MONTHLY SUMMARY OF ISRAELI VIOLATIONS

The following summary tables and overview of events survey hostile Israeli activities during the period 01 January 2019 to January 31 2019. The report includes a summary table of events, classified by type, throughout the West Bank and Gaza Strip, in addition to a comparative table surveying events over the past three months. The survey is compiled from the Daily Situation Reports of the Palestinian Monitoring Group (PMG) of the Negotiations Affairs Department (NAD) of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). The PMG monitors ground conditions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, including Israeli and Palestinian violations. The information reported through the PMG process represents data available at the time of distribution only.

Analysis of Events
Killings
A total of 11 residents were killed by Israeli forces during the month of January 2019 {5 in the West Bank and 6 in Gaza}:
- January 11th 2019: Israeli forces killed Amal Mustafa Al-Tarmasi {44 years old} {A resident of Al-Shiekh Radwan neighborhood in Gaza city} during clashes in east Gaza city.
- January 13th 2019: Anwar Mohammad Zied Qadih {33 years old}{A resident of Khuza'a town} died of serious injuries sustained after Israeli forces opened fire towards demonstrators east Khuza'a town located in east Khan Yunis city on October 19th 2018.
- January 14th 2019: the Child Abdel-Ra'uf Ismail Mohammad Salhat {14 years old}{A resident of Jabaliya camp} died of serious injuries sustained after Israeli forces opened fire towards demonstrators in east Jabaliya town on January 11th 2019.
- January 21st 2019: Israeli forces opened fire towards and killed Mohammad Fawzi Yusef Awwadi {36 years old} {A resident of Rujieb village in Nablus district} at Huwara military checkpoint for allegedly attempting to stab an Israeli soldier.
- January 25th 2019: Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas canisters towards several demonstrators in east Rafah city participating in the right of return march and as a result killed the resident Ehab Atallah Hussien Abed {24 years old}{A resident of Rafah city}, injured 8 residents and left 13 others suffocated from tear gas inhalations .
- January 25th 2019: Israeli forces positioned at the military observation post in West Silwad town opened fire towards and killed the child Ayman Ahmad Othman Hamad {16 years old}{A resident of Silwad town}.
- January 26th 2019: Hamdi Talib Sa'adat Al-Na'ssan {38 years old} was killed after Israeli settlers opened fire towards residents in Al-Mughier village.
- January 26th 2019: Samir Ghazi Al-Nabahin {47 years old} {a resident of Al-Nussirat camp} died of serious injuries sustained during clashes in Al-Buriej camp on January 25th 2019.
- January 29th 2019: Israeli forces positioned at Al-Za'im Military checkpoint opened fire towards and killed Samah Zuhier Ahmad Mubarak {16 years old} {A resident of Ramallah city}.
Injuries
A total of 236 injuries were reported in the month of January 2019 (96 Palestinians in the West Bank and 140 in the Gaza Strip). Injuries included 11 children, 2 Paramedics, 5 Journalists and a Woman.
Arrests
During the month of January 2019, the Israeli military arrested 428 Palestinians (422 in the West Bank and 6 in the Gaza Strip). The majority of arrests took place in the districts of Jerusalem (73); Ramallah (68); Jenin (50); Tubas (12); Tulkarem (12); Qalqiliya (33); Nablus (27); Salfit (13); Jericho (6); Bethlehem (69); Hebron (59),North Gaza (3), Central Gaza (1) and Khan Yunis (2) Among those arrested by the Israeli military were: 45 children, 1 woman, 1 fishermen, and 6 Security Force Officers.
Closure
Especially on Fridays, the Israeli military continues to intensify restrictions at checkpoints located at the entrances of Jerusalem, and to restrict entrance to the Al Aqsa Mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem, preventing worshippers from accessing the Mosque. At the Qalandiya checkpoint north of Jerusalem, the Israeli military continues to prevent PNA registered civilian vehicles from crossing the checkpoint towards Ar Ram and Qalandiya as well as Dahiyat al Bareed. The checkpoint is overcrowded daily, particularly during rush hours, due to intensified restrictions and search measures applied by Israeli troops. During the month of August 2018 the Israeli military also continued to intensify restrictions at the Tayasir checkpoint and Al Hamra junction checkpoint leading to the Jordan Valley area, only allowing access to civilians whose IDs indicate District of Jericho residence or others holding special access permits. In addition, restrictions were intensified and civilian access was obstructed at the Za’tara junction checkpoint (separating the northern and central West Bank districts) as well as at the As Sawahira ash Sharqiya (the ‘Container’) checkpoint (separating the central and southern West Bank districts).
The Israeli military installed 364 flying checkpoints in January 2019 (compared with 388 in December 2018 and 322 in November 2018) and as a result restricted the free access and movement of residents, merchant supplies and agricultural goods.

Raids
The Israeli military carried out a total of 544 raids in Palestinian residential areas during the month of January 2019, including 536 in the West Bank and 8 in the Gaza Strip. The majority of Israeli military raids were reported to have taken place in the districts of Jerusalem (41); Ramallah (70); Jenin (72); Tubas (13); Tulkarem (53); Qalqiliya (36); Nablus (73); Salfit (23); Jericho (7); Bethlehem (67); Hebron (81), North Gaza (5),Central Gaza (1) , Rafah (2).
Attacks
A total of 325 attacks were reported to have taken place during the month of January 2019 (134 in the West Bank and 191 in the Gaza Strip).

Palestinian Attacks:
During the month of January 2019, Palestinian gunmen broke the ceasefire agreement on 4 occasions by launching projectiles towards the Green Line.
- January 7th 2019: Palestinian gunmen launched projectiles towards the Green Line.
- January 12th 2019: Palestinian gunmen launched projectiles towards the Green Line.
- January 22nd 2019: Palestinian Gunmen opened fire towards an Israeli Military vehicle near the border fence in east Al-Buriej camp.
- January 22nd 2019: Palestinian Gunmen opened fire towards an Israeli Military vehicle near the border fence in east Beit Hanoun town.
Attacks on residential areas in West Bank districts
Home Demolition
During the month of January 2019, the Israeli military demolished 8 Palestinian homes and residential tents, which consisted of the following:
- January 2nd 2019: Israeli forces demolished a home owned by Ramzi Al-Shewiky {which was built 5 years ago} located in Qalandiya village near "Atarit" settlement in North Jerusalem city for allegedly being built without a licence.
- January 16th 2019: Israeli forces demolished a storage room owned by Abed Al-Hadi Obiyat in Al-Nuw'ma village located in North Jericho city for allegedly being built without a licence.
- January 16th 2019: Israeli forces demolished a home {consisting of 3 rooms and a kitchen} owned by Adnan Soliman Abu Kharish in Fasayil village or allegedly being built without a licence.
- January 17th 2019: Israeli forces demolished {using explosives} the 2nd floor of the home owned by the family of the child: Khalil Yusef Al-Jabarin {16 years old}{who was accused by the Israeli military of killing a Israeli settler approximately 4 months ago} during their raid into Al-Hilat area in Yatta town.
- January 25th 2019: Israeli authorities in the Silwan neighbourhood of Jerusalem forced Mohammed al-Abbasi to demolish two rooms (a bedroom and a living room) {approximately 50 m2} of his home for allegedly being built without a licence.
Attack on Public and Private Property
Attack on Public and Private property occurred as follows per District:
Jerusalem:
- January 13th 2019: Israeli forces demolished 2 livestock dens owned by Ibrahim Ahmad Abdel-Wahab and Hytham Ahmad Abdel-Wahab and also demolished a concrete fence {surrounding 16 dunums of land} owned by Mohammad Hassan Badriyat in Beit Iksa village for allegedly being built without a licence.
- January 21st 2019: Israeli forces stormed Al-Eisawiya village and forced Hytham Mohammad Mustafa to demolish a vehicle repair shop he owns for allegedly being built without a licence and fined him 8000 NIS{in the event that the Israeli forces demolish the home}.
- January 22nd 2019: Israeli forces stormed Jaba' village, levelled agricultural land located near Jaba' military checkpoint and as a result demolished a concrete fence, uprooted and confiscated approximately 60 Olive trees.
- January 30th 2019: Israeli forces demolished, 3 merchant shops and 2 storage rooms located in Wadi Al-Juz neighbourhood in Jerusalem city owned by Khalid Al-Malahi for allegedly being built without a licence.
- January 31st 2019: the Israeli minister of Interior issued an order to close down the Orient House, Arab Studies Centre, Social and Statistical Studies Centre, Chamber of Commerce, Supreme Council of Tourism and Palestinian Prisoners Club in East Jerusalem for a period of 6 months.
Tubas:
- January 8th 2019: Israeli forces stormed Kabish area located in south Khirbiet Atouf village and served a military order to halt construction in the area claiming it’s an archaeological site.
- January 13th 2019: Israeli forces removed 14 families from their homes in Khirbit Ibziq village located in the North Jordan valley {based on a prior notification} from 10:00 on January 13th 2018 until 06:00 on January 14th 2018 for alleged military training in the area.
- January 14th 2019: Israeli forces paved a road in Al-Burj area located in the North Jordan valley in an alleged military training in the area and as a result damaged several acres of agricultural land.
- January 27th 2019: Four cows belonging to Fawzi Yousef Abu Mutawa died from a landmine explosion in the area of Jisr Um 'Ashish near the area of Ein al-Sakut in the northern Jordan Valley.
Tulkarem:
- January 21st 2019: Israeli forces demolished a vehicle repair shop owned by Izat Mikawi Shadid during their raid into Allar town.
Nablus:
- January 30th 2019: Israeli forces demolished Foundations and columns of warehouses (under construction) owned by Mohammed Hassan al-Dumeidi in Huwara town for allegedly being built without a licence.
Jericho:
- January 14th 2019: Israeli forces demolished an agricultural storage room owned by Abdel-Hadi Obiyat in Nuw'ma village located in North Jericho city for allegedly being built without a licence.
Bethlehem:
- January 21st 2019: Israeli forces levelled a plot of land approximately 15 dunums along with its stone fences and uprooted 60 Olive trees owned by Raed Abu Harthiya and Riyad Abu Harthiya during their raid into Bittar village.
- January 28th 2019: Israeli forces demolished an agricultural storage room located in Wadi Al-Ghut area in Husan village for allegedly being built in area C {which is under Israeli Military and Administrative control}.
Hebron:
- January 14th 2019: Israeli force stormed Al-Jawiya village located in south east Yatta town and served military orders to halt construction on a home, a storage shed and a water well owned by Abdel-Mutalib Hamad Al-Nawaj'at and Musa Hassan Al-Shawahin for allegedly being built without a license.
- January 24th 2019: the Israeli forces issued a military order to halt rehabilitation and construction work on the infrastructure of "Beit Einoun / UNESCO", located northeast of Hebron, and temporarily seized construction equipment and machinery used for the work which was for expansion of a 2000 m road.
- January 27th 2019: Israeli forces prevented Workers of the Hebron Rehabilitation Committee conducting construction work on a plot of land owned by Hana Abu Haykal in Tel Al-Rumayda neighbourhood in the old city of Hebron.
- January 29th 2019: Israeli forces stormed Sussiya village located in east Yatta town and served a military order to halt construction on a water well and water pipe network owned by Farid Ahmad Za'al Al-Jabour for allegedly being built without a licence because of its location in area C {which is under Israeli administrative and military control}.
- January 30th 2019: Israeli forces prevented construction worker of Hebron Rehabilitation Committee to carry out the renovation work on the home of Hana Abu Haykal in Tel Al-Rumayda neighbourhood in the old city of Hebron.
- January 31st 2019: Israeli forces levelled a road which connects Sha'eb Al-Batem with Musafar Yatta area after it was paved by the National resistance Committee against the wall and settlement which was constructed to ease the travel of residents in the area.
Confiscation of Property:
Jerusalem:
- January 7th 2019: Israeli Forces positioned at Beit Iksa Military checkpoint confiscated a truck {used to deliver propane gas tanks} owned by Muhanad Makhtoub {A resident of Al-Qubiba village}.
- January 30th 2019: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Ra'fat Fawaz Rabi' during their raid into Abu Dis town.
Ramallah & Al-Bireh:
- January 22nd 2019: Israeli forces confiscated 3200 NIS from the home of Ahed Samirat during their raid into Silwad town.
- January 30th 2019: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Khalid Ma'rouf Yusef in the area between Kobar town and Beit Illo village.
Tubas:
- January 28th 2019: Israeli forces stormed Al-Ras Al-Ahmar area located in the North Jordan Valley and confiscated an agricultural tractor owned by Ahmad Thiyab Abu Khaziran for allegedly operating in a restricted military zone.
Jenin:
- January 10th 2019: Israeli forces confiscated a Caravan owned by Hishama Hamouda in Imrayih area located in south Ya'bad town.
Nablus:
- January 10th 2019: Israeli forces confiscated 2 vehicles owned by Yassin Qutt and Ammar Qutt during their into Madma village.
- January 15th 2019: Israeli forces confiscated 7 lathe machines owned by Assad Nasrallah during their raid into Nablus city.
- January 21st 2019: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Ameer Ishtaya {A Palestinian Detainee} during their raid into Zuwata village.
Jericho:
- January 21st 2019: Israeli forces confiscated 10000 NIS from the homes of Mohammad Kamal Shalalfat and Hytham Kamal Shalalfat during their raid into Fasayil village.
Bethlehem:
- January 2nd 2019: Israeli forces confiscated a caravan owned by Bilal Ahmad Fanoun for alleged being built without a licence.
- January 6th 2019: Israeli forces confiscated surveillance camera footage after storming and searching "Al-Na'im" restaurant during their raid into Al-Ubidiya.
- January 30th 2019: Israeli forces confiscated 2 barracks owned by Ismail Mughanam Al-Sha'er and Musa Salem Ayish during their raid into Teqou' town.
Hebron:
- January 10th 2019: Israeli forces confiscated 5000 NIS from the home of Fawaz Al-Qawasmi during their raid into Hebron city.
- January 13th 2019: Israeli forces confiscated a vehicle owned by Maysar Bajat Masalma {A resident of Deir Sammit village} after detaining her at a flying checkpoint located at the entrance of Deir Sammit village.
- January 18th 2019: Israeli forces confiscated an agricultural tractor owned by Nidal Hashash Samamrat in Khirbeit Al-Zanuta village located in south Al-Thahriya town.
- January 28th 2019: Israeli forces stormed Far'a area located in west Dura town and confiscated Electricity towers which were set up to transfer electricity from the town of Beit Ula to supply electricity in the southern Hebron District and work crews were prevented from working in the area under the pretext of working in Area C {which is under Israeli Military and administrative control}.
- January 31st 2019: Israeli forces confiscated 50000 NIS the home of Mahmoud Ibrahim Mahmoud Jaber during their raid into Beit Ulla town.
North Gaza:
- January 1st 2019: Israeli forces confiscated a fishing boat after opening fire towards it off the shores of Sudaniya area located in west Beit Lahiya town.
- January 10th 2019: Israeli forces confiscated a fishing boat after opening fire towards it off the shores of Sudaniya area located in west Beit Lahiya town.
- January 19th 2019: Israeli forces confiscated a fishing boat owned by Mohammad Jaber Husam Mohammad Baker {a Fisherman} off the shores of off the shores of Al-Waha area located in North West Beit Lahiya town
Settlement Activity:
- January 1st 2019: Israeli forces stormed Thahr Al-Malah village located behind the wall gate and levelled a plot of land approximately 120 dunums in order to expand "Shaqed" settlement.
- January 1st 2019: Israeli forces stormed Bi'r Al-Basha area in south Hebron city and levelled a plot of agricultural land owned by Zakariya Abu Ajamiya and Imran Abu Ajamiya.
- January 10th 2019: the Israeli occupation authorities announced the opening "4370 settlement road" in the city of Jerusalem, which separates Palestinian drivers from settler drivers. The street is divided by a wall up to 8 meters high. Connects the Adam colony on Route 1, Tel Aviv-Jerusalem, between the junction of the French Hill and the tunnel leading to the 3.5-kilometer-long mountain, which opened two weeks ago, west of the road, which allows unauthorized Palestinian drivers To enter the city of Jerusalem, while finally opened the other side of the street that allows Settlers to facilitate their access to the French Hill and Mount Jerusalem in Jerusalem city.
- January 29th 2019: Israeli Authorities in Jerusalem city approved plans for the construction of a cable cart in the old city of Jerusalem which will begin from Al-Tur neighbourhood and end at the western wall { The first phase of the plan will include the construction of three stations - the first station will be located at the old train station, the second stop near the parking lot near Mount Zion, and the third station will be built on the surface of the complex "Kedem" near Al Buraq Square}.
Settler Violence:
51 incidents of Settler violence occurred during the month of January 2019 including:
Jerusalem:
- January 1st 2019: a group of Israeli settlers assaulted Ismail Abu Wahdan {A bus driver for Egged Bus company} {a resident of Jerusalem city} and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions.
Ramallah &Al-Bireh:
- January 3rd 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed the outskirts of Silwad town and stoned the home of Raed Hamad which is located near "Ofra" military base/settlement.
- January 18th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Abu Al-Hanoun area located in Al-Mughier village and chopped off the limbs of approximately 20 Olive trees owned by Jamal Abdallah Al-Na'san and Maher Riziq Al-Na'san.
- January 21st 2019: a group of Israeli settlers positioned along the main road connecting Turmus'aya town and Al-Mugheir village stoned vehicles which were travelling in the area.
- January 25th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers from "Shilo" settlement in Turmus'yaya town shattered the windows of 3 vehicles and spray painted racist graffiti then withdrew at a later time.
- January 26th 2019: a group of armed Israeli settlers stormed Al-Mughier village and opened fire towards several residents and as a result killed a resident and injured 22 others.
Tubas:
- January 15th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Al-Rawa'i area located near Khirbit Mak'houl located in the North Jordan valley area and attacked Yusef Hussien Asmar Bishirat {A resident of Khirbit Mak'houl area} as he was herding his goats during which Israeli forces detained a residents and left his 11 year old son to herd the goats by himself.
- January 19th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Al-Lahmat area located in the North Jordan valley then withdrew at a later time.
- January 22nd 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Khirbiet Mak'houl area located in the North Jordan valley area as they chased several residents who were herding goats in the area.
- January 29th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers accompanied by several trained attack dogs chased several farmers who were herding their goats on land in Al-Rawa'iya area which is located north of "Rotim" settlement which is located in Al-Farisiya area of the North Jordan valley.
- January 31st 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Al-Ru'wiya area located North of "Rotim" settlement in Al-Farisiya area of the Noth Jordan valley and stoned Hussien Zuhdi Abu Muh'sin as he was herding his goats in the area.
Jenin:
- January 1st 2019: a group of Israeli settlers positioned near "Homish" settlement stoned residents and vehicles positioned along the main road connecting Nablus and Jenin
- January 11th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers positioned near Homish settlement {which was abandoned} attacked a number of vehicles travelling in the area and as a result damaged a taxi owned by Farid Maarouf Farid Jabr.
Tulkarem:
- January 25th 2019: a group of armed Israeli settlers stormed Wadi Al-Ashqar area located in the area between Anabta town and Kafr Rumman village then withdrew at a later time.
- January 28th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Quffin town and chopped down Olive trees owned by Mahmoud Nasser Amarnah.
Nablus:
- January 3rd 2019: a group of Israeli settlers positioned near "Homish" settlement stoned residents and vehicles positioned along the main road connecting Nablus and Jenin then withdrew at 20:30.
- January 3rd 2019: a group of Israeli settlers positioned near "Yitshar" settlement outpost located in North Huwara town stoned residents and vehicles passing through the area.
- January 5th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Burin village and chopped off the limbs of several Olive trees.
- January 5th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers positioned near Sabastiya village junction stoned vehicles travelling in the area.
- January 6th 2019: a group of settlers from the "777" settlement outpost entered the agricultural land of the village of Khirbet Yanun, stole about 15 olive trees and almonds after they were uprooted by a bulldozer, and placed a number of caravans next to the settlement outpost. Expansion at the expense of citizens' lands.
- January 13th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Al-Qasour area in Burqa village and destroyed 1000 Forest seedlings planted in land to be turned into a nature reserve. Stones were also thrown at the house of Fattin Mohammed Salah.
- January 19th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers from "Yitshar" settlement positioned along the bypass road near the settlement and stoned vehicles travelling near the area.
- January 20th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers positioned along the main road connecting Nablus and Jenin {located near "Homish" settlement outpost which was abandoned} and stoned vehicle travelling in the area.
- January 21st 2019: a group of Israeli settlers from "Rahlim" settlement planted olive tree on residential owned land located in Talat Al-Sawiya area located in Al-Sawiya village in an attempt to confiscate it.
Qalqiliya:
- January 30th 2019: a Israeli settler vehicle travelling along the main road in Al-Fanduq village ran over Sari Samir Barham and as a result left him hospitalized with cuts and contusions
Salfit:
- January 3rd 2019: group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land in Bruqin town and chopped off the limbs of 30 Olive trees owned by Ziyad Barakat Abu Zied.
- January 3rd 2019: a group of Israeli settlers positioned along the main road connecting Salfit and Qalqiliya districts stoned a vehicle of the Palestinian Minister of Religious Affairs.
- January 3rd 2019: Israeli forces positioned at Za'tara military checkpoint stoned vehicles passing through the area.
- January 25th 2019: Israeli settlers from "Eli Za'av" settlement positioned near the west entrance of Kafr Al-Dik town stoned vehicles travelling in the area.
- January 26th 2019: An Israeli settler stormed agricultural land in Turmus'aya town and assaulted Muqbil Faris and his son Yusef with a steel pipe leaving them injured with light contusions.
Jericho:
- January 14th 2019: Israeli settlers positioned near Al-Jiftlik village stole 27 heads of sheep owned by Khalil Mohammad Salem Jabarat {A resident of Al-Jiftlik village}.
Bethlehem:
- January 11th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers positioned at the North entrance of Teqou town stoned vehicles travelling near the area and as a result damaged a vehicle.
- January 14th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers positioned near the west entrance of Teqou' town closed the entrance and impeded the free flow of traffic then raised Israeli flags in the area.
- January 20th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers driving 3 vehicles stormed agricultural land in Um Salmona village, installed 3 tents and planted several trees in the area of 6 dunums land which is owned by Waleed Abu Hamad and Abdallah Yusef in an attempt to confiscate it then withdrew at 21:40.
- January 28th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Al-Awarid area located in Khilat Sakariya village {which is surrounded by "Ghush Itiziyon settlements} and planted several Fruit bearing trees in approximately 10 dunums of land owned by Odah family in an attempt to seize the plot of land.
Hebron:
- January 6th 2019: Israeli settlers from "Asfar" settlement stormed agricultural land in Al-Shiyoukh town located near the settlement and uprooted 60 Olive groves owned by Musa Ahmad Ayadat.
- January 8th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers from "Migon" and "Givat Migon" settlement which are located in east Yatta town stormed agricultural land located in Al-Hamra area located near Al-Tuwani village and chopped off the limbs of approximately 30 Olive trees owned by Al-Raba'i family and spray painted Anti arab and racist slogans on the concrete walls surrounding the land.
- January 10th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers in Khirbeit Bir Al-Ad area located in south east Yatta town assaulted and slandered an elderly resident during which Israeli forces detained him.
- January 10th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers from "Talim" settlement located in east Tarqumiya town stormed agricultural land in Al-Tayba area located in Tarqumiya town and uprooted 30 Olive and almond trees and Grape vines owned by Al-Ja'afra family.
- January 12th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Al-Masafir area located in east Yatta town and assaulted 2 residents: Jabr Ibrahim Awad Al-Zin and Ahmad Khalid Al-Najjar as they were herding their goats near "Migon" settlement and "Avigayil" settlement outpost and as a result left them hospitalized with contusion
- January 12th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers from "Otniel" settlement located in west Yatta town unleashed attack dogs towards several residents and as a result left a resident hospitalized after a dog bit him on his shoulder and arm.
- January 13th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers stormed Al-Ibrahimi mosque compound garden and chopped off the limbs of several old Olive trees.
- January 13th 2019: Israeli settlers from "Kiryat Arba'" settlement located in east Hebron city demolished several stone fences surrounding agricultural land owned by Jaber family located in Wadi Al-Hassien area {which is located near the settlement} in an attempt to pave a settler road during which local residents were able to restore the fences.
- January 21st 2019: An Israeli settler vehicle travelling along road {60} near the entrance of Beit Ummar town ran over Fatima Abu Mariya {A resident of Beit Ummar town} and as a result left her hospitalized with fractures and contusions.
- January 22nd 2019: a group of Israeli settlers from "Beit Ein" settlement located in Beit Ummar town stormed agricultural land in Wadi Al-Rish area located in the north part of town and chopped off the limbs of several Olive tree owned by Ibrahim Thalji.
- January 25th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers from "Kiryat Arba'" settlement located in east Hebron city attacked several residents and homes in Wadi Al-Hassin area and as a result injured 2 residents {including a child}.
- January 26th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers from "Kiryat Arba'" settlement located in east city attacked several residents and homes in Wadi Al-Hassin area {for the 2nd consecutive day} and stoned members of Abu Safa'in family leaving them injured with contusions.
- January 28th 2019: a group of Israeli settlers from "Beit Yitar" settlement which is located on Palestinian owned land in south east Yatta town ,assaulted several farmers {who are from Al-Mur and Al-Makhamra families} near Um Al-Khus and Khirniet Al-Bir villages and as a result left them hospitalized with contusions during which the settlers under the protection of the Israeli Military placed land marks in several areas {in an attempt to map out area for settlement expansion} which leads to the entrance of a tent and cave area were Ziyad Mohammad Yunis Makhamra and his family reside in and is located in Um Al-Aris village.
Closure of Crossing Points
The Israeli military completely closed crossing points into the Gaza Strip, including access points within the Green Line, on 146 occasions during the month of January 2019. The Israeli military closed crossing points within the Green Line on 105 occasions. It opened Beit Hanun (Erez) Crossing for 27 days for previously-coordinated humanitarian cases and foreign nationals and Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing for 23 days for transportation of food supplies, humanitarian aid, and cooking gas. In addition to allowing in animal feed, construction cargo designated for UNRWA and internationally-funded projects was transported through the Crossing. Sufa Crossing was closed throughout the month. On the other hand, the Israeli authorities have continued to unilaterally close Ash Shuja’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Israeli authorities has also continued to completely close Al Muntar (Karnei) Commercial Crossing.
The Israeli military closed international crossing points on 41 occasions. Rafah Crossing was closed on 10 occasions. has remained closed since the outbreak of the second Intifada.
