Daily Report April 14th 2016

WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure (per District)

(i) On April 13th 2016, the Israeli army, intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
(iii) The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint.

Military Checkpoints

(i) Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
(ii) On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu ‘fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall

Raid

(i) At 01:30, Israeli forces raided Al-Eisawiya village, stormed several homes and detained a resident.
(ii) At 02:00, Israeli forces raided Qalandiya camp, clashed with several residents as they stormed and searched several homes and detained a resident

Detention

(i) At 15:30, Israeli forces detained Ibrahim Mahmoud Hussien Amerah in Sur Bahir village.
(ii) At 02:00, Israeli forces detained 9 residents: Ali Mohammad Sarour, Yasser Abu Ghazaleh, Mohammad Amin Yassin, Nabil Al-Sharif, Musa Al-Tamimi, Mathqal Al-Qaq, Salah Al-Qara’in, Sa’ed Awad Sumrein and Omar Sumrien.
(iii) Israeli forces detained Akram Al-Sharafa in Al-Eisawiya village.
(iv) Israeli forces detained Mu’taz Zahran in Qalandiya camp.

Deportation

At 14:30, Israeli Military courts ruled in favor of expelling 2 residents: Mohammad Al-Shalabi and Ahmad Subieh from Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem for a period of 30 days {1 month} and put then under house arrest for 7 days.

Attack

At 23:00, Israeli forces positioned at the entrance of Hizma village fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

Settlers Violence

(i) At 11:30, Israeli settlers positioned in Al-Khan Al-Ahmar area placed a barbed wire fence around a plot of land in an attempt to confiscate it.
(ii) On April 14th 2016, a group of Israeli settlers assaulted Zuhier Daoud Abu Khdeir (63 years old) as she was in the Central Bus station in Jerusalem city and as a result left her hospitalized with contusions.

Obstruction of Places of Worship

At 09:00, Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli Military and Police forces stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem and provoked worshipers.

Injuries

Israeli settlers assaulted Zuhier Daoud Abu Khdeir (63 years old) as she was in the Central Bus station in Jerusalem city and as a result left her hospitalised with contusions

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Slewahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem IDs to cross, after subjecting them to thorough searches using electronic devices.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages
(ii) At 24:00 on February 14th 2016, closed the main road near the entrance of “Bet El” settlement which leads to Al-Jalazoun camp with cement blocks for alleged gunfire.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 18:10, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Atarah bridge then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 18:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Khirnithat Al-Misbah village then searched residents and vehicles until 21:15.

Raid

(i) At 03:00 on April 13th 2016, Israeli forces raided Beit Ur At tahta village and detained 2 residents.
(ii) At 21:00, Israeli forces raided Ein Sinya village and detained a resident.
(iii) At 24:00, Israeli forces raided Ramallah and Al-Bireh cities and Beituniya town, clashed with several residents as the stormed and searched Al-Ajouli Currancy exchange company and confiscated several office supplies and also detonated a “Safe Box” and as a result set fire to which caused a fire to spread from the building and to a Spices shop and several other fruit and vegetable carts in the main merchant area in Ramallah city then withdrew at 04:55.
(iv) At 01:30, Israeli forces raided Kafr Ni’meh village.
(v) At 06:30, Israeli forces raided Beit Liqya town then stormed and searched 2 homes.

Attack

Israeli forces clashed with several residents as the stormed and searched Al-Ajouli Currancy exchange company in Al-Bireh city.

Detention

(i) On April 13th 2016, Israeli forces detained Ghazi Al-Ajouli {owner of Al-Ajouli Currency Exchange Company} as he was reporting to Israeli Intelligence for questioning based on a prior summon.
(ii) Israeli forces detained Oday Mohammad Omar Suliman and Fadil Salah Amar in Beit Ur At Tahta.
(iii) Israeli forces detained Othman Araf Thaher in Ein Sinya village.

Injuries

At 02:10, Zakiya Yahya Mutier (A resident of Qalandiya camp) was hospitalised after Israeli forces opened fire towards him near Rafat village

JENIN

Closure (per District)

On December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area and declared the area a closed military zone.

Closure of Roads

The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the road leading to the town of ‘Arraba east of the illegal settlement Dotan.

Flying Checkpoints

At 14:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Kafr Qad village then searched residents and vehicles

Raid

(i) At 11:25, Israeli forces raided A’nza and Sanour villages.
(ii) At 12:00, Israeli forces raided Jaba’ town, clashed with several residents , fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several school children and as a result left them suffocated from tear gas inhalation then withdrew at 14:40.
(iii) At 06:45, Israeli forces raided Barta’ Al-Sharqiya village, clashed with several residents as they stormed a coal store owned by Bassem Fathi and Wajih Amarnah and also demolished a storage den owned by Mustafa Khader Qubha.

Attack

Israeli forces clashed with several residents in Barta’ Al-Sharqiya village and Jaba’ town.

Closure of Wall Gates

Israeli forces continue to close the wall gate and only allow those holding special permits to enter through it.

TUBAS

Closure of main Roads

Since12:30 on March 15th 2016, Israeli forces closed the east entrance of Al-Aqaba village with cement blocks.

Raid

At 06:50 Israeli forces raided Tubas city and detained a resident.

Detention

Israeli forces detained Adham Atef Mustafa Daraghmeh in Tubas city

TULKAREM

Military Checkpoints

At 21:15, Israeli forces continue to intensify their restrictions at “Eniv” checkpoint located along the main road connecting Tulkarem and Nablus and impeded the free flow of traffic until 23:10.

Raid

(i) At 14:45, Israeli forces raided Beit Lid town.
(ii) At 21:10, Israeli forces raided Bal’a town.

QALQILIYA

Closure of Roads

(i) Israeli forces continue to close with cement blocks agricultural roads east of Azzun town.
(ii) In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
(iii) Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 09:45, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Azzun town then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 09:45, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Jit village junction then searched residents and vehicles.
(iii) At 11:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area between Azzun and Kafr Thulth then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

(i) At 23:35, Israeli forces raided Jit village until 00:30.
(ii) At 03:00, Israeli forces raided Azzun , stormed and searched 4 homes, detained a resident and temporarily detained Majdi Ahmad Suwidan and released him at a later time then withdrew at 04:45.
(iii). At 03:10, Israeli forces raided Qalqiliya city until 04:45.

Detention

Israeli forces detained Jihad Jallal Anaya in Azzun

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to restrict access at ‘Azzun ‘Atma Wall gate and impeded the free flow of traffic. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the entrance to the village of Wadi Al- Rasha and to deny civilian access.
(ii) The Israeli army allows residents to access the village through Gate #109. Having removed the gate at the entrance to the village of Ras Atiya; the Israeli army only allows students to cross to their schools outside the village through the Habla gate.

SALFIT

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the entrance to two detour roads connecting Marda village to its farmland.
(ii) Since 11:00 on July 30th 2012, Israeli forces have closed two roads leading to Abu Nasar and Qatan Al-Jama’ located in western area of Deir Istiya with cement blocks.

Military Checkpoints

Israeli forces continue to intensify their restrictions at Za’tara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic.

Temporary Detention

At 18:00, Israeli forces positioned near Za’tara checkpoint temporarily detained Yusef Abdel-Rahman Wadah Al-Sharouti (A resident of Iraq-AlTaya village in Nablus district) then released him at a later time.

NABLUS

Closure (per District)

Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the northern entrance to Qabalan town; the southern entrances to the town of Jamma’in and the villages of Duma and Qaryut.
(ii) Since 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds.
(iii) Since 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area.
(iv) Since 18:30 on January 19th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Huwara and Walada village with dirt mounds.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 10:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near “Yitzhar” settlement junction located in North Huwara then searched residents and vehicles until 11:30.
(ii) At 11:05, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Sarah village junction located along the main road connecting Nablus and Qalqiliya then searched residents and vehicles until 13:30.

Raid

(i) At 01:30, Israeli forces raided Zuwata village, stormed and searched a home then withdrew at 03:40.
(ii) At 03:45, Israeli forces raided Nablus city and Balata camp, stormed several homes, detained 3 residents including a National Security Force officer and temporarily detained Mohammad Khaled Khadish then released him at a later time

Detention

Israeli forces detained 3 residents: Mohammad Murshid Al-Terawi, Ahmad Khaled Mohammad Ja’arim and Anas Hadi Hamdi in Balata camp in Nablus city.

Destruction of Property

At 14:40, Israeli forces stormed the area located between Qusra village and “Ayash Qadush” settlement and forced Foad Yusef Hassan to remove a steel fence from around a plot of land he owned.

Assaults on Property

At 09:20, Israeli forces stormed Awarta village and set fire to Palestinian flags in front of several residents who were travelling in the area.

Settlers Attacks

(i) At 11:15, a group of Israeli settlers stormed Khirbeit Tana village and stole a horse owned by Mansour Manasrah during which Israeli forces in coordination with Palestinian Security forces were able to retrieve the horse.
(ii) At 16:10, Israeli settlers positioned near Yatma village entrance stoned vehicles and residents passing near the entrance.

JERICHO

Military Checkpoints

Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District.

Raid

At 02:45, Israeli forces raided Jericho city until 03:00.

BETHLEHEM

Closure of District

(i) The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
(ii) Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities.

Closure of Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds.
(ii) Since 10:45 on September 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the agricultural road located in Arab Al-Rashaydeh village located near “Malee Amous” settlement with dirt mounds.
(iii) Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires.
(iv) At 09:15 on February 16th 2016, Israeli forces closed the bypass road connecting Za’tara and Ush Al-Ghurab area located in east Beit Sahur town with dirt mounds.
(v) On February 25th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main entrance gate leading to Um Al-Rakaba area in Al-Khader.
(vi) At 22:40 on March 17th 2016, Israeli forces closed all entrances of Beit Fajjar town and prevented residents from entering or exiting the town.
(vii) At 12:25 on March 18th 2016, Israeli forces closed the north entrance of Marah Rabah village which leads to Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds.

Flying Checkpoints

At 10:10 and again at 20:55, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the west entrance of Teqou’ town then searched residents and vehicles until 21:30.

Raid

(i) At 14:55, Israeli forces raided Al-Obidiya town.
(ii) At 23:50, Israeli forces raided Nihalin village, clashed with several residents then withdrew at 00:30.
(iii) At 24:00, Israeli forces raided Husan village until 00:30.

Temporary Detention

اAt 10:10, Israeli forces positioned at checkpoint (300) located in North Bethlehem detained the child Nuran Ahmad Al-Balboul and temporarily detained Bassima Khalil Al-Balboul for allegedly finding a knife in her possession {as alleged by the Israeli Military}.

HEBRON

Closure (per District)

(i) The Israeli army continues to close Al-Shuhada’ Street, Al-Sahleh and Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighbourhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed.
(ii) Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.

Closure of Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the bypass road connecting Bani Na’im and Zif village junction with dirt mounds.
(iii) The Israeli Army continues to close the entrance of Beit Ummar (located near the local Cemetery) with dirt mounds.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 10:55, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the North entrance of Hebron along bypass road (35) near Halhoul town bridge then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 19:25, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Arob camp , temporarily detained several residents then released them after questioning by Israeli Intelligence officers.

Raid

At 01:35, Israeli forces raided Dura, detained 3 residents then withdrew at 04:35.

Detention

Israeli forces detained 3 residents: Ahmad Izhaq Abu Hash-Hash, Jamal Hussien Al-Awawda and Mustafa Ismail Al-Safi in Dura town.

Temporary Detention

At 15:20, Israeli forces positioned at the entrance of Al-Aroub camp temporarily detained Ali Iz Al-Din Jawabrah (A Presidential Guard) then released him at a later time.

Settlers Attacks

(i) At 09:45, a group of Israeli settlers from “Kromi Tsur” settlement stormed Arnaba, Ein Al-Bayda and Kasbar area’s in Hahoul town then withdrew at a later time.
(ii) At 17:00, a group of Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli forces stormed Al-Safa area in Halhoul town and took photographs of the area then withdrew at a later time.

GAZA STRIP

ALL DISTRICTS

• At 19:00 on August 26th 2014, Palestinian Gunmen and the Israeli military agreed to a cease fire agreement (brokered by the Arab Republic of Egypt) which includes the opening of border crossings to allow the entry of emergency supplies and humanitarian goods as well as construction material and agreed to increase the fishing limit to 6 nautical miles with possibility of increase to 12 nautical miles by the end of the year and to decrease the Military area to 100 meters, allow freedom of movement and a halt to targeted killings and assassinations and negotiations will be held for discussion on rebuilding the sea port and airports in the coming month.

• Israeli forces broke the ceasefire agreement by opening fire from their positions behind the Green Line towards Central Gaza.

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

Beit Hanun (Erez) is open for the passage of critical patients, journalists, NGO staff, businesspersons and passengers travelling abroad through Al-Karama crossing with previous coordination.

GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

(i) Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
(ii) Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.

CENTRAL GAZA

Attack

At 12:00, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Al-Buriej camp.

RAFAH

Closure of Crossing Points

(i) Yasser ‘Arafat International Airport remains closed.
(ii) Rafah (Al ‘Awdah) Crossing is closed
(iii) Sufa Crossing is closed
(iv) Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing is open for the entry Humanitarian assistance.
