WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure

• On January 20th 2016, the Israeli army, intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers under the age of 50 from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
• The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
• The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.

Closure of main Roads

• The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
• The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint.
• On November 16th 2015, Israeli forces closed the south entrance of Jabal Al-Mukabir neighbourhood in Jerusalem, which leads to “Armon Hantsiv” settlement with cement blocks.

Closure of Checkpoints

• Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
• On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu’fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall.

Closure of Checkpoints

At 18:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Eisawiya then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

(i) At 07:10 on January 20th 2016, Israeli forces raided Qalandiya camp, stormed several homes, detained three residents and summoned Mahmoud Matar (A National Security Force Officer) to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.
(ii) At 08:15, Israeli forces raided Kafr Aqab, clashed with several residents as they stormed and searched the home of Ahmad Iqnibi (A resident killed by Israeli Forces) then withdrew at 10:40.
(iii) At 20:00, Israeli forces raided Al-Za’im village, stormed a home and summoned Fayiz Gharab to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.
(iv) At 02:45, Israeli forces raided Kafr Aqab and Qalandiya camp until 05:10.

Detention

(i) At dawn on January 20th 2016, Israeli forces detained Mohamamd Abdel-Kareem Mustafa (A resident of Al-Bireh city) in Al-Ram.
(ii) At January 20th 2016, Israeli forces detained Abed Wajeeh Bazlamit (A resident of Al-Thuri neighbourhood) in Sur Bahar village for allegedly finding a knife in his possession.
(iii) Israeli forces detained three residents: Mohammad Zuhier Khadr, Ibrahim Abu Al-Eish and Mahmoud Assad Al-Shu’aninin Qalandiya camp.

House Demolition

(i) At 12:30, Israeli forces stormed Beit Hanina and demolished a home owned by Hibas Abu Assab for allegedly being built without a licence.
(ii) At 04:00, Israeli forces stormed a Beidouin community in Jabal Baba area located in east Al-Eizariya and demolished 3 homes owned by
Hamad Mohammad Odeh Abu Qutaybah, Ali Abu Qutaybeh and Ghassan Jahalin.

Obstruction of Places of Worship

At 09:00, a group of Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli Military and Police forces stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem and provoked worshipers.

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Slewahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem IDs to cross, after subjecting them to thorough searches using electronic devices.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads

• The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages
• On December 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed the West entrance of Al-Labban Al-Gharbi village with cement blocks.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 08:55, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Sinjil then searched residents and vehicles until 09:25.
(ii) At 15:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Atarah Bridge then searched residents and vehicles.
(iii) At 09:10, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Al-Taybeh junction located along the main road connecting Ramallah and Jericho. The searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

(i) At 19:10, Israeli forces raided Ein Qinya village and clashed with several residents.
(ii) At 10:50, Israeli forces raided Al-Tarbiya neighbourhood near Al-Jalazoun camp and detained a resident after storming his home.
(iii) At 02:45, Israeli forces raided Al-Jalazoun camp and detained 3 residents.
(iv) At 04:30, Israeli forces raided Al-Bireh city.

Temporary Detention

At 19:40, Israeli forces positioned near Eiyoun Al-Haramiya area located along the main road connecting Ramallah and Nablus
temporarily detained Ziyad Shihadeh Saleem Dar Khalil (A resident of Al-Jalazoun camp) then released him at 22:00.

Temporary Detention

At 19:25, Israeli forces positioned near “Dolev” settlement located in west Ein Qinya village fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

Detention

(i) Israeli forces detained Mohammad Subhi Al-Qadi near Al-Jalazoun camp.
(ii) Israeli forces detained 3 residents; Musbah Marwan Al-Kans, Yazen Mahmoud Nakhlaha and Ziyad Abdel-Ghani Qatash.

JENIN

Closure (per District)

On December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area and declared the area a closed military zone.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the road leading to the town of ‘Arraba east of the illegal settlement Dotan.
(ii) Since the evening of November 25th 2012, Israeli forces closed the western entrance of Ya’bad.

Raid

At 02:35, Israeli forces raided Jenin, clashed with several residents as they stormed 2 homes, detained a resident then withdrew at 03:15.

Detention

Israeli forces detained Mohammad Ahmad Rahal in Jenin.

Closure of Wall Gates

Israeli forces continue too close the wall gate and only allow those holding special permits to enter through it.

TUBAS

Raid

At 01;00, Israeli forces raided Tubas, clashed with several residents as they stormed several homes and as a result injured 2 residents: Muhanad Ahmad Abu Siyaj and Ahmad Hassan Abu Jamil and detained a resident then withdrew at 05:30.

Detention

Israeli forces detained Ali Ahmad Daraghmeh in Tubas.

TULKAREM

Closure of Checkpoints

: At 17:20 and again at 20:35, Israeli forces continue to intensify their restrictions at “Eniv” checkpoint located along the main road connecting Tulkarem and Nablus and impeded the free flow of traffic.

Flying Checkpoints

: At 09:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Ramin village then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

(i) At 10:40, Israeli forces raided Beit Lid until 12:00.
(ii) At 05:50, Israeli forces raided Tulkarem, detained 3 residents then withdrew at 07:45.

Detention

Israeli forces detained 3 residents: Ammar Jamal Ansab, Alaa Khalil Barqawi and Samer Salah Abdel-Haq in Tulkarem.

QALQILIYA

Closure of Roads

(i) Israeli forces continue to close with cement blocks agricultural roads east of Azzun town.
(ii) In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
(iii) Since 16:55 on December 18th 2014, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with dirt mounds
(iv) Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 16:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area between Halbat and Qalqiliya then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 16:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the east entrance of Qalqiliya then searched residents and vehicles.
(iii) At 18:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area between Jayyous and Azzun then searched residents and vehicles.
(iv) At 18:45, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the south entrance of Sinariya then searched residents and vehicles.

Closure of Wall Gates

• The Israeli army continues to restrict access at ‘Azzun ‘Atma Wall gate and impeded the free flow of traffic. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the entrance to the village of Wadi Al- Rasha and to deny civilian access.
• The Israeli army allows residents to access the village through Gate #109. Having removed the gate at the entrance to the village of Ras Atiya; the Israeli army only allows students to cross to their schools outside the village through the Habla gate.

NABLUS

Closure

Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the southern entrances Qaryut.
(ii) At 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds.
(iii) At 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area.
(iv) At 18:30 on January 19th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Huwara and Odala village with dirt mounds.

Closure of Checkpoints

At 19:40, Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Beit Furiq checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic.

Flying Checkpoints

At 10:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Deir Sharaf village junction located along the main road connecting Nablus and Tulkarem then searched residents and vehicles until 14:10.

Raid

(i) At 10:20 on January 19th 2016, Israeli forces raided Beita and detained 2 residents.
(ii) At 02:05, Israeli forces raided Tel village, clashed with several residents as they stormed several homes and as a result injured two residents: Jihad Ibrahim Ishtayeh and Hamad Ibrahim Awad Ramadan detained a resident then withdrew at 04:40.
(iii) At 03:10, Israeli forces raided Balata camp in Nablus, clashed with several residents as they stormed and searched several homes and as a result injured Issa Nathmi Hashash, detained a resident then withdrew at 05:15
(iv) At 03:10, Israeli forces raided Qabalan.

Detention

(i) Israeli forces detained Alaa Salem Bani Shamasnah and Ehab Jihad Shaltaf in Beita.
(ii) Israeli forces detained Assad Taysir Assad Yamin in Tel village.
(iii) Israeli forces detained Amjad Al-Hashash in Balata.

Attack

At 15:20, Israeli forces positioned at the entrance of Beit Furiq fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

Settlers Violence

At 04:00, a group of Israeli settlers stormed Al-Labban Al-Shariqiya village and stoned the home of Kahaled Samih Daraghmeh then withdrew under the protection of Israeli forces.

JERICHO

Closure of Checkpoints

Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District.

Flying Checkpoints

At 10:10, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint along road (90) near Al-Nuw’meh village located at the North entrance of Jericho then searched residents and vehicles, detained a resident then withdrew at 11:15.

Detention

At 20:00, Israeli forces positioned at Allenby Bridge detained Ahmad Fahim Abdel-Kareem Al-Shiekh (A resident of Deir Istiya in Salfit) as he was returning from Jordan.

House Demolition

On the morning of January 20th 2016, Israeli forces stormed the North east area of Jericho city and demolished three residential dens owned by Jamal Mohammad Al-Jahalin.

BETHLEHEM

Closure

(i) The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
(ii) Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the road leading to “Newe Daniyyel” settlement and agricultural land in Al-Khader; a road between Um Tuba and Wadi Al-Hums: Wadi Fukin, Al-Jaba, the Green Line; a road between Za’tara and a detour road, and a road between Taqou and Khirbet Al-Deir with cement blocks.
(iii) Since August 2nd 2012, Israeli forces closed a road leading to Beit Jalla.
(iv) Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires.
(v) Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Surif and Al-Jub’a village with dirt mounds.
(vi) Since 10:45 on September 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the agricultural road located in Arab Al-Rashaydeh village located near “Malee Amous” settlement with dirt mounds.
(vii) At 13:45 on January 17th 2016, Israeli forces closed the south entrance of Nihalin village with a steel gate.
(viii) At 20:00 on January 18th 2016, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Jinata with dirt mounds.

Raid

(i) At 01:00, Israeli forces raided Beit Fajjar, detained 2 residents then withdrew at 02:10
(ii) At 06:50, Israeli forces raided Al-Duhisheh camp in Bethlehem clashed with several residents as they stormed two homes and injured two residents: ALI Ahmad Salah Dar Zideh and detained two residents.
(iii) At dawn dawn on January 21st 2016, Israeli forces raided Al-Arouj village and stormed the home of Ismail Abdallah Al-Arouj (A Palestinian Detainee) and detained 3 residents including a woman.

Detention

(i) At 03:00 on January 20th 2016, Israeli forces detained three residents: Hammam Mohammad Abdel-Nabi, Maher Yacoub Tawfiq Hananiya and Tawfiq Yacoub Tawfiq Hananiya during their raid into Bethlehem as mentioned in the previous report.
(ii) Israeli forces detained Khaled Waleed Mohammad Thawabteh (17 years old) and Suhayeb Hamza Thawabteh in Beit Fajjar.
(iii) Israeli forces detained Mufti Ma’rouf Al-Masri and Anas Izat Abu Daya in Al-Duisheh camp in Bethlehem.
(iv) Israeli forces detained three residents Rabay’a Mustafa Al-Arouj, Jafar Abdallah Al-Arouj and Mohammad Abdallah Al-Arouj in Al-Arouj village.

HEBRON

Closure

(i) The Israeli army continues to close Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighbourhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed.
(ii) Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the entrances of Al-Tuwani and Al-Karmil village.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City.
(iii) The Israeli army continues to close all roads leading to Road # 60 as well as detour roads along the settler bypass road leading to Yatta town.
(iv) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds a detour road leading to e to Al-Simiya village, the southern entrance of Al-Samou’ and the entrance of Beit Annun with cement blocks.
(v) At 05:50 on November 5th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance leading Farsh Al-Hawa area in Hebron with Cement blocks.
(vi) At 10:30 on November 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the junction located near “Hagi” settlement located in south Hebron with cement blocks.
(vii) At 21:00 on November 11th 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Beit Awwa and Al-Majd village with cement block and dirt mounds.
(viii) At 15:45 on November 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed Al-Samiya village junction located at the west entrance of Al-Samou’ with cement blocks.
(ix) On November 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrances of Khliat Al-Miya and Al Dirat and the two bypass roads leading east Yatta with cement blocks.
(x) On November 23rd 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Al-Qom village located in North Beit Awwa with Cement blocks.
(xi) On December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed a checkpoint located along Al-Shuhada road located in the old city of Hebron and prevented residents from passing through the checkpoint and redirected traffic through a road near the entrance of Jabal Al-Rahma.
(xii) On December 9th 2015, Israeli forces closed a road near Jabal Jallis area located in the old city of Hebron and closed the bypass road.
(xiii) At 12:50, Israeli forces closed the entrances of Beit Amrah and Karmah village with dirt mounds.

Flying Checkpoints

At 20:35, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Kawaziba village then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

(i) At 8:20, Israeli forces raided Beit Al-Rosh Al-Tahta and stormed Salem Mohammad Abu Ayashes home.
(ii) At 15:20, Israeli forces raided Al-Thahriya and detained a resident.
(iii) At 00:20, Israeli forces raided Yatta, stormed a home and detained a resident.
(iv) At dawn on January 21st 2016, Israeli forces raided Dyra and detained a resident.
(v) At dawn on January 21st 2016, Israeli forces raided Al-Shiyoukh and detained a resident.
(vi) At dawn on January 21st 2016, Israeli forces raided Surif and detained a resident.

Attack

On the evening of January 20th 2016, Israeli forces positioned near Al-Aroub camp fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

Detention

(i) At 19:30, Israeli forces detained Jafar Mahmoud Musa Hamdan Jabarin (19 years old) for allegedly finding a knife in his possession at Beit Anoun village junction.
(ii) At dawn on January 21st 2016, Israeli forces detained Akram Faysal Bidawi in the old city of Hebron.
(iii) Israeli forces detained Mohammad Ayash Awaysa in Al-Thahriya.
(iv) Israeli forces detained Issa Makhamrah in Yatta.
(v) Israeli forces detained Ameer Darwish in Dura.
(vi) Israeli forces detained Mohammad Yusef Warasna in Al-Shiyoukh.
(vii) Israeli forces detained Mohammad Ali Al-Qadi in Surif.

House Demolition

On January 20th 2016, Israeli forces stormed Sussiya village located in east Yatta and demolished a residential tents owned by Nassar Shartih.

GAZA STRIP

ALL DISTRICTS

• At 19:00 on August 26th 2014, Palestinian Gunmen and the Israeli military agreed to a cease fire agreement (brokered by the Arab Republic of Egypt) which includes the opening of border crossings to allow the entry of emergency supplies and humanitarian goods as well as construction material and agreed to increase the fishing limit to 6 nautical miles with possibility of increase to 12 nautical miles by the end of the year and to decrease the Military area to 100 meters, allow freedom of movement and a halt to targeted killings and assassinations and negotiations will be held for discussion on rebuilding the sea port and airports in the coming month.
• Israeli forces broke the ceasefire agreement by raiding Khan Yunis.
• Israeli forces broke the ceasefire agreement by opening fire from their positions behind the Green Line towards Gaza and as a result injured a resident.

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

Beit Hanun (Erez) is open for the passage of critical patients, journalists, NGO staff, businessmen and passengers travelling abroad through Al-Karama crossing with previous coordination.

GAZA

Closure of main Roads

• Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
• Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.

Attack

(i) On the evening of January 20th 2016, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Gaza city and as a result injured a resident.
(ii) On the morning of January 21st 2016, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards several farmers on agricultural land in Al-Shuja’iya neighbourhood located in east Gaza city.

KHAN YUNIS

Raid

On the morning of January 20th 2016, Israeli forces escorting military bulldozers stormed 150 m into the vicinity of east Al-Qarara and levelled plot of land.

RAFAH

Closure of Crossing Points

• Yasser ‘Arafat International Airport remains closed.
• Rafah (Al ‘Awdah) Crossing is closed
• Sufa Crossing is closed
• Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing open for the entry of tourist and foreign diplomats and the entry of Humanitarian assistance and construction material funded by UNRWA
