WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure

(i) On May 21 st 2016, The Israeli army intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
(iii) The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint.

Military Checkpoints

(i) Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
(ii) On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu ‘fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall

Raid

At 22:30, Israeli forces raided Al-Eizariya town until 04:15.

Attack

At 22:00, Israeli forces positioned near Al-Ram town junction fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Slewahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem IDs to cross, after subjecting them to thorough searches using electronic devices.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages
(ii) Since 24:00 on February 14th 2016, closed the main road near the entrance of “Bet El” settlement which leads to Al-Jalazoun camp with cement block.

Flying Checkpoints

At 12:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Atarah town bridge , temporarily detained Nisreen Yacoub Taha (A resident of Bidya town in Salfit) then released her at a later time.

JENIN

Closure

Since December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area and declared the area a closed military zone.

Closure of main Roads

The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the road leading to the town of ‘Arraba east of the illegal settlement Dotan.

Closure of Wall Gates

Israeli forces continue to close the wall gate and only allow those holding special permits to enter through it.

TUBAS

Closure of main Roads

Since 12:30 on March 15th 2016, Israeli forces closed the east entrance of Al-Aqaba village with cement blocks.

TULKAREM

Military Checkpoints

Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at “Eniv” checkpoint located along the main road connecting Tulkarem and Nablus and impeded the free flow of traffic.

QALQILIYA

Closure of Roads

(i) Israeli forces continue to close with cement blocks agricultural roads east of Azzun town.
(ii) In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
(iii) Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 12:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Hablah tunnel leading to the east entrance of Qalqiliya city then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 16:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Kafr Thulth town then searched residents and vehicles.

Physical Assault

At 01:30 on May 21st 2016, Israeli forces assaulted Samih Yusef Yamin and as a result left him hospitalized with contusions during their raid into Jit village as mentioned in the previous report.

Demonstrations

At 18:15, a demonstration took place in Kafr Qaddum against the closure of the east entrance during which they clashed with Israeli forces tried to disrupt the demonstration by firing live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards demonstrators who attempted to reach they demonstration site and as a result injured Aweis Abdel-Razaq Hamour with contusions after he was struck by a tear gas grenade canister as well as leaving several other residents suffocating from tear gas inhalation.

Closure of Wall Gates

NABLUS

Closure

Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the northern entrance to Qabalan town; the southern entrances to the town of Jamma’in and the villages of Duma and Qaryut.
(ii) Since 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds.
(iii) Since 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area.

Military Checkpoints

At 21:15, Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Beit Furik checkpoint, impeded the free flow of traffic, temporarily detained 4 residents: Qassim Nafith Abu Ghneim, Musa Nafith Abu Ghneim,Tamer Nafith Abu Ghneim and Muntasir Nafith Abu Ghneim {All resident of Beit Dajjan town} after stopping their vehicle then released them at 22:00.

Temporary Detention

Israeli forces temporarily detained 4 residents: Qassim Nafith Abu Ghneim, Musa Nafith Abu Ghneim,Tamer Nafith Abu Ghneim and Muntasir Nafith Abu Ghneim {All resident of Beit Dajjan town} after stopping their vehicle then released them at 22:00.

At 19:25, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint along Al-Bithan road which leads to the east entrance of Nablus city then searched residents and vehicles until 21:20.

At 18:00, Israeli forces raided Huwara town and occupied a home owned by Mustafa Al-Haj Ali then converted the rooftop into a military post.

Detention

At 01:05 on May 21st 2016, Israeli forces detained Anas Khader Sadat after storming and searching his home and merchant shop as they raided Nablus city as mentioned in the previous report.

Land Confiscation

On May 21st 2016, Israeli forces served the village council of Tel village a military order for for the confiscation of approximately 7 dunums (acres) of land in the area between Tel village and Duma village junction for alleged Military purposes.

Settlers Violence

At 17:50, Israeli settlers stormed Khirbiet Yanoun area located in south east Beit Furiq town then withdrew under the protection of the Israeli Military.

SALFIT

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the entrance to two detour roads connecting Marda village to its farmland.
(ii) Since 11:00 on July 30th 2012, Israeli forces have closed two roads leading to Abu Nasar and Qatan Al-Jama’ located in western area of Deir Istiya with cement blocks.

At 18:45, Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Za’tara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic until 19:55.

Flying Checkpoints

At 10:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Qarwat Bani Hassan town then searched residents and vehicles.

Detention

At 12:50, Israeli forces positioned at Za’tara checkpoint detained Thamin Abdel-Fattah Mahmoud Salawdah (A resident of Duma village in Nablus District).

JERICHO

Military Checkpoints

Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District.

Flying Checkpoints

At 19:05, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the Dead Sea junction then searched residents and vehicles until 20:45.

Detention

(i) At 10:40, Israeli forces positioned at Allenby bridge detained Mohammad Ahamd Mahmoud Khader (A resident of Bal’a village in Tulkarem district) as he was returning from Jordan.
(ii) At 18:30, Israeli forces positioned at Allenby bridge detained Rafiq Tawfiq Abu Affifa (A resident of Hebron city).

BETHLEHEM

Closure

(i) The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
(ii) Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities.

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds.
(ii) Since 10:45 on September 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the agricultural road located in Arab Al-Rashaydeh village located near “Malee Amous” settlement with dirt mounds.
(iii) Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 20:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Marah Rabah village then searched residents and vehicles until 21:45.
(ii) At 20:45, Israeli force set up a checkpoint at the west entrance of Beit Fajjar then searched residents and vehicles until 22:00.
(iii) At 23:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the North entrance of Teqou’ town then searched residents and vehicles until 00:10

Raid

(i) At 20:35, Israeli forces raided Nihalin village until 21:00.
(ii) At 01:45, Israeli forces raided Beit Fajjar town, stormed and searched a home and 2 Marble & Granit mills.
(iii) At 02:45, Israeli forces raided Marah Rabah village and summoned Ibrahim Samih Thawabteh to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.

Demonstrations

At 12:00, a demonstration took place in Za’tara town protesting against the Israeli Military confiscation of land for the purpose of settlement expansion.

HEBRON

Closure

(i) The Israeli army continues to close Al-Shuhada’ Street, Al-Sahleh and Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighbourhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed.
(ii) Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the bypass road connecting Bani Na’im and Zif village junction with dirt mounds.
(iii) The Israeli Army continues to close the entrance of Beit Ummar (located near the local Cemetery) with dirt mounds.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 10:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Al-Thahriya town junction then searched residents and vehicles until 11:00.
(ii) At 15:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Fuwar camp, detained 2 residents including a child then withdrew at 18:00.

Raid

At 23:25, Israeli forces raided Sa’ir town, set up checkpoints at its entrances and roads, stormed and searched several homes and merchant shops, clashed with several residents then withdrew at 05:40.

Detention

Israeli forces detained 2 resident’s including a child: Shihab Al-Najjar (17 years old) and Shaher Abu Fadah {both residents of Al-Fuwar camp).

GAZA STRIP

ALL DISTRICTS

• Since 19:00 on August 26th 2014, Palestinian Gunmen and the Israeli military agreed to a cease fire agreement (brokered by the Arab Republic of Egypt) which includes the opening of border crossings to allow the entry of emergency supplies and humanitarian goods as well as construction material and agreed to increase the fishing limit to 6 nautical miles with possibility of increase to 12 nautical miles by the end of the year and to decrease the Military area to 100 meters, allow freedom of movement and a halt to targeted killings and assassinations and negotiations will be held for discussion on rebuilding the sea port and airports in the coming month.

• The Israeli Military broke the ceasefire agreement by opening fire from their positions behind the Green Line towards Khan Yunis.

• Israeli Naval vessels broke the ceasefire agreement by opening fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of North Gaza and Gaza.

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

Beit Hanun (Erez) is closed.

Attack

At 05:30 and 08:00 on May 22nd 2016, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Al-Waha area located in North West Beit Lahiya town {In 2 separate incidents} and detained 10 fishermen as well as confiscating 5 fishing boats.

Detention

Israeli forces detained 10 fishermen: Rasim Izhaq Zayed, Mohammad Izhaq Zayed, Saqer Yunis Zayed, Ayman Yunis Zayed, Assad Mohammad Al-Sultan, Khaled Mahmoud Zayed, Mahmoud Ahmad Al-Sultan, Ayman Mahmoud Al-Sultan, Ahmad Mohammad Zayed and Ibrahim Mohammad Zayed.

GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

(i) Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
(ii) Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.

Attack

At 08:30 on May 21st 2016, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Gaza city.

KHAN YUNIS

Attack

(i) At 08:40 on May 21st 2016, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Khaz’aa town.
(ii) At 09:10 on May 21st 2016, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Al-Qarara town.
(iii) At 06:55 on May 21st 2016, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Khaz’aa town.

RAFAH

Closure of Crossing Points

(i) Yasser ‘Arafat International Airport remains closed.
