Daily Violations Report March 15th 2016

WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure
  1. On March 14th 2016, the Israeli army, intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers under the age of 50 from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
  2. The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
  3. The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.
Closure of Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
  2. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint. 
Military Checkpoints
  1. Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
  2. On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu ‘fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall.
Flying Checkpoints

At 16:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in Ein Al-Louza area located in Silwan neighbourhood then searched residents and vehicles

Raid
  1. At 15:00, Israeli forces raided Al-Eizariya and clashed with several residents.
  2. At 01:30, Israeli forces raided Qalandiya camp, stormed several merchant shops and demolished a Motorcycle repair Garage located near the camp entrance.
Attack

At 11:30, Israeli forces positioned near the entrance of Al I’sawiya village fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

Detention
  1. On March 14th 2016, Israeli forces detained Wathiq Talib Kan’an {A resident of Mikhmas village} in Jerusalem city.
  2. At 18:40, Israeli forces positioned at Al-Zaytuneh Checkpoint located near the entrance of At Tur neighbourhood in Jerusalem detained 2 residents: Wafa Mohammad Odeh Abu Hilal and Anies Sa’id Abdallah Abu Hilal {Both residents of Abu Dis} for allegedly finding knives in their possession.
House Demolition

On the morning of March 14th 2016, Israeli forces stormed Al-Eisawiya village and served military orders for the demolition of 2 homes owned by Fadi Al-Eisawi and Mohammad Daoud Mahmoud for allegedly being built without proper licencing.

Obstruction of Places of Worship

At 11:30, Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli Military and Police officers stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem

Closure of Wall Gates
  1. The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
  2. The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Slewahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem IDs to cross, after subjecting them to thorough searches using electronic devices.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages
  2. At 24:00 on February 14th 2016, closed the main road near the entrance of “Bet El” settlement which leads to Al-Jalazoun camp with cement blocks for alleged gunfire.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 08:25, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Sinjil then searched residents and vehicles until 09:30.
  2. At 08:25, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at “Halamish” settlement junction then searched residents and vehicles until 09:30.
  3. At 17:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Yabroud village bridge then searched residents and vehicles until 18:35
Raid
  1. At 23:00, Israeli forces raided Um Safa village until 23:35.
  2. At 01:40, Israeli forces raided Al-Jalazoun camp and detained a resident.
  3. At 01:55, Israeli forces raided Bir Ziet, stormed several homes, detained 2 residents then withdrew at 06:25.
  4. At 04:00, Israeli forces raided Ramallah city and detained a resident.
Detention
  1. At 11:30, Israeli forces detained 2 residents: Yusef Abdel-Fattah Barqash and Yusef Shadi Abdel-Fattah Barqash{both residents of Beit Ur At Tahta village}.
  2. Israeli forces detained Bajis Nakhlah in Al-Jalazoun camp.
  3. Israeli forces detained 2 residents: Adham Abu Arqoub and Mahdi Nasser Khalil Wash’ha in Bir Ziet town.
  4. Israeli forces detained Ibrahim Shihadeh Abu Shaqrah in Ramallah city.

JENIN

Closure

On December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area  {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area  and declared the area a closed military zone.

Closure of main Roads

The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the road leading to the town of ‘Arraba east of the illegal settlement Dotan and the south entrance of Ya’bad.

Raid

At 03:10, Israeli forces raided Rummana village, stormed a home, detained a resident then withdrew at 03:30.

Detention

Israeli forces detained Abdel-Rahman Ahmad Sa’id Al-Amour in Rummana village.

Closure of Wall Gates

Israeli forces continue too close the wall gate and only allow those holding special permits to enter through it.

TULKAREM

Military Checkpoints
  • At 07:15 on March 14th 2016 and again at 21:20, Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at “Eniv” checkpoint located along the main road connecting Tulkarem and Nablus and impeded the free flow of traffic until 22:30.
Flying Checkpoints

At 10:45, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Baqa ash Sharqiya town junction then searched residents and vehicles until 12:45.

Raid
  1. At 00:50, Israeli forces raided Tulkarem and Tulkarem camp, stormed and searched the College of Engineering at Al-Khadori University, stormed a home, detained a University student in Tulkarem camp then withdrew at 05:20.
  2. At 03:15, Israeli forces raided Kafr Jammal village, stormed and searched several homes, detained 3 residents then withdrew at 04:15.
Detention
  1. Israeli forces detained Mohammad Abdel-Fattah Mahmoud Al-Damiri {A University Student} in Tulkarem camp.
  2. Israeli forces detained 3 residents: Abdel-Raziq Hussien Abdel-Latif Tubah, Ibrahim Jaber Amon Tubah and Ali Hussein Mohammad Ali in Kafr Jammal village.

QALQILIYA

Closure of Roads
  1. Israeli forces continue to close with cement blocks agricultural roads east of Azzun town.
  2. In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
  3. Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate.
Attack

At 18:00, Israeli forces positioned in Al-Muntar area located in North Azzun town fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

Closure of Wall Gates
  1. The Israeli army continues to restrict access at ‘Azzun ‘Atma Wall gate and impeded the free flow of traffic. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the entrance to the village of Wadi Al- Rasha and to deny civilian access.
  2. The Israeli army allows residents to access the village through Gate #109. Having removed the gate at the entrance to the village of Ras Atiya; the Israeli army only allows students to cross to their schools outside the village through the Habla gate.

NABLUS

Closure
  • Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area.
Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close the northern entrance to Qabalan town; the southern entrances to the town of Jamma’in and the villages of Duma and Qaryut.
  2. At 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds.
  3. On November 29th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Burin, Awarta and Osirin as well as the agricultural bypass road connecting Aqraba and Qabalan village with dirt mounds.
  4. At 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area.
  5. At 18:30 on January 19th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Huwara and Walada village with dirt mounds.
  6. At 17:00 on March 11th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Qabalan and Yatma villages and the road connecting Qabalan and Al-Sawiya villages with dirt mounds.
Military Checkpoints

At 09:00, Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Beit Furiq checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic until 12:50.

  1. At 16:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Beit Iba town then searched residents and vehicles.
  2. At 16:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Qusin village junction then searched residents and vehicles.
  3. At 18:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Huwara town junction then searched residents and vehicles until 19:45.
Raid
  1. At 09:00, Israeli forces raided Qabalan town, stormed “Al-Quds Bank” branch, inspected surveillance camera footage then withdrew at 13:25.
  2. At 03:50, Israeli forces raided Beit Furik town, stormed and searched several homes, detained 2 residents and summoned 2 residents: Ala Abdel-Min’im Khatatbah and Ameer Abdel-Min’im Khatatbah to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning then withdrew at 05:05.
Detention
  1. At 17:20, Israeli forces detained Yazan Rami Al-Sayah (A resident of Nablus city).
  2. At 23:00, Israeli forces detained 2 children: Mohammad Amjad Abdel-Latif Qatuni (17 years old) {A resident of Askar camp in Nablus} and Majdi Abdel-Hakeem Na’im Nada (16 years old) {A resident of Ein Biet Al-Ma camp in Nablus}.
  3. Israeli forces detained 2 residents: Oday Ziyad Hanni and Ma’rouf Nayef Abu Al-Saud in Beit Furik.

SALFIT

Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the entrance to two detour roads connecting Marda village to its farmland.
  2. Since 11:00 on July 30th 2012, Israeli forces have closed two roads leading to Abu Nasar and Qatan Al-Jama’ located in western area of Deir Istiya with cement blocks.

JERICHO

Military Checkpoints

Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District.

Flying Checkpoints

At 12:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint along road (90) located in Al-Oja village then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

At 02:30, Israeli forces raided Al-Oja village, stormed s home, temporarily detained Mohammad Ahmad Ka’abneh {A National Security Force Officer} and released him at a later time then withdrew at 05:00.

BETHLEHEM

Closure
  1. The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
  2. Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities.
Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala  ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to  Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds.

  4. Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires.
  5. At 09:15 on February 16th 2016, Israeli forces closed the bypass road connecting Za’tara and Ush Al-Ghurab area located in east Beit Sahur town with dirt mounds.
  6. On February 25th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main steel entrance gate leading to Um Al Rakaba area in Al-Khader town.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 11:55, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the west entrance of Beit Fajjar then searched residents and vehicles until 13:40.
Raid
  1. At 12:20, Israeli forces raided Husan village, clashed with several residents then withdrew at 13:30.
  2. At 21:25, Israeli forces raided Al-Khader, clashed with several residents then withdrew at 22:50.
  3. At 01:10, Israeli forces raided Bethlehem city and summoned Alaa Abdel-Kareem Ali to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning then withdrew at 04:45.
Detention
  1. At 12:25, Israeli forces detained Jameel Khaled Jameel Ziyadeh {A resident of Al-Duhisheh camp in Bethlehem city} as he was reporting to Israeli Intelligence based on a prior summon.
  2. At 21:00, Israeli forces detained the child: Abdel-Haleem Mohammad Najjajrah (16 years old) inside “Betar Illit” settlement.
Temporary Detention

At 20:50, Israeli forces temporarily detained 2 residents including a child: Rashid Abdel-Qadder Najjajrah (16 years old) and Ribhi Mohammad Ameen Najajrah {Both residents of Nihalin village} inside “Betar Illit” settlement.

HEBRON

Closure
  1. The Israeli army continues to close Al-Shuhada’ Street, Al-Sahleh and Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighbourhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed.
  2. Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.
Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City.
  2. The Israeli army continues to close the bypass road connecting Bani Na’im and Zif village junction with dirt mounds.
  3. The Israeli Army continues to close the entrance of Beit Ummar (located near the local Cemetery) with dirt mounds.
  4. At 07:50 on March 14th 2016, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Al-Fah’s area located in south Hebron city and then entrance of Bani Na’im town and the entrance of Beit Einoun village with dirt mounds.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 08:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Burj village then searched residents and vehicles.
  2. At 17:35, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Al-Tabaqa village junction then searched residents and vehicles.
  3. At 20:10, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Fuwar camp then searched residents and vehicles.
Raid
  1. At 14:05, Israeli forces raided Yatta, set up a checkpoint near Al-Quds University campus then withdrew at a later time.
  2. At 11:05, Israeli forces raided Hebron city, temporarily detained Foa’ad Na’im Al-Junedi (60 years old) and released him after interrogating him about his brother Ameer Al-Junedi {who was killed by Israeli forces near “Kiryat Arbba settlement as mentioned in the previous report} and again at 16:45 set up a checkpoint, stormed and searched several homes and clashed with several residents   and again at 01:30 raided the area until 04:30.
  3. At 00:45, Israeli forces raided Dura and Deir Sammit villages.
Attack
  • At 19:35, Israeli forces positioned in Al-Duwara area located in south Sa’ir fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
Detention

At 22:45, Israeli forces detained 3 residents: Iz-Al-Din Khaled Mohammad Abu Rabi’ {A resident of Al-Fuwar camp}, Ahmad Abdel-Jaleel  Al-Shahitat {A resident of Khursa village} and Riyad Namura Masalam Namurah {A resident of Abu Al-Asja village}.

GAZA STRIP

ALL DISTRICTS

  • At 19:00 on August 26th 2014, Palestinian Gunmen and the Israeli military agreed to a cease fire agreement (brokered by the Arab Republic of Egypt) which includes the opening of border crossings to allow the entry of emergency supplies and humanitarian goods as well as construction material and agreed to increase the fishing limit to 6 nautical miles with possibility of  increase to 12 nautical miles by the end of the year and to decrease the Military area to 100 meters, allow freedom of movement and a halt to targeted killings and assassinations and negotiations will be held for discussion on rebuilding the sea port and airports in the coming month.

 

  • Israeli forces broke the cease fire agreement by opening fire from their positions behind the Green Line towards Rafah.

 

  • Palestinian Gunmen broke the cease fire agreement by launching projectiles towards the Green Line {As alleged by the Israeli Military}.

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

Beit Hanun (Erez) is open for the passage of critical patients, journalists, NGO staff, businessmen and passengers travelling abroad through Al-Karama crossing with previous coordination.

Palestinian Attacks

At 23:30, Palestinian gunmen launched projectiles towards the Green Line {As alleged by the Israeli Military}.

GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points
  1. Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
  2. Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
Injuries

At 09:30 on March 13th 2016, the residents: Jamal Wael Husni Zawid was injured after Israeli forces opened fire towards agricultural land in Al-Shuj’iya neighbourhood located in east Gaza city as mentioned in the previous report.

RAFAH

Closure of Crossing Points
  1. Yasser ‘Arafat International Airport remains closed.
  2. Rafah (Al ‘Awdah) Crossing is closed
  3. Sufa Crossing is closed
  4. Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing is open for the entry of tourist and foreign diplomats and the entry of Humanitarian assistance and construction material funded by UNRWA.
Attack
  • At 09:20, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land located near Sufa Crossing in North east Rafah city.
