PLO Secretary General on the Israeli raid against Dr. Mustafa Barghouthi’s Office

We condemn in the strongest terms the Israeli raid conducted last night against the offices of Health, Development Information and Policy Institute, founded Dr. Mustafa Barghouthi, Secretary General of the Palestine National Initiative – Al Moubadara, in Downtown Ramallah. Israeli Forces stole servers as well as computers, cameras and folders with information. Dr. Barghouthi is a distinguished national leader, member of our parliament and of the PLO Central Council and one of the main advocates in Palestine for the non-violent resistance against the Israeli occupation. This new Israeli aggression, in contravention of signed agreements, was part of 22 military raids conducted by occupation forces over the past 24 hours in Palestinian cities. 

Israel has targeted a political leader involved in non-violent resistance against its illegal occupation. This shows how the Israeli government has stepped up its efforts against peaceful resistance. The international community must send a strong message of support to popular resistance against the Israeli occupation by taking concrete actions against the daily Israeli aggressions against our people, settlement expansion and home demolitions.
