WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure
  • On March 31st  2016, the Israeli army, intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
  • The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
  • The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.
Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
  • The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint. 
Military Checkpoints
  • Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
  • On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu ‘fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 16:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Hizma village then searched residents and vehicles.
Raid
  • At 04:00, Israeli forces raided Al-Eizariya and Abu Dis towns until 04:40.
Attack
  • At 14:20, Israeli forces positioned in Suwih area in Silwan neighbourhood in Jerusalem city fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several school children for alleged stoning.
  • At 21:10, Israeli forces positioned in Al-Jabal area located in Abu Dis town fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
Deportation
  • On March 31st 2016, Israeli forces stormed Jerusalem city and served a military order for the expulsion of Ahmad Rakan from Jerusalem city for a period of 4 months
Obstruction of Places of Worship
  • At 10:00, Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli Military and Police forces stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem and provoked worshipers.
Closure of Wall Gates
  • The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
  • The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Slewahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem IDs to cross, after subjecting them to thorough searches using electronic devices.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages.
  • At 24:00 on February 14th 2016, closed the main road near the entrance of “Bet El” settlement which leads to Al-Jalazoun camp with cement blocks for alleged gunfire.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 17:35, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint beneath Yabroud village bridge then searched residents and vehicles.
  • At 07:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Silwad town then searched residents and vehicles.
Raid
  • At 01:45, Israeli forces raided Bir Ziet town, stormed a home, summoned Imad Shareef Abu Awad to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning then withdrew at 04:35.
  • At dawn on April 1st 2016, Israeli forces raided Beituniya town.
Detention
  • At 02:25 on March 31st 2016, Israeli forces detained Sameh Khamis Abu Falah during their raid into Ramallah and Al-Bireh cities in addition to those mentioned in the previous report.
  • At 12:30, Israeli forces detained Saqer Waleed Assi (A resident of Beit Liqya).
Attack
  • At 16:00, Israeli forces positioned in the vicinity of “Pesagout” settlement located in east Al-Bireh city fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

JENIN

Closure
  • On December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area  {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area  and declared the area a closed military zone.
Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the road leading to the town of ‘Arraba east of the illegal settlement Dotan.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 13:55, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Arabba town junction then searched residents and vehicles.
Confiscation of Property
  • At 04:00 on March 31st 2016, Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Adham Khaled Ameen Badarnah during their raid into Ya’bad as mentioned in the previous report.
Settlers Violence
  • On the evening of March 31st 2016, a group of Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli Military forces stormed agricultural land in Al-Tel area in Ti’inik village and then provoked and insulted several residents in the area.
  • On the evening of March 31st 2016, a group of Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli Military forces stormed agricultural land in Sahel area located in Sahel area in Um Al-Tout village  during which Israeli forces opened fire towards several homes in the area.
Closure of Wall Gates
  • Israeli forces continue to close the wall gate and only allow those holding special permits to enter through it.

TUBAS

Closure of Roads
  • At 12:30 on March 15th 2016, Israeli forces closed the east entrance of Al-Aqaba village with cement blocks.

TULKAREM

Military Checkpoints
  • At 15:45 and again at 19:55, Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at “Eniv” checkpoint located along the main road connecting Tulkarem and Nablus and impeded the free flow of traffic until 24:00.
Assaults on Property
  • At 13:30, Israeli forces stormed Izbit Shufa village and placed a 50 m barbed wire fence around a plot of land owned by Qaher Abdel-Qadder Hammad.

QALQILIYA

Closure of Roads
  • Israeli forces continue to close with cement blocks agricultural roads east of Azzun town.
  • In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
  • Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 17:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Qalqiliya city then searched residents and vehicles.
  • At 18:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Jit village junction and impeded the free flow of traffic.
Closure of Wall Gates
  • The Israeli army continues to restrict access at ‘Azzun ‘Atma Wall gate and impeded the free flow of traffic. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the entrance to the village of Wadi Al- Rasha and to deny civilian access.
  • The Israeli army allows residents to access the village through Gate #109. Having removed the gate at the entrance to the village of Ras Atiya; the Israeli army only allows students to cross to their schools outside the village through the Habla gate.

NABLUS

Closure
  • Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area.
Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close the northern entrance to Qabalan town; the southern entrances to the town of Jamma’in and the villages of Duma and Qaryut.
  • Since 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds.
  • Since 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area.
  • Since 18:30 on January 19th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Huwara and Walada village with dirt mounds.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 13:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint along the main road in Huwara town then searched residents and vehicles until 14:00.
  • At 16:05, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Burin village and prevented residents from entering or exiting the area.
Raid
  • At 16:05, Israeli forces raided Huwara town and closed down several merchant shops for alleged stoning incident towards Israeli settler vehicles.
  • At 20:00, Israeli forces raided Rujieb village, stormed a home and detained 2 residents.
  • At 04:00, Israeli forces raided Nablus city and Kafr Kalil village, stormed a home in Nablus then withdrew at 04:55.
Detention
  • At 01:10, Israeli forces detained Amer Rida Thaher Halabi and Maher Hillal Ibrahim Shareem in Rujieb village.
Settlers Violence
  • At 01:10, Israeli settlers riding in vehicles stormed Nablus and attempted to enter Joseph’s tomb but were chased away by Palestinian Police forces guarding the area.

SALFIT

Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the entrance to two detour roads connecting Marda village to its farmland.
  • Since 11:00 on July 30th 2012, Israeli forces have closed two roads leading to Abu Nasar and Qatan Al-Jama’ located in western area of Deir Istiya with cement blocks.
Military Checkpoints
  • At 11:30, Israeli forces continue to intensify their restrictions at Za’tara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic.
Raid
  • At 19:45, Israeli forces raided Kafil Harris town and Harris village until 21:00.
Detention
  • On March 30th 2016, Israeli forces positioned at Za’tara checkpoint junction detained Saalamah Saleem Az’ar (A resident of Qabalan town in Nablus District).
  • On March 31st 2016, Israeli forces positioned at Za’tara checkpoint junction detained Nour Mohammad Jaber Hamarsha (A resident of Ya’bad town in Jenin District).
  • At 15:35, Israeli forces positioned near Harris village junction detained Mohammad Ali (A resident of Al-Mizra’a Al-Sharqiya  town in Ramallah &Al-Bireh district).

JERICHO

Military Checkpoints
  • Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District.
Temporary Detention
  • At 20:40, Israeli forces positioned at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District temporally detained Aysar Ahmad Shihadeh Sawafta (A resident of Tubas city) then released him at a later time.

BETHLEHEM

Closure

(i) The Israeli army continues to close Al-Shuhada’ Street, Al-Sahleh and Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighborhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed. (ii) Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.

(i) The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City. (ii) The Israeli army continues to close the bypass road connecting Bani Na’im and Zif village junction with dirt mounds. (iii) The Israeli Army continues to close the entrance of Beit Ummar (located near the local Cemetery) with dirt mounds.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 09:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Aroub camp then searched residents and vehicles. (ii) At 16:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Zif village junction then searched residents and vehicles. (iii) At 21:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in Wadi area located in east Sa’ir town then searched residents and vehicles.

Israeli forces detained Sameh Makharza in Al-Thahriya town .

HEBRON

GAZA STRIP

ALL DISTRICTS

  • At 19:00 on August 26th 2014, Palestinian Gunmen and the Israeli military agreed to a cease fire agreement (brokered by the Arab Republic of Egypt) which includes the opening of border crossings to allow the entry of emergency supplies and humanitarian goods as well as construction material and agreed to increase the fishing limit to 6 nautical miles with possibility of  increase to 12 nautical miles by the end of the year and to decrease the Military area to 100 meters, allow freedom of movement and a halt to targeted killings and assassinations and negotiations will be held for discussion on rebuilding the sea port and airports in the coming month.
  • Israeli forces broke the cease fire agreement by opening raiding and  opening fire toward Khan Yunis.
  • Israeli Naval vessels broke the cease fire agreement by opening fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of North Gaza.

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points
  • Beit Hanun (Erez) is open for the passage of critical patients, journalists, NGO staff, businesspersons and passengers travelling abroad through Al-Karama crossing with previous coordination.
Attack

GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points
  • Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
  • Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.

KHAN YUNIS

Raid
  • At 09:15, Israeli forces escorting several military bulldozers stormed 150 m into the vicinity of east Al-Fakhary town, levelled a plot of land then withdrew at 11:30.
Attack
  • At 08:00, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Al-Fakhari town.
  • At 12:00, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Al-Qarara town.
  • At 14:10, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Khaz’aa town.

RAFAH

Closure of Crossing Points
  • Yasser ‘Arafat International Airport remains closed.
  • Rafah (Al ‘Awdah) Crossing is closed
  • Sufa Crossing is closed
  • Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing is open for the entry of tourist and foreign diplomats and the entry of Humanitarian assistance and construction material funded by UNRWA.
