“It’s shocking! While our abductees are being held in terror tunnels in subhuman conditions, Hezbollah is firing missiles non-stop at the north, and everyday attacks are carried out against Jews by Palestinians[2] in Judea and Samaria, Yuli Novak, CEO of B’Tselem at the UN Security Council to brief them during a discussion of the abductees’ issue. She ignored the abductees who are still held in Gaza and chose to spread lies and divert the debate away from the abductees’ plight. I never understood how Jews collaborated with the Nazis. But, it seems that even today, some choose to side with bloodthirsty terrorists. Yuli Novak briefed the Council for five minutes while inciting against the State of Israel, spreading lies such as Israel's "ambition" to conquer Gaza, calling us an apartheid state and accusing us of war crimes. Yuli seems to have forgotten who chose to commit war crimes on Black Sabbath morning, raping women and murdering children in their beds. The State of Israel did not choose this war. Hamas is the only one who should bear the blame for everything that is happening in the Gaza Strip. We will do everything necessary to restore peace and security to the citizens, to return the kidnapped home and to ensure that atrocities like the October 7 never happen again.”

Had we left Judea and Samaria as many advisers suggested, what happened in the Gaza envelope would have occurred in the centre of the country and in much larger numbers; if there is one lesson from October 7, it prevents us from continuing to make concessions to enemies who have an appetite for killing. Concessions bring terror. Our strength lies in defending all parts of the country, not concessions leading to weakness.”

For this purpose, I initiated and enacted the Law on Powers to Protect IDF Bases last July, giving soldiers the authority to conduct searches and detain suspects illegally entering military base areas. The law also imposes responsibility on base commanders for guarding military equipment, such as weapons and ammunition, to prevent potential thefts that reach criminal and terrorist elements. We have practical tools to maintain national security, and the Ministry of Defense must implement them immediately. October 7 proved once again that we cannot trust anyone but ourselves. There are enough veterans and experts who can do the job - and there is no need for someone who wants to harm our soldiers from the inside.”
