WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure

(i) On May 22 nd 2016, The Israeli army intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
(iii) The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint.
(iii) At 22:30 on May 21st 2016, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Hizma village with barbed wires.

Military Checkpoints

(i) Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
(ii) On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu ‘fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall.

Raid

(i) At 20:00, Israeli forces raided Al-Eisawiya village, clashed with several residents as they stormed a home and detained a child.
(ii) At 02:30, Israeli forces raided Biddu town until 06:00.

Detention

(i) At 20:15, Israeli forces detained Ali Abu Sabatin in Al-Tur neighbourhood in Jerusalem city.
(ii) Israeli forces detained Qusay Abd Aliyan (17 years old) in Al-Eisawiya village.

Temporary Detention

At 13:30, Israeli courts in Jerusalem city detained the child Khalil Raed Abu Taya (17 years old) {A resident of Silwan neighbourhood in Jerusalem city} to 5 days house detention and imposed a fine of 5000 NIS to release him after he was arrested {As mentioned in the report of May 20th 2016}.

Obstruction of Places of Worship

At 09:00, Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli Military and Police forces stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem and provoked worshipers.

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Slewahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem IDs to cross, after subjecting them to thorough searches using electronic devices.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages
(ii) Since 24:00 on February 14th 2016, closed the main road near the entrance of “Bet El” settlement which leads to Al-Jalazoun camp with cement block.

Flying Checkpoints

At 21:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Beit Ur Al-Foqa, temporarily detained Muneer Kama Alaan (A resident of Beit Ur At Tahta village) as he was accompanying his wife and child then released him at 22:00.

Raid

At 02:20, Israeli forces raided Al-Bireh city, clashed with several residents then withdrew at 04:30.

Temporary Detention

At 01:15, Israeli forces temporarily detained 2 residents: Shadi Abed Arsan and Izhaq Yusef Barqash {Both residents of Beit Ur Al-Tahta} then released them at 03:00

JENIN

Closure

Since December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area and declared the area a closed military zone.

The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the road leading to the town of ‘Arraba east of the illegal settlement Dotan

Raid

At dawn on May 23rd 2016, Israeli forces raided Jaba’ town, stormed and searched 2 homes and detained 2 residents.

Detention

(i) On May 22nd 2016, Israeli forces positioned at Arabba town junction detained Mohammad Yassin Abu Tama’ (A resident of Jenin city).
(ii) Israeli forces detained 2 residents: Baha Fayez Hamdan and Qusday Hassan Odeh in Jaba’ town

TUBAS

Closure of main Roads

Since 12:30 on March 15th 2016, Israeli forces closed the east entrance of Al-Aqaba village with cement blocks.

At 09:25, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near “Magla” settlement junction located in the North Jordan valley then searched residents and vehicles.

TULKAREM

Military Checkpoints

At 09:25, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near “Magla” settlement junction located in the North Jordan valley then searched residents and vehicles.

Detention

At 20:50, Israeli forces detained 3 residents: Oday Mohammad Saleh, Murad Fathi Musa and Imad Mir’I Shiuhadeh {All residents of Izbit Shufa village}.

QALQILIYA

Closure of Roads

(i) Israeli forces continue to close with cement blocks agricultural roads east of Azzun town.
(ii) In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
(iii) Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate.

Flying Checkpoints

At 09:45 and again at 23:10, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the east entrance of Qalqiliya city then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

At 00:50, Israeli forces raided Kafr Thulth town until 05:15.

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to restrict access at ‘Azzun ‘Atma Wall gate and impeded the free flow of traffic. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the entrance to the village of Wadi Al- Rasha and to deny civilian access.
(ii) The Israeli army allows residents to access the village through Gate #109. Having removed the gate at the entrance to the village of Ras Atiya; the Israeli army only allows students to cross to their schools outside the village through the Habla gate.

NABLUS

Closure

Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the northern entrance to Qabalan town; the southern entrances to the town of Jamma’in and the villages of Duma and Qaryut.
(ii) Since 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds.
(iii) Since 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 09:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Deir Saharaf village junction located along the main road connecting Nablus and Tulkarem then searched residents and vehicles until 11:30.
(ii) At 18:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint along Al-Bithan road which leads to the east entrance of Nablus city then searched residents and vehicles then detained a resident.
(iii) At 20:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Beit Furiq town junction then searched residents and vehicles until 21:00.

Raid

(i) At 22:40, Israeli forces raided Huwara town {for the alleged throwing of a fire bomb towards a bus carrying Israeli settlers as it passed along main road in Huwara town}, stormed and searched several merchant shops, inspected surveillance camera footage then withdrew at 24:00.
(ii) At 23:20, Israeli forces raided Einbuis village.
(iii) At 01:00, Israeli forces raided Sarah village junction.

Detention

(i) At 13:35, Israeli forces detained Iz Al-Din Mamdouh Abdel-Haq {A resident of Nablus city} as he was reporting to Israeli Intelligence for questioning based on a prior summon.
(ii) Israeli forces detained Khier Al-Din Hafith Sharidah (A resident of Nablus city) in along Al-Bithan road which leads to the east entrance of Nablus city.

SALFIT

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the entrance to two detour roads connecting Marda village to its farmland.
(ii) Since 11:00 on July 30th 2012, Israeli forces have closed two roads leading to Abu Nasar and Qatan Al-Jama’ located in western area of Deir Istiya with cement blocks.

Military Checkpoints

At 18:45, Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Za’tara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic until 19:55.

Raid

(i) At 08:00, Israeli forces raided Kafil Harris town as they escorted a group of Israeli settlers who stormed holy sites in the area.
(ii) At 18:50, Israeli forces raided Marda village and clashed with several residents.
(iii) At 01:00, Israeli forces raided Rafat village and stormed 2 homes.

Detention

At 23:10, Israeli forces positioned at Za’tara checkpoint detained Mahmoud Samour Suliman (A resident of Beit Ur At Tahta village in Ramallah & Al-Bireh District).

JERICHO

Military Checkpoints

Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District

Raid

At 19:45, Israeli forces raided Al-Oja village until 20:00.

Detention

At 23:00, Israeli forces positioned at Allenby bridge detained Mahdi Jameel Arouf Al-Assi (A resident of Bruqin town in Jenin district) as he was returning from Jordan.

BETHLEHEM

Closure

(i) The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
(ii) Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds.
(ii) Since 10:45 on September 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the agricultural road located in Arab Al-Rashaydeh village located near “Malee Amous” settlement with dirt mounds.
(iii) Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 08:55, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Dar Salah village located at the east entrance of Beit Sahur city then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 09:05, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint beneath Al-Khader bridge located along the main road connecting the west village area then searched residents and vehicles until 11:00.
(iii) At 09:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Marah Rabah village then searched residents and vehicles until 10:30.
(iv) At 09:35, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at west entrance of Beit Fajjar then searched residents and vehicles until 11:00.
(v) At 16:35, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the North entrance of Teqou’ town then searched residents and vehicles.
(vi) At 18:30, Israeli force set up a checkpoint at the west entrance of Beit Fajjar and detained a resident.
(vii) At 19:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in Aqbat Hasna area located near the entrance of Husan village then searched residents and vehicles until 20:30.

Raid

(i) At 14:00, Israeli forces raided Dar Salah village, stormed and searched several merchant shops and inspected surveillance camera footage.
(ii) At 16:25, Israeli forces raided Beit Fajjar town, stormed several stone cutting mills and inspected surveillance camera footage.
(iii) At 20:10, Israeli forces raided Marah Rabah village, stormed a home and inspected surveillance camera footage.
(iv) At 20:10, Israeli forces raided Za’tara town, stormed a home and a farm then inspected surveillance camera footage and withdrew at 21:50.
(v) At 20:50, Israeli forces raided Jinata town, set up a checkpoint, stormed a Pharmacy and inspected surveillance camera footage then withdrew at 21:15.
(vi) At 00:45, Israeli forces raided Al-Khader town, stormed and searched a home and handed out leaflets warning residents of stone throwing.
(vii) At 00:50, Israeli forces raided Teqou’ town stormed and searched several merchant shops and inspected surveillance camera footage then withdrew at 05:35.
(viii) At dawn on May 23rd 2016, Israeli forces raided Bethlehem city and detained a resident.

Attack

At 09:35, Israeli forces positioned in the vicinity of Billal Bin Rabah Mosque located in North Bethlehem fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

Detention

(i) Israeli forces positioned at the west entrance of Teqou’ detained Rateb Mahmoud Al-Amour.
(ii) Israeli forces positioned in Bethlehem city detained Malik Salah Daoud Al-Qaddi.

HEBRON

Closure

(i) The Israeli army continues to close Al-Sahleh and Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighbourhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed.
(ii) Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the bypass road connecting Bani Na’im and Zif village junction with dirt mounds.
(iii) The Israeli Army continues to close the entrance of Beit Ummar (located near the local Cemetery) with dirt mounds.

Military Checkpoints

At 09:45, Israeli forces closed Abu Al-Rish checkpoint in the old city of Hebron and impeded the free flow of traffic {for the alleged throwing of a Fire bomb towards a military watch tower in the area}.

Flying Checkpoints

At 09:35, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Fuwar camp then searched residents and vehicles until 10:30.

Raid

At 01:50, Israeli forces raided Bani Na’im town until 04:00.

Attack

At 18:50, Israeli forces positioned near Al-Arub camp fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

Settlers Violence

At 19:40, Israeli settlers stormed Al-Shuhada road in the old city of Hebron and attacked 2 homes owned by Al-Sayed and Tahboub families then withdrew under the protection of Israeli Military forces.

GAZA STRIP

ALL DISTRICTS

• Since 19:00 on August 26th 2014, Palestinian Gunmen and the Israeli military agreed to a cease fire agreement (brokered by the Arab Republic of Egypt) which includes the opening of border crossings to allow the entry of emergency supplies and humanitarian goods as well as construction material and agreed to increase the fishing limit to 6 nautical miles with possibility of increase to 12 nautical miles by the end of the year and to decrease the Military area to 100 meters, allow freedom of movement and a halt to targeted killings and assassinations and negotiations will be held for discussion on rebuilding the sea port and airports in the coming month.

• The Israeli Military broke the ceasefire agreement by opening fire from their positions behind the Green Line towards Khan Yunis.

• Israeli Naval vessels broke the ceasefire agreement by opening fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of North Gaza

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

Beit Hanun (Erez) is open for the passage of critical patients, journalists, NGO staff, businesspersons and passengers travelling abroad through Al-Karama crossing with previous coordination.

Attack

At 10:20 on May 22nd 2016, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Al-Waha area located in North West Beit Lahiya town.

GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

(i) Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
(ii) Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.

KHAN YUNIS

Attack

At 08:00 on May 22nd 2016, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Khaz’aa town.

RAFAH

Closure of Crossing Points

(i) Yasser ‘Arafat International Airport remains closed.
(ii) Rafah (Al ‘Awdah) Crossing is closed
