Daily Report February 16th 2016

WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure
  1. On February 15th 2016, the Israeli army, intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers under the age of 50 from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
  2. The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
  3. The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.
Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
  2. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint. 
Military Checkpoints
  1. Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
  2. On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu ‘fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall.
  3. At 20:40, Israeli forces closed Shu’fat checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic and reopened it at a later time.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 21:45, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Biddu village then searched residents and vehicle until 01:20.
  2. At 21:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Qalandiya roundabout then searched residents and vehicles until 23:30.
Raid
  1. At dawn on February 15th 2016, Israeli forces raided Al-Eisawiya village and detained a resident.
  2. At 21:30, Israeli forces raided Qalandiya camp, detained 3 residents then withdrew at 21:55.
Attack
  1. At 15:30, Israeli forces positioned near Bab Al-Amoud area in Jerusalem opened fire towards Rawiya Fayiz Ja’abis (15 years old){A resident of Jabal Al-Mukabir neighbourhood in Jerusalem} and as a result injured her for allegedly attempting to stab a Israeli soldier{As alleged by the Israeli Military and detained her.
  2. At 20:40, Israeli forces positioned in the vicinity of Shu’fat checkpoint in Jerusalem fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
Detention
  1. On February 15th 2016, Israeli forces detained Hani Eid Rabay’a (A resident of Al-Abidiya town in Bethlehem} for allegedly entering Jerusalem without a valid permit.
  2. At 24:00, Israeli forces detained Imad Adel Al-Khalili (A resident of Qalandiya camp) as he was reporting to Israeli Intelligence for questioning based on a prior summon.
  3. Israeli forces detained Hakam Dabas in Al-Eisawiya village.
  4. Israeli forces detained 3 residents: Hazem Mohammad Hamaydeh, Abdel-Haleem Wael Hamaydeh and Shaker Ahmad Hamaydeh in Qalandiya village.
  5. Israeli forces detained Rawiya Fayez Ja’abis (15 years old) {A resident of Jabal Al-Mukabir in Jerusalem after injuring her near Bab Al-Amoud area on the old city of Jerusalem.
Obstruction of Places of Worship
  1. At 10:00, Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli Military and Police forces stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem and provoked worshipers.
Closure of Wall Gates
  1. The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
  2. The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Slewahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem IDs to cross, after subjecting them to thorough searches using electronic devices.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages
  2. On December 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed the West entrance of Al-Labban Al-Gharbi village with cement blocks.
  3. On January 27th 2016, Israeli forces closed Beit Ur Al-Tahta village junction which leads to road (443) with cement blocks.
  4. At 24:00 on February 14th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road located near “Bet El” settlement which leads to Al-Jalazoun camp {after alleged shooting towards Bet El settlement {as alleged by the Israeli military}.
Military Checkpoints
  1. At 19:40, Israeli forces closed Al-Mahkama checkpoint located near “Bet El “ settlement in North Al-Bireh city and impeded the free flow of traffic {After unidentified assailants hurled a Molotov cocktail fire bomb towards Israeli settler vehicles passing along the main road travelling along the main bypass road near Beitin village and then reopened it at 20:30.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 08:40 and again at 18:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Sinjil then searched residents and vehicles and opened fire towards several children for alleged stoning then withdrew at 21:30.
  2. At 15:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Ein Sinya village round about located along the main road connecting Ramallah and Nablus then searched residents and vehicles.
  3. At 17:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint beneath Yabroud Village Bridge then searched residents and vehicles.
  4. At 20:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near checkpoint at the entrance of Kharbataha Al-Misbah village then searched residents and vehicles until 23:55.
Raid
  1. At 08:25, Israeli forces raided Al-Amari camp located in Al-Bireh city, clashed with several residents as they stormed and searched 4 home and as a result injured 41 residents , detained 2 residents then withdrew at 11:05.
  2. At 13:00, Israeli forces raided Deir Nathim village, clashed with several residents and as a result injured 2 residents including a child: Abd Al-Ahadi Husam Al-Khatib (10 years old) and Yaseen Mohammad Al-Khatib then withdrew at 15:00.
  3. At 20:20, Israeli forces raided Kharbataha Al-Misbah village occupied 2 homes owned by Haydar Samour Harfoush and Eyad Harfoush then converted their rooftops into Military posts then withdrew at 01:30.
  4. At 20:25 and again at 01:40, Israeli forces raided Al-Bireh city until 02:35.
  5. At 05:50, Israeli forces raided Al-Nabi Saleh village.
Detention
  1. Israeli forces detained Diya Jamal Abdel-Fatah Jabr and Daod Suliman Haboub in Al-Amara’i camp.

JENIN

Closure
  1. On December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area  {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area  and declared the area a closed military zone.
Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the road leading to the town of ‘Arraba east of the illegal settlement Dotan.
  2. At 05:00, Israeli forces closed all the entrances leading to Al-Arqa village with dirt mounds.
Raid
  1. At 08:00, Israeli forces raided Al-Arqa village, clashed with several residents as they stormed several homes and as a result injured 5 residents and left 15 others suffocated from tear gas inhalation and again at 04:45 and detained 2 residents including a child.
  2. At 00:30, Israeli forces raided Al-Hafirah village.
  3. At 03:55, Israeli forces raided Qabatiya village and detained a resident.
Detention
  1. Israeli forces detained Abboud Mohammad Khalil Hamad (15 years old) and Ammar Ibrahim Shalash Hamour in Al-Arqa village.
  2. Israeli forces detained Mohammad Nasri Rajeh Kamil in Qabatiya.
Closure of Wall Gates
  1. Israeli forces continue too close the wall gate and only allow those holding special permits to enter through it.

TULKAREM

Military Checkpoints
  1. Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at “Eniv” checkpoint located along the main road connecting Tulkarem and Nablus and impeded the free flow of traffic.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 08:45, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Beit Lid junction then searched residents and vehicles.
  2. At 18:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Kafr Al-Labbad village and detained 2 residents.
Raid
  1.  At 13:20, Israeli forces raided Beit Lid and its camps and detained 2 children.
Detention
  1. Israeli forces detained 2 residents: Diya Mohammad Foqaha (15 years old) and Mohammad Jamal Foqaha (15 years old).
Attack
  1.  At 11:10, Israeli forces positioned near the wall gate (664) in Shweikiya neighbourhood in Tulkarem fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

QALQILIYA

Closure of Roads
  1. Israeli forces continue to close with cement blocks agricultural roads east of Azzun town. In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
  2. Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate.
  3. At 21:25 on February 13th 2016, Israeli forces closed the entrance Aqraba with dirt mounds.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 00:10, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Azzun then searched residents and vehicles until 01:30.
  2. At 22:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint along Jit village junction then searched residents and vehicles.
Raid
  1. At 01:10, Israeli forces raided Qalqiliya city, stormed and searched a Apartment building, detained a resident then withdrew at 04:50.
Detention
  1. Israeli forces detained Adib Jabr Al-Ghalban in Qalqiliya.
Closure of Wall Gates
  1. The Israeli army continues to restrict access at ‘Azzun ‘Atma Wall gate and impeded the free flow of traffic. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the entrance to the village of Wadi Al- Rasha and to deny civilian access.
  2. The Israeli army allows residents to access the village through Gate #109. Having removed the gate at the entrance to the village of Ras Atiya; the Israeli army only allows students to cross to their schools outside the village through the Habla gate.

NABLUS

Closure
  1. Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area.
Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close the northern entrance to Qabalan town; the southern entrances to the town of Jamma’in and the villages of Duma and Qaryut.
  2. At 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds.
  3. On November 29th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Burin, Awarta and Osirin as well as the agricultural bypass road connecting Aqraba and Qabalan village with dirt mounds.
  4. At 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area.
  5. At 18:30 on January 19th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Huwara and Walada village with dirt mounds.
  6. At 09:00 on February 1st 2016, Israeli forces closed the south steel gate entrance of Jama’I and closed the main road connecting Jama’in and Zieta with dirt mounds.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 21:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Deir Sharaf  village junction then searched residents and vehicles until 22:35
  2. At 21:55, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Duma village then searched residents and vehicles until 23:30.
Raid
  1. At 23:10, Israeli forces raided Nablus, clashed with several residents as they stormed Joseph’s Tomb and as a result injured Ahmad Billal Zaytoun (a resident of Balata camp) and also damaged several lockers as they searched the Security Guard room then withdrew at 04:05.
House Demolition
  1. At 10:10, Israeli forces stormed Khirbat Ein Al-Rashash area located in Duma village and demolished 20 homes and livestock dens after previously warning them to leave the area

SALFIT

Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the entrance to two detour roads connecting Marda village to its farmland.
  2. On 15.04.2012, the Israeli army has opened the northern entrance to Salfit city to civilian which was closed since the year 2000 and prevented access from 08:00 until 09:20.
  3. Since 11:00 on July 30th 2012, Israeli forces have closed two roads leading to Abu Nasar and Qatan Al-Jama’ located in western area of Deir Istiya with cement blocks.
Military Checkpoints
  1. Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Za’tara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic.
Raid
  1. At 01:35, Israeli forces raided Rafat village, stormed a home then withdrew at 03:30.
  2. At 02:00, Israeli forces raided Al-Zawiya and detained 2 residents.
Detention
  1. Israeli forces detained Sa’id Abdel Athim Musa Na’ba and Ahmad Abdel Athim Musa Na’ba.
Destruction of Property
  1. At 10:35, Israeli forces stormed Wadi Qana area  and uprooted 80 Olive trees owned by Husni Mustafa Mansour (A resident of Deir Istiya).

JERICHO

Military Checkpoints
  1. Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 14:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint along the main road in Al-Oja village, temporarily detained 2 Security Force officers: Hani Ma’ali and Musa Hussein Issa then released them at 15:50.
Raid
  1. At 02:10 on February 15th 2016, Israeli forces Fasayil village and summoned Ahmad Mahmoud Nuwarah to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.
  2. At 01:05, Israeli forces raided Al-Oja village, stormed and searched a Storage room then withdrew at 01:35.

BETHLEHEM

Closure
  1. The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
  2. Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities

  1. The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala  ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to  Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds.
  2. The Israeli army continues to close the road leading to “Newe Daniyyel” settlement and agricultural land in Al-Khader; a road between  Um Tuba and Wadi Al-Hums: Wadi Fukin, Al-Jaba, the Green Line; a road between Za’tara and a detour road, and a road between Taqou and Khirbet Al-Deir with cement blocks.
  3. Since August 2nd 2012, Israeli forces closed a road leading to Beit Jalla.
  4. Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires.
  5. Since June 3rd 2013, the Israeli army closed the road connecting Nihalin and road 60 with dirt mounds.
  6. Since 13:20 on September 29th 2013, the Israeli army closed a road leading to 50 acres of agricultural land in Wadi Salem area in Al-Khadr with dirt mounds.
  7.  Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Surif and Al-Jub’a village with dirt mounds.
  8. On January 28th 2014, Israeli forces closed the steel gate at the entrance of Nihalin { replacing the dirt mounds placed at the entrance since the year 2002} and placed time schedule for opening the gate from 06:00 until 14:00 on a daily bases.
  9. Since 10:45 on September 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the agricultural road located in Arab Al-Rashaydeh village located near “Malee Amous” settlement with dirt mounds.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 08:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Dar Salah village located at the east entrance of Beit Sahur then searched residents and vehicles.
Raid
  1. At dawn on February 15th 2016, Israeli forces raided Aliyat Ali village and detained a resident.
  2.  At 13:30, Israeli forces raided Al-Khadr, clashed with several residents then withdrew at 14:15.
  3. At 16:10, Israeli forces raided Nahalin village, clashed with several residents and temporarily detained Ali Safi Mohammad Najjajrah then released him at a later time.
  4. At 20:15, Israeli forces raided Beitar village, clashed with several residents then withdrew at 21:15.
  5. At 00:55, Israeli forces raided Al-Abiyat area in Bethlehem.
  6. At 01:00, Israeli forces raided Beit Fajjar, stormed several homes, detained 2 residents and summoned Mahmoud Abdallah Ahmad to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.
  7. At 04:35, Israeli forces raided Al-Duhishseh camp in Bethlehem.
Detention
  1. At 03:10 on February 15th 2016, Israeli forces detained 2 residents: Haytham Ahmad Yusef Khalif and Tamer Mustafa Abu Daya during their raid into Wadi Shahin area located in Bethlehem in addition to those mentioned in the previous report.
  2. At 10:00, Israeli forces detained Sam Ali Ahmad Al-Qaddi (A resident of Surif town in Hebron) for allegedly attempting to stab a Israeli soldier.
  3. Israeli forces detained Ayman Khalil Hassan Ali in Aliyat Ali village.
  4. Israeli forces detained Qusay Mahmoud Thawabteh and Hani Abdallah Ali Taqatqa in Beit Fajjar village.
Attack
  1. At 16:30, Israeli forces positioned near Ayda camp in North Bethlehem fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

HEBRON

Closure
  1. The Israeli army continues to close Al-Shuhada’ Street, Al-Sahleh and Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighbourhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed.
  2. Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.
Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Al-Thahiriya and Al-Samoa’ towns, Al-‘Arrub refugee camp, and Al-Tuwani and Al-Karmil villages. 
  2. The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City.
  3. The Israeli army continues to close all roads leading to Road # 60 as well as detour roads along the settler bypass road leading to Yatta town.
  4. The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds a detour road leading to e to Al-Simiya village, the southern entrance of Al-Samou’ and the entrance of Beit Annun with cement blocks.

  1. At 08:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the North entrance of Hebron then searched residents and vehicles.
Raid
  1. At 10:45 and again at 20:10, Israeli forces raided Hebron then stormed and searched a home.
  2. At 11:05, Israeli forces raided Ithna and stormed a home.
  3. At 12:15, Israeli forces raided Deir Sammit village then stormed and searched a home.
Detention
  1. At 23:05, Israeli forces positioned near Al-Ibrahimi mosque in the old city of Hebron detained Taha Hussein Al-Shareef.
  2. At dawn on February 13th 2016, Israeli forces positioned in the old city of Hebron detained 3 residents: Hisham Jum’a Al-Atrash, Mohammad Hassan Hassouneh Al-Ja’bari and Idris Hassan Hassouneh Al-Ja’bari.
GAZA STRIP

ALL DISTRICTS

  1. At 19:00 on August 26th 2014, Palestinian Gunmen and the Israeli military agreed to a cease fire agreement (brokered by the Arab Republic of Egypt) which includes the opening of border crossings to allow the entry of emergency supplies and humanitarian goods as well as construction material and agreed to increase the fishing limit to 6 nautical miles with possibility of  increase to 12 nautical miles by the end of the year and to decrease the Military area to 100 meters, allow freedom of movement and a halt to targeted killings and assassinations and negotiations will be held for discussion on rebuilding the sea port and airports in the coming month.
  2. The Israeli Military broke the cease fire agreement by opening fire from their positions behind the Green Line towards Khan Yunis and Rafah.
  3. Israeli Naval vessels broke the cease fire agreement by opening fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of North Gaza and Gaza.

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points
  1. Beit Hanun (Erez) is  open for the passage of critical patients, journalists, NGO staff, businessmen and passengers travelling abroad through Al-Karama crossing with previous coordination.
Attack
  1. At 21:45 on February 14th 2016, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Al-Sudaniya area located in west Beit Lahiya.
  2. At 08:00, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Al-Sudaniya area located in west Beit Lahiya.

GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points
  1. Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
  2. Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
Attack
  1. At 13:00, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Gaza city.

KHAN YUNIS

Attack
  1. At 08:40, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Khan Yunis city

RAFAH

  1. Yasser ‘Arafat International Airport remains closed.
