Daily Report April 29th 2016

WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure of District

(i) On April 28th 2016, the Israeli army, intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
(iii) The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint.

Military Checkpoints

(i) Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city and at 10:55, Israeli forces closed the checkpoint after the opened fire towards a woman and her brother (A Child) and as a result killed them during which confrontations erupted between Residents and Israeli forces then reopened it at a later time.
(ii) On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu ‘fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 11:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Hizma village, impeded the free flow of traffic as they inspected a vehicle which they suspected to be owned by Ahmad Yazid {A resident of Shu’fat camp}.
(ii) At 12:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in Khan Al-Hamra area and impeded the free flow of traffic travelling to Ramallah city until 13:55.

Deportation

On April 28th 2016, Israeli forces in Jerusalem city served Military orders for the expulsions of Firas Abu Ghanam (A resident of Al-Tur neighborhood in Jerusalem) from entering Al-Aqsa mosque compound for a period of 4 months.

Obstruction of Places of Worship

At 09:00, Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli Military and Police forces stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem and provoked worshipers.

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Slewahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem IDs to cross, after subjecting them to thorough searches using electronic devices.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages
(ii) At 24:00 on February 14th 2016, closed the main road near the entrance of “Bet El” settlement which leads to Al-Jalazoun camp with cement blocks for alleged gunfire.

Flying Checkpoints

At 11:45, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Yabroud village then searched residents and vehicles until 14:00.

Raid

At dawn on April 28th 2016, Israeli forces raided Ramallah city and detained 3 residents.

Attack

At 20:15, Israeli forces positioned near the entrance of Beit Ur At Tahta village opened fire towards 2 residents and detained them during which they closed the entrances to Beit Ur At Tahta and Beit Ur Al-Foqa village then reopened it at 23:15.

Detention

(i) At 20:25, Israeli forces detained 2 residents: Mu’en Yahya Satieh and Jihad Mohammad Qatoufah {Both residents of Deir Qaddiss village}.
(ii) Israeli forces detained Hussein Abu Kwiek, Omar Abu Ghosh and Ahmad Mafarjah in Ramallah city.
(iii) Israeli forces detained 2 children: Tasnim Khalil Halabi (16 years old){Critically injured} and Natali Eyad Abdel-Azziz Shukha (16 years old) {Both residents of Ramon village}.

Injuries

Israeli forces injured 2 children: Tasnim Khalil Halabi (16 years old){Critically injured} and Natali Eyad Abdel-Azziz Shukha (16 years old) {Both residents of Ramon village}.

JENIN

Closure of District

On December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area and declared the area a closed military zone

Closure of main Roads

The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the road leading to the town of ‘Arraba east of the illegal settlement Dotan.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 08:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area between Ya’bad and Kafrit village then searched residents and vehicles until 09:00.
(ii) At 17:10, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area between Beit Qad and Faqua villages then searched residents and vehicles.

Closure of Wall Gates

Israeli forces continue to close the wall gate and only allow those holding special permits to enter through it.

TUBAS

Closure of main Roads

Since 12:30 on March 15th 2016, Israeli forces closed the east entrance of Al-Aqaba village with cement blocks.

TULKAREM

Military Checkpoints

At 08:45 and again at 18:15, Israeli forces continue to intensify their restrictions at “Eniv” checkpoint located along the main road connecting Tulkarem and Nablus and impeded the free flow of traffic.

Raid

At 11:00, Israeli forces raided Anabtah town until 11:35.

Settlers Violence

(i) At 08:00, a group of armed Israeli settlers stormed land in Wadi Al-Sha’ir area located near Tulkarem city and stormed a home {under construction} located behind Al-Quds Open University campus then withdrew at 11:35.
(ii) At 12:50, Israeli settlers positioned near “Eniv” checkpoint then withdrew at a later time.

QALQILIYA

Closure of main Roads

(i) Israeli forces continue to close with cement blocks agricultural roads east of Azzun town.
(ii) In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
(iii) Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 14:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Habalah Tunnel entrance located at the south entrance of Qalqiliya then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 17:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Jit village junction then searched residents and vehicles.
(iii) At 18:45, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Jinsafut village then searched residents and vehicles until 20:15.

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to restrict access at ‘Azzun ‘Atma Wall gate and impeded the free flow of traffic. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the entrance to the village of Wadi Al- Rasha and to deny civilian access.
(ii) The Israeli army allows residents to access the village through Gate #109. Having removed the gate at the entrance to the village of Ras Atiya; the Israeli army only allows students to cross to their schools outside the village through the Habla gate.

NABLUS

Closure (per District)

Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the northern entrance to Qabalan town; the southern entrances to the town of Jamma’in and the villages of Duma and Qaryut.
(ii) Since 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds.
(iii) Since 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area.

Military Checkpoints

At 15:15, Israeli forces closed Huwara checkpoint and as a result impeded the free flow of traffic and redirected traffic towards the road leading to Awara village junction until reopening it at a later time.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 17:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area between Iraq Burin and Tel villages then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 17:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Deir Sharaf village located along the main road connecting Nablus and Tulkarem then searched residents and vehicles.
(iii) At 17:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint along the main road in Assira Al-Shamaliya town then searched residents and vehicles.
(iv) At 17:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint along Deir Sharaf village junction then searched residents and vehicles.

SALFIT

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the entrance to two detour roads connecting Marda village to its farmland.
(ii) Since 11:00 on July 30th 2012, Israeli forces have closed two roads leading to Abu Nasar and Qatan Al-Jama’ located in western area of Deir Istiya with cement blocks.

Military Checkpoints

At 17:50, Israeli forces continue to intensify their restrictions at Za’tara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic.

JERICHO

Military Checkpoints

Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District.

Flying Checkpoints

At 09:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint along road (90) near Al-New’meh village junction located at the North entrance of Jericho then searched residents and vehicles until 09:10.

Detention

On April 27th 2016, Israeli forces positioned at Allenby bridge detained Majdi Safwat Khalil Yassin (A Swedish Citizen) {A resident of Anin town in Jenin District} as he was travelling to Jordan.

BETHLEHEM

Closure (per District)

(i) The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
(ii) Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities.

Closure of Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds.
(ii) Since 10:45 on September 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the agricultural road located in Arab Al-Rashaydeh village located near “Malee Amous” settlement with dirt mounds.
(iii) Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires

Flying Checkpoints

At 16:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Teqou’ and temporarily detained Tamer Saleem Al-Badan (A National Security Force officer) then released him at 16:45.

Raid

(i) At 08:10, Israeli forces raided Irtas village as they escorted a group of Israeli settlers as they stormed Sulimans Pool then withdrew at 09:15.
(ii) At 02:50, Israeli forces raided Beit Fajjar town, stormed several homes, summoned 3 residents including a Police officer: Saleem Mohammad Taqatqa, Nabeel Hussein Taqatqa and Nader Ribhi Taqatqa to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning then withdrew at 04:45.

HEBRON

Closure of District

(i) The Israeli army continues to close Al-Shuhada’ Street, Al-Sahleh and Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighbourhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed.
(ii) Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.

Closure of Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the bypass road connecting Bani Na’im and Zif village junction with dirt mounds.
(iii) The Israeli Army continues to close the entrance of Beit Ummar (located near the local Cemetery) with dirt mounds.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 17:10, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Beit Ummar then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 18:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Fuwar camp then searched residents and vehicles.

GAZA STRIP

ALL DISTRICTS

• At 19:00 on August 26th 2014, Palestinian Gunmen and the Israeli military agreed to a cease fire agreement (brokered by the Arab Republic of Egypt) which includes the opening of border crossings to allow the entry of emergency supplies and humanitarian goods as well as construction material and agreed to increase the fishing limit to 6 nautical miles with possibility of increase to 12 nautical miles by the end of the year and to decrease the Military area to 100 meters, allow freedom of movement and a halt to targeted killings and assassinations and negotiations will be held for discussion on rebuilding the sea port and airports in the coming month.

• Israeli forces broke the ceasefire agreement by opening fire from their positions behind the Green Line towards Gaza and Khan Yunis.
• Israeli Naval vessels broke the cease fire agreement by opening fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores North Gaza.

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

Beit Hanun (Erez) is open for the passage of critical patients, journalists, NGO staff, businesspersons and passengers travelling abroad through Al-Karama crossing with previous coordination.

Attack

At 00:15 on April 29th 2016, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Al-Sudaniya area located in west Beit Lahiya

GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

(i) Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
(ii) Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.

Attack

(i) At 08:30 on April 28th 2016, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Gaza city.
(ii) At 10:15 on April 28th 2016, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in south east Gaza city.

KHAN YUNIS

Attack

(i) At 08:30 on April 28th 2016, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Al-Qarara town.
