WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure
  • On March 22nd 2016, the Israeli army, intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
  • The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
  • The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.
Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
  • The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint. 
Military Checkpoints
  • Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
  • On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu ‘fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall.
  • At 19:00, Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Jaba’ checkpoint located along the main road connecting Jerusalem, Ramallah and Jericho and as a result impeded the free flow of traffic.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 15:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the North entrance of Al-Ram town then searched residents and vehicles.
  • At 15:15, Israeli forces set up 2 checkpoints at the east and West entrances of Hizma village and prevented its residents from entering or exiting the village.
  • At 19:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint beneath Qalandiya Village Bridge then searched residents and vehicles
Raid
  • At 11:30, Israeli forces raided Qutna village, clashed with several residents’ as they stormed a home and detained a resident.
  • At 03:20, Israeli forces raided Qalandiya camp, stormed a home and summoned Ahmad Musa Matar to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning then withdrew at 04:15.
  • At 03:40, Israeli forces raided Al-Eizariya and Abu Dis until 06:00.
  • At 04:00, Israeli forces raided Al -Daera village and stormed a home.
Attack
  • At 12:40, Israeli forces positioned near Al-Quds University campus in Abu Dis town fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several resident’s for alleged stoning.
Detention
  • At 03:10 on March 21st 2016, Israeli forces detained the child Zuhier Munthir Shatarah (15 years old) during their raid into Al-Eizariya in addition those mentioned in the previous report.
  • At 08:00, Israeli forces positioned in front of the main gate entrances leading to Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem detained 3 residents: Hamza Nasser Mulhis, Ghayth Nasser Ghayth and Omar Al-Zaghier.
  • At 08:30, Israeli forces positioned at the entrance of Bab Al-Majlis gate the main gate entrances leading to Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem detained Ahmad Sharif Sharabati.
  • At 08:30, Israeli forces positioned at the entrance of Bab Hatta gate the main gate entrances leading to Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem detained Mohammad Thaher Al-Natsha.
  • At 14:35, Israeli forces positioned at the entrance of Bab Hatta gate the main gate entrances leading to Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem detained Husam Thalji Sader.
  • At 18:25, Israeli forces detained Yahya Ahmad Mustafa Taha in Qutna village.
House Demolition
  • At 10:00, Israeli forces stormed Jabal Al-Mukabir neighbourhood and demolished a home {under constriction} owned by Mohammad Jameel Ja’abis for allegedly behind built without a licence.
Obstruction of Places of Worship
  • At 09:00, Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli Military and Police forces stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem and provoked worshipers.
Closure of Wall Gates
  • The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
  • The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Slewahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem IDs to cross, after subjecting them to thorough searches using electronic devices

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages
  • At 24:00 on February 14th 2016, closed the main road near the entrance of “Bet El” settlement which leads to Al-Jalazoun camp with cement blocks for alleged gunfire
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 16:10, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Um Safa village then searched residents and vehicles.
Raid
  • At 08:55, Israeli forces raided Beit Rima, Deir Ghassaneh,Abboud and  Qarwat Bani Zied village, during which they clashed with residents in Beit Rima and detained child Mohammad Azzam then withdrew at 16:00.
  • At 01:20, Israeli forces raided Ramallah city and detained a resident.
  • At 01:35, Israeli forces raided Awarta town, detained 2 residents then withdrew at 04:55.
Detention
  • Israeli forces detained Mohammad Kareem Hamad in Ramallah City.
  • Israeli forces detained 2 residents: Ahmad Mohammad Abdel-Wahed Thiyab and Thaer Kamal Yacoub Al-Nubani in Awrta town

JENIN

Closure
  • On December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area  {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area  and declared the area a closed military zone.
Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the road leading to the town of ‘Arraba east of the illegal settlement Dotan
Raid
  • At 16:15, Israeli forces raided Al-Fanduqumiya village, clashed with several residents then withdrew at 16:50.
  • At 20:20, Israeli forces raided Qabatiya, stormed a home {Under Construction} and temporarily detained Sameer Raja Abu Al-Hassan then released him at a later time.
Assault on Educational sector
  • At 00:35, Israeli forces raided The Arab American University Al-Zababda campus, temporarily detained the University security guards, turned off their cellular telephones and then stormed and searched the Offices of the Student Union and confiscated several computers and then withdrew at 01:15.
Closure of Wall Gates
  • Israeli forces continue to close the wall gate and only allow those holding special permits to enter through it.

TUBAS

Closure of main Roads
  • At 12:30 on March 15th 2016, Israeli forces closed the east entrance of Al-Aqaba village with cement blocks.
Raid
  • At 09:00, Israeli forces raided Al-Aqaba village.
Detention
  • At 14:00, Israeli forces positioned near Bardala village detained Oday Nasser Suliman Ahmad Sawafta (17 years old) {A resident of Tubas city

TULKAREM

Military Checkpoints
  • At 17:50, Israeli forces continue to intensify their restrictions at “Eniv” checkpoint located along the main road connecting Tulkarem and Nablus and impeded the free flow of traffic until 18:35.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 17:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Lid town junction then searched residents and vehicles.
Raid
  • At 10:50, Israeli forces raided Beit Lid town and summoned Ismail Yusef Sharaqa to report to Israeli intelligence for questioning then withdrew at 11:30.
  • At 14:50, Israeli forces raided Far’oun village, served a military order to halt construction of a home owned by Tawfeeq Mohammad Arafat and to halt construction on a section of a home owned by Samer Masaud Fahmawi and a military order to demolish and remove livestock shed owned by Ahmad Saleem Hazhazi for allegedly being built near the wall.
  • At 16:10, Israeli forces raided Zieta, clashed with several residents, temporarily detained Abdel-Raziq Munthir Abdel-Raziq Sharqiya (16 years old) then released him at 00:30.
  • At 01:20, Israeli forces raided Tulkarem, clashes with several residents as they stormed a searched a local charity association and confiscated several office supplies then withdrew at 04:40.
Detention
  • On March 21st 2016, Israeli forces detained Ibrahim Faris Mohammad Sharqiya {A resident of Zieta town}.
Temporary Detention
  • At 11:10, Israeli forces positioned at “Eniv” checkpoint temporarily detained Islam Khaled Taqatqa (A resident of Allar town) then released him at 11:40.

QALQILIYA

Closure of main Roads
  • Israeli forces continue to close with cement blocks agricultural roads east of Azzun town.
  • In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
  • Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 18:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint along the main road connecting Qalqiliya and Nablus, temporarily detained 3 residents: Thaer Husni Nazal (National Security Force officer), Rizq Abu Samra and Mahmoud Bader Al-Basha then released them after damaging their vehicle and withdrew at 19:30.
  • At 02:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Kafr Thulth town then searched residents and vehicles.
Closure of Wall Gates
  • The Israeli army continues to restrict access at ‘Azzun ‘Atma Wall gate and impeded the free flow of traffic. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the entrance to the village of Wadi Al- Rasha and to deny civilian access.
  • The Israeli army allows residents to access the village through Gate #109. Having removed the gate at the entrance to the village of Ras Atiya; the Israeli army only allows students to cross to their schools outside the village through the Habla gate.

NABLUS

Closure
  • Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area
Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close the northern entrance to Qabalan town; the southern entrances to the town of Jamma’in and the villages of Duma and Qaryut.
  • Since 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds.
  • Since 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area.
  • Since 18:30 on January 19th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Huwara and Walada village with dirt mounds.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 09:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at “Yitzhar” settlement junction located in North Huwara then searched resident’s and vehicles until 11:20.
Raid
  • At dawn on March 21st 2016, Israeli forces raided Yatma village and detained a resident.
  • At dawn on March 21st 2016, Israeli forces raided Qaryout village and detained a resident.
  • At 10:55, Israeli forces raided Sabustiya village as they escorted a group of Israeli settlers who stormed archaeological sites in the area then withdrew at 14:35.
  • At 02:00, Israeli forces raided Beit Furiq town, stormed and searched  2 homes then withdrew at 03:20.
  • At 02:25, Israeli forces raided Tel village, stormed and searched a secondary school and also stormed and searched 2 homes and then confiscated a vehicle, 2 televisions and a computer screen then withdrew at 05:40.
  • At 03:10, Israeli forces raided Assira Al-Shimaliya, detained 2 residents then withdrew at 04:30.
  • At 03:15, Israeli forces raided Nablus until 05:40.
Detention
  • At 03:15 on March 21st 2016, Israeli forces detained Amer Maher Abu Amshah during their raid into Zawata village in addition to those mentioned in the previous report.
  • Israeli forces detained Kamel Ahmad Sunubar in Yatma village.
  • Israeli forces detained Hussein Mohammad Mardawi in Qaryout village.
  • Israeli forces detained Shadi Hussien Muslih Al-Shawali and Sami Mohammad Ahmad Dirawi in Assirah Al-Shamaliya
Land Confiscation

At 09:45, Israeli forces served a military order for the confiscation of 1200 Dunumes (297 acres) of land in in Al-Lubban, Al-Sawiya and Qaryout villages south of Nablus city, northern West Bank.

SALFIT

Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the entrance to two detour roads connecting Marda village to its farmland.
  • Since 11:00 on July 30th 2012, Israeli forces have closed two roads leading to Abu Nasar and Qatan Al-Jama’ located in western area of Deir Istiya with cement blocks.
Military Checkpoints
  • Israeli forces continue to intensify their restrictions at Za’tara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic.
Raid
  • At 17:00, Israeli forces raided Kafil Harris village and Qirah village.
  • At 19:50, Israeli forces raided Kafr Al-Dik, clashed with several residents as they stormed and searched a home and detained a resident.
  • At 23:30, Israeli forces raided Salfit city and summoned Ibrahim Abu Zaher to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning then withdrew at 02:30.
Detention
  • At 19:30, Israeli forces positioned at Za’tara checkpoint detained Alaa Osama Abdel-Qadder Al-Terawi {A resident of Balata Camp in Nablus}.
  • Israeli forces detained Zahi Ibrahim Al-Dik in Kafr Al-Dik town.

JERICHO

Military Checkpoints
  • Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District.
Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 19:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint along road (90) near Al-New’meh village junction located at the North entrance of Jericho then searched residents and vehicles until 22:00. (ii) At 00:35, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the south entrance of Jericho city then searched residents and vehicles until 01:05.

Raid

At 01:40, Israeli forces raided Al-Oja village temporarily detained 3 residents: Salah Ahmad Ibrahim Ka’abnah {A Preventive Security Force officer}, Adel Ahmad Ibrahim Ka’abnah and Osama Ahmad Ibrahim Ka’abnah then released them at 02:00.

Temporary Detention

At 17:25, Israeli forces positioned near Fasayil village temporarily detained 2 farmers: Basam Ismail Zabidat and Yusef Ahmad Mohammad Zabidat {Both residents of Al-Zabidat town} then released them at a later time.

BETHLEHEM

Closure
  • The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
  • Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities.
Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds. (ii) Since 10:45 on September 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the agricultural road located in Arab Al-Rashaydeh village located near “Malee Amous” settlement with dirt mounds. (iii) Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires. (iv) At 09:15 on February 16th 2016, Israeli forces closed the bypass road connecting Za’tara and Ush Al-Ghurab area located in east Beit Sahur town with dirt mounds. (v) On February 25th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main entrance gate leading to Um Al-Rakaba area in Al-Khader. (vi) At 22:40 on March 17th 2016, Israeli forces closed all entrances of Beit Fajjar town and prevented residents from entering or exiting the town. (vii) At 12:25 on March 18th 2016, Israeli forces closed the north entrance road of Marah Rabah village which leads to Beit Fajjar town with cement blocks.

Military Checkpoints

At 09:40, Israeli forces closed Al-Container checkpoint, impeded the free flow of traffic, temporarily seized a National Security force vehicle then allowed them to pass through after reopening the checkpoint at 09:50.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 10:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in Aqbat Hasnah area located near Husan village then searched residents and vehicles until 13:00. (ii) At 19:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Al-Nashash area junction located at the south entrance of Bethlehem City then searched residents and vehicles until 20:20. (iii) At 20:05, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Khader then searched residents and vehicles until 20:20.

Raid

(i) At 08:40, Israeli forces raided Beit Fajjar, stormed several homes, temporarily detained 8 residents then released them at a later time and confiscated 4 agricultural tractors and several stone cutting tools owned by Shadi Mahmoud Taqatqa, Abdel-Qadder Al-Taweel, and Mohammad Abu Zahrah then at 01:35 stormed the homes of Ali Jamal Taqatqa and Ali Abdel-Rahman Thawabteh {who were killed by Israeli forces} and took measurement of the homes in order to prepare them for demolitions then withdrew at 04:00 (ii) At 02:55, Israeli forces raided Bethlehem city and Al-Duhisheh camp, clashed with several residents as the stormed and searched several homes in the camp, detained a resident then withdrew at 06:20.

Attack

At 13:10, Israeli forces positioned near Al-Ayda camp in North Bethlehem city fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

Detention

Israeli forces detained Shadi Mohammad Musa Abu Ajamiya in Al-Duhisheh camp.

Temporary Detention

At 10:45, Israeli forces positioned at the entrance of Al-Aroub camp temporarily detained Marwan Na’im Thawabteh (A resident of Beit Fajjar) then released him at 14:40.

HEBRON

Closure
  • The Israeli army continues to close Al-Shuhada’ Street, Al-Sahleh and Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighbourhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed.
  • Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.
Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City.
  • The Israeli army continues to close the bypass road connecting Bani Na’im and Zif village junction with dirt mounds.
  • The Israeli Army continues to close the entrance of Beit Ummar (located near the local Cemetery) with dirt mounds.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 16:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Sa’ir town searched residents and vehicles.
Raid
  • At 00:20, Israeli forces raided Bani Na’im and stormed and searched 3 homes.
  • At 01:10, Israeli forces raided Ithna until 03:55.
  • At 02:30, Israeli forces raided Halhoul, detained a resident then withdrew at 03:55.
Detention
  • At 12:00, Israeli forces detained Ayoub Mohammad Shaladah (A resident of Sa’ir town).
  • Israeli forces detained Mahmoud Mazen Fo’ad Zamar’a in Halhoul town.
Settlers Violence
  • At 08:05, a group of Israeli settlers stormed agricultural land near “ Karmi Tsur” settlement  and uprooted Olive tree owned by Mohammad Eid Shaker Abu Sneineh
GAZA STRIP

ALL DISTRICTS

  • At 19:00 on August 26th 2014, Palestinian Gunmen and the Israeli military agreed to a cease fire agreement (brokered by the Arab Republic of Egypt) which includes the opening of border crossings to allow the entry of emergency supplies and humanitarian goods as well as construction material and agreed to increase the fishing limit to 6 nautical miles with possibility of  increase to 12 nautical miles by the end of the year and to decrease the Military area to 100 meters, allow freedom of movement and a halt to targeted killings and assassinations and negotiations will be held for discussion on rebuilding the sea port and airports in the coming month.
  • Israeli forces broke the ceasefire agreement by raiding and opening fire towards North Gaza and Central Gaza
  • Israeli forces broke the cease fire agreement by opening fire from their positions behind the Green Line towards Khan Yunis

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points
  • Beit Hanun (Erez) is open for the passage of critical patients, journalists, NGO staff, businesspersons and passengers travelling abroad through Al-Karama crossing with previous coordination.
Raid

(i) At 07:00 on March 21st 2016, Israeli forces escorting Military bulldozers stormed 150m into the vicinity of east Beit Hanun town and levelled a plot of land then withdrew at 09:50. (ii) At 06:30 on March 22nd 2016, Israeli forces escorting Military bulldozers stormed 50m into the vicinity of North West Beit Hanun town and levelled a plot of land.

GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points
  • Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
  • Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.

CENTRAL GAZA

Raid
  • At 06:40 on March 22nd 2016, Israeli forces escorting Military bulldozers stormed 50m into the vicinity of east Deir Al-Balah and levelled a plot of land.

KHAN YUNIS

Attack

(i) At 08:30, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in North east Khan Yunis city. (ii) At 21:50, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in North east Khan Yunis city.

RAFAH

Closure of Crossing Points
  • Yasser ‘Arafat International Airport remains closed.
  • Rafah (Al ‘Awdah) Crossing is closed
  • Sufa Crossing is closed
  • Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing is open for the entry of tourist and foreign diplomats and the entry of Humanitarian assistance and construction material funded by UNRWA.
