Daily Report April 20, 2016

WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure

(i) On April 19th 2016, the Israeli army, intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
(iii) The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint.

Military Checkpoints

(i) Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
(ii) On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu ‘fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall.

Raid

(i) At 21:30, Israeli forces raided Hizma village.
(ii) At 23:00, Israeli forces raided Al-Eisawiya village, stormed and searched several homes, summoned 2 residents: Musa Obied and Mohammad Obied to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.
(iii) At 02:00, Israeli forces raided Qalandiya camp, demolished the interior walls of a home owned by the family of Hussien Abu Ghos {Who was killed by Israeli forces} during which they clashed with several residents and as a result injured 8 residents and detained 2 others.

Attack

At 08:30, Israeli forces positioned in Ras Al-Amoud neighborhood fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning and as a result injured Sufiyan Al-Atrash {with an eye injury}.

Detention

(i) At 10:00, Israeli forces detained 2 residents: Mohammad Washi’ Mina and Ahmad Tallal Mina in Al-Sa’ydeh neighborhood in the old city of Jerusalem.
(ii) At 19:00, Israeli forces detained Mu’taz Abu Jamal in Jabal Al-Mukabir neighbourhood in Jerusalem.

Obstruction of Places of Worship

At 10:00, Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli Military and Police forces stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem and provoked worshipers

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Slewahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem IDs to cross, after subjecting them to thorough searches using electronic devices.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages
(ii) At 24:00 on February 14th 2016, closed the main road near the entrance of “Bet El” settlement which leads to Al-Jalazoun camp with cement blocks for alleged gunfire.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 08:05, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Sinjil then searched residents and vehicles
(ii) At 15:15 and again at 23:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Atarah bridge then searched residents and vehicles until 24:00.
(iii) At 21:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Rawabi city junction then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

At 01:10, Israeli forces raided Bir Ziet town until 06:40.

Detention

(i) At 08:30, Israeli forces detained Othman Shalash (A resident of Shuqba village).
(ii) At 08:35, Israeli forces detained Mahmoud Othman Mahmoud Al-Masri near Shuqba village for allegedly attempting to run over a Israeli soldier.

Settlers Violence

At 22:55, Israeli settlers positioned near Eiyoun Al-Haramiya area junction located along the main road connecting Ramallah and Nablus stoned residents and vehicles.

JENIN

Closure

On December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area and declared the area a closed military zone.

Closure of main Roads

The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the road leading to the town of ‘Arraba east of the illegal settlement Dotan.

Flying Checkpoints

At 17:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Hadad Al-Siyahiya village then searched residents and vehicles until 20:10.

Detention

At 16:10, Israeli forces detained Ahmad Mahmoud Maqalda (A resident of Zabuba village.

Closure of Wall Gates

Israeli forces continue to close the wall gate and only allow those holding special permits to enter through it.

TUBAS

Closure of main Roads

Since 12:30 on March 15th 2016, Israeli forces closed the east entrance of Al-Aqaba village with cement blocks.

Flying Checkpoints

At 17:20.Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at “Migola” settlement junction located in the North Jordan Valley area then searched residents and vehicles until 18:00.

TULKAREM

Military Checkpoints

At 14:00, Israeli forces continue to intensify their restrictions at “Eniv” checkpoint located along the main road connecting Tulkarem and Nablus and impeded the free flow of traffic until 15:45.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 10:45, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Jurashiya village then searched residents and vehicles until 11:45.
(ii) At 13:25, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Bazariya village junction located in east Anabta town then searched residents and vehicles until 14:00.

Raid

At 02:40, Israeli forces raided Far’oun village, stormed and searched a home, detained a resident then withdrew at 05:50.

Detention

Israeli forces detained Munir Na’im Mahmoud Adwan in Far’oun village.

QALQILIYA

Closure of Roads

(i) Israeli forces continue to close with cement blocks agricultural roads east of Azzun town.
(ii) In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
(iii) Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate.

Flying Checkpoints

At 08:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the east entrance of Qalqiliya city then searched residents and vehicles until 12:00.

Detention

At 16:50, Israeli forces detained Mohammad Majed Abdel-Mo’men Jum’a (A resident of Kafr Qaddum village) as he was reporting to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to restrict access at ‘Azzun ‘Atma Wall gate and impeded the free flow of traffic. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the entrance to the village of Wadi Al- Rasha and to deny civilian access.
(ii) The Israeli army allows residents to access the village through Gate #109. Having removed the gate at the entrance to the village of Ras Atiya; the Israeli army only allows students to cross to their schools outside the village through the Habla gate.

NABLUS

Closure

Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the northern entrance to Qabalan town; the southern entrances to the town of Jamma’in and the villages of Duma and Qaryut.
(ii) Since 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds.
(iii) Since 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area.
(iv) Since 18:30 on January 19th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Huwara and Walada village with dirt mounds.

Flying Checkpoints

At 21:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area between Qusra and Al-Jarushiya villages then searched residents and vehicles until 22:20.

Raid

At 07:40, Israeli forces raided Al-Labban Al-Sharqiya village and occupied a home owned by Ihsan Hassan Daraghmeh and converted its rooftop into a military post.

SALFIT

Military Checkpoints

Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District.

Raid

At 04:35, Israeli forces raided Al-Zubidat village and detained a resident.

Detention

(i) At 22:20, Israeli forces positioned at Allenby bridge detained Ameer Hashim Qadus (A resident of Burin village in Nablus district) as he was travelling to Jordan.
(ii) Israeli forces detained Eyad Mohammad Abd Zabidat in Al-Zubidat village.

JERICHO

Military Checkpoints

Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District.

Raid

At 04:35, Israeli forces raided Al-Zubidat village and detained a resident.

Detention

(i) At 22:20, Israeli forces positioned at Allenby bridge detained Ameer Hashim Qadus (A resident of Burin village in Nablus district) as he was travelling to Jordan.
(ii) Israeli forces detained Eyad Mohammad Abd Zabidat in Al-Zubidat village.

BETHLEHEM

Closure

(i) The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
(ii) Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds.
(ii) Since 10:45 on September 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the agricultural road located in Arab Al-Rashaydeh village located near “Malee Amous” settlement with dirt mounds.
(iii) Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires.
(iv) At 09:15 on February 16th 2016, Israeli forces closed the bypass road connecting Za’tara and Ush Al-Ghurab area located in east Beit Sahur town with dirt mounds.
(v) On February 25th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main entrance gate leading to Um Al-Rakaba area in Al-Khader.
(vi) At 22:40 on March 17th 2016, Israeli forces closed all entrances of Beit Fajjar town and prevented residents from entering or exiting the town.
(vii) At 12:25 on March 18th 2016, Israeli forces closed the north entrance of Marah Rabah village which leads to Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 09:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the west entrance of Beit Fajjar town then searched residents and vehicles until 09:40.
(ii) At 12:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Al-Nashash junction located at the south entrance of Bethlehem then searched residents and vehicles until 16:00.

Raid

On the evening of April 19th 2016, Israeli forces raided Al-Aydah camp in Bethlehem for the alleged detonation of a handmade explosive device), clashed with several residents as they apprehended several other residents and again at 04:25 on April 20th 2016, Israeli forces raided the camp and detonated a resident after storming and searching his home.

Detention

(i) At 22:10, Israeli forces positioned at the west entrance of Beit Fajjar town detained 2 children: Mohammad Fayiz Taqatqa (15 years old) and Wissam Jamal Fakhri Taqatqa (16 years old).
(ii) Israeli forces detained Ahmad Mohammad Al-Mashayikh in Al-Ayda camp located in Bethlehem city.

Temporary Detention

(i) At 22:10, Israeli forces positioned at the west entrance of Beit Fajjar town detained 2 children: Mohammad Fayiz Taqatqa (15 years old) and Wissam Jamal Fakhri Taqatqa (16 years old).
(ii) Israeli forces detained Ahmad Mohammad Al-Mashayikh in Al-Ayda camp located in Bethlehem city.

Attack

At 21:15, Israeli forces positioned in the vicinity of Billal Biun Rabah mosque in North Bethlehem fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

HEBRON

Closure

(i) The Israeli army continues to close Al-Shuhada’ Street, Al-Sahleh and Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighbourhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed.
(ii) Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the bypass road connecting Bani Na’im and Zif village junction with dirt mounds.
(iii) The Israeli Army continues to close the entrance of Beit Ummar (located near the local Cemetery) with dirt mounds.
(iv) At 14:30 on April 15th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main entrance road leading to Al-Aroub camp with dirt mounds.

Raid

(i) At dawn on April 19th 2016, Israeli forces raided Beit Awwa town and detained a resident.
(ii) At dawn on April 19th 2016, Israeli forces raided Al-Thahriya town and detained 5 residents.

Detention

(i) At 15:00, Israeli forces positioned near the wall gate detained Tariq Taysir Husni Masalha (A resident of Hajja village in Qalqiliya) as he attempted to climb the wall to enter Israel looking for work inside the Green Line.
(ii) Israeli forces detained Abdel-Raheem Mahmoud Awad in Beit Awwa.
(iii) Israeli forces detained 5 resiednts: Ibrahim Kareem Makhaz’a, Ammar Muhanad Samamrah, Nayef Mohammad Ismail Makhaz’a, Loai Mohammad Ismail Makhaz’a and Farraj Hussien Khalil Shukiya in Al-Thahriya.

GAZA STRIP

ALL DISTRICTS

• At 19:00 on August 26th 2014, Palestinian Gunmen and the Israeli military agreed to a cease fire agreement (brokered by the Arab Republic of Egypt) which includes the opening of border crossings to allow the entry of emergency supplies and humanitarian goods as well as construction material and agreed to increase the fishing limit to 6 nautical miles with possibility of increase to 12 nautical miles by the end of the year and to decrease the Military area to 100 meters, allow freedom of movement and a halt to targeted killings and assassinations and negotiations will be held for discussion on rebuilding the sea port and airports in the coming month.

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

Beit Hanun (Erez) is open for the passage of critical patients, journalists, NGO staff, businesspersons and passengers travelling abroad through Al-Karama crossing with previous coordination.

Detention

(i) On the morning of April 7th 2016, Israeli forces positioned in east Jabaliya detained the child: Omar Abdel-Bari Abu Al-Fol (17 years old){A resident of Beit Lahiya} as he was attempting to climb the border fence into Israel.
(ii) On April 18th 2016, Israeli forces positioned at Beit Hanun (Erez) crossing point detained Mahmoud Sa’id Abu Al-Fol (19 years old) {A resident of Jabaliya camp} as he was reporting to Boarder Security officers at the crossing point in order to obtain a permit to enter the West bank for treatment at a hospital in Nablus city.

GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

(i) Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
(ii) Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.

RAFAH

Closure of Crossing Points

(i) Yasser ‘Arafat International Airport remains closed.
(ii) Rafah (Al ‘Awdah) Crossing is closed
(iii) Sufa Crossing is closed
(iv) Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing is open for the entry Humanitarian assistance.
