Daily Report February 25th 2016

WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure
  1. On February 24th 2016, the Israeli army, intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers under the age of 50 from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
  2. The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
  3. The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.
Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
  2. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint. 
Military Checkpoints
  1. Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
  2. On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu ‘fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall.
Raid
  1. At 17:30, Israeli forces raided Kafr Aqab village, clashed with several residents  and as a result injured 2 residents including a child: Hamzah Badi’ Dar Yacoub (15 years old) and Rafiq Salah Khalil then detained a resident.
  2. At 21:30, Israeli forces raided Al-Esawiya village and served military orders for the demolition of 9 homes and an Apartment building owned by: Sabah Abu Irmeleh, Khaled Mohammad Shihadeh, Jarrah Assi Abu Rayalah, Jafar Jamil Abu Rayalah and Abdel-Raziq Nassar.
  3. At 03:00, Israeli forces raided Hizma village, stormed several homes and detained 4 residents.
Detention
  1. At 04:20 on February 24th 2016, Israeli forces detained Ahmad Houssni during their rain into Abu Dis in addition to those mentioned in the previous report.
  2. At 11:30, Israeli forces detained Yasser Samir Hassan Dawiyat (A resident of Silwan neighbourhood in Jerusalem).
  3. At 11:30, Israeli forces detained Anas Abu Assab (A resident of Jerusalem city).
  4. At 12:45, Israeli forces detained Munthir Mustafa Ishaya (A resident of Beit Furiq in Nablus) for allegedly entering Jerusalem without a valid permit.
  5. Israeli forces detained Ali Rashid Barahma in Kafr Aqab village.
  6. Israeli forces detained 4 residents: Ali Yasser Kan’an, Mohammad Khalil Talib Salah Al-Din, Mohammad Mahmoud Hassan Kan’an and Hussein Mahmoud Hassan Kan’an.
Obstruction of Places of Worship
  1. At 09:00, Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli Military and Police forces stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem and provoked worshipers.
Settlers Violence
  1. At 16:00, an Israeli settler vehicle travelling along the main road near Shu’fat camp junction ran over the child Raghad Izzat (7 years old) {a resident of Anata} and as a result left her hospitalised with contusions.
Closure of Wall Gates
  1. The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
  2. The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Slewahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem IDs to cross, after subjecting them to thorough searches using electronic devices.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages
  2. On December 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed the West entrance of Al-Labban Al-Gharbi village with cement blocks.
  3. At 09:20 on February 9th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Shuqba and Shbatin villages with cement blocks and also installed a steel gate in the area.
  4. At 24:00 on February 14th 2016, closed the main road near the entrance of “Bet El” settlement which leads to Al-Jalazoun camp with cement blocks for alleged gunfire.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 11:25, Israeli forces set up checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Nabi Saleh village then searched residents and vehicles until 14:30.
  2. At 18:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Atara Bridge then searched residents and vehicles until 18:30.
Raid
  1. At dawn on February 24th 2016, Israeli forces raided Abud and detained a resident.
  2. At dawn on February 24th 2016, Israeli forces raided Kafr Ni’ma village and detained 3 residents including a child.
  3. At 18:35, Israeli forces raided Kharbatha al Misbah village, clashed with several residents then withdrew at 20:30.
  4. At 00:10, Israeli forces raided Ni’lin and demolished several livestock Shed’s.
  5. At 02:35, Israeli forces raided Beit Rima, clashed with several residents as they stormed a home and as a result injured 2 residents including a child: Layth Ahmad Abdel-Rauf Al-Rimawi (17 years old) then detained a resident and withdrew at 04:00.
  6. At 04:15, Israeli forces raided Al-Jalazoun camp, detained a resident then withdrew at 04:50.
Detention
  1. At 19:25, Israeli forces detained Yazeed Hatem Hamidat (A resident of Al-Jalazoun camp) as he was reporting to Israeli Intelligence for questioning based on a prior summon.
  2. Israeli forces detained Raed Riyad Dar Salah in Abud town.
  3. Israeli forces detained 3 residents: Abdallah Mohammad Mahmoud Atiyah (17 years old), Ward Mohammad Hussein Abdo and Jaber Mamdouh Jaber Abdo in Kafr Ni’ma village.
  4. Israeli forces detained Mohammad Fihmi Abu Sbieh in Al-Jalazoun camp.

JENIN

Closure
  1. On December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area  {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area  and declared the area a closed military zone.
Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the road leading to the town of ‘Arraba east of the illegal settlement Dotan.
Raid
  1. At 00:30, Israeli forces raided Al Fandaqumiya village, confiscated a vehicle owned by Husam Izzat Nayef Dahoun (A Palestinian Detainee) then withdrew at 05:00.
  2. At 01:35, Israeli forces raided Qabatiya, detained 3 residents including a child then withdrew at 03:50.
Detention
  1. Israeli forces detained 3 residents: Ibrahim Ahmad Khazmiyah (17 years old), Omran Fadil Nazal and Zidan Fadil Nazal in Qabatiya.
House Demolition
  1. At 04:00 on February 24th 2016, Israeli forces stormed Qabatiya and served military orders for the demolition of 3 homes {owned by the families of residents killed by Israeli forces}: Ahmad Najeh Abdel-Latif Abu Al-Rub, Mahmoud Mohammad Ahmad Kamil and Qusay Thiyab Abu Al-Rub.
Closure of Wall Gates
  1. Israeli forces continue too close the wall gate and only allow those holding special permits to enter through it.

TUBAS

Raid
  1. At 02:50, Israeli forces raided Tammun town, detained a resident then withdrew at 04:30.
Detention
  1. Israeli forces detained Mansour Mustafa Bani Odeh in Tammun.

TULKAREM

Military Checkpoints
  1. At 08:20, Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at “Eniv” checkpoint located along the main road connecting Tulkarem and Nablus and impeded the free flow of traffic until 11:00.
Raid
  1. At 24:00, Israeli forces raided Attil.
  2. At 01:20, Israeli forces raided Tulkarem city, detained 2 residents then withdrew at 04:50.
  3. At 01:20, Israeli forces raided Bal’a town detained a resident and temporarily detained Mahdi Hassan Hamed Hamad then released him at a later time.
Detention
  1. Israeli forces detained 2 residents: Mohammad Ghassan Abdel Rauf Al-Jandi and Mus’ab Ghassan Abdel Rauf Al-Jandi in Tulkarem city.
  2. Israeli forces detained Moath Yusef Naji Barbarat in Bal’a town.

QALQILIYA

Closure of Roads
  1. Israeli forces continue to close with cement blocks agricultural roads east of Azzun town.
  2. In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
  3. Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 18:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the east entrance of Qalqiliya then searched residents and vehicles.
Raid
  1. At 01:30, Israeli forces raided Azzun then stormed and searched 3 homes.
Closure of Wall Gates
  1. The Israeli army continues to restrict access at ‘Azzun ‘Atma Wall gate and impeded the free flow of traffic. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the entrance to the village of Wadi Al- Rasha and to deny civilian access.
  2. The Israeli army allows residents to access the village through Gate #109. Having removed the gate at the entrance to the village of Ras Atiya; the Israeli army only allows students to cross to their schools outside the village through the Habla gate.

NABLUS

Closure
  1. Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area.
Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close the northern entrance to Qabalan town; the southern entrances to the town of Jamma’in and the villages of Duma and Qaryut.
  2. Since 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds.
  3. Since 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area.
  4. Since 18:30 on January 19th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Huwara and Walada village with dirt mounds.
Raid
  1. At 02:30, Israeli forces raided Awarta village and detained 2 residents.
  2. At 03:40, Israeli forces raided Madma village and detained 3 residents.
  3. At dawn on February 25th 2016, Israeli forces raided Einabus village and detained a resident.
Detention
  1. At 11:30, Israeli forces detained Oday Adnan Balatiya (A resident of Al Badhan village) as he was reporting to Israeli Intelligence for questioning based on prior summon.
  2. Israeli forces detained 2 residents: Waleed Jarah Obidat and Abdel-Rahman Yassin Jabali in Awarta village.
  3. Israeli forces detained 3 residents:  Shaheed Ghassan Ziyadeh, Mohammad Zahir Qat and Waheed Husam Ziyadeh in Madama village.
  4. Israeli forces detained Mohammad Mahdi Haji in Einabus village.

SALFIT

Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the entrance to two detour roads connecting Marda village to its farmland.
  2. Since 11:00 on July 30th 2012, Israeli forces have closed two roads leading to Abu Nasar and Qatan Al-Jama’ located in western area of Deir Istiya with cement blocks.

  1. Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Za’tara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic.
Raid
  1. At 01:50, Israeli forces raided Az-Zawiya town, detained a resident then withdrew at 03:55.
  2. At 02:30, Israeli forces raided Rafat village, stormed and searched a home then withdrew at 03:10.

  1. Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District.

BETHLEHEM

Closure
  1. The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
  2. Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities.
Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala  ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to  Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds.
  2. Since 10:45 on September 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the agricultural road located in Arab Al-Rashaydeh village located near “Malee Amous” settlement with dirt mounds.
  3. Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires.
  4. At 09:15 on February 16th 2016, Israeli forces closed the bypass road connecting Za’tara and Ush Al-Ghurab area located in east Beit Sahur town with dirt mounds.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 19:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the west entrance of Beit Fajjar then searched residents and vehicle until 20:10.
Raid
  1. At 15:35, Israeli forces raided Al-Khader, occupied a home owned by Ibrahim Shikhat Falah then converted its rooftop into a military post then clashed with several residents  and again at 01:45 raided the area and detained a resident as they stormed a home.
  2. At 24:00, Israeli forces raided Nahhallin village, summoned 2 residents: Ibrahim Sami Al-Nis and Nour Mohammad Izat Shakarneh to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.
  3. At 02:00, Israeli forces raided Taqou’ then stormed and searched several homes.
  4. At 02:40, Israeli forces raided Beit Sahur.
Attack
  1. At 12:50, Israeli forces positioned near “Kefar Ezyon” settlement opened fire towards Mamdouh Yusef Amro and as a result injured him then detained him for allegedly attempting to stab a Israeli Settler {As Alleged by the Israeli Military}.
  2. At 20:30, Israeli forces positioned near the entrance of Husan village fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
Detention
  1. At 09:00, Israeli forces positioned near “Kefar Ezyon” settlement detained Mohammad Ismail Jarradat (A resident of Sa’ir town in Hebron district).
  2. Israeli forces detained Mohammad Omar Marzouq Salah in Al-Khader.
  3. Israeli force positioned near “Kefar Ezyon” settlement detained Mamdouh Yusef Amro (A resident of Al-Majd village in Hebron).

HEBRON

Closure
  1. The Israeli army continues to close Al-Shuhada’ Street, Al-Sahleh and Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighbourhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed.
  2. Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.
Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City.
  2. The Israeli army continues to close the bypass road connecting Bani Na’im and Zif village junction with dirt mounds.
  3. The Israeli Army continues to close the entrance of Beit Ummar (located near the local Cemetery) with dirt mounds.
Raid
  1. At 23:20, Israeli forces raided Beit ‘Awwa and served a military order to halt construction on a home owned by Hassan Ahmad Abdel-Fattah Al-Al-Sawiti.
  2. At 00:20, Israeli forces raided Al-Majd village, stormed the family home of Mamdouh Yusef Amro {who was detained near “Kefar Ezyon” settlement in Bethlehem for allegedly attempting to stab an Israeli Settler.
  3. At 01:40, Israeli forces raided As-Samu’ and detained a resident.
  4. At 01:40, Israeli forces raided Hebron city and detained 3 residents.
  5. At dawn on February 25th 2016, Israeli forces raided Dura and detained a resident.
Detention
  1. On February 23rd 2016, Israeli forces detained 2 residents: Tarik Anwar Khalil Id’ies and Ammar Ahmad Al-Awwawi {both residents of Hebron city}.
  2. At 00:50 on February 24th 2016, Israeli forces detained Azzam Shihadeh Al-Maghamir during their raid into Yatta in addition to those mentioned in the previous report.
  3. Israeli forces detained Mahmoud Radi Mahmoud Al-Za’arir.
  4. Israeli forces detained 3 residents: Ehab Shafik Al-Qawasmi, Abdel-Hadi Radi Abu Ayisha and Anas Sa’ed in Hebron city.
  5. Israeli forces detained Musataf Al-Bustanji in Dura town.
Settlers Violence
  1. At 21:15, a group of Israeli settlers from “Kiryat Arba’” settlement located in the east area of the old city of Hebron stoned homes and residents located near the settlement and as a result injured Wael Fakhouri and his wife Na’ela Fakhouri leaving them both hospitalised with contusions. .
Injuries
  1. Israeli settler stoned and injured 2 resiednts: Wael Fakhouri and his wife Na’ela  Fakhouri.
GAZA STRIP

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points
  1. Beit Hanun (Erez) is Beit Hanun (Erez) open for the passage of critical patients, journalists, NGO staff, businesspersons and passengers travelling abroad through Al-Karama crossing with previous coordination.
Attack
  1. At 07:40 on February 24th 2016, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Al-Sudaniya area located in west Beit Lahiya and as a result damaged a fishing boat.
  2. At 14:30, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in North Beit Lahiya.

GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points
  1. Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
  2. Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
Attack
  1. At 08:30, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land located in east Az Zaytoun neighbourhood located in south east Gaza city.

CENTRAL GAZA

Attack
  1. At 07:45 on February 24th 2016, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of An-Nuseirat camp.

KHAN YUNIS

Attack
  1. At 08:00, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Al-Fukhari town.

RAFAH

Closure of Crossing Points
  1. Yasser ‘Arafat International Airport remains closed.
  2. Rafah (Al ‘Awdah) Crossing is closed
  3. Sufa Crossing is closed
  4. Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing is open for the entry of tourist and foreign diplomats and the entry of Humanitarian assistance and construction material funded by UNRWA.
