Dr. Saeb Erekat on Israel's Plan to Attack Palestinian Protestors on Land Day

The Israeli government has been preparing the ground for attacks against disarmed Palestinian civilians protesting during Palestine Land Day.  This has so far resulted in the killing of Palestinian farmer Omar Smoor by Israeli artillery fire in Gaza early this morning.  Israel’s official incitement against the rights and lives of the Palestinian people has little to do with Israel’s security and a lot to do with perpetuating control over our lives by attacking every non-violent action against Israel's systematic denial of our inalienable rights.
 
Israel continues to violate its obligations under the international humanitarian law by asserting that it's the victim of the people it occupies to justify further crimes and violations.  This brutality demands the international community to fulfill its responsibilities and to hold Israel accountable for violating Palestinian human rights. The Palestinian people have the right to demonstrate against the Israeli occupation towards the fulfillment of our rights in accordance with international law.
