 3 vehicles and took them to Huwara military base.
- January 28th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated surveillance camera footage after storming the home of Abdel-Latif Qashqush during their raid into Allar town.
Bethlehem:
- January 4th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated farming equipment owned by Mustafa Abu Amous in Shuahlat area in Al-Khader town.
- January 15th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Mohammad Addib Odah Musa after detaining him during their raid into AL-Khader town.
- January 21st 2018: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Abdel-Hadi Mu'amar during their raid into Betar village
Hebron:
- January 6th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated funds after storming and searching the home of Nidal Shihadeh {A Palestinian Detainee} during their raid into Hebron city.
- January 10th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated half a kilo of gold and a sum of cash from the home of Jassim Khieri Abu Rajab during their raid into Hebron city.
North Gaza:
- January 8th 2018: Israeli forces confiscated a fishing boat owned by Mohammad Omar Al-Najjar off the shores of Al-Waha area located in west Beit Lahiya town.
- January 9th 2018: Israeli Naval forces confiscated a fishing boat owned by Ahamd Awad Al-Sa'idi off the shores of Al-Sudaniya area located in west Beit Lahiya town
Settlement Activity:
Jerusalem:
- January 8th 2018: Israeli authorities permitted excavation work in Wadi Al-Rababa area in Silwan neighbourhood in Jerusalem in order to implement plans for the construction of a Bridge {approximately 179 Meters long and 30 Meters High} which would connect Al-Thuri neighbourhood with Al-Nabi Daud area.
Salfit:
- January 5th 2018: The Israeli Minister of defence approved tender for marketing land to build 900 housing units in a new residential settlement in the settlement of "Ariel" built on the land of citizens in Salfit district.
Tubas:
- January 9th 2018: Israeli Military authorized the construction of a road {3 KM in length} which connects "Ro'i" settlement and residential land in Al-Adilat area in Khirbiet Humsat Al-Foqa in the North Jordan valley.
- January 28th 2018: Israeli forces stormed the west area of Bardala village located in the North Jordan valley and levelled agricultural land owned by Jihad Nimer Hussien Sawafta, Hussein Nimr Sawafta, Nabil Moeen Abu Al-Sheikh, Bashir Mohammed Sidqi Sawafta, Iyad Abdel Razek Mohammed Hrishat .

Qalqiliya:
- January 11th 2018: Israeli authorities approved plans for the construction of 200 settlement unites in "Oranit" settlement located in North West Azzun Atma village in Qalqiliya district on land occupied in 1967.
- January 12th 2018: Israeli settlers under the protection of the Israeli military paved a road on privately owned Palestinian land in Jit and tell village for the purpose of expanding "Ahavat Gilad" settlement.
- January 14th 2018: Israeli forces paved a road {250 m} in Burin village on land owned by the local secondary school near the south bypass road.
- January 10th 2018: Israeli forces stormed the area between Madma village and "Yitshar" settlement and levelled a plot of residential owned land then clashed with several residents attempting to prevent them from levelling the land.

- January 26th 2018: A group of Israeli settlers stormed Beit Safafa village and set fire to a vehicle and spray painted Anti-Arab and racist graffiti.
Ramallah &Al-Bireh:
- January 9th 2018: Israeli settlers positioned at Beitin village roundabout stoned residents and vehicles and as a result damaged the windshield of a vehicle owned by Mahmoud Abu Jum'a.
- January 13th 2018: A group of Israeli settlers positioned near Beitin village stoned residents and vehicles passing along the main road.
- January 22nd 2018: Israeli settlers positioned near Al-Taybeh town junction {located along Al-Mu'arajat road which connects Ramallah and Jericho districts} assaulted 3 Bedouin residents {including a woman and her son} and as a result left them hospitalized with contusion

- January 21st 2018: An Israeli settler from "Rotim" settlement located in Al-Farisiya area located in the North Jordan valley chased away several Shepard's while they were herding their livestock in the area.

- January 9th 2018: Israeli settlers positioned near Beit Lid town junction stoned residents and vehicles and as a result left a resident hospitalized with contusions.

- January 22nd 2018: An Israeli settler's vehicle travelling along the main road in Huwara town ran over the child Nijmah Arafat Abdel-Raheem Odah {16 years old} as she was leaving her school and as a result left her hospitalized with contusions.
- January 22nd 2018: A group of Israeli settlers stormed the south area of Madma village during which Israeli forces fired stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents who attempted to prevent the settler attack.
Qalqiliya:
- January 10th 2018: a group of Israeli settlers positioned at Far'ata village stoned 3 homes owned by Yacoub Mohamed Masoud, Ali Mohamed Shana'a, and Amjad Adnan El Taweel then withdrew under the protection of Israeli Military forces.
- January 11th 2018: Israeli settlers stormed Far'ata village and attempted to reach several residential homes during which the local residents were able to prevent them from attacking the home then they withdrew under the protection of the Israeli military.

- January 17th 2018: group of Israeli settlers stormed Azzun town during which Israeli Military forces fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several residents as they attempted to prevent the settler attack and as a result left several residents suffocated from tear gas inhalation.

- January 10th 2018: A group of Israeli settlers positioned Za'tara junction military checkpoint stoned residents and vehicles passing through the checkpoint and as a result injured a resident.
- January 31st 2018: A group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Yassuf village and uprooted 90 Olive tree owned by Mohammad Salah Ghazi {A resident of Al-Sawiya village}.
Bethlehem:
- January 10th 2018: An Israeli settler driving a bus near Teqou' town ran over Malak Mohammad Mahmoud Abu Ra'iya and as a result left her hospitalized with contusions.
- January 17th 2018: A group of Israeli settlers raided Al-Zahra neighbourhood in Beit Ta'mar village then stormed "Al-Tahadi" school after breaking open the entrances then installed a tent in the school yard during which local resident were able to kick them out of the area
- January 28th 2018: A group of Israeli settlers from "El'azar" settlement stormed land in Al-Khader town, levelled a plot of land {approximately 4 dunums} and also destroyed the steel fence surrounding the plot of land owned by Mohammad Ahmad Abu Samarah.
- January 31st 2018: An Israeli settler vehicle travelling near "Betar Aliyat" settlement ran over Yahya Hussien Yahya Malish {21 years old} and as a result left him hospitalized in critical condition.
Hebron:
- January 13th 2018: A group of Israeli settlers stormed Al-Ras and Wadi Al-Hassin area in the old city of Hebron, attacked several homes then withdrew under the protection of Israeli forces who fired stun and tear gas canisters at residents attempted to prevent the settler attack.
- January 15th 2018: A group of Israeli settlers from "Migon" settlement and "Havat Migon" settlement outpost located in Al-Tuwani village located in east Yatta town installed barbed wire steel fences around a plot of land owned by Mir, Abu Qubtiya, Sharatih and Mughanan families in an attempt to confiscate the land.
- January 29th 2018: An Israeli settler vehicle travelling near Al-Ibrahimi mosque compound in the old city of Hebron ran over the child: Alaa Ali Abu Maliya {5 years old} and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions.
- January 30th 2018: A group of Israeli settlers stormed Al-Qazzazin neighbourhood in the old city of Hebron and assaulted Hassan Shaludi and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions.
Closure of Crossing Points
The Israeli military completely closed crossing points into the Gaza Strip, including access points within the Green Line, on 169 occasions during the month of January 2018. The Israeli military closed crossing points within the Green Line on 107 occasions. It opened Beit Hanun (Erez) Crossing for 27 days for previously-coordinated humanitarian cases and foreign nationals and Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing for 21 days for transportation of food supplies, humanitarian aid, and cooking gas. In addition to allowing in animal feed, construction cargo designated for UNRWA and internationally-funded projects was transported through the Crossing. Sufa Crossing was closed throughout the month. On the other hand, the Israeli authorities have continued to unilaterally close Ash Shuja’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Israeli authorities has also continued to completely close Al Muntar (Karnei) Commercial Crossing.
The Israeli military closed international crossing points on 62 occasions. Rafah Crossing was closed. Yasser Arafat International Airport has remained closed since the outbreak of the second Intifada.
