Daily Report March 29, 2016

WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure
  • On March 28th 2016, the Israeli army, intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers under the age of 50 from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
  • The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
  • The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.
Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
  • The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint. 
Military Checkpoints
  • Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
  • On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu ‘fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 13:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Eizariya town (located near “Malee Adumim” settlement) then searched residents and vehicles.
Raid
  • At 04:15, Israeli forces raided Qalandiya camp, stormed and searched several homes and detained a resident from his work place at a gas station.
Detention
  •  Israeli forces detained Ahmad Majed Mohammad Daoud in Qalandiya camp.
House Occupation
  • At 21:30, Israeli forces stormed Al-Jaderiya village and occupied a home owned by Yunis Bader Abdallah Qassim  then converted its rooftop into a military post.
Destruction of Property
  • At 06:00, Israeli forces stormed Silwan neighbourhood in Jerusalem city, demolished a soccer field and the concrete walls surrounding it as they levelled a plot of land and also demolished a storage room owned by Khaled Al-Zir and Sumrein family.
Obstruction of Places of Worship
  • At 09:00, Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli Military and Police forces stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem and provoked worshipers.
Closure of Wall Gates
  • The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
  • The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Slewahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem IDs to cross, after subjecting them to thorough searches using electronic devices.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages
  • At 24:00 on February 14th 2016, closed the main road near the entrance of “Bet El” settlement which leads to Al-Jalazoun camp with cement blocks for alleged gunfire.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 14:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Khirbithat Al-Misbah village then searched residents and vehicles.
  • At 15:35, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Atarah bridge then searched residents and vehicles.
  • At 20:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Ras Kar Kar village then searched residents and vehicles until 22:00.
Raid
  • At dawn on March 28th 2016, Israeli forces raided Beit Ur At Tahta and detained a child.
  • At 00:25, Israeli forces raided Beit Liqya and detained 3 children.
  • At 01:00, Israeli forces raided Bir Ziet town until 05:50.
  • At 03:55, Israeli forces raided Al-Mazra’a Al-Gharbiya village and detained a resident.
Detention
  • At 03:30 on March 28th 2016, Israeli forces detained 2 residents: Hani Taha Abu Taha and Mohammad Abdel-Qadder Zahran during their raid into Deir Abu Mash’al village in addition to those mention in the previous report.
  • Israeli forces detained Ahmad Raed Jadallah (17 years old) in Beit Ur At Tahta town.
  • Israeli forces detained 3 residents: Ahmad Raed Jadallah (16 years old), Mohammad Mahmoud Othman (16 years old) and Mohammad Samer Othman (16 years old) in Beit Liqya town.
  • Israeli forces detained Saher Shartih in Al-Mazra’a Al-Gharbiya village.

JENIN

Closure
  • On December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area  {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area  and declared the area a closed military zone.
Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the road leading to the town of ‘Arraba east of the illegal settlement Dotan and the south entrance of Ya’bad.
Raid
  • At 01:00, Israeli forces raided Sanour village and summoned Mu’tasim Hatem Gharbiya to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.
  • At 02:00, Israeli forces raided Ajja village.
Closure of Wall Gates
  • Israeli forces continue too close the wall gate and only allow those holding special permits to enter through it.

TUBAS

Closure of Roads
  • At 12:30 on March 15th 2016, Israeli forces closed the east entrance of Aqaba village with cement blocks.

TULKAREM

Military Checkpoints
  • At 09:00, Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at “Eniv” checkpoint located along the main road connecting Tulkarem and Nablus and impeded the free flow of traffic until 13:20.
Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 12:25, Israeli force set up a checkpoint along Al-Kafriyat road which connects Tulkarem and Qalqiliya then searched residents and vehicles until 14:00. (ii) At 17:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Baqa Al-Sharqiya and Allar town junctions then searched residents and vehicles.

QALQILIYA

Closure of Roads
  • Israeli forces continue to close with cement blocks agricultural roads east of Azzun town.
  • In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
  • Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate.
Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 18:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Jit village junction then searched residents and vehicles until 23:00. (ii) At 18:45, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Qalqiliya then searched residents and vehicles until 19:10. (iii) At 19:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Jinsafut village then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

At 03:00, Israeli forces raided Azzun, stormed several homes and detained 4 residents.

Detention

(i) On March 28th 2016, Israeli forces detained Shadi Mohammad Salah Hardan (A resident of Qalqiliya). (ii) Israeli forces detained 4 residents: Shadi Faysal Hassan Hussien, Saqer Firas Abdel-Kareem Shabatiya, Alaa Ghalib Mohammad Shaker and Ahmad Mohammad Amin Badwan in Azzun.

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to restrict access at ‘Azzun ‘Atma Wall gate and impeded the free flow of traffic. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the entrance to the village of Wadi Al- Rasha and to deny civilian access. (ii) The Israeli army allows residents to access the village through Gate #109. Having removed the gate at the entrance to the village of Ras Atiya; the Israeli army only allows students to cross to their schools outside the village through the Habla gate.

NABLUS

Closure
  • Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area.
Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the roads of Til-Burin and Beit Furik-Salem; the settler bypass road connecting the village of Deir al Hatab to the settlement of Alon Moreh; the road connecting the town of ‘Aqraba to the village of Osrin; and the detour road between the town of Qabalan and the village of Osrin. (ii) The Israeli army continues to close the northern entrance to Qabalan town; the southern entrances to the town of Jamma’in and the villages of Duma and Qaryut. (iii) At 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds. (iv) On November 29th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Burin, Awarta and Osirin as well as the agricultural bypass road connecting Aqraba and Qabalan village with dirt mounds. (v) At 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area. (vi) At 18:30 on January 19th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Huwara and Walada village with dirt mounds.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 12:45, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near “Yitzhar” settlement junction in North Huwara then searched residents and vehicles until 13:55. (ii) At 23:05, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Deir Sharaf village junction then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

At 03:05, Israeli forces raided Duma village, stormed and searched 9 homes, detained a resident then withdrew at 05:40.

Detention

Israeli forces detained Adam Khalil Dawabsheh in Duma village.

Temporary Detention

At 18:20, Israeli forces positioned Beit Furiq checkpoint temporarily detained Mohammad Yusef Thiyab Al-Dari (A resident of Tulkarem) then released him at 19:30.

SALFIT

Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the entrance to two detour roads connecting Marda village to its farmland.
  • Since 11:00 on July 30th 2012, Israeli forces have closed two roads leading to Abu Nasar and Qatan Al-Jama’ located in western area of Deir Istiya with cement blocks.
Military Checkpoints

Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Za’tara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic.

Raid

(i) At 15:15, Israeli forces raided Harris village, temporarily detained several residents then released them after questioning by Israeli Intelligence officers and withdrew at 16:20. (ii) At 20:10, Israeli forces raided Kafr Al-Dik town, clashed with several residents then withdrew at 22:30.

Detention

At 08:20, Israeli forces positioned at Za’tara checkpoint detained Ahmad Abdel-Kareem Al-Awawi (A resident of Hebron city).

JERICHO

Military Checkpoints
  • Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District.
Raid

At 01:25, Israeli forces raided Fasayil village and summoned Mahdi Jamal Ishtayan Shalafah to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.

Detention

At 13:05, Israeli forces positioned at Allenby bridge detained Hamam Ghalib Al-Shanti (A resident of Qalqiliya city) as he was returning from Jordan.

BETHLEHEM

Closure
  • The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
  • Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities.
Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds. (iv) Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires. (v) At 09:15 on February 16th 2016, Israeli forces closed the bypass road connecting Za’tara and Ush Al-Ghurab area located in east Beit Sahur town with dirt mounds. (vi) On February 25th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main steel entrance gate leading to Um Al Rakaba area in Al-Khader town. (vii) At 22:40 on March 17th 2016, Israeli forces closed all entrances leading to Beit Fajjar thus preventing residents or vehicles from entering or exiting. (viii) At 12:25 on March 18th 2016, Israeli forces closed the east entrance of Marah Rabah village.

Flying Checkpoints

At 22:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in Aqbat Hasnah area located near the entrance of Husan village then searched residents and vehicles until 23:00.

Raid

(i) At 22:10, Israeli forces raided Husan village, clashed with several residents then withdrew at 23:00. (ii) At 01:50, Israeli forces raided Taqou’ town, stormed and searched 9 homes and detained a resident. (iii) At 02:25, Israeli forces raided Al-Duhisheh camp in Bethlehem, clashed with several residents as they stormed and searched a home. (iv) At 03:00, Israeli forces raided Al-Khader, temporarily detained Saoud Amer Salah then released him after assaulting him.

Detention

(i) On March 25th 2016, Israeli forces positioned at Container checkpoint detained Abdel Rahman Waleed Al-Teeti (A resident of Al-Fuwar camp in Hebron district). (ii) At 03:00 on March 28th 2016, Israeli forces detained 2 children: Layth Isam Mazid Sbatin (15 years old) and Abdel-Rahman Taher Mustafa Za’oul (15 years old) during their raid into Husan village in addition to those mentioned in the previous report. (iii) Israeli forces detained Mahmoud Salem Al-Bidan in Taqou’ town

Temporary Detention

At 00:40, Israeli forces positioned at Container checkpoint temporarily detained Ibrahim Maslam Baraq’a (A resident of Ayda camp in Bethlehem city) then released him at a later time.

House Demolition

At 09:10, Israeli forces demolished a home owned by Khader Nimer Jarishi located near checkpoint (300) in North Bethlehem city for allegedly being built without a licence.

HEBRON

Closure
  • The Israeli army continues to close Al-Sahleh and Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighbourhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed.
  • Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.
Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City. (ii) The Israeli army continues to close the bypass road connecting Bani Na’im and Zif village junction with dirt mounds. (iii) The Israeli Army continues to close the entrance of Beit Ummar (located near the local Cemetery) with dirt mounds

Flying Checkpoints

At 15:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Beit Einoun village then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

(i) At 00:40, Israeli forces raided Hebron city, detained 4 residents including a journalist. (ii) At 02:00, Israeli forces raided Yatta town and detained 3 residents. (iii) At 02:30, Israeli forces raided Deir Sammit village, stormed and searched a home and detained a resident. (iv) At dawn on March 29th 2016, Israeli forces raided Abu Al-Asja village and detained a resident.

Detention

(i) Israeli forces detained 4 residents: Mu’ab Khamis Faqishah (A journalist), Raed Hamidan Sharabati, Sa’id Abu Sneneh and Mahmoud Sader in Hebron city. (ii) Israeli forces detained 3 residents: Ahmad Thabet Hassan Najjar,Samir Mohammad Bahis and Mohammad Mahmoud Abu Zanid in Yatta. (iii) Israeli forces detained Riyad Mohammad Hussien Al-Haroub in Deir Sammit village. (iv) Israeli forces detained Riyad Namourah Maslam Namourah in Abu Al-Asja village.

Settlers Violence

At 13:40, a Israeli settler vehicle travelling near Zif village junction ran over the child Ibrahim Mohammad Hassan Al-Harini (6 years old) and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions.

GAZA STRIP

ALL DISTRICTS

  • At 19:00 on August 26th 2014, Palestinian Gunmen and the Israeli military agreed to a cease fire agreement (brokered by the Arab Republic of Egypt) which includes the opening of border crossings to allow the entry of emergency supplies and humanitarian goods as well as construction material and agreed to increase the fishing limit to 6 nautical miles with possibility of  increase to 12 nautical miles by the end of the year and to decrease the Military area to 100 meters, allow freedom of movement and a halt to targeted killings and assassinations and negotiations will be held for discussion on rebuilding the sea port and airports in the coming month.
  • Israeli forces broke the cease fire agreement by opening fire from their positions behind the Green Line towards North Gaza, Gaza and Khan Yunis.

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points
  • Beit Hanun (Erez) is open for the passage of critical patients, journalists, NGO staff, businesspersons and passengers travelling abroad through Al-Karama crossing with previous coordination.
Attack
  • At 11:10, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in Abu Samra area located in North Beit Lahiya town.
  • At 11:10, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green line opened fire towards agricultural land located in North east Beit Hanoun town.

GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points
  • Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
  • Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
Attack
  • At 11:00, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Al-Shuja’iya neighbourhood located in east Gaza city.

KHAN YUNIS

Attack
  • At 11:00, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Al-Shuja’iya neighbourhood located in east Gaza city.

RAFAH

Closure of Crossing Points
  • Yasser ‘Arafat International Airport remains closed.
  • Rafah (Al ‘Awdah) Crossing is closed
  • Sufa Crossing is closed
  • Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing is open for the entry of tourist and foreign diplomats and the entry of Humanitarian assistance and construction material funded by UNRWA.
