Daily Report January 29, 2016

WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure

(i) On January 28th 2016, the Israeli army, intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers under the age of 50 from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
(iii) The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint.
(iii) On November 16th 2015, Israeli forces closed the south entrance of Jabal Al-Mukabir neighbourhood in Jerusalem, which leads to “Armon Hantsiv” settlement with cement blocks.

Closure of Checkpoints

(i) Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
(ii) On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu’fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall.

Raid

(i) At 02:20, Israeli forces raided Al-Qabibat village, clashed with several residents after storming several homes and summoned 2 residents: Ibrahim Nu’man Makhtoub and Hufaytha Makhtoub to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning then withdrew at 04:20.
(ii) At 03:40, Israeli forces raided Abu Dis, stormed Al-Quds University after temporarily detaining the University Security Guards and then searched the College of Islamic Law studies and destroyed a computer and then searched the Student Union headquarters and confiscated a computer then withdrew at 06:00.

Detention

At 19:00, Israeli forces detained 3 residents: Rashed Ibrahim Najajrah (17 years old), Mahmoud Issa Najajrah and Abdel-Haleem Mohammad Najajrah {residents of Bethlehem} for allegedly entering Israel without proper permits.

Temporary Detention

At 20:50, Israeli forces positioned near “Malee Adumin” settlement temporarily detained the child Khalil Yasser Al-Khatib (15 years old) {a resident of Abu Dis} then released him at a later time.

Obstruction of Places of Worship

At 09:00, a group of Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli Military and Police forces stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem and provoked worshipers.

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Slewahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem IDs to cross, after subjecting them to thorough searches using electronic devices.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages and in Deir Ibzi’ village with dirt mounds.
(ii) On December 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed the West entrance of Al-Labban Al-Gharbi village with cement blocks.
(iii) At 19:35 on January 25th 2016, Israeli forces closed Shuqba village with dirt mounds.
(iv) On January 27th 2015, Israeli forces closed Beit Ur Al-Tahta village.
(v) At 11:30, on January 28th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Deir Ibzi’ village and “Doliv” settlement junction with cement blocks.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 14:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area between Khirbithat Bani Harith and Bil’in then searched residents and vehicles until 15:20.
(ii) At 11:05, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint beneath Yabroud village bridge then searched residents and vehicles until 12:00.
(iii) At 16:10, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Atarah bridge then searched residents and vehicles.
(iv) At 17:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near the entrance of Al-Nabi Saleh village and detained a resident.
(v) At 19:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Ein Sinya roundabout then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

(i) At 03:30, Israeli forces raided Al-Bireh city and detained a resident.
(ii) At 00:20, Israeli forces raided Deir Nathim village and summoned Malik Hussien Al-Tamimi to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.
(iii) At 00:30, Israeli forces raided Kafr Ein village and summoned Munthir Akram Abu Kishik to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning then withdrew at 02:45.
(iv) At 01:30, Israeli forces raided Safa village, clashed with several residents and summoned Yazen Attah Musa Karajneh to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.

Detention

(i) Israeli forces detained Iz-Al-Din Mohammad Al-Qadi in Al-Bireh city.
(ii) Israeli forces detained Hamoudeh Fathi Rahmi near the entrance of Al-Nabi Saleh village.

Confiscation of Property

At 14:00, Israeli forces positioned near “Bet El “ settlement confiscated school bags of several school children after chasing them as they were travelling to their homes in Beitin village during which Israeli forces clashed with several residents until 15:30.

JENIN

Closure

On December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area and declared the area a closed military zone

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the road leading to the town of ‘Arraba east of the illegal settlement Dotan.
(ii) Since the evening of November 25th 2012, Israeli forces closed the western entrance of Ya’bad.

Flying Checkpoints

At 11:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint along Jaba’ junction then searched residents and vehicles until 12:20.

Raid

(i) At 02:30, Israeli forces raided Jenin, clashed with several residents after storming a home then summoned Ziyad Farid Jamal to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning then withdrew at 05:00.
(ii) At dawn on January 29th 2016, Israeli forces raided Qabatiya and detained a resident after storming and searching his home.

Detention

Israeli forces detained Ali Yusef Mohammad Nasser Kamil in Qabatiya village.

Closure of Wall Gates

Israeli forces continue too close the wall gate and only allow those holding special permits to enter through it.

TULKAREM

Closure of Checkpoints

At 08:30 and again at 20:45, Israeli forces continue to intensify their restrictions at “Eniv” checkpoint located along the main road connecting Tulkarem and Nablus and impeded the free flow of traffic until 22:00.

QALQILIYA

Closure of Roads

(i) Israeli forces continue to close with cement blocks agricultural roads east of Azzun town.
(ii) In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
(iii) Since 16:55 on December 18th 2014, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with dirt mounds
(iv) Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 15:45 and again at 19:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Jinsafout village, then searched residents and vehicles and temporarily seized a Palestinian Police Force vehicle then allowed them to pass through after searching the vehicles.
(ii) At 18:45, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near “Karni Shamron” settlement located along the main road connecting Qalqiliya and Nablus then impeded the free flow of traffic.
(iii) At 19:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Izbit Al-Tabib village then searched residents and vehicles until 20:30.
(iv) At 19:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the east entrance of Qalqiliya then searched residents and vehicles until 20:35.

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to restrict access at ‘Azzun ‘Atma Wall gate and impeded the free flow of traffic. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the entrance to the village of Wadi Al- Rasha and to deny civilian access.
(ii) The Israeli army allows residents to access the village through Gate #109. Having removed the gate at the entrance to the village of Ras Atiya; the Israeli army only allows students to cross to their schools outside the village through the Habla gate.

NABLUS

Closure

Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the roads of Til-Burin and Beit Furik-Salem; the settler bypass road connecting the village of Deir al Hatab to the settlement of Alon Moreh; the road connecting the town of ‘Aqraba to the village of Osrin; and the detour road between the town of Qabalan and the village of Osrin.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the northern entrance to Qabalan town; the southern entrances to the town of Jamma’in and the villages of Duma and Qaryut.
(iii) At 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds.
(iv) On November 29th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Burin, Awarta and Osirin as well as the agricultural bypass road connecting Aqraba and Qabalan village with dirt mounds.
(v) At 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area.
(vi) At 18:30 on January 19th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Huwara and Walada village with dirt mounds.

Closure of Checkpoints

At 18:00, Israeli forces closed Huwara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic until reopening it at a later time.

Flying Checkpoints

At 15:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area between Beit Furiq and Beit Dajjan village then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

(i) At 11:25, Israeli forces raided Aqraba village until 13:00.
(ii) At 14:45, Israeli forces raided Beit Furiq until 16:25.
(iii) At 15:50, Israeli forces raided Beit Dajjan village until 16:25.

Detention

At 01:15, Israeli forces positioned at a checkpoint detained Layth Mohammad Faris Abu Sayf (A resident of Burqa village) as he was returning to Ramallah.

House Demolition

On January 28th 2016, Israeli forces stormed Khirbeit Ein Rashash area located near Duma village and served military orders for the demolition of 4 livestock sheds and residential tents owned by 30 Bedouin families and gave them until February 1st 2016 to leave the area claiming it’s a closed military zone.

SALFIT

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the entrance to two detour roads connecting Marda village to its farmland.
(ii) On 15.04.2012, the Israeli army has opened the northern entrance to Salfit city to civilian which was closed since the year 2000 and prevented access from 08:00 until 09:20.
(iii) Since 11:00 on July 30th 2012, Israeli forces have closed two roads leading to Abu Nasar and Qatan Al-Jama’ located in western area of Deir Istiya with cement blocks.

Closure of Checkpoints

Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Za’tara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic.

Raid

At 04:30, Israeli forces raided Deir Istiya, stormed a home, detained 3 residents then withdrew at 05:00.

Detention

Israeli forces detained 3 residents: Mohammad Ahmad Abed Al-Qaysi, Muntassir Ahmad Abed Al-Qaysi and Yusef Ahmad Abed Al-Qaysi in Deir Istiya.

JERICHO

Closure of Checkpoints

Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District.

Detention

(i) At 14:00 on January 27th 2016, Israeli forces positioned at Allenby bridge detained Mohammad Najib Nazal (A resident of Qabatiya village in Jenin) as he was returning from travellers in Jordan.
(ii) At 19:55, Israeli forces positioned at Allenby bridge detained Jihad Yusef Hini (A resident of Beit Furiq in Nablus) as he was returning from Jordan.

BETHLEHEM

Closure

(ii) The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
(iii) Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities.

Closure of main Roads

(v) The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds.
(vi) The Israeli army continues to close the road leading to “Newe Daniyyel” settlement and agricultural land in Al-Khader; a road between Um Tuba and Wadi Al-Hums: Wadi Fukin, Al-Jaba, the Green Line; a road between Za’tara and a detour road, and a road between Taqou and Khirbet Al-Deir with cement blocks.
(vii) Since August 2nd 2012, Israeli forces closed a road leading to Beit Jalla.
(viii) Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires.
(ix) Since June 3rd 2013, the Israeli army closed the road connecting Nihalin and road 60 with dirt mounds.
(x) Since 13:20 on September 29th 2013, the Israeli army closed a road leading to 50 acres of agricultural land in Wadi Salem area in Al-Khadr with dirt mounds.
(xi) Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Surif and Al-Jub’a village with dirt mounds.
(xii) On January 28th 2014, Israeli forces closed the steel gate at the entrance of Nihalin { replacing the dirt mounds placed at the entrance since the year 2002} and placed time schedule for opening the gate from 06:00 until 14:00 on a daily bases.
(xiii) Since 10:45 on September 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the agricultural road located in Arab Al-Rashaydeh village located near “Malee Amous” settlement with dirt mounds.
(xiv) At 14:50 on November 28th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Um Al-Raqaba area located in Al-Khader with cement blocks.
(xv) At 13:45 on January 17th 2016, Israeli forces closed the south entrance of Nihalin village with a steel gate.
(xvi) At 20:00 on January 18th 2016, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Jinata with earth mounds.

Raid

(i) At 15:00, Israeli forces raided Dar Salah village.
(ii) At 16:20, Israeli forces raided Al-Khadr.
(iii) At 03:10, Israeli forces raided Al-Obidiya.
(iv) At 03:10, Israeli forces raided Al-Duhisheh camp in Bethlehem, clashed with several residents as they stormed several homes and detained 3 residents including a child then withdrew at 05:30.

Attack

At 15:10, Israeli forces positioned near Al-Ayda camp in North Bethlehem fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

HEBRON

Closure

(i) The Israeli army continues to close Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighbourhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed.
(ii) Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Al-Karmil villages.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City.
(iii) The Israeli army continues to close all roads leading to Road # 60 as well as detour roads along the settler bypass road leading to Yatta town.
(iv) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds a detour road leading to e to Al-Simiya village, the southern entrance of Al-Samou’ and the entrance of Beit Annun with cement blocks.
(v) At 05:50 on November 5th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance leading Farsh Al-Hawa area in Hebron with Cement blocks.
(vi) At 10:30 on November 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the junction located near “Hagi” settlement located in south Hebron with cement blocks.
(vii) At 21:00 on November 11th 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Beit Awwa and Al-Majd village with cement block and dirt mounds.
(viii) At 15:45 on November 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed Al-Samiya village junction located at the west entrance of Al-Samou’ with cement blocks.
(ix) On November 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrances of Khliat Al-Miya and Al Dirat and the 2 bypass roads leading east Ytta with cement blocks.
(x) On November 23rd 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Al-Qom village located in North Beit Awwa with Cement blocks.
(xi) On December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed a checkpoint located along Al-Shuhada road located in the old city of Hebron and prevented residents from passing through the checkpoint and redirected traffic through a road near the entrance of Jabal Al-Rahma.
(xii) On December 9th 2015, Israeli forces closed a road near Jabal Jallis area located in the old city of Hebron and closed the bypass road.

Raid

(i) At 13:00, Israeli forces raided Beit Awwa and detained 2 residents.
(ii) At 14:00, Israeli forces raided Deir Sammit village until 15:35.

Attack

At 09:30, Israeli forces positioned in Tal’at Abu Hadid area located in the old city of Hebron fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

Detention

(i) At 01:50 on January 28th 2016, Israeli forces detained Tariq Anwar Id’ies during their raid into Hebron as mentioned in the previous report.
(ii) Israeli forces detained Rasmi Malouh Masalmeh and Mohammad Nader Abdallah Masalmeh in Beit Awwa.

GAZA STRIP

ALL DISTRICTS

• At 19:00 on August 26th 2014, Palestinian Gunmen and the Israeli military agreed to a cease fire agreement (brokered by the Arab Republic of Egypt) which includes the opening of border crossings to allow the entry of emergency supplies and humanitarian goods as well as construction material and agreed to increase the fishing limit to 6 nautical miles with possibility of increase to 12 nautical miles by the end of the year and to decrease the Military area to 100 meters, allow freedom of movement and a halt to targeted killings and assassinations and negotiations will be held for discussion on rebuilding the sea port and airports in the coming month.
• Israeli forces broke the ceasefire agreement by opening fire from their positions behind the Green Line towards Gaza and Khan Yunis.
• Israeli Naval vessels broke the ceasefire agreement by opening fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of North Gaza.

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

Beit Hanun (Erez) is open for the passage of critical patients, journalists, NGO staff, businessmen and passengers travelling abroad through Al-Karama crossing with previous coordination.

Attack

At 07:30 on January 28th 2016, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Al-Sudaniya area located in west Beit Lahiya.

GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

(i) Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
(ii) Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.

KHAN YUNIS

RAFAH

Closure of Crossing Points

(i) Yasser ‘Arafat International Airport remains closed.
(ii) Rafah (Al ‘Awdah) Crossing is closed
(iii) Sufa Crossing is closed
(iv) Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing open for the entry of tourist and foreign diplomats and the entry of Humanitarian assistance and construction material funded by UNRWA.
