Daily Report January 22, 2016

WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure

(i) On January 21st 2016, the Israeli army, intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers under the age of 50 from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
(iii) The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint.
(iii) On November 16th 2015, Israeli forces closed the south entrance of Jabal Al-Mukabir neighbourhood in Jerusalem, which leads to “Armon Hantsiv” settlement with cement blocks.

Closure of Checkpoints

(i) Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
(ii) On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu’fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall.

Raid

At dawn on January 22nd 2016, Israeli forces raided Kafr Aqab village and Qalandiya camp and stormed several homes and detained a resident in Qalandiya camp.

Detention

Israeli forces detained Rajab Ammar Imteir in Qalandiya camp.

Temporary Detention

At 14:00, Israeli forces positioned near Beit Ur village temporarily detained the child Mohammad Annad (14 years old) for allegedly finding a Knife in his possession then released him at 22:30.

Obstruction of Places of Worship

At 09:00, a group of Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli Military and Police forces stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem and provoked worshipers.

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Slewahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem IDs to cross, after subjecting them to thorough searches using electronic devices.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages
(ii) . On October 3rd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road located near “Bet El” settlement and leading to Al-Jalazoun camp with cement blocks.
(iii) Since November 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed the main entrance of Sinjil and the east entrance of Al-Mughier village with cement blocks.
(iv) At 18:50 on December 4th 2015, Israeli forces closed the main entrance of Abboud with cement blocks.
(v) On December 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed the West entrance of Al-Labban Al-Gharbi village with cement blocks.

Raid

(i) At 10:50, Israeli forces raided Al-Bireh city until 14:35.
(ii) At 20:00, Israeli forces raided Beitin village, clashed with several residents as they stormed a home and opened fire towards a vehicle owned by Inad Shaja’iya and as a result punctured his tires then withdrew at 22:30.
(iii) At 22:15, Israeli forces raided Ein Qinya village, clashed with several residents and as a result left 2 residents: Suha Atta Al-Qam and Fatima Abdel-Rahman Alqam suffocated from tear gas inhalation then withdrew at 23:30.
(iv) At 01:55, Israeli forces raided Al-Mazra’a Al-Gharbiya village then stormed and searched a home.
(v) At 02:50, Israeli forces raided Abu Shukhidium village, stormed a home and summoned Fareed Mohammad Shireteh to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.

JENIN

Closure

On December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area and declared the area a closed military zone

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the road leading to the town of ‘Arraba east of the illegal settlement Dotan.
(ii) Since the evening of November 25th 2012, Israeli forces closed the western entrance of Ya’bad.

Flying Checkpoints

At 10:55, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the east entrance of Ya’bad then searched residents and vehicles until 12:30.

Detention

At 02:35 on January 21st 2016, Israeli forces detained Mohammad Abdel-Qadder Fayez Mansour during their raid into Jenin.

Closure of Wall Gates

Israeli forces continue too close the wall gate and only allow those holding special permits to enter through it.

TULKAREM

Closure of Checkpoints

At 08:35, Israeli forces continue to intensify their restrictions at “Eniv” checkpoint located along the main road connecting Tulkarem and Nablus and impeded the free flow of traffic until 10:15.

Flying Checkpoints

At 18:35, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Quffin then searched residents and vehicles until 00:50.

Raid

(i) At 20:35, Israeli forces raided Baqa Al-Sharqiya, clashed with several residents then withdrew at 23:30.
(ii) At 21:10, Israeli forces raided Attil, clashed with several residents then withdrew at 23:30.
(iii) At 02:55, Israeli forces raided Tulkarem until 03:40.

Settlers Violence

At 11:20, Israeli settlers from “Avnei Hefetz” stormed Shufa village and levelled a plot of land owned by Waheed Ahmad Mohammad then withdrew under the protection of Israeli forces.

QALQILIYA

Closure of Roads

(i) Israeli forces continue to close with cement blocks agricultural roads east of Azzun town.
(ii) In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
(iii) Since 16:55 on December 18th 2014, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with dirt mounds
(iv) Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate

Flying Checkpoints

At 19:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area between Jayyous and Azzoun then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

At 15:00, Israeli forces raided Jayyous, clashed with several residents and again at 2:30 clashed with residents and as a result left Sahar Shweikat suffocated from tear gas inhalation then withdrew at 00:10.

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to restrict access at ‘Azzun ‘Atma Wall gate and impeded the free flow of traffic. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the entrance to the village of Wadi Al- Rasha and to deny civilian access.
(ii) The Israeli army allows residents to access the village through Gate #109. Having removed the gate at the entrance to the village of Ras Atiya; the Israeli army only allows students to cross to their schools outside the village through the Habla gate.

NABLUS

Closure

Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the roads of Til-Burin and Beit Furik-Salem; the settler bypass road connecting the village of Deir al Hatab to the settlement of Alon Moreh; the road connecting the town of ‘Aqraba to the village of Osrin; and the detour road between the town of Qabalan and the village of Osrin.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the northern entrance to Qabalan town; the southern entrances to the town of Jamma’in and the villages of Duma and Qaryut.
(iii) At 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds.
(iv) On November 29th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Burin, Awarta and Osirin as well as the agricultural bypass road connecting Aqraba and Qabalan village with dirt mounds.
(v) At 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area.
(vi) At 18:30 on January 19th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Huwara and Walada village with dirt mounds

Raid

At 10:15, Israeli forces raided Orif village, clashed with several residents and as a result injured 3 residents then withdrew at 13:55.

Detention

At 00:30, Israeli forces positioned at Za’tara junction detained Ahmad Musa Daoud Aqra’ (A resident of Qabalan village).

Temporary Detention

: At 19:05, Israeli forces positioned along the by pass road leading to Breit Furiq temporarily detained Ziyad Bani Shamasneh then released him at 20:50.

SALFIT

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the entrance to two detour roads connecting Marda village to its farmland.
(ii) On 15.04.2012, the Israeli army has opened the northern entrance to Salfit city to civilian which was closed since the year 2000 and prevented access from 08:00 until 09:20.
(iii) Since 11:00 on July 30th 2012, Israeli forces have closed two roads leading to Abu Nasar and Qatan Al-Jama’ located in western area of Deir Istiya with cement blocks.

Closure of Checkpoints

Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Za’tara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic

Raid

At 14:00, Israeli forces raided Kafr Al-Dik until 15:00.

JERICHO

Closure of Checkpoints

Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District.

Flying Checkpoints

At 16:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the south entrance of Jericho searching residents and vehicles until 18:15.

Temporary Detention

: At 15:55, Israeli forces positioned at Allenby bridge temporarily detained Majd Ma’moun Khalil (A Palestinian Police Officer) {a resident of Kafr Ra’I village in Jenin} then released him at 16:35.

BETHLEHEM

Closure

(i) The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
(ii) Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the road leading to “Newe Daniyyel” settlement and agricultural land in Al-Khader; a road between Um Tuba and Wadi Al-Hums: Wadi Fukin, Al-Jaba, the Green Line; a road between Za’tara and a detour road, and a road between Taqou and Khirbet Al-Deir with cement blocks.
(iii) Since August 2nd 2012, Israeli forces closed a road leading to Beit Jalla.
(iv) Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires.
(v) Since June 3rd 2013, the Israeli army closed the road connecting Nihalin and road 60 with dirt mounds.
(vi) Since 13:20 on September 29th 2013, the Israeli army closed a road leading to 50 acres of agricultural land in Wadi Salem area in Al-Khadr with dirt mounds.
(vii) Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Surif and Al-Jub’a village with dirt mounds.
(viii) On January 28th 2014, Israeli forces closed the steel gate at the entrance of Nihalin { replacing the dirt mounds placed at the entrance since the year 2002} and placed time schedule for opening the gate from 06:00 until 14:00 on a daily bases.
(ix) Since 10:45 on September 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the agricultural road located in Arab Al-Rashaydeh village located near “Malee Amous” settlement with dirt mounds.

Flying Checkpoints

At 17:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the West entrance of Beit Fajjar then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

At 10:15, Israeli forces raided Al-Khadr until 12:00.

HEBRON

Closure

(i) The Israeli army continues to close Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighbourhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed.
(ii) Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the entrances Al-Karmil villages.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City.
(iii) The Israeli army continues to close all roads leading to Road # 60 as well as detour roads along the settler bypass road leading to Yatta town.
(iv) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds a detour road leading to e to Al-Simiya village, the southern entrance of Al-Samou’ and the entrance of Beit Annun with cement blocks.
(v) At 05:50 on November 5th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance leading Farsh Al-Hawa area in Hebron with Cement blocks.
(vi) At 10:30 on November 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the junction located near “Hagi” settlement located in south Hebron with cement blocks.
(vii) At 21:00 on November 11th 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Beit Awwa and Al-Majd village with cement block and dirt mounds.
(viii) At 15:45 on November 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed Al-Samiya village junction located at the west entrance of Al-Samou’ with cement blocks.
(ix) On November 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrances of Khliat Al-Miya and Al Dirat and the 2 bypass roads leading east Ytta with cement blocks.
(x) On November 23rd 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Al-Qom village located in North Beit Awwa with Cement blocks.
(xi) On December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed a checkpoint located along Al-Shuhada road located in the old city of Hebron and prevented residents from passing through the checkpoint and redirected traffic through a road near the entrance of Jabal Al-Rahma.
(xii) On December 9th 2015, Israeli forces closed a road near Jabal Jallis area located in the old city of Hebron and closed the bypass road.
(xiii) At 12:50 on January 18th 2016, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Beit Amrah and Karmah villages with dirt mounds.
(xiv) At 18:50 on January 21st 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road leading to Yatta with earth mounds.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 11:45, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the North entrance of Hebron city then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 19:35, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Huwar area located at the North entrance of Halhoul then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

(i) At 13:00, Israeli forces raided Bani Na’im, stormed the headquarters of the Palestinian Civil Defence forces and temporarily detained Mahmoud Jawad Abdel-Hameed Al-Wawi then released him at a later time.
(ii) At 18:20, Israeli forces raided the south area of Hebron and clashed with several residents as they stormed several homes.

Detention

(i) At dawn on January 20th 2016, Israeli forces detained Basil Mohammad Hussien Ghanimat during their raid into Beit Surif as mentioned in the previous report.
(ii) On the evening of January 21st 2016, Israeli forces detained 2 residents including a child: Faysal Al-Badawi and Osama Al-Badawi (17 years old) after storming their home in Al-Fah’s area located in south Hebron

Temporary Detention

At 15:40, Israeli forces temporarily detained 3 children: Hassan Hamidat (12 years old), Faysal Hamidat (13 years old) and Alaa Hamidat (12 years old) as they were herding their sheep in Al-Masafar area located in east Yatta.

Land Levelling

On January 21st 2016, Israeli forces stormed Beit Ola and levelled a plot of land {15 dunum} located near the wall gate and uprooted and destroyed agricultural crops on 70 m2 of land and also demolished a water well owned by Khaled Mahmoud Aqel.

Settlers Violence

At 14:55, a group of Israeli settlers stormed the area near Al-Ibrahimi mosque in the old city of Hebron and attacked 2 homes in an attempt to seize them during which Israeli forces fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents as they attempted to prevent the settler attack and as a result left several residents suffocated from tear gas inhalation then withdrew On January 22nd 2016.

GAZA STRIP

ALL DISTRICTS

• At 19:00 on August 26th 2014, Palestinian Gunmen and the Israeli military agreed to a cease fire agreement (brokered by the Arab Republic of Egypt) which includes the opening of border crossings to allow the entry of emergency supplies and humanitarian goods as well as construction material and agreed to increase the fishing limit to 6 nautical miles with possibility of increase to 12 nautical miles by the end of the year and to decrease the Military area to 100 meters, allow freedom of movement and a halt to targeted killings and assassinations and negotiations will be held for discussion on rebuilding the sea port and airports in the coming month.
• Israeli forces broke the ceasefire agreement by opening fire from their positions behind the Green Line towards Khan Yunis and Rafah
• Israeli Naval vessels broke the ceasefire agreement by opening fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of North Gaza and Rafah.

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

Beit Hanun (Erez) is open for the passage of critical patients, journalists, NGO staff, businessmen and passengers travelling abroad through Al-Karama crossing with previous coordination.

Attack

(i) At 09:30 on January 20th 2016, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Al-Sudaniya area located in west Beit Lahiya.
(ii) At 20:30 on January 20th 2016, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Al-Sudaniya area located in west Beit Lahiya.
(iii) At 23:30 on January 21st 2016, January 20th 2016, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Al-Sudaniya area located in west Beit Lahiya.

GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

(i) Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
(ii) Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.

KHAN YUNIS

Attack

(i) At 17:30 on January 20th 2016, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Al-Qarara.
(ii) At 10:00 on January 21st 2016, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Khaz’aa.

RAFAH

Closure of Crossing Points

(i) Yasser ‘Arafat International Airport remains closed.
(ii) Rafah (Al ‘Awdah) Crossing is closed
(iii) Sufa Crossing is closed
(iv) Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing open for the entry of tourist and foreign diplomats and the entry of Humanitarian assistance and construction material funded by UNRWA.

Attack

(i) At 09:45, Israeli Naval vessels opened fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Rafah city.
(ii) At 10:20, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards several farmers in the vicinity of Sufa Crossing located in North east Rafah.
