According to local sources, the martyr was a resident of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, and lived with his family in Ramallah, and studied at Al-Istiqlal Military University.

Israeli Jews have been attempting to illegally take over the area in the past. The government approved its recognition as a legal town.
