WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure

(i) On January 4th 2016, the Israeli army, intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers under the age of 50 from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
(iii) The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint.
(iii) On November 16th 2015, Israeli forces closed the south entrance of Jabal Al-Mukabir neighbourhood in Jerusalem, which leads to “Armon Hantsiv” settlement with cement blocks.

Closure of Checkpoints

(i) Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
(ii) On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu’fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 09:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the North entrance of Hizma then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 19:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Biddu then searched residents and vehicles until 20:25.

Raid

1. At 15:00, Israeli forces raided Al-Eisawiya village, clashed with several residents as they stormed and searched several homes and detained 2 residents

Attack

At 15:30, Israeli forces positioned near Qatanna village fired live ammunition; rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning during their participation in the Funeral of Ahmad Jamal Taha and as a result injured 11 residents including Jarrah Hassan Mahmoud Tanjat.

Detention

(i) At 11:00, Israeli forces detained Nidal Mohammad Abu Irmeleh (A resident of Abu Dis).
(ii) At 21:00, Israeli forces detained 3 residents including 2 children: Mohammad Shu’ayeb Al-Soweiki (17 years old), Yusef Hani Al-Showiki (15 years old) and Mohammad Othman Al-Showiki near Al-Sahara gate in the old city of Jerusalem for allegedly finding a knife in their possession.
(iii) At 21:40, Israeli forces detained the child Akram Tawfiq Abu Sarhan (17 years old){A resident of Al-Obidiya town in Bethlehem District}.
(iv) On January 4th 2016, Israeli forces detained Alaa Nabeel Salah (A resident of Al-Eisawiya).
(v) Israeli forces detained 2 residents: Ribhi Khader Abu Al-Hummus and Daoud Attiyah in Al-Eisawiya village.

Temporary Detention

At 09:30, Israeli forces temporarily detained the child Hamza Al-Rajabi (12 years old) {a resident of Al-Sa’ayedeh neighbourhood in the old city of Jerusalem} then released him later.

Injuries

At 23:30, Ameen Adali Al-Agha {A resident of Aqbat Al-Saraya area in the old city of Jerusalem} was injured after he was rammed by an Israeli Military vehicle leaving him hospitalised.

House Demolition

At 08:00, Israeli forces stormed Jabal Mukabir neighbourhood in Jerusalem and demolished the outer and internal walls of the homes of Baha Aliyan and Alaa Abu Jamal {who were killed by Israeli Forces} then sealed off the homes with 180 m3 of concrete and sealed off the entrances with Iron.

Obstruction of Places of Worship

At 08:30, a group of Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli Military and Police forces stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem and provoked worshipers.

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Slewahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem IDs to cross, after subjecting them to thorough searches using electronic devices.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages
(ii) . On October 3rd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road located near “Bet El” settlement and leading to Al-Jalazoun camp with cement blocks.
(iii) Since November 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed the main entrance of Sinjil and the east entrance of Al-Mughier village with cement blocks.
(iv) At 18:50 on December 4th 2015, Israeli forces closed the main entrance of Abboud with cement blocks.
(v) On December 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed the West entrance of Al-Labban Al-Gharbi village with cement blocks.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 08:10, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Sinjil then searched residents and vehicles until 13:00.
(ii) At 08:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Ein Sinya village roundabout then searched residents and vehicles until 13:30.
(iii) At 13:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Nabi Saleh village then searched residents and vehicles until 14:30.
(iv) At 14:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint along Yabroud village bridge then searched residents and vehicles until 16:10
(v) At 17:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Atarah Bridge located in North Bir Ziet then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

At 01:25, Israeli forces raided El-Bireh city.

Attack

(i) At 10:10, Israeli forces positioned near Beituniya fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
(ii) At 10:30, Israeli forces positioned near the wall gate in Buddrous village fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

Temporary Detention

: At 16:50, Israeli forces positioned at the entrance of Silwad temporarily detained Khader Adnan (A resident of Arraba village in Jenin) then released him at 20:25.

Settlers Violence

At 14:50, an Israeli settler vehicle travelling near “Ni’lin” military checkpoint ran over Ahmad Musa Thiyab (A resident of Ni’lin) during which several residents and youth stoned the settler vehicle causing the settler to flee the area during which Israeli forces stormed Ni’lin town.

JENIN

Closure (per District)

On December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area and declared the area a closed military zone

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the road leading to the town of ‘Arraba east of the illegal settlement Dotan.
(ii) Since the evening of November 25th 2012, Israeli forces closed the western entrance of Ya’bad.

Raid

At 15:15, Israeli forces raided Bruqqin

Detention

(i) At 11:00, Israeli forces positioned at a military checkpoint near Turat village detained the child: Yazen Khaled Hassan Qubha (17 years old) {A resident of Turat village}.
(ii) At 18:20, Israeli forces positioned at a flying checkpoint located along the main road connecting Jenin and Nablus detained Nidal Ribhi Hassan Shalabi (A resident of Jenin camp).

Closure of Wall Gates

Israeli forces continue too close the wall gate and only allow those holding special permits to enter through it.

TUBAS

Detention

At 04:30 on January 4th 2016, Israeli forces detained Mohammad Samih Bidasat during their raid into Al-Far’a camp in addition to those mentioned in the previous report.

TULKAREM

Closure of Checkpoints

At 10:05, Israeli forces continue to intensify their restrictions at “Eniv” checkpoint located along the main road connecting Tulkarem and Nablus and impeded the free flow of traffic until 10:25.

Flying Checkpoints

At 09:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Shufa village then prevented residents and vehicles from passing through the checkpoint.

Raid

At 02:50, Israeli forces raided Shwukiya neighbourhood in Tulkarem, stormed a home and detained a resident.

Attack

At 11:30, Israeli forces positioned near wall gate (664) located in Shwukiya neighbourhood fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

Detention

Israeli forces detained Raed Raslan Dahilat in Shwukiya neighbourhood in Tulkarem.

QALQILIYA

Closure of Roads

(i) Israeli forces continue to close with cement blocks agricultural roads east of Azzun town.
(ii) In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
(iii) Since 16:55 on December 18th 2014, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with dirt mounds
(iv) Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 08:00 and again at 14:55, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Izbit Al-Tabib village then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 14:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Ras Attiya village then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

(i) At 13:30, Israeli forces raided Hablat town.
(ii) At 17:50, Israeli forces raided Jayyous, clashed with several residents and as a result set fire to home furniture owned by Abdel-Kareem Abdel-Latif Shamasnah after a tear gas grenade exploded after being fired towards the home and as a result left 4 residents suffocated from tear gas inhalation then withdrew at 18:30.
(iii) At 00:30, Israeli forces raided Azzun Attma village.
(iv) At 01:10, Israeli forces raided Azzun, stormed and searched a home then withdrew at 04:30.

Attack

At 15:45, Israeli forces positioned near the wall gate in Jayyus fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

Settlers Violence

At 21:55, a group of Israeli settlers stormed the east entrance of Kafr Qaddum village then withdrew at 22:50.

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to restrict access at ‘Azzun ‘Atma Wall gate and impeded the free flow of traffic. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the entrance to the village of Wadi Al- Rasha and to deny civilian access.
(ii) The Israeli army allows residents to access the village through Gate #109. Having removed the gate at the entrance to the village of Ras Atiya; the Israeli army only allows students to cross to their schools outside the village through the Habla gate.

NABLUS

Closure

Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the roads of Til-Burin and Beit Furik-Salem; the settler bypass road connecting the village of Deir al Hatab to the settlement of Alon Moreh; the road connecting the town of ‘Aqraba to the village of Osrin; and the detour road between the town of Qabalan and the village of Osrin.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the northern entrance to Qabalan town; the southern entrances to the town of Jamma’in and the villages of Duma and Qaryut.
(iii) At 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds.
(iv) On November 29th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Burin, Awarta and Osirin as well as the agricultural bypass road connecting Aqraba and Qabalan village with dirt mounds.
(v) At 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area.

Closure of Checkpoints

(i) At 11:45 and again at 19:10, Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Huwara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic until 20:50.
(ii) At 17:15, Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Beit Furiq checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 08:35, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint along the main road connecting Nablus and Qalqiliya then searched residents and vehicles until 10:00.
(ii) At 10:45, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint between Iraq Burin, Burin and Tel villages then searched residents and vehicles until 11:45.

Raid

At 03:10, Israeli forces raided Nablus city, detained 2 residents then stormed and searched “Thafir Al-Masri” Girls secondary school and withdrew at 05:30.

Detention

(i) At 15:30, Israeli forces positioned at Huwara checkpoint detained two residents including a child: Rabi’ Ehab Al-Dihan (17 years old) {A resident of Qabatiya village in Jenin} and Wathiq Mohammad Zhier Sharqiya {A resident on Al-Yamoun village in Jenin}.
(ii) Israeli forces detained two residents: Khaled Nidal Al-Shafi’I and Abdallah Al-Akir in Nablus.

Physical Assault

At 18:00, Israeli forces positioned in Sama Al-Tin area located in Beit Furiq assaulted Munthir Mustafa Ishtayeh leaving him hospitalised with contusions.

Provocation of Palestinian Forces

At 20:20, Israeli forces positioned at the entrance of Al-Labban Al-Sharqiya village temporarily seized a Palestinian Police vehicle then allowed it to pass through at a later time.

SALFIT

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the entrance to two detour roads connecting Marda village to its farmland.
(ii) On 15.04.2012, the Israeli army has opened the northern entrance to Salfit city to civilian which was closed since the year 2000 and prevented access from 08:00 until 09:20.
(iii) Since 11:00 on July 30th 2012, Israeli forces have closed two roads leading to Abu Nasar and Qatan Al-Jama’ located in western area of Deir Istiya with cement blocks.

Closure of Checkpoints

Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Za’tara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic.

Flying Checkpoints

At 19:25, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the west entrance of Deir Istiya then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

At 13:10 and again t 03:35, Israeli forces raided Kafr Al-Dik, temporarily detained the child: Mazen Ammar Ahmad (14 years old) then released him at a later time until 04:30.

JERICHO

Closure of Checkpoints

Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District.

Flying Checkpoints

At 11:10 and again at 18:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at road (90) junction near New’meh village located at the North entrance of Jericho then searched residents and vehicles until 19:05.

Raid

At 02:10, Israeli forces raided Fasayil village, stormed and searched several homes, detained 2 residents then withdrew at 04:10.

Detention

Israeli forces detained Riyad Kamal Ishtoyan Shalafah and Haytham Kamal Ishtoyan Shalafah in Fasayil village.

BETHLEHEM

Closure

(i) The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
(ii) Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the road leading to “Newe Daniyyel” settlement and agricultural land in Al-Khader; a road between Um Tuba and Wadi Al-Hums: Wadi Fukin, Al-Jaba, the Green Line; a road between Za’tara and a detour road, and a road between Taqou and Khirbet Al-Deir with cement blocks.
(iii) Since August 2nd 2012, Israeli forces closed a road leading to Beit Jalla.
(iv) Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires.
(v) Since June 3rd 2013, the Israeli army closed the road connecting Nihalin and road 60 with dirt mounds.
(vi) Since 13:20 on September 29th 2013, the Israeli army closed a road leading to 50 acres of agricultural land in Wadi Salem area in Al-Khadr with dirt mounds.
(vii) Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Surif and Al-Jub’a village with dirt mounds.
(viii) On January 28th 2014, Israeli forces closed the steel gate at the entrance of Nihalin { replacing the dirt mounds placed at the entrance since the year 2002} and placed time schedule for opening the gate from 06:00 until 14:00 on a daily bases.
(ix) Since 10:45 on September 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the agricultural road located in Arab Al-Rashaydeh village located near “Malee Amous” settlement with dirt mounds.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 08:45, Israeli force set up a checkpoint at Za’tara Bridge then searched residents and vehicles until 10:00.
(ii) At 17:35, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint along the main road in Dar Salah village then searched residents and vehicles until 19:05.

Raid

At 16:40, Israeli forces raided Al-Khader, detained a child then withdrew at 17:00.

Attack

At 09:45, Israeli forces positioned near Al-Ayda camp in Bethlehem fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

Detention

Israeli forces detained Hussien Odat Issa (17 years old) in Al-Khader.

HEBRON

Closure

(i) The Israeli army continues to close Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighbourhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed.
(ii) Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Al-Tuwani and Al-Karmil villages.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City.
(iii) The Israeli army continues to close all roads leading to Road # 60 as well as detour roads along the settler bypass road leading to Yatta town.
(iv) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds a detour road leading to e to Al-Simiya village, the southern entrance of Al-Samou’ and the entrance of Beit Annun with cement blocks.
(v) At 05:50 on November 5th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance leading Farsh Al-Hawa area in Hebron with Cement blocks.
(vi) At 10:30 on November 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the junction located near “Hagi” settlement located in south Hebron with cement blocks.
(vii) At 21:00 on November 11th 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Beit Awwa and Al-Majd village with cement block and dirt mounds.
(viii) At 15:45 on November 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed Al-Samiya village junction located at the west entrance of Al-Samou’ with cement blocks.
(ix) On November 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrances of Khliat Al-Miya and Al Dirat and the two bypass roads leading east Yatta with cement blocks.
(x) On November 23rd 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Al-Qom village located in North Beit Awwa with Cement blocks.
(xi) On December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed a checkpoint located along Al-Shuhada road located in the old city of Hebron and prevented residents from passing through the checkpoint and redirected traffic through a road near the entrance of Jabal Al-Rahma .
(xii) On December 9th 2015, Israeli forces closed a road near Jabal Jallis area located in the old city of Hebron and closed the bypass road.

Flying Checkpoints

At 10:10, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Aroub camp and prevented residents and vehicles from entering or exiting through the checkpoint until reopening it later.

Raid

(i) At dawn on January 4th 2016, Israeli forces raided Al-Samou’ and detained a child.
(ii) At 08:25, Israeli forces raided Beit Ummar and summoned Rabi’ Jawad Hassan Awad to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.
(iii) At 02:50, Israeli forces raided Beit Awa and detained a resident.

Attack

At 20:45, Israeli forces positioned at the entrance of Al-Fuwar camp fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning

Detention

(i) At 11:05, Israeli forces positioned at Khursa village junction detained the child: Omar Suliman Jum’a Al-Awwawdeh for alleged stoning.
(ii) On January 4th 2016, Israeli forces detained 2 residents: Muhanad Barbarawi and Ali Mohammad Abu Ayash {Both residents of Beit Ummar).
(iii) At 20:40, Israeli forces positioned in Al-Musafar area located in east Yatta detained Osama Rafi Mughanam.
(iv) On January 4th 2016, Israeli forces detained Rabi’ Jawad Jamal Awad (A resident of Beit Ummar) as he was reporting to Israeli Intelligence for questioning based on a prior summon.
(v) Israeli forces detained Izhar Ameer Musalim Mahariq in Al-Samou’.
(vi) Israeli forces detained Issa Abdel-Azziz Hassan Sawiti in Beit Awwa.

Temporary Detention

At 14:50, Israeli forces positioned at a checkpoint near the entrance of Al-Shuhada road in the old city of Hebron temporarily detained Wafa Abdel-Haq Yusef Al-Qawasmi then released her at a later time.

Assault on Educational sector

At 07:50 on January 4th 2016, Israeli forces raided the old city of Hebron and stormed “Al-Fahiya” Secondary Girls School and inspected surveillance camera footage then withdrew at 08:10.

GAZA STRIP

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

Beit Hanun (Erez) is open for the passage of critical patients, journalists, NGO staff, businessmen and passengers travelling abroad through Al-Karama crossing with previous coordination.

GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

(i) Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
(ii) Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.

Attack

At 08:00, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards several residents on agricultural land in east Al-Shuja’iya neighbourhood located in east Gaza city.

RAFAH

Closure of Crossing Points

(i) Yasser ‘Arafat International Airport remains closed.
(ii) Rafah (Al ‘Awdah) Crossing is closed
(iii) Sufa Crossing is closed
(iv) Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing open for the entry of tourist and foreign diplomats and the entry of Humanitarian assistance and construction material funded by UNRWA
