PLO Executive Committee Member Hanna Amira: Israeli Act of Piracy will not Shake our Political Resolve

Israel continues to illegally withhold overdue Palestinian tax revenues in a shameful act of piracy while announcing, unapologetically, that it is doing so in order to punish the Palestinian leadership for pursuing the Palestinian people’s legal and natural right to self-determination and international recognition. The Palestinian leadership has made it absolutely clear that we reject this cynical and hostile act of attempted political extortion.

The Palestinian leadership once again reaffirms that Israel has a moral and legal obligation to return Palestinian tax revenues without delay. If Israel believes that this act of robbery will shake our political will in pursuing our rights, it is mistaken.

Israel’s illegal action provides further evidence of the hostile agenda of this government and underscores the urgency of our call to the international community to hold Israel accountable. We strongly discourage third-parties from putting forward unhelpful proposals that would encourage Israel to continue its belligerent policies and illegal actions.
