Daily Report May 24, 2016

WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure

(i) On May 23 rd 2016, The Israeli army intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
(iii) The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint.

Military Checkpoints

(i) Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
(ii) On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu ‘fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall.

Raid

(i) At 02:25, Israeli forces raided Qalandiya camp and clashed with several residents as they stormed and searched a home.
(ii) At 02:45, Israeli forces raided Al-Ram town and set up a checkpoint.
(iii) At 03:10, Israeli forces raided Beit Duqqu village and detained a resident.
(iv) At 04:30, Israeli forces raided Qatana village then stormed and searched a home.

Killings

At 14:15, the child Sawsan Ali Daoud Mansour (17 years old) {A resident of Biddu town} was killed after Israeli forces opened fire towards her near Beit Iksa checkpoint.

Attack

(i) At 17:10, Israeli forces positioned near the wall gate in Qatana village fired live ammunition, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
(ii) At 18:00, Israeli forces positioned at Beit Iksa checkpoint fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
(iii) At 18:00, Israeli forces fired rubber coated steel bullets as they stormed and searched a home in Silwan neighbourhood in Jerusalem city and as a result injured Ali Abu Al-Hammam and detained 2 residents including a child

Detention

(i) At 02:30 on May 23rd 2016, Israeli forces detained 2 residents: Abdallah Khaled Ibrahim Al-Shiekh and Ahmad Hani Saber Khadour during their raid into Biddu town as mentioned in the previous report.
(ii) Israeli forces detained Alaa Ismail Rayan in Beit Duqqu village.
(iii) Israeli forces detained 2 residents including a child: Mohammad Arafat Abu Al-Hammam (17 years old) and Shadi Arafat Abu Al-Hammam

Temporary Detention

At 14:40, Israeli forces positioned in Wadi Al-Joz neighborhood in Jerusalem city temporarily detained Dr. Jamal Amrou {A University Professor} and his wife then handed them a court order preventing them from travelling for a period of 30 days {1 Month}.

Obstruction of Places of Worship

At 09:00, Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli Military and Police forces stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem and provoked worshipers.

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Slewahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem IDs to cross, after subjecting them to thorough searches using electronic devices.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages
(ii) Since 24:00 on February 14th 2016, closed the main road near the entrance of “Bet El” settlement which leads to Al-Jalazoun camp with cement block.

Flying Checkpoints

At 09:10, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Nabi Saleh village then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

(i) At dawn on May 23rd 2016, Israeli forces raided Awarta town and detained a resident.
(ii) At 03:15, Israeli forces raided Al-Jalazoun camp, detained 6 residents including 4 children then withdrew at 05:30.
(iii) At 07:15, Israeli forces raided Turmus’aya town then stormed and searched a home.
(iv) At dawn on May 24th 2016, Israeli forces raided Ni’lin town and detained a child.

Detention

(i) Israeli forces detained Ibrahim Salameh Al-Arouri in Awarta town.
(ii) Israeli forces detained 6 residents including 4 children: Mohammad Wajdi Mahmoud Safi (16 years old), Usayed Murad Hassan Nakhlah (16 years old), Mujahid Salah Aliyan (16 years old), Jihad Nidal Yacoub Aliyan (16 years old), Jihad Abu Sbieh and Ahmad Hisham Aliyan in Al-Jalazoun camp.
(iii) Israeli forces detained Mohammad Jamal Saleem Nafa’ (17 years old) in Ni’lin town.

JENIN

Closure

Since December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area and declared the area a closed military zone.

Closure of main Roads

The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the road leading to the town of ‘Arraba east of the illegal settlement Dotan.

Closure of Wall Gates

Israeli forces continue to close the wall gate and only allow those holding special permits to enter through it.

TUBAS

Closure of main Roads

Since 12:30 on March 15th 2016, Israeli forces closed the east entrance of Al-Aqaba village with cement blocks.

Flying Checkpoints

At 23:45, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Tayasir village and temporarily detained Salah Mohammad Abdel-Kareem {A resident of Al-Aqaba village} then released him at a later time.

Temporary Detention

Israeli forces and temporarily detained Salah Mohammad Abdel-Kareem {A resident of Al-Aqaba village} then released him at a later time.

House Demolition

At 08:30, Israeli forces stormed Bardala village located in the North Jordan valley and served military orders for the demolition of 10 homes {consisting of Barack’s and tents} including a livestock barn owned by the following: Mohammad Ali Radwan Foqaha, Bassam Ali Radwan Foqaha, Jamal Fayez Foqaha, Mohammad Fayez Foqaha, Mathqal Fayez Foqaha, Samer Aref Foqaha, Muneer Aref Foqaha, Awad Mohammad Arisheh, Jihad Mohamamd Arisheh and Ahmad Mohammad Arisheh then gave them until June 16th 2016 for implementing the demolition orders.

Confiscation of Property

At 14:20, Israeli forces stormed Al-Hadadiya village located in the North Jordan valley and confiscated a Water Pipe Line {1000 m long}owned by Abdel-Mahdi Al-Salameen.

TULKAREM

Military Checkpoints

At 08:30, Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at “Eniv” checkpoint located along the main road connecting Tulkarem and Nablus and impeded the free flow of traffic until 09:25.

Raid

At 09:25, Israeli forces raided Far’oun village, clashed with several residents then withdrew at 11:00.

Detention

At 14:45, Israeli forces detained Mohammad Ribhi Suliman (A resident of Bal’a town) as he was reporting to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.

QALQILIYA

Closure of Roads

(i) Israeli forces continue to close with cement blocks agricultural roads east of Azzun town.
(ii) In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
(iii) Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 19:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Jit village then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 20:25, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Kafr Laqif village then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

At 01:45, Israeli forces raided Kafr Qaddum village then stormed and searched 3 homes.

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to restrict access at ‘Azzun ‘Atma Wall gate and impeded the free flow of traffic. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the entrance to the village of Wadi Al- Rasha and to deny civilian access.
(ii) The Israeli army allows residents to access the village through Gate #109. Having removed the gate at the entrance to the village of Ras Atiya; the Israeli army only allows students to cross to their schools outside the village through the Habla gate.

NABLUS

Closure

Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the northern entrance to Qabalan town; the southern entrances to the town of Jamma’in and the villages of Duma and Qaryut.
(ii) Since 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds.
(iii) Since 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area.

Raid

(i) At 09:15, Israeli forces raided Huwara town {after the alleged stoning of a Israeli settler vehicle near the main road} then imposed a curfew until 12:00.
(ii) At 02:30, Israeli forces raided Orif village until 03:30.

Curfew

Israeli forces imposed a curfew on the residents of Huwara town.

SALFIT

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the entrance to two detour roads connecting Marda village to its farmland.
(ii) Since 11:00 on July 30th 2012, Israeli forces have closed two roads leading to Abu Nasar and Qatan Al-Jama’ located in western area of Deir Istiya with cement blocks.

Military Checkpoints

At 10:15, Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Za’tara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 10:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area located between Al-Zawiya town and Rafat village then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 20:35, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Zawiya town then searched residents and vehicles.
(iii) At 21:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Deir Ballout town then searched residents and vehicles.
(iv) At 22:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint beneath Iskaka village bridge then searched residents and vehicles.

JERICHO

Military Checkpoints

(i) Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District.
(ii) At 08:45, Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at “Ma’ale Ifraryim” checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic until 11:00.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 07:40 on May 23rd 2016, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint along Al-Mu’arajat road which connects Ramallah and Jericho districts then searched residents and vehicles until 08:20.
(ii) At 21:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the south entrance of Jericho city then searched residents and vehicles until 21:20.

BETHLEHEM

Closure

(i) The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
(ii) Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds.
(ii) Since 10:45 on September 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the agricultural road located in Arab Al-Rashaydeh village located near “Malee Amous” settlement with dirt mounds.
(iii) Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 09:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the North entrance of Teqou’ town then searched residents and vehicles until 11:10.
(ii) At 09:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Al-Faradis village roundabout then searched residents and vehicles until 11:25.
(iii) At 10:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Beit Jallah then searched residents and vehicles until 12:00.
(iv) At 11:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the west entrance of Teqou’ town then searched residents and vehicles until 12:30.
(v) At 13:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Marah Rabah village, temporarily detained 2 residents: Yusef Mohammad Ali Al-Shiekh and Yusef Ahmad Al-Shiekh and then realised them at 15:00.
(vi) At 13:35, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint beneath Al-Khader bridge located along the main road connecting the west village area then searched residents and vehicles.
(vii) At 16:25, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in Aqbat Hassnah area located near the entrance of Husan village then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

(i) At 15:50, Israeli forces raided Harsah area in Beit Sahour city until 16:10.
(ii) At 23:40, Israeli forces raided Nihalin village and clashed with several residents.
(iii) At 00:30, Israeli forces raided Al-Khader town, stormed and searched several homes then withdrew at 07:25.
(iv) At 02:30, Israeli forces raided Beit Fajjar town until 04:00.
(v) At 03:35, Israeli forces raided Ayda camp in Bethlehem city and detained 2 residents then withdrew at 04:00.

Attack

At 20:20, Israeli forces positioned near the entrance of Al-Asakra village fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

Detention

Israeli forces detained: Mustafa Khalil Ka’abneh and Khalil Mustafa Khalil Ka’abneh in Ayda camp in Bethlehem city.

HEBRON

Closure

(i) The Israeli army continues to close Al-Sahleh and Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighbourhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed.
(ii) Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the bypass road connecting Bani Na’im and Zif village junction with dirt mounds.
(iii) The Israeli Army continues to close the entrance of Beit Ummar (located near the local Cemetery) with dirt mounds.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 08:35, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the North entrance of Hebron city along bypass road (35) near Halhoul bridge then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 10:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Sa’ir town then searched residents and vehicles.
(iii) At 22:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Arrub camp then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

At 02:50, Israeli forces raided Al-Arrub camp, detained 3 residents and summoned Mohammad Issa Jawabrah to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.

Detention

(i) At 01:50 on May 23rd 2016, Israeli forces detained Mus’ab Abed Suliman Abu Jarour during their raid into Bani Na’im town.
(ii) Israeli forces detained Bayan Khaled Zaqout , Abdel Kareem Jaber Al-Teti and Ali Jaber Al-Teti in Al-Arrub camp.

Settlers Violence

At 18:20, Israeli settlers stormed Al-Shuhada road in the old city of Hebron and stoned residents.

GAZA STRIP

ALL DISTRICTS

• Since 19:00 on August 26th 2014, Palestinian Gunmen and the Israeli military agreed to a cease fire agreement (brokered by the Arab Republic of Egypt) which includes the opening of border crossings to allow the entry of emergency supplies and humanitarian goods as well as construction material and agreed to increase the fishing limit to 6 nautical miles with possibility of increase to 12 nautical miles by the end of the year and to decrease the Military area to 100 meters, allow freedom of movement and a halt to targeted killings and assassinations and negotiations will be held for discussion on rebuilding the sea port and airports in the coming month.

• The Israeli Military broke the ceasefire agreement by opening fire from their positions behind the Green Line towards Gaza and Khan Yunis.

• Israeli Naval vessels broke the ceasefire agreement by opening fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of North Gaza and Gaza.

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

Beit Hanun (Erez) is open for the passage of critical patients, journalists, NGO staff, businesspersons and passengers travelling abroad through Al-Karama crossing with previous coordination.

Attack

At 07:50 on May 23rd 2016, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Al-Sudaniya area located in North West Beit Lahiya town.

GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

(i) Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
(ii) Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.

Attack

(i) At 10:00 on May 23rd 2016, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Gaza city.
(ii) At 17:45, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Jahir Al-Dik town located in south east Gaza city

KHAN YUNIS

Attack

(i) At 09:00 on May 23rd 2016, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Khaz’aa town.
(ii) At 21:40 on May 23rd 2016, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Khaz’aa town.

RAFAH

Closure of Crossing Points

(i) Yasser ‘Arafat International Airport remains closed.
(ii) Rafah (Al ‘Awdah) Crossing is closed
(iii) Sufa Crossing is closed
(iv) Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing is is open for the entry Humanitarian assistance.
