Daily Report February 09, 2016

WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure
  1. On February 8th 2016, the Israeli army, intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers under the age of 50 from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
  2. The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
  3. The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.
Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
  2. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint. 
Military Checkpoints
  1. Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
  2. On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu ‘fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall.
  3. At 14:30, Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Jaba’ checkpoint located along the main road connecting Jerusalem, Ramallah and Jericho and impeded the free flow of traffic.
Raid
  1. At dawn on February 8th 2016, Israeli forces raided Kafr Aqab village, clashed with several residents as they stormed a home and detained a resident.
  2. At 12:50, Israeli forces raided Al-Eizariya then stormed and searched “Al-Saraya Pool Resort”.
  3. On February 8th 2016, Israeli forces raided Al-Eisawiya village and served military orders for the demolition of 12 Apartment buildings {consisting of 30 Apartments}.
Detention
  1. At 11:30, Israeli forces detained Nahmoud Hassan Khalaf (17 years old){A resident of Al-Eizariya} as he was reporting to Israeli Intelligence for questioning based on a prior summon.
  2. At 18:00, Israeli forces positioned in Bab Al-Amoud area in Jerusalem city detained Marceil Al-Salaymeh for allegedly finding a knife in his possession.
  3. Israeli forces detained Atef Rajab Yusef Amtir in Kafr Aqab village.
Assaults on Property
  • At 19:00, Israeli forces closed down several merchant shops in the old city of Jerusalem in order to allow several Israeli settlers to protest in the area.
Obstruction of Places of Worship
  • At 11:50, a group of Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli Military and Police forces stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem and provoked worshipers.
Closure of Wall Gates
  1. The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
  2. The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Slewahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem IDs to cross, after subjecting them to thorough searches using electronic devices.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages
  2. On December 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed the West entrance of Al-Labban Al-Gharbi village with cement blocks.
  3. On January 27th 2016, Israeli forces closed Beit Ur Al-Tahta village junction which leads to road (443) with cement blocks.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 08:30 and again at 14:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Sinjil then searched residents and vehicles until 15:00.
  2. At 09:10, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Beit Sira village then searched residents and vehicles until 10:00.
  3. At 10:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Ein Sinya village roundabout then searched residents and vehicles.
  4. At 16:25, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Atarah village bridge then searched residents and vehicles.
Raid
  1. At dawn on February 8th 2016, Israeli forces raided Kafr Ein village then stormed and searched 7 homes.
  2. At 09:50, Israeli forces raided Al-Tireh village in Ramallah and stormed a school and sent a warning to the school administration against continued stone throwing by students.
Detention
  • At 14:00, Israeli forces positioned beneath Beit Sira village bridge detained 2 children: Abdel-Aziz Mustafa Al-Haj (15 years old) and Odah Suliman Al-Haj (15 years old).

JENIN

Closure (per District)
  • On December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area  {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area  and declared the area a closed military zone.

  2. At 03:50, Israeli forces raided Qabatiya and clashed with several residents.
Detention
  • Israeli forces detained Mohammad Fadel Abbas Abu Issa in Qabatiya.
Closure of Wall Gates
  • Israeli forces continue too close the wall gate and only allow those holding special permits to enter through it.

TUBAS

Raid
  • At 01:50, Israeli forces raided Tammun village and detained a resident after storming his home.

TULKAREM

Military Checkpoints
  • At 09:20, Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at “Eniv” checkpoint located along the main road connecting Tulkarem and Nablus and impeded the free flow of traffic.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 19:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Quffin village junction then searched residents and vehicles until 21:30.
  2. At 20:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Nazlah Al-Gharbiya village then searched residents and vehicles until 21:30.
Raid
  1. At 07:35 on February 8th 2016 and again at 03:20 on February 9th 2016, Israeli forces raided Seida village, stormed several homes detained a resident then withdrew at 05:40.
  2. At 18:20, Israeli forces raided Tulkarem, stormed and searched a vehicle repair Garage and a spare parts shop   then withdrew at 20:05.
  3. At 19:00, Israeli forces raided Zeita, clashed with several residents and temporarily detained the child: Munthir Abdel-Raziq Abu Sharqiya (14 years old) then released him after assaulting him.
  4. At 02:50, Israeli forces raided Tulkarem and Tulkarem camp, detained a Civil Defences forces Officer, stormed and searched a health Clinic in the camp then withdrew at 04:45.
Detention
  1. At 01:40 on February 8th 2016, Israeli forces detained 2 residents: Ismail Yusef Mohammad Othman and Abdel-Rahman Issa Mohammad Assbah during their raid into Tulkarem camp in addition to those mentioned in the previous report.
  2. Israeli forces detained Mustafa Abdel-Rahman Mohammad Abdel-Qadder in Tulkarem camp.
  3. Israeli forces detained Shadwan Ameen Mustafa Ashqar in Seida village

QALQILIYA

Closure of Roads
  1. In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
  2. Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 08:00 and again at 19:10, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Azzun village then searched residents and vehicles until 20:30.
  2. At 10:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Azzun Atma village then searched residents and vehicles.
  3. At 13:50 and again at 21:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint beneath Azzun bridge located along the main road connecting Qalqiliya and Tulkarem then searched residents and vehicles until 22:10.
  4. At 14:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Jit village junction then searched residents and vehicles.
  5. At 21:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Izbit Al-Tabib village then searched residents and vehicles until 23:00.
Raid
  • At 01:25, Israeli forces raided Qalqiliya, stormed and searched several homes, detained 2 residents and confiscated a computer and a Cellular telephone then withdrew at 03:40.
Detention
  • Israeli forces detained Adel Al-Ghazawi and Faris Abdel-Raheem Mohammad Abu Zaban in Qalqiliya.
Closure of Wall Gates
  1. The Israeli army continues to restrict access at ‘Azzun ‘Atma Wall gate and impeded the free flow of traffic. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the entrance to the village of Wadi Al- Rasha and to deny civilian access.
  2. The Israeli army allows residents to access the village through Gate #109. Having removed the gate at the entrance to the village of Ras Atiya; the Israeli army only allows students to cross to their schools outside the village through the Habla gate.

NABLUS

Closure
  • Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area.
Closure of main Roads
  1. At 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds.
  2. On November 29th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Burin, Awarta and Osirin as well as the agricultural bypass road connecting Aqraba and Qabalan village with dirt mounds.
  3. At 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area.
  4. At 18:30 on January 19th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Huwara and Walada village with dirt mounds.
  5. At 09:00 on February 1st 2016, Israeli forces closed the steel gate {south} entrance of Jamma’in village and closed the main road connecting.
Military Checkpoints
  1. At 08:20, Israeli forces closed Huwara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic for vehicles travelling from Nablus and reopened it at 09:00 and at 17:00 intensified their restrictions at the checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 14:55, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Burin village junction then searched residents and vehicles until 16:00.
  2. At 19:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near “Shav Shomron” settlement then searched residents and vehicles until 20:10.
Raid
  • At 15:00, Israeli forces raided Beita and served military orders for the demolition of 15 Merchant shops located in the main commercial centre in the city for the purpose of constructing a road.
Attack
  • At 17:15, Israeli forces positioned near Qussin village opened fire in the area.
Settlers Violence
  • At 15:00, 3 Israeli settlers from “Gilad” settlement chased away Omar Ahmad Yamin (A resident of Tel village) as he was herding his sheep near Tel village.

SALFIT

Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the entrance to two detour roads connecting Marda village to its farmland.
  2. Since 11:00 on July 30th 2012, Israeli forces have closed two roads leading to Abu Nasar and Qatan Al-Jama’ located in western area of Deir Istiya with cement blocks.
Military Checkpoints
  • Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Za’tara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 13:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Qarwat Bani Hassan village then searched residents and vehicles until 14:30.
Raid
  1. At 10:30, Israeli forces raided Bidya until 11:00.
  2. At 02:30, Israeli forces raided Salfit until 03:50.

JERICHO

Military Checkpoints
  • Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 08:25 and again at 10:05, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the south entrance of Jericho then searched residents and vehicles until 15:50.
  2. At 09:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at road (90) junction near An Nuweima village located at the North entrance of Jericho then searched residents and vehicle until 10:45.
Physical Assault
  • At 20:45, Israeli forces positioned at Allenby bridge assaulted Imad Al-Din Gharouf (A truck Driver) and as a result left him hospitalised with contusions.

BETHLEHEM

Closure
  1. The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
  2. Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities.
Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala  ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to  Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds.
  2. The Israeli army continues to close the road leading to “Newe Daniyyel” settlement and agricultural land in Al-Khader; a road between  Um Tuba and Wadi Al-Hums: Wadi Fukin, Al-Jaba, the Green Line; a road between Za’tara and a detour road, and a road between Taqou and Khirbet Al-Deir with cement blocks.
  3. Since August 2nd 2012, Israeli forces closed a road leading to Beit Jalla.
  4. Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires.
  5. Since 10:45 on September 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the agricultural road located in Arab Al-Rashaydeh village located near “Malee Amous” settlement with dirt mounds.
  6. At 13:45 on January 17th 2016, Israeli forces closed the south entrance of Nihalin village with a steel gate.
  7. At 20:00 on January 18th 2016, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Jinata with earth mounds.
Raid
  1. At 09:35, Israeli forces raided Hussan village until 11:00.
  2. At 02:25, Israeli forces raided Beit Fajjar, summoned 2 residents including a child: Ayed Mohammad Fayez Taqatqa (17 years old) and Fadi Sayel Taqatqa to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning then withdrew at 04:45.  
Detention
  1. At 08:45, Israeli forces positioned near Al-Khader detained the child Mujahid Yassin Da’dou’ (15 years old) {A resident of Al-Khader}.
  2. At 19:50, Israeli forces detained Amar Sami Mahmoud Al-Hajajrah (A resident of Ad Duheisha camp) as he was reporting to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.

HEBRON

Closure
  1. The Israeli army continues to close Al-Shuhada’ Street, Al-Sahleh and Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighbourhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed.
  2. Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.
Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City.
  2. The Israeli army continues to close all roads leading to Road # 60 as well as detour roads along the settler bypass road leading to Yatta town.
  3. The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds a detour road leading to e to Al-Simiya village, the southern entrance of Al-Samou’ and the entrance of Beit Annun with cement blocks.
  4. On December 9th 2015, Israeli forces closed a road near Jabal Jallis area located in the old city of Hebron and closed the bypass road.
Raid
  1. At 10:00, Israeli forces raided Ithna and summoned Harith Awad to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.
  2. At 12:50, Israeli forces raided Deir Sammit village.
  3. At 13:05, Israeli forces raided Khirbeit Al-Mijaz village located in south east Yatta and served military orders for the demolition of 6 homes owned by: Mohammad Ali Abu Aram, Talib Mohammad Abu Aram, Khaled Hussein Abu Aram, Mohammad Issa Abu Aram , Mohammad Musa Abu Aram and Saledm Musa Abu Aram.
Detention
  • At 02:40 on February 8th 2016, Israeli forces detained Hatem Ahmad Al-Suweiti during their raid into Beit Awwa in addition to those mentioned in the previous report.
GAZA STRIP

ALL DISTRICTS

  • At 19:00 on August 26th 2014, Palestinian Gunmen and the Israeli military agreed to a cease fire agreement (brokered by the Arab Republic of Egypt) which includes the opening of border crossings to allow the entry of emergency supplies and humanitarian goods as well as construction material and agreed to increase the fishing limit to 6 nautical miles with possibility of increase to 12 nautical miles by the end of the year and to decrease the Military area to 100 meters, allow freedom of movement and a halt to targeted killings and assassinations and negotiations will be held for discussion on rebuilding the sea port and airports in the coming month.
  • The Israeli Military broke the ceasefire agreement by opening fire from their positions behind the Green Line towards North Gaza and Central Gaza.
  • Israeli Naval Vessels broke the cease fire agreement by opening fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of North Gaza and Central Gaza.

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points
  • Beit Hanun (Erez) is open for the passage of critical patients, journalists, NGO staff, businessmen and passengers travelling abroad through Al-Karama crossing with previous coordination.
Attack
  1. At 08:30, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Al-Sudaniya area located in west Beit Lahiya.
  2. At 22:00, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in North Beit Lahiya.

GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points
  1. Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
  2. Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.

CENTRAL GAZA

Attack
  1. At 09:30, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in East Al-Buriej camp.
  2. At 21:30, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Deir Al-Balah.

RAFAH

Closure of Crossing Points
  1. Yasser ‘Arafat International Airport remains closed.
  2. Rafah (Al ‘Awdah) Crossing is closed
  3. Sufa Crossing is closed
  4. Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing is open for the entry of tourist and foreign diplomats and the entry of Humanitarian assistance and construction material funded by UNRWA.
