Daily Report June 11, 2016

WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure

(i) At 24:00 on June 9th 2016, The Israeli army intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented residents and workers including those carrying entry permits from entering Jerusalem city and Israel with the exception of Diplomatic missions, International Organization members, Humanitarian cases and those carrying special permits for prayer into Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
(iii) The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint.

Military Checkpoints

(i) Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
(ii) On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu ‘fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall.

Raid

On the evening of June 10th 2016, Israeli forces raided Abu Dis town, and detained a resident after storming his home.

Detention

(i) On the evening of June 9th 2016, Israeli forces positioned in Bab Al-Amoud area in Jerusalem city detained Khaled Sakafi.
(ii) On the evening of June 9th 2016, Israeli forces positioned near the wall gate in Al-Ram town detained Fadi Hatem Mahmoud Shawamrah.
(iii) At 01:30 in June 10th 2016, Israeli forces detained Assma Nabeel Bader after storming and searching his home and his steel mill and confiscated its equipment.
(iv) At 15:00, Israeli forces detained 6 residents: Ahmad Fareed Al-Basati, Ashraf Al-Sharabati, Mohammad Akram Al-Basati, Ishaq Saleem, Shadi Al-Natsheh and Ahmad Abu Sabieh in the old city of Jerusalem.
(v) Israeli forces detained Ismail Ibrahim Halabiyeh in Abu Dis.

Injuries

At 10:30 on June 10th 2016, 2 unidentified residents were injured during confrontations with Israeli forces as they raided Abu Dis town as mentioned in the previous report.

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Slewahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem IDs to cross, after subjecting them to thorough searches using electronic devices.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages
(ii) Since 24:00 on February 14th 2016, closed the main road near the entrance of “Bet El” settlement which leads to Al-Jalazoun camp with cement block.

Demonstrations

(i) At 13:20, a demonstration took place in Bil’in village protesting against the construction of the wall during which they clashed with Israeli forces and as a result suffocated several residents from tear gas inhalation.
(ii) At 13:20, a demonstration took place in Ni’lin protesting against the construction of the wall during which they clashed with Israeli forces and as a result left several residents suffocated from tear gas inhalation.
(iii) At 13:20, a demonstration took place in Al-Nabi Saleh village a demonstration took place in protesting against confiscation of land for the purpose of settlement construction during which they clashed with Israeli forces and as a result suffocated several residents from tear gas inhalation

Attack

Israeli forces clashed with demonstrators in Bil’in village , Ni’lin town and Al-Nabi Saleh village.

JENIN

Closure

On December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area and declared the area a closed military zone.

Closure of main Roads

The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the road leading to the town of ‘Arraba east of the illegal settlement Dotan.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 15:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Rumana village junction then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 23:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the east entrance of Ya’bad town then searched residents and vehicles.

Closure of Wall Gates

Israeli forces continue to close the wall gate and only allow those holding special permits to enter through it.

TUBAS

Closure of main Roads

Since 12:30 on March 15th 2016, Israeli forces closed the east entrance of Al-Aqaba village with cement blocks.

TULKAREM

Military Checkpoints

At 09:10, Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at “Eniv” checkpoint located along the main road connecting Tulkarem and Nablus and impeded the free flow of traffic until 19:30.

Raid

(i) At 16:20, Israeli forces raided Shwikiya neighbourhood in Tulkarem city and set up a checkpoint then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 03:50, Israeli forces raided Bal’a town, detained 4 residents then withdrew at 06:00.

Detention

(i) At 16:20, Israeli forces positioned at a checkpoint detained Mus’ab Adnan Ahmad Al-Hadouri {a resident of Tulkarem camp} as he was praying in Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
(ii) Israeli forces detained 4 residents: Mash’al Mohammad Abdel-Jaber Amir, Mus’ab Ghassab Affif Mir’I, Raed Mohammad Sharif Shahrour and Abdel-Latif Sharif Shahrour in Bal’a town.

QALQILIYA

Closure of Roads

(i) Israeli forces continue to close with cement blocks agricultural roads east of Azzun town.
(ii) In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
(iii) Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate.

Demonstrations

At 13:30, a demonstration took place in Kafr Qaddum against the closure of the east entrance during which they clashed with Israeli forces tried to disrupt the demonstration by firing live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards demonstrators who attempted to reach they demonstration site and left several residents suffocating from tear gas inhalation.

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to restrict access at ‘Azzun ‘Atma Wall gate and impeded the free flow of traffic. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the entrance to the village of Wadi Al- Rasha and to deny civilian access.
(ii) The Israeli army allows residents to access the village through Gate #109. Having removed the gate at the entrance to the village of Ras Atiya; the Israeli army only allows students to cross to their schools outside the village through the Habla gate.

NABLUS

Closure

Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the northern entrance to Qabalan town; the southern entrances to the town of Jamma’in and the villages of Duma and Qaryut.
(ii) Since 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds.
(iii) Since 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area.

Military Checkpoints

At 17:35, Israeli forces closed Huwara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic until reopening it at a later time.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 17:35, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Awarta village then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 19:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Sarah village junction then searched residents and vehicles.

Attack

At 17:20, Israeli forces positioned near Awarta village junction opened fire towards Hassan Khaled Al-Qaddi and as a result left him hospitalised with wounds.

Detention

At 23:45, Israeli forces positioned at a checkpoint detained Ibrahim Abdel-Kareem Marshoud {A resident of Balata camp in Nablus} as he was travelling to Jerusalem to pray in Al-Aqsa mosque compound.

SALFIT

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the entrance to two detour roads connecting Marda village to its farmland.
(ii) Since 11:00 on July 30th 2012, Israeli forces have closed two roads leading to Abu Nasar and Qatan Al-Jama’ located in western area of Deir Istiya with cement blocks.

Military Checkpoints

Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Za’tara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic.

Flying Checkpoints

At 22:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area between Burqin and Qarwat Bani Zied towns then searched residents and vehicles until 02:25.

Raid

(i) At 19:10, Israeli forces raided Bidya town until 22:30.
(ii) At 22:30, Israeli forces raided Kafr Al-Dik town until 23:15.
(iii) At 00:15, Israeli forces raided Bruqin town.

JERICHO

Military Checkpoints

Israeli forces intensified its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District and impeded the free flow of traffic.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 15:10, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the south entrance of Jericho then searched residents and vehicles until 17:00.
(ii) At 15:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the North entrance of Jericho city then searched residents and vehicles until 17:00.

Raid

At 15:30, Israeli forces raided Al-Oja village until 16:20.

BETHLEHEM

Closure

(i) The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
(ii) Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds.
(ii) Since 10:45 on September 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the agricultural road located in Arab Al-Rashaydeh village located near “Malee Amous” settlement with dirt mounds.
(iii) Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires.

HEBRON

Closure

(i) The Israeli army continues to close Al-Shuhada’ Street, Al-Sahleh and Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighbourhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed.
(ii) Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the bypass road connecting Bani Na’im and Zif village junction with dirt mounds.
(iii) The Israeli Army continues to close the entrance of Beit Ummar (located near the local Cemetery) with dirt mounds.

Raid

(i) At 01:45, Israeli forces raided Beit Amrah village, stormed and searched a home owned by the family of Murad Bader Abdallah Id’is (15 years old) and as a result clashed with several residents then withdrew at 05:00.
(ii) At 01:45, Israeli forces raided Yatta town, stormed and searched several homes and damaged the entrance door of a bakery shop owned by Jameel Khalil Awad and detained 2 residents.
(iii) At 01:45, Israeli forces raided Hebron city and stormed 2 homes.
(iv) At 02:35, Israeli forces raided Bani Na’im town then stormed and searched a home.
(v) At dawn on June 11th 2016, Israeli forces raided Al-Shiyoukh town , stormed 3 homes and detained a resident.

Detention

(i) At 14:20, Israeli forces positioned near “Magon” settlement located in east Yatta town detained Hussein Mahmoud Al-Shawahin.
(ii) Israeli forces detained 2 residents: Mu’taz Khalil Shihadeh Abu Aram and Mahmoud Mohammad Shihadeh Makhamrah in Yatta town.
(iii) Israeli forces detained Jihad Mahmoud Warasnah in Al-Shiyoukh town.

GAZA STRIP

ALL DISTRICTS

• Since 19:00 on August 26th 2014, Palestinian Gunmen and the Israeli military agreed to a cease fire agreement (brokered by the Arab Republic of Egypt) which includes the opening of border crossings to allow the entry of emergency supplies and humanitarian goods as well as construction material and agreed to increase the fishing limit to 6 nautical miles with possibility of increase to 12 nautical miles by the end of the year and to decrease the Military area to 100 meters, allow freedom of movement and a halt to targeted killings and assassinations and negotiations will be held for discussion on rebuilding the sea port and airports in the coming month.

• The Israeli Military broke the ceasefire agreement by opening fire from their positions behind the Green Line towards Central Gaza and Khan Yunis.

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

Beit Hanun (Erez) is open for the passage of critical patients, journalists, NGO staff, businesspersons and passengers travelling abroad through Al-Karama crossing with previous coordination

GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

(i) Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
(ii) Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.

CENTRAL GAZA

Attack

At 16:20 on June 10th 2016, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards several residents as they were participating in demonstrations against the Israeli military and settler assault on Al-Aqsa mosque compound.

KHAN YUNIS

Attack

At 10:45 on June 10th 2016, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Gaza.

RAFAH

Closure of Crossing Points

(i) Yasser ‘Arafat International Airport remains closed.
(ii) Rafah (Al ‘Awdah) Crossing is closed
(iii) Sufa Crossing is closed
(iv) Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing is open for the entry Humanitarian assistance.
