WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure
  • On March 17th  2016, the Israeli army, intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
  • The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
  • The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.
Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
  • The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint. 
Military Checkpoints
  • Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
  • On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu ‘fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall.
Raid
  • At dawn on March 17th 2016, Israeli forces raided Qalandiya camp then stormed and searched a home.
  • At 16:30, Israeli forces raided Hizma village {for the alleged stoning of a Israeli settlers vehicle by several children} and closed the checkpoint located the village entrance then withdrew at a later time.
Detention
  • On the evening of March 16th 2016, Israeli forces detained Ehab Jabr Subhi Abu Sbieh (A resident of Beit Surik village).
Deportation
  • At 15:50, Israeli forces issued orders for the expulsion 3 residents: Fadi Al-Matour, Jadallah Al-Ghoul and Jihad Awidat from the city of Jerusalem for a period of 3 days and were also summoned for additional questioning on March 20th 2016.
Obstruction of Places of Worship
  • At 09:00, Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli Military and Police forces stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem and provoked worshipers.
Closure of Wall Gates
  • The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
  • The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Slewahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem IDs to cross, after subjecting them to thorough searches using electronic devices.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages.
  • At 24:00 on February 14th 2016, closed the main road near the entrance of “Bet El” settlement which leads to Al-Jalazoun camp with cement blocks for alleged gunfire.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 13:05, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Atara Bridge then searched residents and vehicles.
Raid
  • At 01:30, Israeli forces raided Al-Bireh city and fired stun grenades towards several residents then withdrew at 05:45.
Detention
  • At 01:10 on March 17th 2016, Israeli forces detained 2 residents: Alaa Jamal Odat and Faysal Shahin Jum’a during their raid into Beituniya in addition to those mentioned in the previous report.
  • At 22:30, Israeli forces detained Ahed Yusef Al-Shami (A resident of Beit Ur At Tahta village) as he was reporting to Israeli intelligence for questioning based on a prior summon.

JENIN

Closure
  • On December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area  {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area  and declared the area a closed military zone

  • Israeli forces detained Islam Yusef Shawahna in Al-Silah Al-Harthiya town.

  • Israeli forces continue to close the wall gate and only allow those holding special permits to enter through it.
  • On March 17th 2017, The Israeli Military began construction of the wall along the main road located in south Ya’bad near “Movo Dotan” settlement in Jenin.

TUBAS

Closure of main Roads
  • At 12:30 on March 15th 2016, Israeli forces closed the east entrance of Al-Aqaba village with cement blocks.

TULKAREM

Military Checkpoints
  • At 08:45, Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at “Eniv” checkpoint located along the main road connecting Tulkarem and Nablus and impeded the free flow of traffic until 11:00
Raid
  • At 21:35, Israeli forces raided Al-Ras village until 20:30.
  • At 23:55, Israeli forces raided Beit Lid town until 00:45.

QALQILIYA

Closure of Roads
  • Israeli forces continue to close with cement blocks agricultural roads east of Azzun town.
  • In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
  • Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 13:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Qalqiliya then searched residents and vehicles.
  • At 14:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Izbit Al-Tabib village then searched residents and vehicles.
  • At 19:55, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Jit village junction then searched residents and vehicles.
Raid
  • At 18:00, Israeli forces raided Jit village until 20:30.
  • At 01:50, Israeli forces raided Hablah village, stormed a home and detained a resident.
Detention
  • Israeli forces detained Mahmoud Ismail Al-Haroub in Hablah town.
Closure of Wall Gates
  • The Israeli army continues to restrict access at ‘Azzun ‘Atma Wall gate and impeded the free flow of traffic. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the entrance to the village of Wadi Al- Rasha and to deny civilian access.
  • The Israeli army allows residents to access the village through Gate #109. Having removed the gate at the entrance to the village of Ras Atiya; the Israeli army only allows students to cross to their schools outside the village through the Habla gate.

NABLUS

Closure
  • Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area.
Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close the northern entrance to Qabalan town; the southern entrances to the town of Jamma’in and the villages of Duma and Qaryut.
  • Since 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds.
  • Since 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area.
  • Since 18:30 on January 19th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Huwara and Walada village with dirt mounds.
Military Checkpoints
  • At 22:40, Israeli forces closed Huwara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic until reopening it at a later time.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 12:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near the south entrance of Jama’in town then searched residents and vehicles.
  • At 17:45, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Beit Dajan village, temporarily detained Mu’in Abdel-Fattah Saleem Dabiyat (A National Security Force Officer) then released him at 19:00.
Detention
  • At 19:45, Israeli forces detained 2 residents including a child: Ameer Abdel-Min’im Khatatbah (17 years old) and Zakariya Abdel-Min’im Khatatbah as they were reporting to Israeli Intelligence for questioning based on a prior summon.
Settlers Violence
  • At 13:20, Israeli settlers riding motorcycles stormed the area located between Huwara Town and Burin village located near “Yitzhar” settlement.

SALFIT

Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the entrance to two detour roads connecting Marda village to its farmland.
  • Since 11:00 on July 30th 2012, Israeli forces have closed two roads leading to Abu Nasar and Qatan Al-Jama’ located in western area of Deir Istiya with cement blocks.
Military Checkpoints
  • Israeli forces continue to intensify their restrictions at Za’tara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic.
Raid
  • At 13:10, Israeli forces raided Bidya town, stormed a stone Mill  owned by Ratib Mohammad Al-Khateeb then withdrew at 16:30.
Detention
  • At 18:10, Israeli forces detained Tahseen Saud Abdallah (A resident of Bruqin town) as he was working in “Barkan” settlement.
  • At 04:30, Israeli forces positioned at Za’tara checkpoint detained Hamad Faris Hamad Al-Awasi (A resident of Qalqiliya){A Police Officer}.
Killings
  • At 11:20, 2 residents: Ali Mohammad Taqatqa(19 years old) and Ali Abdel-Rahman Al-Qar Thawabta (20 years old) were killed after Israeli forces opened fire towards them for allegedly stabbing a Israeli soldier near “Arial” settlement.

JERICHO

Military Checkpoints
  • Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 10:45, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint along the main road in Al-Oja village then searched residents and vehicles.
  • At 10:45 and again at 20:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint along road (90) located near Al-New’meh village junction at the north entrance of Jericho then searched residents and vehicles until 21:05
Raid
  • At 02:00, Israeli forces raided Al-Oja village, detained 2 residents, temporarily detained several residents then released them after questioning by Israeli Intelligence officers then withdrew at 02:40.
Detention
  • At 01:15 on March 17th 2016, Israeli forces detained 2 residents: Fadi Salameh Mohammad Abu Kharabish {A National Security Force Officer} and Ali Salameh Mohammad Abu Kharabish during their raid into Al-Oja village in addition to those mentioned in the previous report.

BETHLEHEM

Closure
  • The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
  • Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities.
Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala  ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to  Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds.
  • Since 10:45 on September 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the agricultural road located in Arab Al-Rashaydeh village located near “Malee Amous” settlement with dirt mounds.
  • Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires.
  • At 09:15 on February 16th 2016, Israeli forces closed the bypass road connecting Za’tara and Ush Al-Ghurab area located in east Beit Sahur town with dirt mounds.
  • On February 25th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main entrance gate leading to Um Al-Rakaba area in Al-Khader.
  • At 22:40 on March 17th 2016, Israeli forces closed all entrances of Beit Fajjar town and prevented residents from entering or exiting the town.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 16:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the West entrance of Beit Fajjar and prevented residents from entering or exiting the town.
  • At 18:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the West entrance of Taqou’ then searched residents and vehicles until 19:20.
Raid
  • At 10:30, Israeli forces raided Husan village until 11:00.
  • At 14:45, Israeli forces raided Jurat Al-Sham’a village (after the alleged stoning of a Israeli settler vehicle), stormed a Stone Mill owned by Ibrahim Khalil Fawakhra and temporarily detained 2 residents: Issa Ayman Ismail Fawakhrah and Mahmoud Aref Khalil Fawakhra and released them at a later time then withdrew at 14:55.
  • At 17:10, Israeli forces raided Al-Obidiya, temporarily detained Raed Mohammad Hussein Al-Mahina (A resident of Yatta town in Hebron District) then released him at a later time and again at 00:40.
  • At 17:25, Israeli forces raided Al-Khader until 18:20.
  • At 03:05, Israeli forces raided Beit Fajjar town, stormed and searched 2 homes and detained a resident.
Attack
  • At 12:20, Israeli forces positioned in Al-Ayda camp located in North Bethlehem city fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
Detention
  • At 20:15, Israeli forces detained Muhanad Sa’ed Salah (A resident of Al-Khader) in “Kafar Itsiyon” settlement  as he was submitting a formal complaint against the settlers that set fire to his home furniture in Shushhilah area located in Al-Khader near “Danail” settlement {As mentioned in the report of March 11th 2016}.
  • Israeli forces detained Abdallah Ahmad Abdel-Rahman Taqatqa in Beit Fajjar.

HEBRON

Closure
  • The Israeli army continues to close Al-Shuhada’ Street, Al-Sahleh and Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighbourhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed.
  • Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.
Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City.
  • The Israeli army continues to close the bypass road connecting Bani Na’im and Zif village junction with dirt mounds.
  • The Israeli Army continues to close the entrance of Beit Ummar (located near the local Cemetery) with dirt mounds.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 09:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Fuwar camp then searched residents and vehicles.
  • At 10:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Samou’ then searched residents and vehicles.
  • At 10:55, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Dura then searched residents and vehicles until 11:00.
  • At 16:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Ithna then searched residents and vehicles.
  • At 17:45, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint  at Zif village and in Al-Fahis area located in south Hebron city  then searched residents and vehicles.
  • At 19:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Aroub camp and prevented residents from entering or exiting the area and then withdrew at a later time.
  • At 21:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Sa’ir then searched residents and vehicles.
Attack
  • At 10:10, Israeli forces positioned near the entrance of Al-Fuwar camp fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
Detention
  • At 21:00 on March 16th 2016, Israeli forces detained Fareed Jaber during their raid into Hebron city in addition to those mentioned in the previous report.
GAZA STRIP

ALL DISTRICTS

  • At 19:00 on August 26th 2014, Palestinian Gunmen and the Israeli military agreed to a cease fire agreement (brokered by the Arab Republic of Egypt) which includes the opening of border crossings to allow the entry of emergency supplies and humanitarian goods as well as construction material and agreed to increase the fishing limit to 6 nautical miles with possibility of  increase to 12 nautical miles by the end of the year and to decrease the Military area to 100 meters, allow freedom of movement and a halt to targeted killings and assassinations and negotiations will be held for discussion on rebuilding the sea port and airports in the coming month.  
  • Israeli forces broke the cease fire agreement by opening fire from their positions behind the Green Line towards Khan Yunis.
  • Israeli Naval vessels broke the cease fire agreement by opening fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of North Gaza and Rafah.

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points
  • Beit Hanun (Erez) is open for the passage of critical patients, journalists, NGO staff, businesspersons and passengers travelling abroad through Al-Karama crossing with previous coordination.
Attack
  • At 07:30, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Al-Sudaniya area in west Beit Lahiya.

GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points
  • Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
  • Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.

KHAN YUNIS

Attack
  • At 08:30, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land located in east Khaz’aa town.

RAFAH

Closure of Crossing Points
  • Yasser ‘Arafat International Airport remains closed.
  • Rafah (Al ‘Awdah) Crossing is closed
  • Sufa Crossing is closed
  • Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing is open for the entry of tourist and foreign diplomats and the entry of Humanitarian assistance and construction material funded by UNRWA
Attack
  • At 07:30 on March 17th 2016, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Rafah.
