Daily Report February 11, 2016

WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure
  1. On February 10th 2016, the Israeli army, intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers under the age of 50 from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
  2. The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
  3. The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.
Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
  2. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint. 
Closure of Checkpoints
  1. Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
  2. On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu ‘fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 11:45, Israeli forces set up checkpoint beneath Bir Nabalah bridge then searched residents and vehicles.
  2. At 20:40, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint along Al-Kasarat road near Qalandiya camp then searched residents and vehicles.
  3. At 22:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Beit Duqqu then searched residents and vehicles.
Raid
  1. At 01:30, Israeli forces raided Qalandiya camp, detained a resident then withdrew at 02:50.
  2. At dawn on February 10th 2016, Israeli forces raided Beit Duqqu village {for the alleged shooting towards a Israeli settler vehicle near Beit Duqqu village}, clashed with several residents and as a result injured 3 residents: Laqman Abd Yusef Rayan, Yusef Abdel-Azziz Daoud and Mohammad Ahmad Naji Daoud then detained 2 residents.
Detention
  1. At 03:00 on February 10th 2016, Israeli forces detained 5 children: Bakr Abdel-Raziq Far’oun (16 years old), Ahmad Abu Romi (16 years old), Ahmad Abu Aweis (14 years old), Oday Azmi Mustafa (14 years old) and Adam Khaled Abu Shamalah (15 years old) during their raid into Al-Eizariya village in addition to those mentioned in the previous report.
  2. Israeli forces detained Ra’fat Aliyan in Qalandiya camp.
  3. Israeli forces detained 2 residents: Naji Bassam Daoud and Mohammad Ismail Rayamn in Beit Duqqu village.
Obstruction of Places of Worship
  • At 09:30, a group of Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli Military and Police forces stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem and provoked worshipers.
Closure of Wall Gates
  1. The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
  2. The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Slewahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem IDs to cross, after subjecting them to thorough searches using electronic devices

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages.
  2. On December 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed the West entrance of Al-Labban Al-Gharbi village with cement blocks.
  3. On January 9th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Shuqba and Shabtin villages with cement blocks and installed a steel gate in the area.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 12:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Beit ‘Ur al Tahta village junction then searched residents and vehicles until 15:20.
  2. At 12:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of At Tira village then searched residents and vehicles until 13:30.
  3. At 16:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Ein Sinya village roundabout located along the main road connecting Ramallah and Nablus then searched residents and vehicles until 17:00.
  4. At 18:05, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Atarah bridge then searched residents and vehicles until 19:30.
  5. At 18:45, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Um Safa village then searched residents and vehicles until 19:55.
Raid
  1. At 17:40, Israeli forces raided Beit ‘Ur al Tahta village, stormed a gas station and confiscated surveillance camera footage and again at 04:35 raided the village and stormed a  home  and demolished a storage room and a barracks owned by Sultan Ziyad Fahed Suliman for allegedly being built without a licence.
  2. At 22:40, Israeli forces raided Turmus’aya until 24:00.
  3. At 01:10, Israeli forces raided Dura Al-Qara’ village.
  4. At 01:25, Israeli forces raided Ramallah city until 03:40.
  5. At 01:25, Israeli forces raided Deir Nathim village and stormed 2 homes.
  6. At 06:10, Israeli forces raided Awarta village and stormed 2 homes.
Attack
  1. At 11:40, Israeli forces positioned near the entrance of Deir Nathim village fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
  2. At 12:25, Israeli forces positioned in the vicinity of “Pesagout” settlement located in east Al-Bireh city fired live ammunition, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
Confiscation of Property
  • At 06:55, Israeli forces positioned near the entrance of Kharbathat Al-Misbah village confiscated a container used as a vehicle spare part’s shop owned by Hani Mahmoud Dar Musa {A resident of Beit Liqya}.

JENIN

Closure of District
  • On December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area  {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area  and declared the area a closed military zone.

TUBAS

House Demolition
  • At 11:00, Israeli forces stormed Thar’ Awad area (Al-Maksar) located in the North Jordan valley area and demolished 2 residential tents owned by Kayed Ghayad Salamin.

TULKAREM

Military Checkpoints
  • Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at “Eniv” checkpoint located along the main road connecting Tulkarem and Nablus and impeded the free flow of traffic.
Raid
  1. At 16:50, Israeli forces raided Anabta and clashed with several residents.
  2. At 01:40, Israeli forces raided Tulkarem and its camps until 04:45.

QALQILIYA

Closure of Roads
  1. In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
  2. Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 14:20 and again at 19:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint beneath Azzun bridge located along the main road connecting Qalqiliya and Tulkarem then searched residents and vehicles.
  2. At 19:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint beneath Hablat tunnel located at the south entrance of Qalqiliya then searched residents and vehicles until 20:35.
Settlers Violence
  • At 11:30, an Israeli settler travelling along the main road connecting Azzun and Kafr Laqif village chased a vehicle driven by Sa’ed Abdel-Latif Abu Haniya (A resident of Azzun) and shattered the vehicle windshield with a steel object.
Closure of Wall Gates
  1. The Israeli army continues to restrict access at ‘Azzun ‘Atma Wall gate and impeded the free flow of traffic. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the entrance to the village of Wadi Al- Rasha and to deny civilian access.
  2. The Israeli army allows residents to access the village through Gate #109. Having removed the gate at the entrance to the village of Ras Atiya; the Israeli army only allows students to cross to their schools outside the village through the Habla gate.

NABLUS

Closure
  • Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area.
Closure of main Roads
  1. At 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds.
  2. On November 29th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Burin, Awarta and Osirin as well as the agricultural bypass road connecting Aqraba and Qabalan village with dirt mounds.
  3. At 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitzhar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area.
  4. At 18:30 on January 19th 2016, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Huwara and Walada village with dirt mounds.
  5. At 09:00 on February 1st 2016, Israeli forces closed the steel gate {south} entrance of Jamma’in village and closed the main road connecting.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 11:35, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Qabalan junction then searched residents and vehicles until 13:40.
  2. At 19:10, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Beita then searched residents and vehicles until 20:45.
Raid
  1. At 10:00, Israeli forces raided Sabastiya village as they escorted a group of Israeli settlers as they stormed archaeological sites in the area then withdrew at 12:10.
  2. At 01:40, Israeli forces raided Beit Iba and Zawata village, stormed several homes, detained 2 residents, assaulted Abdel-Kareem Hassan Jodah (A resident of Zuwata village and as s result left him hospitalised with contusions.
  3. At 02:30, Israeli forces raided Nablus, clashed with several residents then withdrew at 05:30.
Detention
  • Israeli forces detained Ra’ef Mohammad Aql (A resident of Beit Iba) and Mu’tasim Billaah Hassan Judah (A resident of Zuwata village).

SALFIT

Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the entrance to two detour roads connecting Marda village to its farmland.
  2. Since 11:00 on July 30th 2012, Israeli forces have closed two roads leading to Abu Nasar and Qatan Al-Jama’ located in western area of Deir Istiya with cement blocks.
Military Checkpoints
  • Israeli forces intensified their restrictions at Za’tara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic.
Flying Checkpoints
  1. At 10:20, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area between Salfit and Bruqin then searched residents and vehicles.
  2. At 17:10, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Deir Ballout then searched residents and vehicles.
  3. At 19:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Qarewat Bani Hassan then searched residents and vehicles until 02:10.
  4. At 20:45, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in the area between Al-Zawiya and Mashah village then searched residents and vehicles.
Raid
  1. At 19:00, Israeli forces raided Deir Ballout, confiscated a shipping truck owned by Yasser Abdel-Latif Qaroush and forced him to remove concrete bricks from the truck detained 2 residents then withdrew at 19:50.
  2. At 02:10, Israeli forces raided Kafil Harris village as they escorted a group of Israeli settlers who stormed religious sites.
Detention
  • Israeli forces detained Mahmoud Izat Abdallah and Abdel-Wahab Abdallah in Deir Ballout.

JERICHO

Military Checkpoints
  • Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 19:05, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the south entrance of Jericho then searched residents and vehicles.

House Demolition
  • At 07:05 on February 10th 2016, Israeli forces stormed Al-Jiftlik village and demolished 4 residential barracks owned by Awad Ali Badrat, Salah Salameh Ka’abneh and Taqfiq Ali Bani Odeh and Zuhier Fihmi Bani Maniya.

BETHLEHEM

Closure
  1. The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
  2. Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities.
Closure
  1. The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala  ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to  Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds.
  2. The Israeli army continues to close the road leading to “Newe Daniyyel” settlement and agricultural land in Al-Khader; a road between  Um Tuba and Wadi Al-Hums: Wadi Fukin, Al-Jaba, the Green Line; a road between Za’tara and a detour road, and a road between Taqou and Khirbet Al-Deir with cement blocks.
  3. Since August 2nd 2012, Israeli forces closed a road leading to Beit Jalla.
  4. Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires.
  5. Since 10:45 on September 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the agricultural road located in Arab Al-Rashaydeh village located near “Malee Amous” settlement with dirt mounds.
Raid
  • At 17:30 on February 9th 2016, Israeli forces positioned in Nihalin village closed the village entrances with several checkpoints and only allowed resident’s if they village from entering and exiting the village only by foot and the exception of medical vehicle and ambulances carrying emergency medical cases {after the alleged stabbing of a Israeli settler near “Neve Danayel” settlement located east of the village} then detained a resident.
Attack
  • At 20:00, Israeli forces positioned near the west entrance of Teqoa fired; rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
Detention
  • At 15:30, Israeli forces detained Fadi Fayez Taqatqa (A resident of Beit Fajjar) as he was reporting to Israeli intelligence for questioning based on a prior summon.
  • Israeli forces detained Mohammad Hassan Fanoun in Nihalin village.

HEBRON

Closure
  1. The Israeli army continues to close Al-Shuhada’ Street, Al-Sahleh and Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighbourhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed.
  2. Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.
Closure of main Roads
  1. The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City.
  2. The Israeli army continues to close all roads leading to Road # 60 as well as detour roads along the settler bypass road leading to Yatta town.
  3. The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds a detour road leading to e to Al-Simiya village, the southern entrance of Al-Samou’ and the entrance of Beit Annun with cement blocks.
  4. On December 9th 2015, Israeli forces closed a road near Jabal Jallis area located in the old city of Hebron and closed the bypass road.
Raid
  1. At dawn on February 10th 2016, Israeli forces raided Dura, stormed and searched several vehicle spare parts shops.
  2. At 11:10, Israeli forces raided Ithna until 13:00.
  3. At 11:50, Israeli forces raided Al-Aroub camp, clashed with several residents and as a result killed a child and suffocated Gevara Ahmad Jawabra (11 years old) from tear gas inhalation and detained a resident.
  4. At 00:35, Israeli forces raided Hebron, detained 2 residents then withdrew at 05:30.
  5. At 03:40, Israeli forces raided Halhoul then stormed and searched a home.
  6. At 04:05, Israeli forces raided Al-Fuwar camp, stormed a home and detained a National Security forces officer.
Killings
  • Israeli forces killed the child: Omar Yusef Madi Jawabrah (15 years old) during confrontations in Al-Aroub camp
Detention
  1. At 10:00, Israeli forces positioned in Khilat Hadour area in the old city of Hebron detained Daoud Salah Abu Halawah.
  2. Israeli forces detained Hatem Khaled Jawabra in Al-Aroub camp.
  3. Israeli forces detained Eyad Omar and RadwanWaleed Jum’a Al-Taweel in Hebron city.
  4. Israeli force detained Bassam Awad Ramadan {National Security forces officer} in AL-Fuwar camp.
GAZA STRIP

ALL DISTRICTS

  • At 19:00 on August 26th 2014, Palestinian Gunmen and the Israeli military agreed to a cease fire agreement (brokered by the Arab Republic of Egypt) which includes the opening of border crossings to allow the entry of emergency supplies and humanitarian goods as well as construction material and agreed to increase the fishing limit to 6 nautical miles with possibility of increase to 12 nautical miles by the end of the year and to decrease the Military area to 100 meters, allow freedom of movement and a halt to targeted killings and assassinations and negotiations will be held for discussion on rebuilding the sea port and airports in the coming month.

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points
  • Beit Hanun (Erez) is open for the passage of critical patients, journalists, NGO staff, businessperson and passengers travelling abroad through Al-Karama crossing with previous coordination.

GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points
  1. Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
  2. Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.

RAFAH

Closure of Crossing Points
  1. Yasser ‘Arafat International Airport remains closed.
  2. Rafah (Al ‘Awdah) Crossing is closed
  3. Sufa Crossing is closed
  4. Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing is open for the entry of tourist and foreign diplomats and the entry of Humanitarian assistance and construction material funded by UNRWA.
