Daily Report February 26th 2016

WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure
  1. On February 24th 2016, the Israeli army, intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers under the age of 50 from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
  2. The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
  3. The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.
Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
  2. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint. 
Closure of Checkpoints
  1. Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
  2. On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu’fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall.
Attack
  1. At 21:30, Israeli forces positioned in Abu Dis fired; rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
Obstruction of Places of Worship
Closure of Wall Gates
  1. The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
  2. The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Slewahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem IDs to cross, after subjecting them to thorough searches using electronic devices.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages and in Deir Ibzi’ village with dirt mounds.
  2. On December 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed the West entrance of Al-Labban Al-Gharbi village with cement blocks.
  3. At 09:20 on February 9th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Shuqba and Shbatin villages with cement blocks and also installed a steel gate in the area.
  4. At 24:00 on February 14th 2016, closed the main road near the entrance of “Bet El” settlement which leads to Al-Jalazoun camp with cement blocks for alleged gunfire towards Bet El settlement as alleged by the Israeli Military.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 15:35, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area between Deir Ghassana and Kafr Ad Dik towns then searched residents and vehicle.
  2. At 20:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Janiya village then searched residents and vehicles until 23:10.
Raid
  1. At dawn on February 25th 2016, Israeli forces raided Al-Bireh city and detained a resident.
  2. At 08:00, Israeli forces raided Dura Al-Qari’ village then stormed and searched a home.
Detention
  1. Israeli forces detained Salim Dardsawi in Al-Bireh city.
Destruction of Property
  1. At 00:10 on February 25th 2016, Israeli forces demolished 3 livestock dens and 3 storage rooms owned by Mohammad Ali Awad and a car wash lot owned by Munthir Radwan and a vehicle repair garage owned by Inrahim Mustafa Amereh during their raid into Ni’lin in addition to those mentioned in the previous report.

JENIN

Closure
  1. On December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area  {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area  and declared the area a closed military zone.
Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the road leading to the town of ‘Arraba east of the illegal settlement Dotan.
  2. Since the evening of November 25th 2012, Israeli forces closed the western entrance of Ya’bad.
Raid
  1. At 20:00, Israeli forces raided Qabatiya and served a military order for the demolition of a home owned by the family of Billal Ahmad Abu Zied (A Palestinian Detainee).
Closure of Wall Gates
  1. Israeli forces continue too close the wall gate and only allow those holding special permits to enter through it.

TULKAREM

Military Checkpoints
  1. At 08:20 and again at 13:05, Israeli forces continue to intensify their restrictions at “Eniv” checkpoint located along the main road connecting Tulkarem and Nablus and impeded the free flow of traffic until 14:20.
Raid
  1. At 17:55, Israeli forces raided Izbit Shufa village and stormed a home then withdrew at 19:35.
Detention
  1. At 01:20 on February 25th 2016, Israeli forces detained Mahdi Hassan Hamad Al-Haj during their raid into Bal’a in addition to those mentioned in the previous report.

QALQILIYA

Closure of Roads
  1. Israeli forces continue to close with cement blocks agricultural roads east of Azzun town.
  2. In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
  3. Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 16:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint along the main road connecting Qalqiliya and Nablus then searched residents and vehicles.
Raid
  1. At 20:50, Israeli forces raided Azzun until 22:00.
Closure of Wall Gates
  1. The Israeli army continues to restrict access at ‘Azzun ‘Atma Wall gate and impeded the free flow of traffic. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the entrance to the village of Wadi Al- Rasha and to deny civilian access.
  2. The Israeli army allows residents to access the village through Gate #109. Having removed the gate at the entrance to the village of Ras Atiya; the Israeli army only allows students to cross to their schools outside the village through the Habla gate.

NABLUS

Closure
  1. Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area.
Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close the northern entrance to Qabalan town; the southern entrances to the town of Jamma’in and the villages of Duma and Qaryut.
  2. At 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds.
  3. At 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area.
  4. At 18:30 on January 19th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Huwara and Walada village with dirt mounds.
Military Checkpoints
  1. At 17:30, Israeli forces closed Huwara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic until 18:00.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 12:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Beita village junction then searched residents and vehicles until 16:30.
Raid
  1. At 12:10, Israeli forces raided Beita, clashed with several residents then withdrew at 12:55.

SALFIT

Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the entrance to two detour roads connecting Marda village to its farmland.
  2. On 15.04.2012, the Israeli army has opened the northern entrance to Salfit city to civilian which was closed since the year 2000 and prevented access from 08:00 until 09:20.
  3. Since 11:00 on July 30th 2012, Israeli forces have closed two roads leading to Abu Nasar and Qatan Al-Jama’ located in western area of Deir Istiya with cement blocks.
Military Checkpoints
  1. At 17:30, Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Za’tara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic.
Raid
  1. At 14:25, Israeli forces raided Kafr Ad Dik, detained a child then withdrew at 16:20.
  2. At 02:00, Israeli forces raided Harris village, stormed and searched a home then withdrew at 04:00.
Detention
  1. At 02:30 on February 25th 2016, Israeli forces detained Eyad Musbah Salah Ayash during their raid into Rafat village in addition to those mentioned in the previous report.
  2. Israeli forces detained Mohammad Ramadan Naji (17 years old) in Kafr Ad Dik village.

JERICHO

Military Checkpoints
  1. Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 10:25, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the south entrance of Jericho then searched residents and vehicles until 11:20.

BETHLEHEM

Closure
  1. The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
  2. Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities.
Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala  ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to  Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds.
  2. Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires.
  3. Since 10:45 on September 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the agricultural road located in Arab Al-Rashaydeh village located near “Malee Amous” settlement with dirt mounds.
  4. At 14:50 on November 28th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Um Al-Raqaba area located in Al-Khader with cement blocks.
  5. At 09:15 on February 16th 2016, Israeli forces closed the bypass road connecting Za’tara and Ush Al-Ghurab area located in east Beit Sahur town with earth mounds.
  6. On February 25th 2016, Israeli forces closed the steel gate entrance leading to Um Al-Rakaba area located in Al-Khader.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 16:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint beneath Al-Khader Town Bridge (located along the main road leading to the villages in west Bethlehem) then searched residents and vehicles until 17:40.
Raid
  1. At 10:30, Israeli forces raided Al-Jub’a village.
  2. At 13:50, Israeli forces raided Al-Khadr until 14:20.
  3. At 03:50, Israeli forces raided Bethlehem and summoned Hamza Abdul-Raziq Mohammad Jaffar to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning then withdrew at 04:40.
Attack
  1. At 16:40, Israeli forces positioned near the West entrance of Taqou’ fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

HEBRON

Closure
  1. The Israeli army continues to close Al-Shuhada’ Street, Al-Sahleh and Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighbourhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed.
  2. Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.
Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City.
  2. The Israeli army continues to close the bypass road which connects Bani Na’im and Zif village junction with dirt mounds.
  3. The Israeli army continues to close the entrance to Beit Ummar located near the local cemetery with dirt mounds.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 11:10, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near the entrance of Bani Na’im and temporarily detained Mohammad Masaud Ziyadat then released him at a later time.
  2. At 17:05, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Nabi Yunis area located along the main road connecting Hebron and Bethlehem districts then searched residents and vehicles.
Raid
  1. At 10:55, Israeli forces raided Hebron city and set up a  set up a checkpoint and again at 01:05, stormed and searched several homes then withdrew at 04:30.
  2. At 23:50, Israeli forces raided Dura, served a military order for the demolition of a home owned by the family of Diya Abdul-Halim Al-Talahma (who was killed by Israeli forces) and summoned Rami Mohammad Jabr Al-Rajub to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning then withdrew at 03:30.
  3. At 23:50, Israeli forces raided Yatta, clashed with several residents then withdrew at 03:40.
  4. At 23:50, Israeli forces raided Al-Samu’ town , stormed a home owned by Ahmad Mansour Khalayleh after blasting open the front entrance using explosives and  summoned Mohammad Musa Khalayleh to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning then withdrew at 03:30.
  5. At dawn on February 26th 2016, Israeli forces raided Surif town and summoned Ahmad Al-Huwar to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.
Attack
  1. At 17:50, Israeli forces positioned near Al-Aroub camp fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents inside the camp for alleged stoning.
  2. At 17:50, Israeli forces positioned near the entrance of Safa village fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning and as a result injured 2 residents.
  3. At 19:40, Israeli forces positioned near the entrance of Sa’ir town fired rubber coated steel bullets; stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning and as a result injured the child: Foad Ayed Abdul-Mahdi Al-A’ramin (17 years old).
Detention
  1. On the evening of February 24th 2016, Israeli forces detained 5 residents: Mohammad Hilmi Mohamamd Abu Safiya, Muhanad Al-Shawiki, Amjad Al-Rajabi, Zied Abdul Qader Abu Ashiya and Tamer Yasser Yaghmour {All residents of Hebron city}.
GAZA STRIP

ALL DISTRICTS

  1. At 19:00 on August 26th 2014, Palestinian Gunmen and the Israeli military agreed to a cease fire agreement (brokered by the Arab Republic of Egypt) which includes the opening of border crossings to allow the entry of emergency supplies and humanitarian goods as well as construction material and agreed to increase the fishing limit to 6 nautical miles with possibility of increase to 12 nautical miles by the end of the year and to decrease the Military area to 100 meters, allow freedom of movement and a halt to targeted killings and assassinations and negotiations will be held for discussion on rebuilding the sea port and airports in the coming month.
  2. Israeli forces broke the ceasefire agreement by opening fire from their positions behind the Green Line towards Central Gaza and Khan Yunis.
  3. Israeli Naval vessels broke the ceasefire agreement by opening fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores North Gaza and Khan Yunis.

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points
  1. Beit Hanun (Erez) is open for the passage of critical patients, journalists, NGO staff, businessmen and passengers travelling abroad through Al-Karama crossing with previous coordination.
Attack
  1. At 09:00, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Al-Sudaniya area in west Beit Lahiya.

GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points
  1. Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
  2. Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.

CENTRAL GAZA

Attack
  1. At 12:30, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in Al-Maghazi camp.

KHAN YUNIS

Attack
  1. At 09:00, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Khaz’a town.
  2. At 21:35, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Khan Yunis city.

RAFAH

Closure of Crossing Points
  1. Yasser ‘Arafat International Airport remains closed.
  2. Rafah (Al ‘Awdah) Crossing is closed
  3. Sufa Crossing is closed
  4. Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing open for the entry of tourist and foreign diplomats and the entry of Humanitarian assistance and construction material funded by UNRWA.
