WEST BANK

JERUSALEM

Closure
  • On January 18th 2016, the Israeli army, intensified their restrictions at the entrance to Jerusalem city, set up several flying checkpoints on the main road leading to the city and prevented worshipers under the age of 50 from conducting prayers at Al-Aqsa mosque compound which forced residents to conduct prayers near checkpoints located outside Al-Aqsa mosque compound.
  • The Israeli army continues to close the ‘demarcation area’ along the Wall in the area surrounding occupied East Jerusalem and restricts access to local residents as well as to civilians holding special permits.
  • The Israeli army continues to impose a blockade and deny civilian access to a hill between Biddu and Beit Iksa villages.
Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks and dirt mounds the entrance to Jaba’ village.
  • The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the eastern entrance to Beit Iksa village and forces civilians to access Jerusalem city through Qalandiya checkpoint. 
  • On November 16th 2015, Israeli forces closed the south entrance of Jabal Al-Mukabir neighbourhood in Jerusalem which leads to “Armon Hantsiv” settlement with cement blocks.
Military Checkpoints
  • Israeli authorities continue to consider Qalandiya checkpoint a “border crossing point” and designate a special crossing lane for holders of Jerusalem IDs and another for those possessing permits to access Jerusalem city.
  • On September 19th 2012, Israeli forces closed Ras Khamis checkpoint near Shu’fat camp and impeded the free flow of traffic in order to construct the wall.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 04:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint in Samir Amis area located in North Jerusalem then searched residents and vehicles.
Raid
  • At 16:10, Israeli forces raided Al-Eizariya, clashed with several residents, detained 2 children then withdrew at 16:45.
  • At 01:55, Israeli forces raided Al-Ram and detained 2 residents.
  • At 03:15, Israeli forces raided Al-Eizariya and Abu Dis until 06:20.
Attack
  • At 19:00, Israeli forces positioned in Abu Dis fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
  • At 22:00, Israeli forces positioned at the entrance of Hizma village, fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
  • At 23:00, Israeli forces positioned in Silwan neighbourhood fired stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.
Detention
  • At dawn on January 17th 2016, Israeli forces detained 3 residents: Fadi Abu Al-Lindeh, Ehab Abu Al-Lindeh and Anwar Subieh {All residents of Kafr Aqab} for allegedly finding knives in their possession.
  • At 09:15, Israeli forces detained the child Issa Bashir Al-Ferawi (15 years old) along Al-Wad road in the old city of Jerusalem after storming his home.
  • At 18:30, Israeli forces detained the child Taha Omar Abu Khdeir (17 years old){A resident of Shu’fat} for allegedly finding a knife in his possession.
  • Israeli forces detained 2 residents: Husam Al-Shamali (17 years old) and Ameen Ghazi Attallah (14 years old) in Al-Eizariya.
  • Israeli forces detained Mohammad Rateb Al-Wahah and Mohammad Al-Ja’bari in Al-Ram.
Obstruction of Places of Worship
  • At 10:00, a group of Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli Military and Police forces stormed Al-Aqsa mosque compound in the old city of Jerusalem and provoked worshipers.
Closure of Wall Gates
  • The Israeli army continues to close with cement blocks the Wall gate in Abu Dis town.
  • The Israeli army continues to deny civilian access through the Wall gate on Al-Shayyah road in the area between Al-Sawahira Al-Sharqiya and Al-Slewahira Al-Gharbiya villages, only allowing civilians holding Jerusalem IDs to cross, after subjecting them to thorough searches using electronic devices.

RAMALLAH & AL BIREH

Closure of main Roads
  • The Israeli army continues to close the entrances to Sinjil village well as the junction to Kafr Malik and ‘Ein Samiya villages
  • . On October 3rd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road located near “Bet El” settlement and leading to Al-Jalazoun camp with cement blocks.
  • Since November 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed the main entrance of Sinjil and the east entrance of Al-Mughier village with cement blocks.
  • At 18:50 on December 4th 2015, Israeli forces closed the main entrance of  Abboud with cement blocks.
  • On December 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed the West entrance of Al-Labban Al-Gharbi village with cement blocks.
Flying Checkpoints
  • At 10:15, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Bitein then searched residents and vehicles.
  • At 10:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint beneath Yabroud village bridge then searched residents and vehicles until 11:30.

JENIN

Closure (per District)

On December 24th 2015, Israeli forces closed off the area {900m wide and 100m long} along the main road connecting Jenin and Tulkarem leading to south Ya’bad and installed a barbed wire fence around the area and declared the area a closed military zone.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the road leading to the town of ‘Arraba east of the illegal settlement Dotan.
(ii) Since the evening of November 25th 2012, Israeli forces closed the western entrance of Ya’bad.

Raid

At 03:15, Israeli forces raided Ya’bad, stormed several homes, detained 5 residents including a University Student and damaged a main entrance door after storming and searching Muhanad Hatem Amarneh’s home and confiscated a computer and a cellular telephone then withdrew at 06:45.

Detention

Israeli forces detained five residents: Jamil Salah Amarneh, Khaled Waleed Attatrah, Abdallah Ahmad Hirzallah, Sayef Adnan Al-Kilani and Kamal Mohammad Hirzallah.

Closure of Wall Gates

Israeli forces continue too close the wall gate and only allow those holding special permits to enter through it.

QALQILIYA

Closure of Roads

(i) Israeli forces continue to close with cement blocks agricultural roads east of Azzun town.
(ii) In addition to closing the gate installed since the outbreak the second Intifada, the Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the eastern entrance to Kafr Qaddum village.
(iii) Since 16:55 on December 18th 2014, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with dirt mounds
(iv) Since 10:40 on September 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed an agricultural road leading to Far’ata village which is located near “Gillad” settlement with a steel Gate

Flying Checkpoints

At 18:55, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the east entrance of Izbit Al-Tabib village and impeded the free flow of traffic after closing the main entrance gate until reopening it later.

Raid

(i) At 01:15, Israeli forces raided Qalqiliya, stormed a home then withdrew at 03:05.
(ii) At 02:35, Israeli forces raided Jayyus, stormed 4 homes then withdrew at 03:20.

Destruction of Property

At 08:00, Israeli forces demolished a Barracks owned by Sadq Rasheed Baliya located along the main road connecting Qalqiliya and Nablus.

Closure of Wall Gates

(i) The Israeli army continues to restrict access at ‘Azzun ‘Atma Wall gate and impeded the free flow of traffic. The Israeli army continues to close with an iron gate the entrance to the village of Wadi Al- Rasha and to deny civilian access.
(ii) The Israeli army allows residents to access the village through Gate #109. Having removed the gate at the entrance to the village of Ras Atiya; the Israeli army only allows students to cross to their schools outside the village through the Habla gate.

NABLUS

Closure

Since December 17th 2013, Israeli forces ordered the closure 500 dunumes of land in Qusra village as a closed military area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the roads of Til-Burin and Beit Furik-Salem; the settler bypass road connecting the village of Deir al Hatab to the settlement of Alon Moreh; the road connecting the town of ‘Aqraba to the village of Osrin; and the detour road between the town of Qabalan and the village of Osrin.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the northern entrance to Qabalan town; the southern entrances to the town of Jamma’in and the villages of Duma and Qaryut.
(iii) At 06:30 on November 22nd 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Aqraba and Yanoun village with dirt mounds.
(iv) On November 29th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Burin, Awarta and Osirin as well as the agricultural bypass road connecting Aqraba and Qabalan village with dirt mounds.
(v) At 13:00 on December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Tel village and the bypass road near “Yitsahar” settlement and installed a steel gate in the area.

Flying Checkpoints

At 20:30, Israeli forces closed Beit Furiq checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic until reopening it at 21:00.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 10:30, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Majdal Bani Fadil village and searched residents and vehicles until 13:45.
(ii) At 17:45, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Al-Labban Al-Shariqya village then searched residents and vehicles.

Raid

(i) At 18:10, Israeli forces raided Osirin village and clashed with several residents until 18:30.
(ii) At 03:10, Israeli forces raided Nablus and Askar camp, stormed 2 homes, detained a resident then withdrew at 04:50.
(iii) At 04:30, Israeli forces raided Assirah Al-Qibliya village and detained a resident.
(iv) At dawn on January 19th 2016, Israeli forces raided Huwara and detained a resident.

Detention

(i) At 18:20, Israeli forces detained Zakariya Maher Hamayil (A resident of Beita) as he was reporting to Israeli Intelligence for questioning based on a prior summon.
(ii) Israeli forces detained Ahamd Atta Warrad in Askar camp in Nablus.
(iii) Israeli forces detained Mohammad Ali Hussien Yassin in Assirah Al-Qibliyeh village.
(iv) Israeli forces detained Eyad Nayef Mahmoud Odeh in Huwarah.

Attack

At 15:00, Israeli forces positioned in Al-Qantira area located near Beit Furiq fired rubber coated steel bullets, stun and tear gas grenades towards several residents for alleged stoning.

Settlers Violence

At 21:15, a group of Israeli settlers positioned at Huwara checkpoint stoned residents and vehicles passing through the checkpoint and as a result shattared the front windshield of a vehicle owned by Diya Nabeel Abdel-Jaleel Ahmad (A resident of Kafr Qalil village).

SALFIT

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds the entrance to two detour roads connecting Marda village to its farmland.
(ii) On 15.04.2012, the Israeli army has opened the northern entrance to Salfit city to civilian which was closed since the year 2000 and prevented access from 08:00 until 09:20.
(iii) Since 11:00 on July 30th 2012, Israeli forces have closed two roads leading to Abu Nasar and Qatan Al-Jama’ located in western area of Deir Istiya with cement blocks.

Closure of Checkpoints

Israeli forces continue to intensify their restrictions at Za’tara checkpoint and impeded the free flow of traffic.

Raid

(i) At 08:55, Israeli forces raided Salfit and travelled towards the North West area and closed an agricultural road using dirt mounds then withdrew at 13:30.
(ii) At 14:25, Israeli forces raided Harris village and detained a resident.

Detention

Israeli forces detained Yasser Suliman Shmalawi in Harris village.

Settlers Violence

At 16:50, an Israeli settler vehicle travelling along Abar Al-Samarah road located at the entrance of Al-Zawiya rammed two residents riding a motor cycle and as result killed one residents and critically injuring Oday Misa Zuhier Ammar leaving him hospitalised.

Killings

Khalil Musa Zuhier Amer (19 years old) was killed after an Israeli settler vehicle travelling along Abar Al-Samarah road located at the entrance of Al-Zawiya rammed him.

JERICHO

Closure of Checkpoints

Israeli forces continue to intensify its restrictions at Al-Hamra checkpoint set up along the road connecting Jericho and Nablus District.

Flying Checkpoints

At 15:25, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint along road (90) near Al-Nuw’meh village located at the North entrance of Jericho then searched residents and vehicles until 16:10.

Flying Checkpoints

At 19:15, Israeli forces raided Fasayil village and then stormed and searched an agricultural shed then withdrew at 19:40.

BETHLEHEM

Closure

(i) The Israeli army continues to close roads to An Nu’man village, with the exception of the road leading to the Wall gate in the south-eastern area of the village.
(ii) Since 15 September 2007, the Israel army has prevented civilians from accessing or staying on 22 dunumes of confiscated land in Al Mazmuriya area in Beit Sahur and Bethlehem cities.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the Beit Jala-Wadi Ahmed road; a road between Um Tuba and Al-Jass ; a road between Um Tuba and Khilat Nu’man: a road between Um Tuba and the wall; a road between Al-Khas village and the wall; the 2 by pass roads located south of Al-Walaja; a road between Talita Qumi and Nazlat Al-Sider in Beit Jala; the eastern road of Al-Khader; the road between Al-Khader and Beit Jala ; Wadi Rahal road near “Ifrat” settlement ,the road between Al-Khader and road #60 which lead to the eastern neighbourhoods of Bethlehem; a road leading to Wadi Rahal, and a road east of Beit Fajjar town with dirt mounds.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to close the road leading to “Newe Daniyyel” settlement and agricultural land in Al-Khader; a road between Um Tuba and Wadi Al-Hums: Wadi Fukin, Al-Jaba, the Green Line; a road between Za’tara and a detour road, and a road between Taqou and Khirbet Al-Deir with cement blocks.
(iii) Since August 2nd 2012, Israeli forces closed a road leading to Beit Jalla.
(iv) Since May 8th 2013, Israeli forces closed the road connecting Al-Carmisan area in Beit Jalla and Al-Walaja with a steel gate and barbed wires.
(v) Since June 3rd 2013, the Israeli army closed the road connecting Nihalin and road 60 with dirt mounds.
(vi) Since 13:20 on September 29th 2013, the Israeli army closed a road leading to 50 acres of agricultural land in Wadi Salem area in Al-Khadr with dirt mounds.
(vii) Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Surif and Al-Jub’a village with dirt mounds.
(viii) On January 28th 2014, Israeli forces closed the steel gate at the entrance of Nihalin { replacing the dirt mounds placed at the entrance since the year 2002} and placed time schedule for opening the gate from 06:00 until 14:00 on a daily bases.
(ix) Since 10:45 on September 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the agricultural road located in Arab Al-Rashaydeh village located near “Malee Amous” settlement with dirt mounds.
(x) At 13:45 on January 17th 2016, Israeli forces closed the south entrance of Nihalin village with a steel gate.
(xi) At 20:00 on January 18th 2016, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Jinata with dirt mounds.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 18:00, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint near Dar Salah Village Bridge located at the east entrance of Beit Sahour then searched residents and vehicles until 18:40.
(ii) At 20:45, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at Al-Faradis village junction then searched residents and vehicles until 21:20.

Raid

(i) At 12:30, Israeli forces raided south Hebron, stormed several homes and temporarily detained Mohammad Kamaal Al-Sha’lan then released him at a later time and withdrew at 13:10.
(ii) At 14:15, Israeli forces raided Taqou’, stormed several homes, confiscated surveillance camera tapes from Raed Al-Aroj’s home then withdrew at 15:30.
(iii) At 21:40, Israeli forces raided Nihalin village, clashed with several residents then withdrew at 22:00.
(iv) At 06:45, Israeli forces raided Bethlehem and detained a resident.

Attack

At 10:35, Israeli forces positioned at the entrance of “Teqoa” settlement opened fire towards the child Othman Mohammad Kamil Sha’lan (16 years old) and as a result left him hospitalised with critical injuries after he attempted to stab a Israeli soldier (As alleged by the Israeli Military).

Detention

(i) Israeli forces detained Omar Samir Abdel-Aziz Shalash in Bethlehem.
(ii) Israeli forces detained the child Othman Mohammad Kamil Sha’lan (16 years old).

HEBRON

Closure

(i) The Israeli army continues to close Khuzq Al-Far areas, as well as the old gold market in Hebron’s Old City. In addition to closing the entrance to Al-Qeisi neighbourhood, the Israeli army continues to close the entrances to the area of Al-Hisba (the fruits and vegetables market) with an electronic gate; Al-Laban Market also remains closed.
(ii) Since 05 January 2009, the Israeli army has closed the area located along the Green Line south of the town of Yatta. Having seized land for Wall construction, the Israeli army evicted the Palestinian residents and denied them access to the area.

Closure of main Roads

(i) The Israeli army continues to close the entrances Al-Karmil villages.
(ii) The Israeli army continues to prohibit Palestinian vehicles from travelling along the old Al-Shalala Street leading to Hebron’s Old City.
(iii) The Israeli army continues to close all roads leading to Road # 60 as well as detour roads along the settler bypass road leading to Yatta town.
(iv) The Israeli army continues to close with dirt mounds a detour road leading to e to Al-Simiya village, the southern entrance of Al-Samou’ and the entrance of Beit Annun with cement blocks.
(v) At 05:50 on November 5th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance leading Farsh Al-Hawa area in Hebron with Cement blocks.
(vi) At 10:30 on November 8th 2015, Israeli forces closed the junction located near “Hagi” settlement located in south Hebron with cement blocks.
(vii) At 21:00 on November 11th 2015, Israeli forces closed the main road connecting Beit Awwa and Al-Majd village with cement block and dirt mounds.
(viii) At 15:45 on November 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed Al-Samiya village junction located at the west entrance of Al-Samou’ with cement blocks.
(ix) On November 15th 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrances of Khliat Al-Miya and Al Dirat and the two bypass roads leading east Ytta with cement blocks.
(x) On November 23rd 2015, Israeli forces closed the entrance of Al-Qom village located in North Beit Awwa with Cement blocks.
(xi) On December 1st 2015, Israeli forces closed a checkpoint located along Al-Shuhada road located in the old city of Hebron and prevented residents from passing through the checkpoint and redirected traffic through a road near the entrance of Jabal Al-Rahma.
(xii) On December 9th 2015, Israeli forces closed a road near Jabal Jallis area located in the old city of Hebron and closed the bypass road.
(xiii) At 12:50, Israeli forces closed the entrances of Beit Amrah and Karmah village with dirt mounds.

Flying Checkpoints

(i) At 08:00, Israeli forces set up 2 checkpoints at the entrance of Al-Thahriya and Karma and Beit Imran junctions then searched residents and vehicles.
(ii) At 13:50, Israeli forces set up a checkpoint at the entrance of Farsh Al-Hawa area located in North Hebron then searched residents and vehicles

Raid

(i) At 12:50, Israeli forces raided Beit Omraat and Karama villages, stormed and searched several homes, summoned 3 residents: Ayed Musa Id’ies, Ali Ibrahim Al-Haroub and Mohammad Ibrahim Al-Haroub and then confiscated surveillance camera tapes from 3 homes in Amrat village.
(ii) At dawn on January 18th 2016, Israeli forces raided Yatta and Al-Samou’ and detained 3 residents.
(iii) At 01:40, Israeli forces raided Hanyneh area located in South Dura and summoned Ahmad Raed Ahmad Shattat to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning.
(iv) At 03:05, Israeli forces raided Beit Awwa and summoned 2 residents: Tamer Subhi Masalmeh and Ahmad Subhi Masalmeh to report to Israeli Intelligence for questioning then withdrew at 04:50.
(v) At 04:30, Israeli forces raided Beit Amrah and detained a child.

Detention

(i) At 19:20 on January 17th 2016, Israeli forces detained four residents: Ismail Yunis Al-Awawdeh, Mohammad Khalil Talib Abu Shikhah, Hazim Ismail Ahmad Abu Shikhah and Nasser Ismail Ahmad Abu Shikhah during their raid into Karama village as mentioned in the previous report.
(ii) Israeli forces detained 3 residents: Ziyad Mohammad Aqab Al-Nawaj’a (A resident of Yatta), Khaled Mohamamd Rateb Al-Jinidi (A resident of Yatta) and Islam Iz Al-Din Al-Mahariq (A resident of Al-Samou’),
(iii) Israeli forces detained Murad Badr Id’is (16 years old) in Beit Amrah.

Physical Assault

At 15:05, Israeli forces positioned in the old city of Hebron assaulted Shalabi Shahin Al-Khatib (50 years old) and as a result, left him hospitalised with an eye injury.

Provocation of Palestinian Forces

At 14:10, Israeli forces positioned at the steel gate entrance which leads to Wadi Sa’ir road in Hebron aimed their weapons towards a Palestinian Police vehicle while it was on duty travelling to Bethlehem.

GAZA STRIP

ALL DISTRICTS

• At 19:00 on August 26th 2014, Palestinian Gunmen and the Israeli military agreed to a cease fire agreement (brokered by the Arab Republic of Egypt) which includes the opening of border crossings to allow the entry of emergency supplies and humanitarian goods as well as construction material and agreed to increase the fishing limit to 6 nautical miles with possibility of increase to 12 nautical miles by the end of the year and to decrease the Military area to 100 meters, allow freedom of movement and a halt to targeted killings and assassinations and negotiations will be held for discussion on rebuilding the sea port and airports in the coming month.
• Israeli forces broke the ceasefire agreement by opening fire from their positions behind the Green Line towards Khan Yunis.

NORTHERN GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

Beit Hanun (Erez) is open for the passage of critical patients, journalists, NGO staff, businessmen and passengers travelling abroad through Al-Karama crossing with previous coordination.

GAZA

Closure of Crossing Points

• Al-Muntar (Karni) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 02 March 2011, the Crossing has been effectively closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.
• Al-Shija’iya (Nahal ‘Oz) Crossing is closed. Beginning on 04 January 2010, the Crossing has closed following a unilateral Israeli decision.

KHAN YUNIS

Attack

At 17:15, Israeli forces positioned behind the Green Line opened fire towards agricultural land in east Khaz’aa.

RAFAH

Closure of Crossing Points

(i) Yasser ‘Arafat International Airport remains closed.
(ii) Rafah (Al ‘Awdah) Crossing is closed
(iii) Sufa Crossing is closed
(iv) Karm Abu Salem (Karem Shalom) Crossing open for the entry of tourist and foreign diplomats and the entry of Humanitarian assistance and construction material funded by UNRWA
