Daily Report March 20, 2016

WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure
  • On March 19th 2016, the Israeli army, intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers under the age of 50 from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
  • The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
  • The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.
Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint.

Military Checkpoints

(i) Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
(ii) On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu ‘fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 10:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Hizma village then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 17:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Shu’fat then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

At 18:30, Israeli forces raided Al-Jadera village and detained a child.

Detention

(i) At 17:00, Israeli forces positioned in Beit Hanina detained Baha Al-Din Khalid Sahwel (A resident of Abwein town in Ramallah and Al-Bireh District) for allegedly entering Jerusalem without a permit.
(ii) Israeli forces detained the child: Naji Mahmoud Azam (17 years old) in Al-Jaderah village.

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Slewahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem IDs to cross, after subjecting them to thorough searches using electronic devices.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages
  • At 24:00 on February 14th 2016, closed the main road near the entrance of “Bet El” settlement which leads to Al-Jalazoun camp with cement blocks for alleged gunfire.
Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 09:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Beit Ur Al-Foqa then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 13:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Beit Rima then searched residents and vehicles.
(iii) At 19:55, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the west entrance of Silwad then searched residents and vehicles until 20:40.
(iv) At 21:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Um Safa village then searched residents and vehicles.
(v) At 22:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Kafr Ein village then searched residents and vehicles until 02:30

Raid

(i) At 19:55, Israeli forces raided Khirbithat Al-Misbah village, clashed with several residents then withdrew at 20:20.
(ii) At 21:15, Israeli forces raided Al-Nabi Saleh village clashed with several residents and as a result injured Qais Mohammad Sarhan.

JENIN

Closure
  • On December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area  {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area  and declared the area a closed military zone.
Closure of main Roads

The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the road leading to the town of ‘Arraba east of the illegal settlement Dotan and the south entrance of Ya’bad.

Raid

(i) At 17:05, Israeli raided Beit Qad village and set up 2 checkpoints.
(ii) On the evening March 19th 2016, Israeli forces raided Ya’bad after closing its entrances with checkpoints during which they clashed with several residents, detained a resident and confiscated a truck.

Closure of Wall Gates

Israeli forces continue too close the wall gate and only allow those holding special permits to enter through it.

TUBAS

Closure of Roads
  • At 12:30 on March 15th 2016, Israeli forces closed the east entrance of Aqaba village with cement blocks.

TULKAREM

Military Checkpoints
  • At 18:15,Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at “Eniv” checkpoint located along the main road connecting Tulkarem and Nablus and impeded the free flow of traffic until 19:50.
Flying Checkpoints

At 18:35, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Quffin town then searched residents and vehicles until 19:05.

Raid

At 06:20, Israeli forces raided Tulkarem city until 06:30.

QALQILIYA

Closure of Roads
  • Israeli forces continue to close with cement blocks agricultural roads east of Azzun town.
  • In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
  • Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate.
Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 08:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area between Jayyus and Azzun then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 15:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the east entrance of Qalqiliya then searched residents and vehicles until 16:10.
(iii) At 18:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Wadi Qana road junction located near Jinsafut village then searched residents and vehicles until 19:30.
(iv) At 18:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Azzun then searched residents and vehicles until 21:25.

Raid

At 02:10, Israeli forces raided Kafr Qaddum village until 03:00

Detention

(i) On March 16th 2016, Israeli forces detained Muhanad Adel Shareem (A resident of Qalqiliya).
(ii) At 19:55 on March 18th 2016, Israeli forces detained Shadi Mohammad Jarrar (A resident of Burqin in Jenin District).

Demonstrations

At 16:00, a demonstration took place in Kafr Qaddum against the closure of the east entrance during which they clashed with Israeli forces tried to disrupt the demonstration by firing live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards demonstrators who attempted to reach they demonstration site left several residents suffocating from tear gas inhalation.

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to restrict access at ‘Azzun ‘Atma Wall gate and impeded the free flow of traffic. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the entrance to the village of Wadi Al- Rasha and to deny civilian access.
(ii) The Israeli army allows residents to access the village through Gate #109. Having removed the gate at the entrance to the village of Ras Atiya; the Israeli army only allows students to cross to their schools outside the village through the Habla gate.

NABLUS

Closure
  • Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area.
Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the roads of Til-Burin and Beit Furik-Salem; the settler bypass road connecting the village of Deir al Hatab to the settlement of Alon Moreh; the road connecting the town of ‘Aqraba to the village of Osrin; and the detour road between the town of Qabalan and the village of Osrin.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the northern entrance to Qabalan town; the southern entrances to the town of Jamma’in and the villages of Duma and Qaryut.
(iii) At 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds.
(iv) On November 29th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Burin, Awarta and Osirin as well as the agricultural bypass road connecting Aqraba and Qabalan village with dirt mounds.
(v) At 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area.
(vi) At 18:30 on January 19th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Huwara and Walada village with dirt mounds.

Military Checkpoints

At 19:20, Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Beit Furiq checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic.

Flying Checkpoints

At 15:10, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Beit Furiq.

Raid

At 17:10, Israeli forces raided Subustiya village until 17:25.

Settlers Violence

At 02:00, a group of Israeli settlers stormed Duma village and set fire to a home and a livestock den owned by Mohammad Ibrahim Dawabsheh {Who is the only witness to the murder of Sa’ed Dawabsheh and his family who were murdered by Israeli settlers) and as a result left Ibrahim Mohammad Ibrahim Dawabsheh suffocated from smoke inhalation and also left his wife Yaqqin Abdel-Qadder Dawabsheh suffering from a nervous breakdown after their bed room was burned down completely and also caused damage to parts of the kitchen and guest rooms during which Israeli forces stormed the area and took photographs of the home.

SALFIT

Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the entrance to two detour roads connecting Marda village to its farmland.
  • Since 11:00 on July 30th 2012, Israeli forces have closed two roads leading to Abu Nasar and Qatan Al-Jama’ located in western area of Deir Istiya with cement blocks.

Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Za’tara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic.

(i) At 20:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Deir Istiya town then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 20:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Deir Ballout town then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

At 11:45, Israeli forces raided Salfit city.

Temporary Detention

At 08:40, Israeli forces positioned at Za’tara junction checkpoint temporarily detained Rami Abdallah Ahmad Hamarnah (A National Security Force Officer) then released him at 09:30.

Land Levelling

At 11:45, Israeli forces stormed Wadi Qana area in Deir Istiya and leveled a plot of land located along the main road.

JERICHO

Military Checkpoints
  • Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District.
Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 14:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the south entrance of Jericho then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 18:05, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Fasayil village then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

At 13:55, Israeli forces raided Al-Oja village.

BETHLEHEM

Closure
  • The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
  • Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities.

  • The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala  ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to  Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds.

  • Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires.
  • At 09:15 on February 16th 2016, Israeli forces closed the bypass road connecting Za’tara and Ush Al-Ghurab area located in east Beit Sahur town with dirt mounds.
  • On February 25th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main steel entrance gate leading to Um Al Rakaba area in Al-Khader town.
  • At 22:40 on March 17th 2016, Israeli forces  closed all entrances leading to Beit Fajjar thus preventing residents or vehicles from entering or exiting.
  • At 12:25 on March 18th 2016, Israeli forces closed the east entrance of Marah Rabah village.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 11:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the west entrance of Husan village then searched residents and vehicles until 16:00.
Raid
  • At 01:00, Israeli forces raided Waddi Fuqqin village and summoned 2 residents: Karam Ibrahim Manasrah and Hazim Khaled Al-Haroub to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.
  • At 01:10, Israeli forces raided Beit Fajjar, stormed and searched 3 homes then withdrew at 04:15
Attack

At 16:15, Israeli forces positioned at the west entrance of Teqou’ fired live ammunition, rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning and as a result injured 3 residents: Malik Jamil Abu Mafrih (17 years old), Khalil Ibrahim Kahlil and Khaled Suliman Ahmad Al-Amour.

HEBRON

Closure
  • The Israeli army continues to close Al-Shuhada’ Street, Al-Sahleh and Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighbourhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed.
  • Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.
Closure of Checkpoints
  • The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City.
  • The Israeli army continues to close the bypass road connecting Bani Na’im and Zif village junction with dirt mounds.
  • The Israeli Army continues to close the entrance of Beit Ummar (located near the local Cemetery) with dirt mounds

  • At 09:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Nabi Yunis area located along the main road connecting Hebron and Bethlehem then searched residents and vehicles until 16:50.
  • At 12:10 and again at 21:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the North entrance of Hebron city (located along bypass road 35 located near Halhoul bridge) then searched residents and vehicles until 23:45.
  • At 21:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Sa’ir town then searched residents and vehicles until 23:45.
Raid
  • At 12:10, Israeli forces raided Al-Thahriya, stormed and searched a home then withdrew at 13:15.
  • At 00:45, Israeli forces raided Dura, stormed several homes, detained a resident after confiscating a Agricultural Tractor.
  • At dawn on March 20th 2015, Israeli forces raided Beit Ummar and summoned 2 residents: Mohammad Munir Khalil and Layth  Nur  Mohammad Al-Alami to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.
Killings
  • At 08:15, the child Abdallah Mohammad Al-Ajoli (18 years old){A resident of Hebron city} was killed after Israeli forces opened fire towards him near “Abu Al-Rish” checkpoint located in the old city of Hebron for allegedly attempting to stab a Israeli soldier {As alleged by the Israeli Military}.
Attack
  • At 20:50, Israeli forces positioned near Al-Aroub camp fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents inside the camp for alleged stoning.
Detention
  • Israeli forces detained Mohammad Mateir Al-Namour in Dura.
GAZA STRIP

ALL DISTRICTS

  • At 19:00 on August 26th 2014, Palestinian Gunmen and the Israeli military agreed to a cease fire agreement (brokered by the Arab Republic of Egypt) which includes the opening of border crossings to allow the entry of emergency supplies and humanitarian goods as well as construction material and agreed to increase the fishing limit to 6 nautical miles with possibility of  increase to 12 nautical miles by the end of the year and to decrease the Military area to 100 meters, allow freedom of movement and a halt to targeted killings and assassinations and negotiations will be held for discussion on rebuilding the sea port and airports in the coming month.
  • Israeli forces broke the cease fire agreement by opening fire from their positions behind the Green Line towards Gaza, Central Gaza, and Khan Yunis.
  • Israeli Naval vessels broke the cease fire agreement by opening fire towards Palestinian fishing boats off the shores of Khan Yunis.

NORTHERN GAZA

  • Beit Hanun (Erez) is closed.

  • Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
  • Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.

  • At 15:10, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Al-Zaytouneh neighbourhood located in east Gaza city
