Daily Report March 9th 2016

WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure
  1. On March 8th  2016, the Israeli army, intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
  2. The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
  3. The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.
Closure of Crossing Points
  1. The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
  2. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint. 
Military Checkpoints
  1. Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
  2. On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu ‘fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall.
Raid
  1. At 20:20, Israeli forces raided Al-Eisawiya village, clashed with several residents as they stormed the family home of Foad Rajabi Al-Tamimi {who was killed by Israeli forces} and detained 4 residents.
Killings
  1. At 10:40, Fadwa Abu Teir (51 years old){A resident of Um Tuba village} was killed after Israeli forces opened fire  towards her for allegedly attempting a stabbing attack in the old city of Jerusalem{As alleged by the Israeli Military}.
  2. At 17:15, Foad Kasab Abdallah Abu Rajab Al-Tamimi (20 years old) {A resident of Al-Iswaiya village} was killed after Israeli forces opened fire towards him near Salah Al-Din road in the old city of Jerusalem for allegedly stabbing and injuring 2 Israeli Police officers {As alleged by the Israeli Military}.
Detention
  1. At 13:00, Israeli forces positioned at Qalandiya checkpoint detained Sajidah Mohammad Wafiq Jamhour (19 years old) {A resident of Beit Annan village} for allegedly attempting to stab a Israeli Soldier {As alleged by the Israeli Military}.
  2. Israeli forces detained 4 residents: Nadeem Harbi Obied, Mu’tasimAbu Asab, Yazid Abu Assab and Shadi Maher Awad in Al-Iswaiya village.
Temporary Detention

On March 8th 2016, Israeli forces detained the mother of the child detainee : Moayad Yusef Abu Maliya (16 years old) as she was visiting him in Majdo Prison after an alleged verbal argument between her and a female prison guard then released her at a later time.

Obstruction of Places of Worship
  1. At 10:00, a group of Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli Military and Police forces stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem and provoked worshipers.
Closure of Wall Gates
  1. The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
  2. The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Slewahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem IDs to cross, after subjecting them to thorough searches using electronic devices.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages
  2. At 24:00 on February 14th 2016, closed the main road near the entrance of “Bet El” settlement which leads to Al-Jalazoun camp with cement blocks for alleged gunfire.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 18:35, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Deir Abu Mash’al {for the alleged shooting incident towards a Israeli settler vehicle} and impeded the free flow of traffic until 22:10.
  2. At 19:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Al-Taybeh village junction located along the main road connecting Ramallah and Jericho then searched residents and vehicles
Raid
  1. At 24:00, Israeli forces raided Shuqba village.
  2. At 01:00, Israeli forces raided Al-Jalazoun camp, clashed with several residents as they stormed and searched several homes and as a result injured Ashraf Al-Eish.

JENIN

Closure
  1. On December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area  {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area  and declared the area a closed military zone.
Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the road leading to the town of ‘Arraba east of the illegal settlement Dotan.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 18:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Deir Abu Da’if village then searched residents and vehicles
Raid
  1. At 04:00 on March 8th 2016, Israeli forces raided Jenin city, detained a resident after storming and searching his home.
Detention
  1. Israeli forces detained Ahmad Nasri Mustafa Ibrahim in Jenin city.
Closure of Wall Gates
  1. Israeli forces continue too close the wall gate and only allow those holding special permits to enter through it.

TULKAREM

Military Checkpoints
  1. Israeli forces continue to intensify their restrictions at “Eniv” checkpoint located along the main road connecting Tulkarem and Nablus and imped the free flow of traffic.
Raid

(i) At 16:00, Israeli forces raided Quffin town. (ii) At 18:30, Israeli forces raided Far’oun village until 19:40. (iii) At 01:25, Israeli forces raided Tulkarem, detained 2 residents (A doctor and a Journalist) then withdrew at 04:00.

Detention

Israeli forces detained 2 residents: Mu’tasim Bilah Abdallah Al-Jaroushi {A medical doctor} and Sami Sa’id Abd Al-Sa’I {A journalist

QALQILIYA

Closure of Roads
  1. Israeli forces continue to close with cement blocks agricultural roads east of Azzun town.
  2. In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
  3. Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate.
  4. At 04:50 on March 9th 2016, Israeli forces closed all the entrances leading to Haja village with dirt mounds.
Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 10:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Jit village then searched residents and vehicles.

(ii) At 11:15, Israeli force set up a checkpoint at Azzun bridge located along the main road connecting Qalqiliya and Tulkarem then searched residents and vehicles.

(iii) At 15:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area located between Azzun and Izbit Al-Tabib village then searched residents and vehicles. (iv) At 20:00, Israeli force sset up a checkpoint at the entrance of Hajja village then searched residents and vehicles.

(v) At 20:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area located between Azzun and Izbit Al-Tabib village then searched residents and vehicles until 21:30.

(vi) At 03:05, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area between Al-Fanduq and Haja village and prevented residents from entering Haja village.

Raid
  1. At 17:20, Israeli forces raided Immatin village.
  2. At 02:00, Israeli forces raided Hajja village, stormed and searched the family home of Bashar Mohammad Abdel-Qadder Masalha {who was killed by Israeli forces} and several neighbouring homes, temporarily detained several residents inside a room as they were questioned by Israeli Intelligence officers and during which Israeli military engineers took measurement of the home in order to proper it for demolition and confiscated several personal items belonging to Bashar Mohammad Abdel-Qadder Masalha {who was killed by Israeli forces}then withdrew at 04:40.
  3. At 02:30, Israeli forces raided Kafr Qaddum village and detained a resident.
Detention
  • Israeli forces detained Mo’ayad Aref Ishtewi in Kafr Qaddum village.
Killings

At 19:00, Bashar Mohammad Abdel-Qadder Masalha (22 years old){A resident of Hajja village} was killed after Israeli forces opened fire towards him for allegedly stabbing several Israeli settlers in Haifa city located inside the Green Line {As alleged by the Israeli Military}.

Attack
  1. At 18:20, Israeli forces positioned near the wall gate in Al-Naqar neighbourhood in Qalqiliya city opened fire towards Sami Osma Abu Issa and as a result left him hospitalised.
Land Levelling

At 12:00, Israeli military bulldozers levelled 42 dunums {acres} of agricultural land owned by Shaqir family located behind the wall gate in Habala town.

Closure of Wall Gates
  1. The Israeli army continues to restrict access at ‘Azzun ‘Atma Wall gate and impeded the free flow of traffic. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the entrance to the village of Wadi Al- Rasha and to deny civilian access.
  2. The Israeli army allows residents to access the village through Gate #109. Having removed the gate at the entrance to the village of Ras Atiya; the Israeli army only allows students to cross to their schools outside the village through the Habla gate.

NABLUS

Closure
  • Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area.
Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the northern entrance to Qabalan town; the southern entrances to the town of Jamma’in and the villages of Duma and Qaryut. (ii) Since 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds. (iii) Since 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area. (iv) Since 18:30 on January 19th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Huwara and Walada village with dirt mounds.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 09:25, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area between Jama’in and Zeita village then searched residents and vehicles until 12:25. (ii) At 13:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area between Tel and Burin and temporarily detained Eyad Othman Sa'adah Ishtayeh {A Palestinian Police officer} then released him at a later time.

Raid

(i) At 01:00, Israeli forces raided Qussin village, clashed with several residents then withdrew at 03:05. (ii) At 03:15, Israeli forces raided Beita village, stormed and searched several homes then withdrew at 05:00.

Detention

Israeli forces detained Jasser Fateh Qaddus in Iraq Burin village.

Settlers Violence

At 03:55, Israeli settlers stormed Nablus city and attempted to enter Josephs’ tomb then were chased away by Palestinian Police officers guarding the site.

SALFIT

Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the entrance to two detour roads connecting Marda village to its farmland.
  2. Since 11:00 on July 30th 2012, Israeli forces have closed two roads leading to Abu Nasar and Qatan Al-Jama’ located in western area of Deir Istiya with cement blocks.
Military Checkpoints

At 08:45, Israeli forces intensified its restrictions at Za’tara junction and impeded the free flow of traffic.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 17:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the West entrance of Deir Istiya and detained a resident. (ii) At 17:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the west entrance of Harris village then searched residents and vehicles. (iii) At 20:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Zawiya town then searched residents and vehicles. (iv) At 21:05, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Deir Ballout then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

(i) At 12:55, Israeli forces raided Qitray village. (ii) At 19:25, Israeli forces raided Kafil Harris town. (iii) At 22:00, Israeli forces raided Al-Zaawiya town, stormed and searched the family home of Abdel-Rahman Mahmoud Radad {who was killed by Israeli Forces} temporarily detained several residents who were questioned by Israeli Intelligence officers then withdrew at 01:30. (iv) At 01:10, Israeli forces raided Kafr Al-Dik, stormed and searched 2 homes then withdrew at 04:05.

Detention

Israeli forces detained Hamza Marwan Ahmad Buziya {A resident of Kafil Harris town} near the west entrance of Deir Istiya.

Killings

At 17:00, Abdel-Rahman Mahmoud Radad {A resident of Al-Zawiya town in Salfit district} was killed after Israeli forces opened fire towards him for allegedly stabbing a Israeli settler inside the Green line {As alleged by the Israeli Military}.

JERICHO

Military Checkpoints

Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District.

Raid

(i) At 01:30, Israeli forces raided Jericho city and Ein Al-Sultan camp, stormed several homes, set up a checkpoint, detained a resident after confiscated a Motorcycle then withdrew at 03:40. (ii) At 03:40, Israeli forces raided Ein Dweik village , stormed several homes, detained a resident after confiscated a motorcycle then withdrew at 04:05.

Detention

(i) At 14:00, Israeli forces positioned at Al-Hamra checkpoint detained Mohammad Yasser Arif Al-Tubasi (A resident of Al-Rahiya village in nHebron district) for allegedly finding approximately 4000 rounds of ammunition in his possession {as alleged by the Israeli Military}. (ii) Israeli forces detained Khaled Abdel-Aziz Safi in Ein Al-Sultan camp. (iii) Israeli forces detained Jamil Abu Kharabish in Ein Dweik village.

BETHLEHEM

Closure
  1. The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
  2. Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities.
Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds. (ii) Since 10:45 on September 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the agricultural road located in Arab Al-Rashaydeh village located near “Malee Amous” settlement with dirt mounds. (iii) Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires. (iv) At 09:15 on February 16th 2016, Israeli forces closed the bypass road connecting Za’tara and Ush Al-Ghurab area located in east Beit Sahur town with dirt mounds. (v) On February 25th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main entrance gate leading to Um Al-Rakaba area in Al-Khader. (vi) At 16:30 on March 7th 2016, Israeli forces closed the south entrance of Nihalin.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 09:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in Ush Al-Ghurab area located in east Beit Sahur then searched residents and vehicles. (ii) At 19:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Dar Salah village located at the east entrance of Beit Sahur then searched residents and vehicles until 21:00.

Raid

(i) At 16:35, Israeli forces raided Khirbit Al-Dir vilage, clashed with several residents then withdrew at 16:55. (ii) At 19:00, Israeli forces raided Al-Khader. (iii) At 01:40, Israeli forces raided Bethlehem and Al-Duhisheh camp and Doha town, clashed with several residents as they stormed and searched several homes and detained 5 residents in the camp then withdrew at 04:50.

Attack

At 14:50, Israeli forces positioned near Ayda camp located in North Bethlehem fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for the alleged stoning.

Detention

Israeli forces detained 5 residents: Rabi’ Mazen Abdel-Qadder Raqban , Ahmad Aref Sar’awa, Khalil Ahmad Abu Arafa, Mohammad Assad Mohammad Daoud and Qusay Abu Zienah in Al-Duhisheh camp

HEBRON

Closure

(i) The Israeli army continues to close Al-Shuhada’ Street, Al-Sahleh and Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighborhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed. (ii) Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City. (ii) The Israeli army continues to close the bypass road connecting Bani Na’im and Zif village junction with dirt mounds. (iii) The Israeli Army continues to close the entrance of Beit Ummar (located near the local Cemetery) with dirt mounds.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 012:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Aroub camp then searched residents and vehicles. (ii) At 22:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Al-Tabaqa village junction, temporarily detained Salem Jamal Abu Hilal then released him at a later time.

Raid

At 10:35 and again at 20:00, Israeli forces raided Hebron city until 21:00.

Detention

(i) At dawn on March 8th 2016, Israeli forces detained Ghassan Abdel-Athim Al-Qaysi during their raid into Ithna in addition to those mentioned in the previous report. (ii) At 01:00 on March 8th 2016, Israeli forces detained Faysal Jum’a Badawi during their raid into Hebron city in addition to those mentioned in the previous report.

Physical Assault

At 18:30, Israeli forces positioned in the old city of Hebron assaulted Diya Zuhier Abdel-Jawad Abu Mizar and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions.

GAZA STRIP

ALL DISTRICTS

  • At 19:00 on August 26th 2014, Palestinian Gunmen and the Israeli military agreed to a cease fire agreement (brokered by the Arab Republic of Egypt) which includes the opening of border crossings to allow the entry of emergency supplies and humanitarian goods as well as construction material and agreed to increase the fishing limit to 6 nautical miles with possibility of  increase to 12 nautical miles by the end of the year and to decrease the Military area to 100 meters, allow freedom of movement and a halt to targeted killings and assassinations and negotiations will be held for discussion on rebuilding the sea port and airports in the coming month.
  • Israeli forces broke the ceasefire agreement by opening fire from their positions behind the Green Line towards, Gaza, Central Gaza, Khan Yunis and Rafah.

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points
  1. Beit Hanun (Erez) is open for the passage of critical patients, journalists, NGO staff, businessmen and passengers travelling abroad through Al-Karama crossing with previous coordination.

GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points
  1. Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
  2. Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
Attack

At 16:00, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Jahr Al-Dik town located in south east Gaza city.

CENTRAL GAZA

Attack

At 19:20, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Al-Buriej camp.

KHAN YUNIS

Attack

At 08:30, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Al-Qarara town.

RAFAH

Closure of Crossing Points
  1. Yasser ‘Arafat International Airport remains closed.
  2. Rafah (Al ‘Awdah) Crossing is closed
  3. Sufa Crossing is closed
  4. Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing is open for the entry of tourist and foreign diplomats and the entry of Humanitarian assistance and construction material funded by UNRWA.

At 09:00, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in North east Rafah city.
