Daily Report February 13, 2016

WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure

(i) On February 12th 2016, the Israeli army, intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers under the age of 50 from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
(iii) The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint.

Military Checkpoints

(i) Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
(ii) On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu ‘fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 22:25, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Biddu then searched residents and vehicles until 02:30.
(ii) At 24:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Bardala then searched residents and vehicles until 02:20.

Raid

(i) At 17:00, Israeli forces raided Biddu and clashed with several residents.
(ii) At 02:10, Israeli forces raided Al-Sawahra Al-Sharqiya.

Attack

(i) At 15:00, Israeli forces positioned near the entrance of Al-Eisawiya village fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
(ii) At 16:25, Israeli forces positioned in Abu Dis fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning and as a result injured the child Yusef Abdel-Qadder Shihadeh (15 years old).
(iii) At 17:20, Israeli forces positioned at the wall gate in Al-Eizariya fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents

Injuries

Israeli forces injured the child Yusef Abdel-Qadder Shihadeh (15 years old).

Detention

On February 12th 2016, Israeli forces detained Mohammad Ahmad Naji Doud (A resident of Beit Duqqu village).

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Slewahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem IDs to cross, after subjecting them to thorough searches using electronic devices.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages
(ii) On December 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed the West entrance of Al-Labban Al-Gharbi village with cement blocks.
(iii) On January 27th 2016, Israeli forces closed Beit Ur Al-Tahta village junction which leads to road (443) with cement blocks.

Flying Checkpoints

At 13:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint beneath Yabroud village bridge then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

(i) At 09:35, Israeli raided Beit Ur Al-Tahta and served a military order for the demolition of the family home owned by Ibrahim Aliyan (A resident killed by Israeli forces).
(ii) At 01:15, Israeli forces raided Beituniya, clashed with several residents as they stormed a home and confiscated a vehicles and a tractor then withdrew at 02:00.
(iii) At 02:50, Israeli forces raided Beit Rima and Deir Ghassaneh then summoned 2 residents: Jamal Khaled Al-Rimawi (17 years old) and Mohammad Shafiq Irhami to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.

Attack

(i) At 14:30, Israeli forces positioned at the entrance of Al-Jalazoun camp fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning and detained a child.
(ii) At 14:45, Israeli forces positioned at the entrance of Deir Abu Mash’al village fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
(iii) At 16:20, Israeli forces positioned in the vicinity of “Pesagout” settlement located in east Al-Bireh city fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
(iv) At 16:25, Israeli forces positioned in Ein Samiya area near Kafr Malik village fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
(v) At 16:30, Israeli forces positioned near the entrance of Al-Mughier village fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
(vi) At 17:30, Israeli forces positioned in the vicinity of “Ofar” Military base/ Prison fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning and as a result injured 4 residents including the child Mohammad Ahmad Al-Khatib (17 years old).

Injuries

Israeli forces injured 4 residents including the child Mohammad Ahmad Al-Khatib (17 years old).

Detention

Israeli forces detained Hamza Abd Al-Khalil (16 years old) in Al-Jalazoun camp

Demonstrations

(i) At 12:45, a demonstration took place in Ni’lin village protesting against the construction of the wall during which they clashed with Israeli forces and as a result injured 4 residents and suffocated 3 others from tear gas inhalation.
(ii) At 12:45, a demonstration took place in Bil’in protesting against the construction of the wall during which they clashed with Israeli forces and as a result injured the child: Mamdouh Muhib Sarour (15 years old) and left several residents suffocated from tear gas inhalation.
(iii) At 12:45, a demonstration took place in Al-Nabi Saleh village protesting against the confiscation of land for the purpose of settlement construction during which they clashed with several residents for alleged stoning.

JENIN

Closure

On December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area and declared the area a closed military zone.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the road leading to the town of ‘Arraba east of the illegal settlement Dotan.
(ii) At 14:50 on February 5th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Jenin city and Qabatiya with dirt mounds.

Raid

At 09:00, Israeli forces raided Saris village.

Closure of Wall Gates

Israeli forces continue too close the wall gate and only allow those holding special permits to enter through it.

TULKAREM

Military Checkpoints

Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at “Eniv” checkpoint located along the main road connecting Tulkarem and Nablus and impeded the free flow of traffic

Flying Checkpoints

At 20:35, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Baqa Al-Sharqiya then searched residents and vehicles until 21:30.

Raid

(i) At 20:45, Israeli forces raided Nazlat Issa village stormed and searched a coffee shop and an Aluminium shop then withdrew at 22:25.
(ii) At 03:15, Israeli forces raided Tulkarem and Tulkarem camp, stormed and searched a home in the camp then withdrew at 06:40.

QALQILIYA

Closure of Roads

(i) Israeli forces continue to close with cement blocks agricultural roads east of Azzun town.
(ii) In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
(iii) Since 16:55 on December 18th 2014, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with dirt mounds
(iv) Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 07:50 on February 12th 2016, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Jit village junction then searched residents and vehicles until 09:50.
(ii) At 12:20 and again at 20:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the east entrance of Qalqiliya then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

(i) At 11:40, Israeli forces raided Kafr Qaddum village, temporarily detained 2 journalists: Ayman Nubani and Ahmad Tarabi then released them at a later time.
(ii) At 20:40, Israeli forces raided Izbit Al-Tabib village then stormed 2 homes.
(iii) At 23:30, Israeli forces raided Jayyous and clashed with several residents.

Temporary Detention

Israeli forces temporarily detained 2 journalists: Ayman Nubani and Ahmad Tarabi in Kafr Qaddum village then released them at a later time.
At 15:00, Israeli forces positioned near Halba village temporarily detained Hamza Abdallah Aawisat (A resident of Qalqiliya) and Mahiyoub Othman Odeh (A resident of Magharit Al-Dab’a village) then released them at 16:00.

Demonstrations

At 13:00, a demonstration took place in Kafr Qaddum against the closure of the east entrance during which they clashed with Israeli forces tried to disrupt the demonstration by firing live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards demonstrators who attempted to reach they demonstration site and as a result left several residents suffocating from tear gas inhalation.

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to restrict access at ‘Azzun ‘Atma Wall gate and impeded the free flow of traffic. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the entrance to the village of Wadi Al- Rasha and to deny civilian access.
(ii) The Israeli army allows residents to access the village through Gate #109. Having removed the gate at the entrance to the village of Ras Atiya; the Israeli army only allows students to cross to their schools outside the village through the Habla gate.

NABLUS

Closure

Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the roads of Til-Burin and Beit Furik-Salem; the settler bypass road connecting the village of Deir al Hatab to the settlement of Alon Moreh; the road connecting the town of ‘Aqraba to the village of Osrin; and the detour road between the town of Qabalan and the village of Osrin.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the northern entrance to Qabalan town; the southern entrances to the town of Jamma’in and the villages of Duma and Qaryut.
(iii) At 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds.
(iv) On November 29th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Burin, Awarta and Osirin as well as the agricultural bypass road connecting Aqraba and Qabalan village with dirt mounds.
(v) At 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area.
(vi) At 18:30 on January 19th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Huwara and Walada village with dirt mounds.
(vii) At 09:00 on February 1st 2016, Israeli forces closed the south steel gate entrance of Jama’I and closed the main road connecting Jama’in and Zieta with dirt mounds.

Flying Checkpoints

At 11:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Deir Sharaf junction then searched residents and vehicles.

Temporary Detention

At 21:15, Israeli forces positioned at a military post located in the North Hills of Nablus temporarily detained 2 residents including a child: Madani Abdel-Mu’ti Shuqo (17 years old) and Mohammad Khaled Hamdi Einbuis.

Attack

(i) At 13:45, Israeli forces positioned in the area between Beit Furiq and “Yitmar” settlement fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
(ii) At 16:00, Israeli forces positioned at east Beit Furiq fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

SALFIT

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the entrance to two detour roads connecting Marda village to its farmland.
(ii) On 15.04.2012, the Israeli army has opened the northern entrance to Salfit city to civilian which was closed since the year 2000 and prevented access from 08:00 until 09:20.
(iii) Since 11:00 on July 30th 2012, Israeli forces have closed two roads leading to Abu Nasar and Qatan Al-Jama’ located in western area of Deir Istiya with cement blocks.

Military Checkpoints

Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Za’tara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic.

JERICHO

Military Checkpoints

Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 08:05, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Fasayil village junction then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 18:05, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the Dead Sea junction then searched residents and vehicles until 18:35.

BETHLEHEM

Closure

(i) The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
(ii) Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the road leading to “Newe Daniyyel” settlement and agricultural land in Al-Khader; a road between Um Tuba and Wadi Al-Hums: Wadi Fukin, Al-Jaba, the Green Line; a road between Za’tara and a detour road, and a road between Taqou and Khirbet Al-Deir with cement blocks.
(iii) Since August 2nd 2012, Israeli forces closed a road leading to Beit Jalla.
(iv) Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires.
(v) Since June 3rd 2013, the Israeli army closed the road connecting Nihalin and road 60 with dirt mounds.
(vi) Since 13:20 on September 29th 2013, the Israeli army closed a road leading to 50 acres of agricultural land in Wadi Salem area in Al-Khadr with dirt mounds.
(vii) Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Surif and Al-Jub’a village with dirt mounds.
(viii) On January 28th 2014, Israeli forces closed the steel gate at the entrance of Nihalin { replacing the dirt mounds placed at the entrance since the year 2002} and placed time schedule for opening the gate from 06:00 until 14:00 on a daily bases.
(ix) Since 10:45 on September 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the agricultural road located in Arab Al-Rashaydeh village located near “Malee Amous” settlement with dirt mounds.

Raid

(i) At 19:45, Israeli forces raided Harmala village temporarily detained 2 children: Hamza Osama Askar (14 years old) and Talib Wajeeh Talib (15 years old) then released them at 20:15.
(ii) At 01:10, Israeli forces raided Al-Obidiya.

Attack

(i) At 12:40, Israeli forces positioned in the vicinity of Billal Bin Rabah Mosque and in Al-Ayda camp located in North Bethlehem fired live ammunition; rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
(ii) At 14:00, Israeli forces positioned in Um Al-Rakaba area in Al-Khader fired Bethlehem fired live ammunition; rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning and as a result injured the child Salah Riziq Ahmad Musa (17 years old).
(iii) At 14:30, Israeli forces positioned at the west entrance of Beit Fajjar fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
(iv) At 14:35, Israeli forces positioned near Teqou’ fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

Injuries

the child Salah Riziq Ahmad Musa (17 years old) was injured by Israeli forces.

House Demolition

At 12:50, Israeli forces stormed Um Al-Rakaba area in Al-Khader and occupied a home owned by Khader Ali Saleh and converted its rooftop into a military post then withdrew at a later time.

HEBRON

Closure

(i) The Israeli army continues to close Al-Shuhada’ Street, Al-Sahleh and Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighbourhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed.
(ii) Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Al-Thahiriya and Al-Samoa’ towns, Al-‘Arrub refugee camp, and Al-Tuwani and Al-Karmil villages.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City.
(iii) The Israeli army continues to close all roads leading to Road # 60 as well as detour roads along the settler bypass road leading to Yatta town.
(iv) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds a detour road leading to e to Al-Simiya village, the southern entrance of Al-Samou’ and the entrance of Beit Annun with cement blocks.
(v) At 05:50 on November 5th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance leading Farsh Al-Hawa area in Hebron with Cement blocks.
(vi) At 10:30 on November 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the junction located near “Hagi” settlement located in south Hebron with cement blocks.
(vii) At 21:00 on November 11th 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Beit Awwa and Al-Majd village with cement block and dirt mounds.
(viii) On December 9th 2015, Israeli forces closed a road near Jabal Jallis area located in the old city of Hebron and closed the bypass road.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 08:!5, Israeli forces set up 2 checkpoints at the entrance of Al-Fahs area located in south Hebron and Zif village junction then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 11:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the north entrance of Hebron then searched residents and vehicles.

Attack

(i) At 13:30, Israeli forces positioned in Al-Dawara area located in south S’ir fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
(ii) At 14:30, Israeli forces positioned near Al-Aroub camp fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
(iii) At 16:00, Israeli forces positioned near Haloul bridge fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

GAZA STRIP

ALL DISTRICTS

• At 19:00 on August 26th 2014, Palestinian Gunmen and the Israeli military agreed to a cease fire agreement (brokered by the Arab Republic of Egypt) which includes the opening of border crossings to allow the entry of emergency supplies and humanitarian goods as well as construction material and agreed to increase the fishing limit to 6 nautical miles with possibility of increase to 12 nautical miles by the end of the year and to decrease the Military area to 100 meters, allow freedom of movement and a halt to targeted killings and assassinations and negotiations will be held for discussion on rebuilding the sea port and airports in the coming month.

• Israeli forces broke the cease fire agreement by opening fire from their positions behind the Green Line towards North Gaza, Gaza, Central Gaza, Khan Yunis and Rafah as a result injured 5 residents.

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

Beit Hanun (Erez) is) open for the passage of critical patients, journalists, NGO staff, businessmen and passengers travelling abroad through Al-Karama crossing with previous coordination.

Attack

At 14:00, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents in the vicinity of Beit Hanun (Erez) Crossing point as they were participating in demonstration protesting against the continues Israeli Military and settler assault on Al-Aqsa mosque compound and as a result injured a resident.

GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

• Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
• Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.

Attack

At 15:30, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line fired live ammunition stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents located in the vicinity of Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing in east Gaza fired tear gas grenades towards several residents in North Beit Lahiya Jabaliya as they were protesting the Israeli Military and settler assault on Al-Aqsa mosque compound and as a result injured a resident.

Detention

At 13:00, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line detained 4 unidentified residents as they attempted to climb the border fence from Gaza to Israel.

CENTRAL GAZA

Attack

(i) At 13:00, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Al-Buriej camp.
(ii) At 14:00, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards several residents in east Al-Buriej camp as they were protesting against Israeli assault on Al-Aqsa mosque compound and against Palestinian citizens and as a result injured 4 residents as well as leaving several others suffocated from tear gas inhalation.

RAFAH

Attack

At 13:30, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards several residents in east Al-Farahin area located in east Abbasan Al-Kabira as they were protesting against Israeli assault on Al-Aqsa mosque compound and against Palestinian citizens.
