WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure
  • On March 12th 2016, the Israeli army, intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers under the age of 50 from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
  • The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
  • The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.
Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
  • The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint. 
Military Checkpoints
  • Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
  • On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu ‘fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 21:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Qalandiya village then searched residents and vehicles.
  • At 21:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint beneath Bir Nabala bridge then searched residents and vehicles.
Detention
  • Israeli forces detained 3 residents: Mohammad Khaled Shihadeh (17 years old), Mahmoud Omar Zied and Rami Abdel-Hameed Hamoud in Qalandiya camp.
Closure of Wall Gates
  • The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
  • The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Slewahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages
  • At 24:00 on February 14th 2016, closed the main road near the entrance of “Bet El” settlement which leads to Al-Jalazoun camp with cement blocks for alleged gunfire.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 17:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Nabi Saleh village then searched residents and vehicles until 22:30.
  • At 18:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area between Deir Ibzi’ and Ras Kar Kar villages then searched residents and vehicles.
  • At 18:45, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Atarah bridge then searched residents and vehicles.
  • At 22:05, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Shuqba village then searched residents and vehicles until 23:00.
  • At 22:05, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Beit Ur Al-Foqa village then searched residents and vehicles until 23:10.
  • At 23:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area between Ras KakrKar and Kafr Ni’meh villages then searched residents and vehicles.
Raid
  • At 11:00 and again at 17:55, Israeli forces raided Beit Ur Al-Tahta village, temporarily detained Fida Mohammad Khader Suliman then released her at 23:50 then withdrew at 22:05.
  • At 22:40, Israeli forces raided Kafr Ni’meh village and summoned Ayed Khalil Yassin to report to Israeli intelligence for questioning then withdrew at 23:00.

JENIN

Closure
  • On December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area  {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area  and declared the area a closed military zone.
Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the road leading to the town of ‘Arraba east of the illegal settlement Dotan and the south entrance of Ya’bad.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 14:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Jalboun village then searched residents and vehicles until 15:00.
  • On the evening of March 12th 2016, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Qabatiya town and detained a resident.
Raid
  • At 16:50, Israeli forces raided Ya’bad, clashed with residents and detained a resident.
Detention
  • Israeli forces detained Abdallah Sba’neh Al-Saho at the entrance of Qabatiya town.
  • Israeli forces detained Mohammad Issa Mahmoud Ghazawi in Ya’bad town
Closure of Wall Gates
  •  Israeli forces continue too close the wall gate and only allow those holding special permits to enter through it.

TULKAREM

Military Checkpoints
  • At 19:20, Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at “Eniv” checkpoint located along the main road connecting Tulkarem and Nablus and impeded the free flow of traffic until 21:40.
Raid
  • At 11:20, Israeli forces raided Bal’a until 14:25.
  • Israeli forces raided Attil town.

QALQILIYA

Closure of Roads
  • Israeli forces continue to close with cement blocks agricultural roads east of Azzun town.
  • In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
  • Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 07:50 on March 12th 2016, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area between Jayyus and Azzun towns then searched residents and vehicles.
  • At 10:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area between Hajja and Al-Fanduq villages then searched residents and vehicles.
  • At 21:55, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Jit village junction, temporarily detained 4 residents: Ali Mahmoud Zidan {A National Security Force officer}, Ahmad Mustafa Abdel-Jawad, Mahmoud Mustafa Ghanam and Ahmad Adnan Abdel-Fattah Saaydeh.
Temporary Detention
  • At 10:50, Israeli forces positioned at the entrance of Izbit Al-Tabib village temporarily detained Jafar Idris Al-Ashqar {A taxi driver} then released him at a later time.
Attack
  • At 18:30, Israeli forces positioned in Al-Muntar area located in North Azzun fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
Demonstrations
  • At 15:50, a demonstration took place in Kafr Qaddum against the closure of the east entrance during which they clashed with Israeli forces tried to disrupt the demonstration by firing live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards demonstrators who attempted to reach they demonstration site left several residents suffocating from tear gas inhalation
Closure of Wall Gates
  • The Israeli army continues to restrict access at ‘Azzun ‘Atma Wall gate and impeded the free flow of traffic. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the entrance to the village of Wadi Al- Rasha and to deny civilian access.
  • The Israeli army allows residents to access the village through Gate #109. Having removed the gate at the entrance to the village of Ras Atiya; the Israeli army only allows students to cross to their schools outside the village through the Habla gate.

NABLUS

Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close the roads of Til-Burin and Beit Furik-Salem; the settler bypass road connecting the village of Deir al Hatab to the settlement of Alon Moreh; the road connecting the town of ‘Aqraba to the village of Osrin; and the detour road between the town of Qabalan and the village of Osrin.
  • The Israeli army continues to close the northern entrance to Qabalan town; the southern entrances to the town of Jamma’in and the villages of Duma and Qaryut.
  • At 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds.
  • On November 29th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Burin, Awarta and Osirin as well as the agricultural bypass road connecting Aqraba and Qabalan village with dirt mounds.
  • At 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area.
  • At 18:30 on January 19th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Huwara and Walada village with dirt mounds.
Military Checkpoints
  • At 06:30 on March 12th 2016, Israeli forces closed Huwara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic for residents and vehicles travelling from Nablus city after redirecting traffic through Awrata village road for alleged maintenance work at the checkpoint site then reopened it at 21:00.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 09:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area between Qabalan and Yatma village’s then searched residents and vehicles until 13:30.
  • At 20:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Jabal Al-Tur area in Nablus city then searched residents and vehicles until 21:30.
Raid
  • At 02:00, Israeli forces raided Nablus, detained a resident then withdrew at 02:50.
Detention
  • Israeli forces detained Diya Aqoub in Nablus city.

SALFIT

Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the entrance to two detour roads connecting Marda village to its farmland.
  • Since 11:00 on July 30th 2012, Israeli forces have closed two roads leading to Abu Nasar and Qatan Al-Jama’ located in western area of Deir Istiya with cement blocks.
Military Checkpoints
  • At 16:00, Israeli forces closed Za’tara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic for alleged maintenance work at the checkpoint site then reopened it at18:00.
Raid
  • At 13:00, Israeli forces raided Deir Istiya town until 14:30.

JERICHO

Military Checkpoints
  • At 11:05, Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 14:05, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the south entrance of Jericho city then searched residents and vehicles.
  • At 18:25, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the south entrance of Al-Oja village then searched residents and vehicles.

BETHLEHEM

Closure
  • The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
  • Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities.
Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala  ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to  Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds.

  • Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires.
  • At 09:15 on February 16th 2016, Israeli forces closed the bypass road connecting Za’tara and Ush Al-Ghurab area located in east Beit Sahur town with dirt mounds.
  • On February 25th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main steel entrance gate leading to Um Al Rakaba area in Al-Khader town.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 12:25 and again at 20:35, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the west entrance of Teqou’ then searched residents and vehicles until 21:45.
  • At 14:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Al-Faradis village roundabouts then searched residents and vehicles until 14:30.
Raid
  • At 01:20, Israeli forces raided Bethlehem, clashed with several residents as they stormed and searched several homes, detained 3 residents and summoned Layth Suliman Musa Al-Abiyat to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning then withdrew at 03:30.
Detention
  • Israeli forces detained 3 residents: Mohammad Atef Al-Kamal, Mustafa Adel Asakrah and Mohammad Khalil Ibrahim Hamaydeh Zaghloul in Bethlehem.

HEBRON

Closure
  • The Israeli army continues to close Al-Shuhada’ Street, Al-Sahleh and Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighbourhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed.
  • Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.
Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City.
  • The Israeli army continues to close the bypass road connecting Bani Na’im and Zif village junction with dirt mounds.
  • The Israeli Army continues to close the entrance of Beit Ummar (located near the local Cemetery) with dirt mounds.
Raid
  • At 01:10, Israeli forces raided Dura, clashed with several residents as they stormed and searched several homes, detained 2 residents, confiscated a vehicle owned by Suliman  Faqosa then withdrew at 06:10.
  • At 01:45, Israeli forces raided Khursa village and summoned Omar Al-Talahmeh to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.
Detention
  • Israeli forces detained Khaled Mohammad Fasfous and Salem Faqusa in Dura village.
  • Israeli forces detained SayefHashim Qasseh, Nabil Hashim Qesseh and Ghazi Hassan Qesseh in Thahriya town.
Settlers Violence
  • At 16:25, a group of Israeli settlers stormed the old city of Hebron and stoned several homes owned by Jaber and Da’na families.
GAZA STRIP

ALL DISTRICTS

  • At 19:00 on August 26th 2014, Palestinian Gunmen and the Israeli military agreed to a cease fire agreement (brokered by the Arab Republic of Egypt) which includes the opening of border crossings to allow the entry of emergency supplies and humanitarian goods as well as construction material and agreed to increase the fishing limit to 6 nautical miles with possibility of  increase to 12 nautical miles by the end of the year and to decrease the Military area to 100 meters, allow freedom of movement and a halt to targeted killings and assassinations and negotiations will be held for discussion on rebuilding the sea port and airports in the coming month.
  • Israeli forces broke the cease fire agreement by opening fire from their positions behind the Green Line towards North Gaza and Gaza.
  • Israeli Naval vessels broke the cease fire agreement by opening fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of North Gaza, Gaza and Central Gaza

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points
  • Beit Hanun (Erez) closed.
Attack
  • At 08:00, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire toward Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Al-Sudaniya area in west Beit Lahiya.
  • At 21:20, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land located in east Beit Hanoun
  • At 00:15, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire toward Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Al-Sudaniya area in west Beit Lahiya.
  •  At 01:40, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire toward Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Al-Sudaniya area in west Beit Lahiya.
Killings
  • On the evening of March 12th 2016, the child Isra’ Suliman Abu Khusa (6 years old) {A resident of Beit Lahiya} died of injuries sustained from Israeli air strikes towards North Gaza as mentioned in the previous report.

GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points
  • Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
  • Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision

  • At 10:15, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Al-Zaytoun neighborhood located in east   Gaza city.

  • At 01:40, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire toward Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Gaza city.
Detention
  • At 08:00 on March 12th 2016, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line detained 2 unidentified residents as they attempted to climb the border fence into Israel from east Jahir Al-Dik town located in south east Gaza city.

CENTRAL GAZA

Attack
  • At 00:20, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire toward Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Nussayrat camp.
  • At 01:40, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire toward Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Nussayrat camp.

RAFAH
