MONTHLY SUMMARY OF ISRAELI VIOLATIONS

01 February 2021 – 28 February 2021

The following summary tables and overview of events survey hostile Israeli activities during the period 01 February 2021 to 28 February 2021. The report includes a summary table of events, classified by type, throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, in addition to a comparative table surveying events over the past three months. The survey is compiled from the Daily Situation Reports of the Palestinian Monitoring Group (PMG) of the Negotiations Affairs Department (NAD) of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The PMG monitors ground conditions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, including Israeli and Palestinian violations. The information reported through the PMG process represents data available at the time of distribution only. 

 

Sample of Israeli Violations during the Month of  February  2021

05/02/2021: a settler positioned in the Jabal al-Rayan area, on which the "Saddeh Ephraim" outpost was established located near the village of Ras Karkar, opened fire towards and killed Khaled Maher Saleh Nofal, 34 years old - resident of Ras Karkar village. 05/02/2021:  Wissam Yusef Akl {17 years old} after the Israeli occupation forces fired rubber coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards demonstrators near the village of Kafr Malik. 09/02/2021: the Israeli occupation forces fired live ammunition, metal-coated rubber-coated bullets, stun grenades and tear gas canisters towards citizens for alleged stoning as they stormed a number of houses, during their raid into Dehisce camp in Bethlehem and as a result wounded the child: Muhammad Mahmoud Ibrahim Shamarkha, 17 years old. 09/02/2021: the Israeli occupation forces fired stun and tear gas canisters towards several citizens for alleged stoning ', as they stormed and searched 2 homes during their raid into the town of Tuqu, and as a result wounded a child: Mahmoud Samih Sabah, 9 years old - as a result of being hit by a tear gas canister in the head. 12/02/2021: Bilal Shehadeh Bawatneh, {52 years old – a resident of Al-Bireh city in Ramallah governorate} was killed after he was run over by a settler while driving his vehicle between the intersection of the village of Ain Al-Bayda and the village of Bardala in the northern Jordan Valley. 12/02/2021: the Israeli occupation forces fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun grenades and tear gas towards citizens participating in a demonstration against the confiscation of land for settlement projects in the village of Beit Dajan and as a result wounded 3 citizens (including a child):  Abdullah Zahi Abdul Raouf Hanani, 16 years old, Luay Murad Nayef Hanaysha, and Imad Suleiman Ammari. and left several others suffocated due to tear gas inhalation. 12/02/2021:  the Israeli occupation forces fired rubber-coated metal bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards demonstrators in protest against the closure of eastern (closed) entrance in the village of Kafr Qaddum for alleged stoning and as a result wounded 8 citizens and left several others suffocated due to tear gas inhalation. 15/02/2021:  a 10-year-old boy was injured in Aqbat Jaber camp in Jericho, as a result of the explosion of a sound bomb left by the occupation forces, while he was tampering with it while he was near the cemetery area in the camp, which usually witnesses confrontations with the occupation forces and was hospitalized for treatment. 16/02/2021: the Israeli occupation forces in charge of guarding the separation wall near the village of Safa opened fire towards the 16-year-old child Ahmed Abdel-Razek Yaqoub as he was near the wall and as a result left him hospitalised. 17/02/2021: Rahma Khalil Abu Aahour, 67 died as a result of her heart attack due to intense fear and panic after Israeli occupation forces as they stormed and searched her brother's house during their raid into Janata town. 26/02/2021: Ahmad Bashar Shteiwi, 13 years old was wounded during clashes with the Israeli occupation forces near the eastern (closed) entrance in the village of Kafr Qaddum. 28/02/2021: Muhammad Hassan Abu Al-Hummus, 17 years old - resident of the city of Jerusalem was wounded in the face as a result of a settler attack in the French Hill area in Jerusalem.

Attacks	148	64	212	A total of 212 attacks were reported to have taken place during the month of February 2021 (148 in the West Bank and 64 in the Gaza Strip). The Israeli military carried out 41 attacks from Israeli military post on civilian homes and property, 95 from Military checkpoints towards Palestinian residents and vehicle and 53 during raids into Civilian populated areas. In addition, Israeli navy vessels carried out 41 attacks on Palestinian fishermen.
Raids	361	8	369	The Israeli military carried out a total of 369 raids in Palestinian residential areas during the month of February 2021, including 361in the West Bank and 8 in the Gaza Strip. The majority of Israeli military raids were reported to have taken place in the districts of Jerusalem (41); Ramallah (47); Jenin (69); Tubas (11); Tulkarem (23); Qalqiliya (17); Nablus (50); Salfit (14); Jericho (4); Bethlehem (40); Hebron (45), North Gaza (3), Gaza (1), Central Gaza (2) and Khan Yunis (2).
Arrests	440	1	441	During the month of February  2021, the Israeli military arrested 441 Palestinians (440 in the West Bank and 1 in the Gaza Strip). The majority of arrests took place in the districts of Jerusalem (128); Ramallah (66); Jenin (53); Tubas (12),Tulkarem (21); Qalqiliya (17); Nablus (44); Salfit (5); Jericho (3); Bethlehem (30); Hebron (61), and North Gaza (1). Among those arrested by the Israeli military were 35 children, 2 Woman,2 University students 1 Journalist and 1 Security Force Officers.
Deportation	17		17	During  the month of February 2021 Israeli Authorities deported 17 residents from their place of residence which included the following: 02/02/2021:  the Israeli occupation authorities in Jerusalem issued a decision to deport the citizen: Muhammad Suleiman Abu Subaih - residents of Jerusalem from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque for a week, as a condition for his release after he was arrested earlier. 02/02/2021: the Israeli occupation authorities in Jerusalem issued a decision to deport 2 citizens (from the Al-Aqsa Mosque guards): Samed Asali and Yazan Tafesh. from entering Al-Aqsa Mosque and the roads leading to it:t for a period of 3 months. 06/02/2021: the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued a decision to deport the citizen: Fatima Khader - a resident of the town of Beit Hanina, for a period of 6 months from Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City. 08/02/2021: the occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued a decision to deport the citizen: Mustafa Abu Zahra - Head of the Committee for the Care of Islamic Cemeteries in Jerusalem, for a period of 15 days from Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City of Jerusalem, as a condition for his release after they detained him earlier . 08/02/2021: , the occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued a decision to deport the citizen: Ahmed Al-Rishq and his brother Khaled - residents of the Shuafat camp in the city of Jerusalem, for a week from their place of residence in Shu'fat camp, and pay a financial guarantee of 1000 shekels on each of them and a party's guarantee Third, as a condition for their release after detaining them earlier. 09/02/2021: the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued decisions to deport 3 citizens: Ahmad Shwayyat, Majd Kabha, and Amir Abu Al-Atta {all are residents of the city of Jerusalem} for a week from Al-Aqsa Mosque, as a condition for their release after being detained earlier. 09/02/2021:  the Israeli occupation authorities in Jerusalem issued a decision to deport the citizen: Ammar Bakir (one of the guards of Al-Aqsa Mosque), for a week, from Al-Aqsa Mosque, as a condition for his release after being detained earlier. 12/02/2021: the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem issued a decision to deport the citizen: Waheed Shabana from his place of residence in the city of Jerusalem, to the governorates of the West Bank, under the pretext that he holds a West Bank ID card, although he has resided since his birth in the city of Jerusalem, as his wife lives And his sons in the city. 15/02/2021: the Israeli occupation authorities in Jerusalem issued a decision to deport the citizen: Nizam Abu Ramz - residents of the city of Jerusalem, for a period of 6 months from Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Gate. 21/02/2021: the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem imposed the deportation of the citizen: Khadija Khwais - residents of Al-Tur neighborhood in the city of Jerusalem, for a week from Al-Aqsa Mosque and its surroundings, as a condition for her release after she was detained earlier. 21/02/2021:  the occupation authorities in Jerusalem imposed the deportation of the citizen: Jamal Amr - a resident of the city of Jerusalem, for a period of 10 days from Al-Aqsa Mosque and its gates, as a condition for his release after detaining him earlier. 22/02/2021: the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem served a notice banning the citizen: Daniel Zuhair Abu Nasra - a resident of Al-Tur neighborhood in the city of Jerusalem, for a period of 14 days from his place of residence in the Al-Tur neighborhood, in addition to his home detention for two days, as a condition for his release after summoning him for investigation into The "Al-Maskobiya" Detention and Investigation Center 27/02/2021:  the Israeli occupation authorities in Jerusalem issued an order banning the citizen: Yusef Ali Salah - a resident of the Silwan neighborhood in Jerusalem, for a period of 15 days from his place of residence, in addition to a third party bail of 5,000 NIS, as a condition for his release after he was detained at an earlier time.
Temporary Detention	21	2	23	The Israeli Military Temporarily detained 23 residents during the month of February 2021 , including 21 in the West Bank and 2 in the Gaza Strip 10/02/20201:  the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem imposed house detention on 2 citizens: Anwar Sami Obeid and Muhammad Ali Derbas. - residents of the village of Issawiya, for a period of 5 days, as a condition for their release 10/02/20201: the Israeli occupation forces temporarily detained a number of journalists (known from them): the journalist - Mashhour Al-Wahwah, while they were covering the demolition and confiscation of tents at the entrance to Susya village, east of Yatta, and released them at a later time. 20/02/20201:  the Israeli occupation forces positioned near the village of Al-Nuweima temporarily detained the citizen: Tawfiq Hussein Al-Zayed - a resident of the Arab Al-Zayed area near the village of Al-Nuweima, and released him at a later time, and severely beat his father, while he was trying to prevent the confiscation of his agricultural tractor. 21/02/20201: the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem imposed house detention on the citizen: Suhaib al-Awar - residents of the Silwan neighborhood in Jerusalem, for a period of 5 days, in addition to a financial guarantee of 10,000 shekels, as a condition for his release after arresting him earlier. 21/02/20201: the Israeli occupation forces temporarily detained 2 children in Hizma town, and released them at a later time: Aws Ghazi Salah El-Din {8 years old}, and his brother Muhammad {5 years old}. 21/02/20201: the Israeli occupation authorities in the city of Jerusalem imposed house detention on the citizen: Ahmed Sami Abu Sbitan - a resident of the Al-Tur neighborhood in Jerusalem, for a period of 5 days, in addition to paying a fine, as a condition for his release after detaining him earlier.
Closure of Crossing Points	-	158	158	The Israeli military completely closed crossing points into the Gaza Strip, including access points within the Green Line, on 38 occasions during the month of February 2021. The Israeli military closed crossing points within the Green Line on 120 occasions.
Flying Checkpoints	307	-	307	The Israeli military set up 307 Flying checkpoints in the month of February 2021 and searched Palestinian civilians and vehicles in and around Palestinian residential areas in the districts of Jerusalem (9); Ramallah (53);Tubas (1); Jenin (1); Tulkarem (1); Qalqiliya (57); Nablus (24); Salfit (44); Jericho (33); Bethlehem (852 and Hebron (32).
Destruction of Public and Private property	156	-	156	Damages included home furniture, vehicles, Olive trees, barrack’s and demolished structures.
Confiscation of Public and Private property	16	-	16	Confiscations included vehicles, surveillance camera footage, private property and equipment.
Home Demolition	61		61	On 01/02/2021, the occupation forces demolished 11 dwellings built from the tents in the Khirbet Homsa al-Fawqa area in the northern Jordan Valley and expelled their inhabitants from the place, and also demolished 29 facilities, including sheep breeding pens belonging to families whose homes were demolished (known from their owners): Suleiman Abu al-Kabash's war Muhammad Suleiman Abu al-Kabbash, Walid Suleiman Abu al-Kabbash, Abdul-Ghani al-Awawda, Anas Abdul-Ghani al-Awda, and Muath Abdul-Ghani al-Awawda. On 02/02/2021, the Israeli occupation authorities forced the citizen: Moataz Khalil, to demolish his two-story house in the Ras al-Amud neighbourhood in Jerusalem city, after notifying him earlier, in order to avoid paying heavy fines in case the occupation authorities carried out the demolition, under the pretext of not being licensed. On 03/02/2021, the Israeli occupation forces demolished, a house (under construction), in addition to 70-meter-long fences, owned by the citizen: Abdul Majeed Musa Eid Ziyad in Marj Al-Anati area in Anata town, under the pretext of not having a permit. On 03/02/2021, the Israeli occupation forces demolished a 200-square-meter, two-floor house in the area of Khallat al-Forn, northeast of Yatta, owned by Jamal Rajab Al-Sarsour, under the pretext of not being licensed. On 03/02/2021, the Israeli occupation forces demolished 11 housing units and 9 animal breeding pens, in addition to the demolition of 5 tents installed by the Wall and Settlement Resistance Authority instead of the homes that were demolished in the village of Khirbet Humsa al-Fawqa in the northern Jordan Valley after the occupation forces demolished 40 facilities for the citizens in the area (as mentioned in the violations report on 02/02 2021). On 08/02/2021, the Israeli occupation forces demolished 2 mobile homes owned by the two citizens: Hafez Na`im Mas`id and his brother Rami in the village of Khirbet Yarza in the northern Jordan Valley under the pretext of being unlicensed and located in the area classified (C) under Israeli control. On 08/02/2021, the Israeli occupation forces demolished 9 dwellings built from tents in the Khirbet Hamsa al-Fawqa area in the northern Jordan Valley, in addition to the demolition of 22 tents, a barn for raising sheep and a well to collect water. On 09/02/2021, the Israeli occupation forces demolished a house owned by the citizen: Amna Muhammad Ata Youssef, in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood in Jerusalem. On 10/02/2021, the Israeli occupation forces demolished a house (consisting of two floors of an area of ​​180 square meters) belonging to the family of the prisoner: Muhammad Marawah Kabha using detonation explosives, in the village of Tura. On 10/02/2021, the Israeli occupation forces demolished a tent used for housing owned by the citizen: Rasmi Abu Aram in the Al-Rukayz area, southeast of Yatta. On 13/02/2021, the Israeli occupation authorities in Al-Tha`la district located east of Yatta, forced the citizen: Omar Shanran to remove his residential tent in which he lives with his 13 family members, after informing him earlier. On 15/02/2021, the Israeli occupation authorities in the Shuafat neighborhood of Jerusalem city forced the citizen: Jihad Awad Allah, to personally demolish his house (consisting of two floors - two apartments), each apartment measuring 120 square meters, after notifying him Earlier, in order to avoid paying heavy fines in the event that the occupation authorities carry out the demolition process, under the pretext of lack of permission. On 15/02/2021, the occupation authorities in Sur Baher village forced the citizen: Nimr Nimr, to personally demolish a 90-square-meter apartment for his son, after notifying him earlier, in order to avoid paying heavy fines when the occupation authorities carry out the demolition process, under the pretext of lack of permission. On 16/02/2021, the Israeli occupation forces demolished a 90-square-meter house in Silwan neighbourhood in Jerusalem, under the pretext of not having a permit, owned by a citizen: Jihad Hassan Abu Ramz. On 02/22/2021, the Israeli occupation forces demolished a 160-square-meter (under construction) house in Khirbet al-Deir, north of the town of Tuqu owned by Mujahid Mahmoud Salman, under the pretext of not having a permit. On 02/22/2021, the Israeli occupation forces demolished 12 tents used for housing in Khirbet Humsa al-Fawqa village in the northern Jordan Valley, in addition to 3 tents for sheep and 4 pens for raising livestock, and they seized them, as well as confiscated 4 water tanks, drained them as well as confiscating additional 4 plastic water tanks. On 02/22/2021, the Israeli occupation forces demolished a two-story residential building containing 4 apartments owned by the citizen: Fadi Elyan (one of the guards of Al-Aqsa Mosque), his two brothers Murad, Amjad, and their father, located near the entrance to the village of Al-Issawiya, under the pretext of not being licensed then clashed with several citizens who attempted to prevent the demolition and as a result a wounded citizen.
Attacks on Religious Sites	23	0	23	On the evening of 04/ 02/2021, an extremist settler attacked the Roman Orthodox Church in the Al-Misrara neighbourhood of Jerusalem after breaking the lock of one of its doors and a security camera installed in the place. Settlement Activity	9	-	9	On 08/02/2021, a group of settlers in the region of Iraq Milady, north of the village of Einabus, carried out settlement construction work on an area of ​​citizens' lands which were levelled about a month ago, with the aim of expanding the borders of the settlement of "Yitzhar". On 08/02/2021, the Israeli occupation forces razed citizens' lands located on the southern side of the village of Ematin, which is located near the industrial zone of "Immanuel" settlement with the aim of expanding the industrial zone. On 09/02/2021, the Israeli occupation forces began sweeping lands in the lands of citizens in the north of the settlement of Maskiot {established in the northern Jordan Valley} with the aim of expanding the colony. On 10/02/2021,the Israeli occupation forces began changing the names of the streets in the areas under Israeli control in the Old City of Hebron and changing the name of Jaber neighbourhood to “the Jewish neighbourhoods” located in the middle of the Old City of Hebron. On 11/02/2021, the Israeli occupation forces, accompanied by Israeli surveyors, carried out engineering surveying an area estimated at 500 dunums of the lands of Kisan village, south of Tuqu 'town, with the aim of seizing it to establish a new settlement outpost near the settlement outpost "Abi Hanahl". On 15/02/2021, the Israeli occupation forces continued razing the agricultural lands of the citizens in Wadi Abd al-Rahman, north of the city of Salfit, with the aim of building 800 new housing units for the purpose of expanding the settlement of "Ariel". 02/21/2021the Israeli occupation forces on the northern side of the settlement of "Ali Zahav", which is built on the lands of the town of Kafr al-Deek, razed and paved a settlement road from the settlement to Wadi Abu Saif in the town of Kafr al-Dik towards the lands of the town of Deir Ballut. Killings

A total of 4 residents were killed by Israeli forces during the month of February 2021 {4 in the West Bank and 0 in Gaza}:

Arrests

During the month of February  2021, the Israeli military arrested 441 Palestinians (440 in the West Bank and 1 in the Gaza Strip). The majority of arrests took place in the districts of Jerusalem (128); Ramallah (66); Jenin (53); Tubas (12),Tulkarem (21); Qalqiliya (17); Nablus (44); Salfit (5); Jericho (3); Bethlehem (30); Hebron (61), and North Gaza (1). Among those arrested by the Israeli military were 35 children, 2 Woman,2 University students 1 Journalist and 1 Security Force Officers.

Especially on Fridays, the Israeli military continues to intensify restrictions at checkpoints located at the entrances of Jerusalem, and to restrict entrance to the Al Aqsa Mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem, preventing worshippers from accessing the Mosque. At the Qalandiya checkpoint north of Jerusalem, the Israeli military continues to prevent PNA registered civilian vehicles from crossing the checkpoint towards Ar Ram and Qalandiya as well as Dahiyat al Bareed. The checkpoint is overcrowded daily, particularly during rush hours, due to intensified restrictions and search measures applied by Israeli troops. During the month of December 2020,he Israeli military also continued to intensify restrictions at the Tayasir checkpoint and Al Hamra junction checkpoint leading to the Jordan Valley area, only allowing access to civilians whose IDs indicate District of Jericho residence or others holding special access permits. In addition, restrictions were intensified and civilian access was obstructed at the Za’tara junction checkpoint (separating the northern and central West Bank districts) as well as at the As Sawahira ash Sharqiya (the ‘Container’) checkpoint (separating the central and southern West Bank districts).

The Israeli military installed 307 flying checkpoints in February 2021 ( compared with 482  in the month of January 2021 and compared with 486 flying checkpoints in December 2020 and as a result restricted the free access and movement of residents, merchant supplies and agricultural goods.

 

The Israeli military set up 307 Flying checkpoints in the month of February 2021 and searched Palestinian civilians and vehicles in and around Palestinian residential areas in the districts of Jerusalem (9); Ramallah (53);Tubas (1); Jenin (1); Tulkarem (1); Qalqiliya (57); Nablus (24); Salfit (44); Jericho (33); Bethlehem (852 and Hebron (32).

A total of 212 attacks were reported to have taken place during the month of February 2021 (148 in the West Bank and 64 in the Gaza Strip).

The Israeli military carried out 41 attacks from Israeli military post on civilian homes and property,95 from Military checkpoints towards Palestinian residents and vehicle and 53 during raids into Civilian populated areas. In addition, Israeli navy vessels carried out 41 attacks on Palestinian fishermen.

 

Attacks on residential areas in West Bank  and Gaza districts

During the month of February 2021, the Israeli military demolished 61 Palestinian homes and residential tents, which consisted of the following:

• On 03/02/2021, the Israeli occupation forces demolished a 200-square-meter, two-floor house in the area of Khallat al-Forn, northeast of Yatta, owned by Jamal Rajab Al-Sarsour, under the pretext of not being licensed.
• On 03/02/2021, the Israeli occupation forces demolished 11 housing units and 9 animal breeding pens, in addition to the demolition of 5 tents installed by the Wall and Settlement Resistance Authority instead of the homes that were demolished in the village of Khirbet Humsa al-Fawqa in the northern Jordan Valley after the occupation forces demolished 40 facilities for the citizens in the area (as mentioned in the violations report on 02/02 2021).
• On 08/02/2021, the Israeli occupation forces demolished 2 mobile homes owned by the two citizens: Hafez Na`im Mas`id and his brother Rami in the village of Khirbet Yarza in the northern Jordan Valley under the pretext of being unlicensed and located in the area classified (C) under Israeli control.

• On 02/22/2021, the Israeli occupation forces demolished a 160-square-meter (under construction) house in Khirbet al-Deir, north of the town of Tuqu owned by Mujahid Mahmoud Salman, under the pretext of not having a permit.
• On 02/22/2021, the Israeli occupation forces demolished 12 tents used for housing in Khirbet Humsa al-Fawqa village in the northern Jordan Valley, in addition to 3 tents for sheep and 4 pens for raising livestock, and they seized them, as well as confiscated 4 water tanks, drained them as well as confiscating additional 4 plastic water tanks.
• On 02/22/2021, the Israeli occupation forces demolished a two-story residential building containing 4 apartments owned by the citizen: Fadi Elyan (one of the guards of Al-Aqsa Mosque), his two brothers Murad, Amjad, and their father, located near the entrance to the village of Al-Issawiya, under the pretext of not being licensed then clashed with several citizens who attempted to prevent the demolition and as a result a wounded citizen.
